This is a short little compliment for my RPG, Brutallica, and is intended as a little warm up for that. It'd probably help to give that a read before reading this. It's also not my most polished work, admittedly, being a writing exercise and all.
A man dressed in the denim, camouflage-printed gear of a soldier stood on top of a hill at sunset, over looking the weed-ridden, desert-like field under. The Trooper held his battle ax in his hand, and his guitar slung over his back, ready to be swept into action any moment now. The man heard a distinct clattering in the northern distance- a beat not too far off from that of a drum and its symbols.
A grin came to Eddie's face then, knowing exactly who this was. The infamous Iron Giant, that damned mutant must be searching for a deposit of Dragonforce! Something that was rightfully his, being an ex-General for the late Emperor himself! Eddie the Trooper swung his guitar to his front, setting aside his ax as he gripped the cords of the Fender. He knelt down slightly, squinting in anticipation. Had been an entire day with out a fight, something that had filled him with disappointment.
The beat of the Giant grew louder and louder by the second, as well as the monster himself becoming more clear to Eddie's line of vision. They hadn't called him the Iron Giant for nothing- he was at least a meter and a quarter tall, with a body of pure, static metal. The torn, white cloth garbs of a scientist could be seen on the mutant, as well as pulsating, vein-ridden masses of flesh in the few cracks the Giant's 'skin'- one of which revealed the Giant's eyes, which were looking directly at his foe.
Eddie quickly slammed his pic across the strings of guitar, launching directly into a powerful solo going against the drum beat of the iron man. The wind suddenly began picking up fiercely, and the earth around the Giant rumbled, shoving the steel warrior off of his balance momentarily. The giant tumbled down onto his back, the drum beat stopping for a moment.
At this very moment, the Trooper stopped his solo, ripping off his guitar and grabbing his ax as he leapt towards the mutant with a gruff wail of a war cry. The steel warrior came to his senses as he saw the ex-General about to cut into his mutated chest, the human slamming his ax down. The Giant quickly jerked his left arm up, his hand balled up into a fist as he punched Eddie square in the face, launching him from off the ax now embedded into the Mutant leader.
The Iron Giant stood up as Eddie fell to the ground mere feet away, not even bothered by the gushing of black, thick blood from his newly acquired chest wound. The drum beat began again as the mutant titan made his steps forward again, drawing closer to his opponent, who was rising again as well, spitting out a tooth knocked loose.
“My, my Edward.” The time traveler replied to the mortal man in his deranged, Eastern Russian accented voice as he pulled the ax from his chest. “Wasting your time with myself instead of investigating those missing soldiers, are you? How flattering you are.”
The Trooper grinned at the iron man's insult, taking a look at the guitar left on the top of the hill. “What's it matter to ya, ya fuckin' mutie?” He took a few steps back as the Giant came closer, formulating a plan- after all, he's fought the Giant before, and knows he can win this if he just makes good bolt for his guitar. The Giant's weight makes him far too slow to keep up.
“Ah, how typical of you humans. Assuming I do not care for those who get killed.” Of course, this was coming from someone who likes pillaging and murder more than anything.
“You make a funny argument for it, Giant.” Eddie replied curtly, taking a few more steps back. “Always killing, you. No appreciation for life.”
The hypocrisy of this statement was lost on the both of them. The Trooper found his position as the Giant threw the ax at its owner, aiming to decapitate. He missed as the human ducked before turning to run, the ax cutting into the hill's ground as the Giant began staggering over, damning his short comings.
The Trooper quickly reached his guitar, the iron mutation stumbling after. The human quickly launched into a powerful solo, shouting along “O-O-O-OOOOOOOOOH!! O-O-O-OOOOOOOOOH!!” with the rift. The strength of the melody caused the ground to shake again, the wind suddenly picked up in a powerful gust, knocking The Giant meters away from the ex-general as the environment around them began to give way. This wasn't a battle he was going to win- making the iron titan retreat as soon as he got up.
As soon as he appeared in the man's eye, The Trooper saw the Giant disappear from his eye, ending the solo with exhaustion as the sun fell for the night. The hill's dread grass and weeds had been patted down, the Trooper's faithful battle ax having been shattered from the sheer power of the song.
On top of this, the Trooper's solo was showing the Dragonforce reported here mere hours before had been already seized.
But by who? That wasn't something either man would learn any time soon, but they couldn't shake the sudden feeling of being watched at all times as they left the scene...
