is awesome.
I sang this when I was in the 7th grade. If you haven't sung it, bug your choir director until they let you sing it. It's amazingly fun.

Oh choir, how I love thee. I can honestly say it is the only class I actually like this year. I'm in my school Treble choir and it's alot of fun and I'm also in our junior show choir (also a bucket o' fun) I have to disagree with you on that, the best choir song is Omnia Sol. It's so beautiful and I wish I could just sing it forever! this was the best video I could find for it

^Lies. Baba Yetu is amazing and fun to sing and happy-sounding (the actual words are, in fact, the Lord's Prayer in Swahili) and you can dance to it without looking or feeling like a moron. Omnia Sol is pretty and all, but Baba Yetu is so different and informal and freeing.

I'm in Choir. One of three baritones. Then three altos. And about 7 sopranos. We're so dysfunctional.

<3 Choir. So sad that I can't take up choir again (in college). T_T I was Alto for three years and Metzo-Soprano for one year.
My teacher made us sing this song every year--AND IT WAS GREAT.

^ That's really pretty. I think the adult choir at my church has sung it (not positive though.) Do you guys do contest in the spring? We got our ensambles this week and I'm very happy with my group. We have two seniors, a junior, 2 sophomores, and a freshman. I think we can do very well and hopefully go to state.

I'm not sure what you mean by stereotypes.
If it's the stereotype that the alto section sucks and the sopranos are so-so, then yes.

Ehehe I love choir. The song.. it's alright. It's an African song. Those songs are always fun. Is it the best song I've ever heard? Eehhhh probably not. I've been in choir for a long time. Since I was around 4 or 5 years old. =3 Personally I enjoy band more, but I still love choir. On that note, no mention of Erich Wittacre yet? For shame! =[ God I love that man! @_@

My high school's highest-level choir is singing that this year, I believe. Anyway my high school's choir program is in general not as good as my middle school's was, so I'll only post songs from my seventh and eighth grade years. I loved Let the Song Begin. It was so weird and dissonant.
NO CONDUCTOR HELL YES. Yet the high school choir director only lets the highest-level choir do this song. T_T
The awesomeface ones are from seventh grade (18 girls and 1 guy in that choir), and "Carol of the Bells" is from eighth grade.

I was in Chorus for almost ten years (from 3rd grade to 12th). Also in 11th and 12th grade, I was part of the Chamber Choir, that was awesome because we once got to go perform at All State (which I was nominated for but didn't get in because I can't read music ><). Every Winter concert we sang the Hallelujah Chorus, and alumini are actually allowed to come and sing it with the rest of the chorus at the concert, which is awesome. Every Spring concert we did this song called 'Vamudara', it was something of a send off for the Seniors, since it would be the last song we'd ever sing in High School. Someone even posted a video of us performing it in my senior year on Youtube, it was nice to relive the memories. Oh, and here's something fun, one year in Chamber Choir, we sang this, I kid you not: No, there aren't actually words to this song.
One more thing: SOPRANOS PWN EVERYONE!!

Ah, choir. I used to sing in Mixed Choir (an all-girls choir) at my school, until my choir teacher left and a new teacher took his place. I was sad that he was gone, and I felt it was best for me to switch to an art class. Still, I had fun singing for the two years I had with them.

Do any of you go on trips with your school choirs? The Treble Choir I'm in is going to Branson, MO. There we'll be singing a medly from the film My Best Friend's Wedding, Hotaru Koi (really fun Japanese piece), Charlottetown, Old Joe Clark, Forget Me Not, and a stupid poece called Jordan's Angels which I hate. The trip should fun and I can't wait.

Before the quake last month, we were starting Dona Nobis Pacem and A Whole New World. I actually dislike the film version of A Whole New World, but the choral version is awesome! ;D
I'm a soprano, but a speaking alto (I think - it may be lower).

And my sister's old middle school choir did "Charlottetown" when she was in the seventh grade.
The advanced choir at my middle school (which I was in 7th and 8th grade, as 6th graders aren't allowed in it) would go to the Heritage Festival in Anaheim with the other advanced performing arts groups. The upper-level choirs at my school go on trips, but my choir doesn't. (The lowest-level audition choir, which I'm in, is a sub-choir of the non-audition choir and doesn't travel, the second-level audition choir is an all-girls choir that travels within the US, and the highest-level audition choir is a mixed-gender choir that travels internationally.)

Thank god I'm an alto this year or otherwise my choir would have died of embarrassment. We had our regional choral festival last week (which unfortunately resulted in my awful head cold) and trust me when I say that that top G on "Hine E Hine" had me almost running for the hills.

So the choir I'm gonna be in next year (the all-girls choir) is going to New York City for our trip. And my best friend will be in that choir and on that trip with me for the first time since I was in the 7th grade. (She's a year older than me and approximately 12000 times more talented than I am.)

I've been in choir my whole life and the best song to do EVER is the Jaberwocky. We even did this song before the movie came out. I hated that choir (freshman in varsity, got picked on, teacher let them), but that song was soooo fun I can't find the right version on youtube though, I keep getting this ridiculous upbeat pianoy song. Ours was super dark.

My school is out for the summer but once it starts back up again I'm going to be in 3 choirs at school and one outside of. Plus I'm planning on auditioning for the musical (we're doing How to Succeed in business so hopefully my voice doesn't die on me! Although I can't wait for it and the show choir I'm in is having a fund raiser tomorrow which should be fun.

I was in choir last year, and man, it was a blast! I'm an alto (or a 2 or 3, whatever the teacher wants to call us). I want to take choir again in high school, but the path I've set so far... kind of... rules it out. It makes me really sad. I COULD feasibly get into choir if I waived PE, but... yeah. No way I would pass the tests. PE is easily the most useless subject in school. IT'S TAKING ME AWAY FROM MY CHOIR TIME DAMMIT.

Necro-ing the fuck out of this thread to ask if anyone else here is doing any Anders Edenroth/The Real Group songs or has done some in the past. My (all-women) choir is doing "Bumblebee" and "Chili Con Carne" right now. They're incredibly fun to sing, if not that fun to listen to.
