Moving to a new board has reinstated an old problem. Talking ads that scream in shoddy quality audio, "CONGRATULATIONS!! YOU WON!!" I think we all know that those things are scams and it's really intrusive to be listening to my music and then have that obnoxious voice blast through my speakers. As before, could we perhaps do away with them?

O.o You must have scwheet speakers . But ya, I throw in my lot. There anything we can do about those? I always get startled when I hear them. Like fall off the chair, shamefully enough.

Can you figure out which ad space it's coming from?

Just to let you know, talking ads are against the rules on proboards. Any you get should be reported by pressing Ctrl-Alt-R.

If they're Proboards ads, yes.
If they're ads from Adbrite, I can take care of 'em.

If they're ads from Adbrite, I can take care of 'em. I assume it's proboards, because other forums (who don't use Adbrite) have been having this problem as well.

Usually the talking ad appears in either the bottom center slot or very top center slot. Never the side ads.

I always get the top center one, and it's normally flashing when I get it. I'm kind of tired of that one because it caused me to have a seizure.

Errr...I'm not able to see the ads, for whatever reason. Even the ones for proboards.
So I'm not sure which top and bottom are theirs, by that.
Is theirs above the title bar and below the search bar?

The ad bar at the bottom of the page right above the google search bar

Also seen it happen to the ad slot right below the main navigation bar at the top of the page.
Edit: Those are the problem area's. I don't know which specific ones belong to proboards itself.

I think that whatever's the highest and lowest spaces are theirs.

Then I do believe that is them. Those two slots are were the offending ads pop up for me.
While I have your attention, how long does this warning thing go for? Is it on a timer or something?

If it's theirs, then the previous thing of "ctrl+alt+r" should allow people to report the problem ads.
As for the warning system, I'm not sure, as I said. I've not had much opportunity to learn the Proboards system. I'm assuming it reduces over time, though, since that's what the system on our previous board would do.

Sometiems when I enter a new page, a pop up comes it. It tells me I'm trying to acess a site called JD Williams (I'm not), and that this isn't the website I want (I guess it's refering to TS?) It then says something about ads or flase advertising. It frezes the page, so my only option is to click the pop-up away. But it only gives me the option to click "okay", which takes me to their website.
Any idea how to block this one?
Yeah, that's not a talking ad obviously. But pop ups (especially ones that play dirty to get you to their sites) aren't allowed on Proboards either. Only I can't tell if it's reaching through proboards or adbrite, and even if it was proboards I couldn't report it because it freezes the page.

You should be able to deal with it with the same reporting method mentioned above, I think.

you should be able to hover over the image or link or whatever and (in chrome) it'll show you down at the bottom of your browser who's hosting the site and it'll be some name like Ad.Service.com or something like that, you can report them to proboards and they'll get rid of it.
Also, if you know about host files you can block that link from connect with your computer and that'll stop the ad from loading at all, but I'm not gonna explain how to do that in depth >.>;;

@zax; no, it doesn't work.
I believe it's getting in through proboards, since it happened on another forum that doesn't use Adbrite. I contacted the website to complain, but their response was for me to take it up with my browser. They never explained why it was happening, tried to assure me it wasn't their fault, or explain why it's got anything to do with my browser considering it's THEIR website that's doing it. It makes me a bit suspicious of them.

Just to be sure, I suggest running Spybot or some other program that seeks and eradicates spyware and adware. Sometimes pop-ups are caused by adware.

You could probably report them to the better business bureau, if they are US based.

Well, the problem with talking ads seems to be over. Now I just have Russian chicks thrusting their tits in my face, but nothing screaming.

You should be able to report even those ads. Pretty sure any sort of porn ads are against Proboards' rules, too. >.>
Just remember to let me know if it's one of the adbrite ads that's causing a problem, as I can deal with those, myself, from adbrite's end.

Technically, they aren't porn. They just show Russian women in skimpy under thrusting their boobs at me and the ad saying how much they want a real western man like me(sometimes adding especially as I have such a big penis.) Being a teenage straight girl with no aforementioned penis, this is more irritating than a turn on. Though I am admittedly western.

Either way, if you feel an ad is inappropriate, feel free to report it.

I keep getting them again, it's the top left and right, I got a couple of screenshots I already reported them to proboards but I don't know if they're the proboard ones
