Haha, it's mostly because I've heard a shitload of fangirls claim he's gay. Not that I ever believed it, but if he has a girlfriend, what the hell would cause them to claim it?

To discourage other girls from going for him. If everyone else thinks he's gay, that'd give them a better chance at him, they might think. >.>
..or because they've decided to do slash pairings of real people and paired him with the guy that plays Draco in order to fantasize that reality reflects their slash fanfics.
