What do you think are the chances of Stephanie Meyer working on something new? I'm rather curious about it.

Honestly I dunno. Here's to hope no other genre will feel the literary scourge that is meyers

I think the whole backlash she's suffered, what with Twilight becoming a punchline defining a bad story, has taken the wind out of her sails.
Her only real hope for a comeback would be to turn that to her advantage, by writing deliberate parodies, over-satured with the cliches she is infamous for, and basically making a mockery of herself. A lot of people would probably actually buy something like that if she wrote it, but I doubt she's mature enough to do such a thing.

A person not mature enough to make jokes... And here I was, thinking I knew how humanity worked

Meyer used to list a whole bunch of ideas for new book series in some interview, but that was years ago. Right now she seems to be preoccupied with her own production company called Fickle Fish. They filmed Austenland, which is some romance comedy adaptation not written by her. They seem to do young adult novels too. She doesn't write novels nowadays. Imagine you wrote a book and were convinced it would be a future classic, only to have it be the most riffed on series of your lifetime. Everyone including major critics, big name authors as well as your own producers and cast, even your main actors take the piss out of how retarded it is. They don't stop there, they all think you're an insane moron. Your fictional boyfriend's actor flatout says so in public. Even with millions of fans, I don't think I could endure a quarter of this negativity. I could never write let alone publish again without already hearing the haters in my head. This is why she said she wouldn't return to Twilight. That would require her to understand all the mistakes she made very well, and then "betray" those who actually backed her. If she learned so much, she may write proper novels now. Part of the fun about Twilight and why it's so hilarious is that lines like "This is the skin of a killer!" weren't just something a fictional character said seriously. It's the fact the author didn't even see the problem with this, and that the books are choke full with it. Meyer being stupid and taking herself too seriously is the whole punchline to begin with. Besides, Twilight is long buried and the jokes dried out. She's the last person who could top the jokes already told, and she'd have to do that a lot of times to make a whole book entertaining. Some would give it a go just to see what got into her, few would finish it. You might want to check out "Serra Ellinsen's Awoken" though if you're waiting for a written parody like that. It's Twilight meets Cthulhu.

Meyer said before that she was going to turn The Host into a trilogy but look what happened. The first book isn't even as popular as Twilight, so there's no point in her writing the other two books. She said before that she was gonna write some time-travelling, mermaid story, but almost everyone forgot about it.
Honestly, there's no point in Meyer trying to even write a new project. She's done with writing. She got a lot of flak from Twilight alone. Stephen King said, "she can't write worth a darn." The chance of her writing someone new is 0%. Did Meyer actually want to be a write to begin with? She didn't write anything else before writing Twilight, which was her very first novel.

It only made $2 Million on the box office. It didn't do so well.

I personally don't think she'll ever write another novel.

As of October, she's been asking fans to say which characters from the official guide would be more cinematic; since apparently she wants to take their story to the big screen and also this:
From her own site. Also her other projects page is empty and no word of the sequel of The Host.

Okay, so she wants to do what exactly with her "characters"? I'm not really understanding.

Judging from the message that Lady of Himring shared with us just now, I'm guessing SMeyer wants to basically poll her fan base to see which of her stories/characters should get their own movies, and then make a movie from there.

She's asking her fans which Twilight based character would deserve its own movie basically.

And it IS a very hard question. I'd vote for Mike Newton. She can have seventy more movies for all I care, as long as it doesn't become the next big thing again. It would be interesting to see if she grew as a writer, or if she's pretty much doing the same old mistakes. I want to believe.

I'd choose Rosalie Cullen.

^Rosalie would be my choice. Maybe Alice or Leah. Actually, having some awesome tag-team movie where the 'bitches' of Forks got together to be badasses (Rosalie, Leah, and I think Jessica) would be the ideal here.

^IDK about an official movie, because then SMeyer would most likely do a repeat of Eclipse and derail all of their respective characterizations just to make the main characters (especially Bella and Edward) look better in comparison, but that idea is practically BEGGING for its own fanfic at the very least.

Alice would be my choice actually, because of Rosalie's story is terrible. Leah would probably get a romance so she'd be less of a bitch. And I picked Alice because of all the Cullen's she's the one with the less explored background; it would be interesting to see why she doesn't remember or why she says she doesn't.
