Can't say I blame you. Of all the things to inherit, she goes for those books

Can't say I blame you. Of all the things to inherit, she goes for those books She was joking about the books, although she's insistent that I read them. I just don't see how people read it as BDSM, especially since it has nothing to do with BDSM in the first place. While doms and subs can have contracts, they cannot be indefinite because that gives the sub the problem of "I want to get out" and the dom has the liberty of no safeword for the contract (things within, yes; the contract itself, no), since the sub has signed away his/her ability to say no to the contract, regardless of any safewords listed within.

Trailer's here:
Place ya bets, place ya bets! Will it be ungodly boring or will it show the (painfully obvious) abusive relationship for what it is? Place ya bets!

I seriously had to try and remember what 50 shades of grey even was about. At this rate, I'll have it repressed before it comes out in over half a year... are they taking their sweet time with something that has been a short lived fad ages ago?
And it looks completely like the first thing that came to my mind. Completely unimaginative and predictable. Horrible acting. Shots that could be from Twilight. Okay, it's an idiotic book nobody should take seriously, but for doing such a poor job at it, I want them to lose so much money on this, people will forget this series ever made a penny.

She should know better than to insult Mara Wilson - just ask the Nostalgia Critic.

I remember this article. Oh my gosh, the film is gonna be so bad. They moved it to next year on Valentine's Day. The fans are complaining about Dakota Johnson because, "she looks too old and she doesn't look innocent like Ana."

"And by innocent, we mean you got to take one look at her and go 'Yep, that backward, confused, shut in, socially ultra awkward hermit clearly never masturbated by the age of 21. She communicates in blushes and gasps, and she couldn't even turn a computer on by herself. Can't wait to see her get raped by Grey' Dakota Johnson looks like she even REGISTERED her own email address and has a rough idea how sex works! She'd probably even take an acting role for some embarassing borderline porn movie! Do you expect me to relate to such a slut?" Dakota Johnson also forbid her parents to go watch the movie. Isn't that innocent? I would do that too, but everyone, not just my parents. And not because I'd be embarassed of the awkward sex scenes, but of the awkward scenes this whole movie will consist of. They could put her in a school uniform and have her say "notice me, Grey senpai". Surely there are lots of porn actresses who specialize in that, but it's hammy and forced enough as it is. Actually, why don't they stay truthful to the books and actually do that?

Because let's face it, she was probably expecting to have the same fanbase as Kristen enjoyed during the Twilight years.

Do you guys think that Twilight fans moved on to 50 Shades of Grey? Honestly, I wouldn't be so surprised, even if 50 Shades is originally a Twilight fanfiction. It's basically reading the same thing over and over again. Everyone knows 50 Shades is Twilight with more sex and BDSM.

Not real news, but just as dumb: This is about a hardware store chain buckling up for the 50 shades of grey BDSM noob tidal wave buying stuff like duct tape and cable ties. Seriously, does anyone besides E.L. James actually think cable ties are a good idea? I doubt she researched it and it sounds like the worst you could use. It makes Grey look like a cheap ass and a rapist. www.people.com/article/british-hardware-store-prepare-staff-fifty-shades-of-greySounds dumb and convenient enough to be a publicity leak, but it's fun to imagine it was true. What idiot comes in a hardware shop and expects clerks to answer duct tape related questions about a movie, because it made them try out BDSM? And what is there to know about it that you must read a novel to answer it? But I guess a little heads up doesn't hurt. "Hey guys, if customers come ask you about what cable ties and ropes would be best to restrain someone and have sex with them, don't call the cops this time. Roll with it."

My friend, who sadly is a fan of the books, watched it. It's EXTREMELY triggering and disgusting. FYI.

I'm getting worried, when we all used to think Twilight was the worst thing ever this came out and topped it, what if the cycle continues and it inspires something even worse?

It says everything when Grey answers the worries of his hurt submissive by "you weren't meant to like it". That must be one of the dumbest and most potentially harmful sentences in the entire series, and by God, that's not an easy title to hold. It's easy to see someone get harmed over that, but that someone would die is horrible. E. L. James needs to put the word out to her readers, like a company would call back defective products that proved to be harmful. She has no excuse to be ignorant about the topic she wrote a multi million dollar trilogy about.
^it really is hard to imagine but I'm a bit scared of that too. Sadly, the fans' kneejerk reaction to any criticism is going to be "you just don't get it", because it's more than just porn to them, and many people who make fun of it do so because of the awkward sex. Too many get hung up on the fact it's an erotic novel that got openly popular, because many don't even know erotic literature is a thing. Not because it's potentially harmful or because it portrays an excellent hateable villain as the ideal man.

I wonder if it would be at all possible for an actually good fanfiction about a healthy relationship to ever get published and made into a movie.

I wonder if it would be at all possible for an actually good fanfiction about a healthy relationship to ever get published and made into a movie. Probably not. It would be better if an actually well-written fanfiction become a book and turn that into a movie. It seems like people are into these wish-fulfillment stories. Twilight and 50 Shades are popular for a reason, they provide escapism. Who doesn't want a rich, hot boyfriend?

Oh you gotta see what the fans are doing. They try to do this hashtags, #50ShadesisNotAbuse and #AnaHasAllThePower to counter the anti twitterers. This is what they get.
Also they also think we're scam artists because we hate Grey and the horrible romance. Yes, because having an opinion against something means profit? I feel alive meeting so many folks that like my opinion, but then again it's Twitter.
