I don't like the way lissa is drawn as well. She just kind of... fades into the background next to Rose, you know? Rose is wearing bright colours and has dark hair and skin, but Lissa is wearing beige and her skin is practically white. SHe's not very noticeable, despite being descreibed as noticeable in the books. She's also not very pretty. D:

I think her due date is inb August or something... coincidence because the graphic novela nd Bloodlines are due out there, too, haha.
I'd totally name my kid Dimitri... but only because I really love the name and it's Russian and I want one of my kids to have a Russian name. For Russian names, I'm fond of Zoya and Yeva (um... coincidence? I don't really know if I like them because of the book or just because they sound like good names). If I really had kids, I'd name them normal names unless I had a reason not to (ex: someone's middle name might end up as Winter because that's my Papa's middle name [originally his first]). ETA: Is it just me, or does Dimitri seem kind of like John, prevalence-wise?

I love this Series. For a Vampire YA series it does pretty well. Rose is a great lead and I love her drive and determination.

We got the cover for book two of Bloodlines: I think the people are a little better than the first, but now the font is irritating me. Screams "cheesy, girly romance" to me.

So I finished Blood Promise and moved on to Spirit Bound
Gotta say, this series is still pretty good, although it seems to rely a bit too much on conveniences to get the story going . . .

August 23 is coming up and I can't wait to read the first book. On the second book cover, are those meant to be Jill and Sydney?

OK...so I tried to re-read Spirit Bound again but I just couldn't get through it!
You guys from the previous thread will, probably, remember how much I disliked this book. To me, it just reads like it's pimping out how super speshul awesome Lissa is.
I think I may disown this book now that I know the plot. I dislike it that much.

^ Spoiler: Adrian gets screwed over.
Am I the only one who's irked that they released the first FOUR chapters of Bloodlines? It just seems like too much. For some stupid reason, I'm worried that the book will seem shorter when I get it.

I have read SB all the way through; I just don't like it. It might not just be the Lissa thing; the whole "spirit turns Strigoi back" thing felt a bit like a deus ex machina to me. It just didn't seem plausible.

I think it would have been better if someone found some old diary that said Strigoi had been changed in the past, yeah. That way it's new for everyone, but established as true.

So, I finished Bloodlines and... holy shit.
1) It was a good book. Sydney narrating isn't nearly so annoying as Rose. That's probably because I'm kind of socially awkward like Sydney, rather than an action girl like Rose. 2) After reading the end, both Sydney and Abe are 10x more badass than previously thought. 3) Rose and Dimitri's relationship is going to be... interesting in the future. 4) Adrian is probably going to do something stupid in the next book. I predict lots of angst on his part.

^ I'm halfway through reading Bloodlines, and damn I'm so curious about what's going to happen next. Yeah, I can relate to Sydney more than Rose because of her personality. I just hate the Alchemists' attitudes towards the Moroi, not seeing them as real people with feelings and seeing them as unnatural. Jeez, can you be any more close minded than that? I don't get where they're coming from with the 'unnatural' theory when it comes to Moroi. Strigoi on the other hand...

^ I know. It sucks so much. You'd think that the Alchemists would think that Moroi and dhampires are at least okay -- they're actually living, and not through whatever the fuck makes Strigoi tick. Ugh, Adrian gets major asshole points. He makes it up in the end a little, though. I'm probably nitpicking here, but I thought that the pacing is bot a little weird at the end: You'd think the showdown with Keith would be the end, but then you realize that there are eighty more pages left.
And then... LEE IS ACTUALLY EVIL! And he wants to change Jill over and become a supernatural Bonny and Clyde! (What's up with Strigoi and that? Dimitri wanted to do the exact same thing to Rose.)
But then... DIMITRI SHOWS UP! To be honest, I think that part would have been better as the first chapter in the next book. There's a point where I just want some closure, not another cliffhanger.

Finally finished reading the book. Yeah, Adrian does have his bad moments, but I think he also has a lot of good/funny moments. Specially the ones with Keith. "Go on in. If. You. Dare. Muahahaha!" I liked the ending, though. I agree, I don't get why Strigoi like the idea of We Can Rule Together.
Also, I hope there's more scenes with Ms. Terwilliger (to find out who she is) and Sydney finally realising there is nothing wrong with magic and getting over her fear of both that and Moroi/dhampirs. And becoming more badass by using magic herself. That was a pretty good addition to the book.

Just got my copy in the mail today. Pity the covers rather girly though, I feel bad for the other male fans like myself. And am I the only one who's annoyed by one of the reviews on the back? The one that says "The obvious heir to the Twilight throne."?
Anyways going to go start reading now.

I think the dust jackets are so annoying when they aren't taped down (like they do in libraries).

They shouldn't even try comparing VA and Bloodlines to Twilight. That is annoying. And am I the only one who likes the cover of this book?

I like it, I just think they could've made it slightly more gender neutral somehow/ made it so both people fit on the page.

Am the only one who hasn't seen Bloodlines out anywhere? Maybe it's just an English thing.
Also, I'm just kind of "meh" on the whole idea; to me, the story finished with Rose. I don't have any interest in reading this series. Is there anything in it that would motivate a "meh" perosn into a "I wanna read this!" person?

What country do you live in? I know it was supposed to come out in all English speaking countries on the 23rd.
As for what would motivate someone who's not interested into someone who wants to read it, I can't really help. I know the main reason I'm reading it is because I want to know what happened to everyone after LS and because I like the idea of a new story set in the same world.

Which country are you in? All I know is that they're still going through the process of getting the books interpreted/published in non-English speaking countries.
The main reasons I decided to read Bloodlines is because the things I heard about Syndey's character I thought was interesting. And the VA series had a lot of loose ends with what Lissa and Jill were going to do now, Adrian and his parents, Christian and his aunt, and Eddie so I wanted to know about what was happening there.

I live in England and I've been into Waterstones a couple of times since then and I haven't seen it anywhere. I might just be looking in the wrong sections but they have a pretty big supernatural section at my Waterstones.
Hmmm...
