At this moment, I have a number of different projects currently in various stages of planning. The intent of this thread is largely to help me get a little feedback on whether or not the premises have merit, track down research material that I may need, and similar media I should look into to strengthen my frame of reference. Here we go.
Silence - This is my big one for the time being. Inspired by The Twilight Zone, this is a web series of horror and suspense vignettes wherein there is no dialog. It's all visual storytelling. Yes, there's sound, just no talking. I've been watching old silent films to get a better grasp on visual storytelling conventions and watching old episodes of The Twilight Zone and Nightmares and Dreamscapes.
Bone Daddy and the Skeleton Crew - Some of you know I already want to make a movie out of this some day, but for now I'm focusing on just writing music and maybe collaborating with an artist to make a few comics out of it. The whole thing is about a loser horror rock band who are also loser superheroes. Think Mystery Men meet Metalocalypse. The style of music I've settled on is a blend of classic metal influences like Judas Priest with a healthy dose of classic rock and a dash of rockabilly and doo-wop. Included are a few deviations from the formula such as a major key holiday rock carol titled Holiday in Innsmouth and a creepy ambient instrumental called Through Channels.
Hostage - My first foray into game writing, this is a short stealth-based 3rd person game wherein you play an office worker trying to escape from a building occupied by some sort of armed criminal group. Their identities and motivations are never revealed, you just have to escape. I've been playing the Hitman games on Steam to get a better feel for how to write for a game revolving around stealth mechanics.
Haunted Attraction Simulator - No title for this yet. Basically a management sim game wherein you have to build and develop a haunted theme park based on mission-by-mission objectives. I'm a big fan of games like Rollercoaster Tycoon, Tropico, and The Sims, so I have a bit of experience with these.
Under the Moon - My werewolf project. A couple contemplating the end of their marriage visit relatives in a small town in Pennsylvania only to find that it's been overrun with werewolves. The family members are picked off one by one by the werewolves, ending in a climax wherein the husband becomes a werewolf himself and bites his wife. The two of them are psychologically changed by the lycanthropy and their relationship is born again at the cost of their humanity. The film ends on the two returning to Pittsburgh to spread their "gift."
Other projects I have on the backburner for the long-term future:
Untitled Western RPG - Western as in Wild West. Something John Ford-esque.
Untitled Fantasy Movie - Planning to shoot this one in the forests of Finland. A monster hunter movie that uses syntactic elements of a Western, but the semantic elements of a horror/fantasy.
Untitled Pulp Games - A series of games released episodically using the 1920's pulp adventure setting.
Psychic Mockumentary - A mockumentary chronicling the rise and fall of a psychic who builds up a following only to be exposed as a fraud during an investigation for tax evasion.
