The book is insensitive to all of these things: Native Americans, Gay People, Writers, Artists, Teenagers, Even Teenyager Teenagers, Teenboppers, Gothic Kids, Normal Kids, 300 producers, Black People (How many times does it reference the ONE black girl's skin?), Sluts, Whores, Mormons (Im gonna say that that's the "People of Faith" she was referencing,), Nuns (WTH WITH THE MOTHER MARY EXPLANATION?!?!?!), Paganistic Blood Worship, Women, Men, Bram Stoker, White girls from Maryland, Oklahoma people, Oklahoma Peoples Accents. I really don't now how to explain how deeply offensive this book is when you start to look.

I assume it's because the series is such a piece of crap. This. I couldn't get past the third book in the series because of how bad it is. Should I start up a blog to record my reactions to how bad Marked is? It's been a while since I last read the books. All I remember is that the books were poorly written Mary Sue fests of eew.

Yeah, I'm never going to read this series if there's too much BS to sift through. I can't stand Sue fests.

Isn't one of the Casts a full time romance novelist? Because that would explain a lot about how badly this series is done.

Melinda did one too, for The Host (I dunno if she did Marked too), and I loved it!

Ugh, I see that crap every time I dare to wander near the Romance section at my local Border's (it's right next to the Fantasy shelves - it's the worst combination, really) and makes me feel weird and dirty every time I look at them.

Frankly, I want to do my first spork on the first book, but I know im going to end up going something crazy and go onto a 20 page rant about the first 5 sentences.

I've read all of the books while writing comments inside of them. Except the last book which confused the hell out of me.

Gah. The best thing about this series is that it's shorter then Twiblight, therfore easier to read. I really really hated her constant Christianity bashing, it really got under my skin. I hate that every single solution to every problem was to "form a circle" or whatever it was they did. I hate the fact that she strings along three or so guys instead of actually fighting the evil (to me the point of every fantasy series is to fight the evil. I don't give a rats rear about who is boinking who. Just get to the dragon slaying!).
Although I did like Aphrodite after a while. She said what I was feeling inside. Oh, and I liked the Raven Mockers. They're kinda cool.

I hate the fact that the authors seem to think that gay = female. And the fact that Jack and Damien are so stereotypically gay that I just want to smack them. Gay =/= squealing and crying and fainting. They can have a fucking backbone too!

It seems like literature refuses to portray gays without at least two gay stereotypes.

Oh, the girl thing wasn't about the squealing and crying. There was one point in the story where one of the characters said the Damien didn't even count as a guy because he was gay.

Ah, I remember that. I got angry, because they're gay guys, and females out there who never squeal or cry. It's like... really? Why is everything a walking stereotype in these books?

Yeah. This is kinda why I think this series is worse than Twilight. Twilight isn't anywhere near as offensive as this piece of crap.

^ Sure it is. It offends victims of abusive relationships, normal guys, humans, teenagers, and vampire and werewolf mythology.
I get what you mean though. Both are horrible books that don't deserve the popularity they get. I hope that this series gets as big a backlash as Twilight did when it came to the big screen.

That is one of the reasons why I stopped reading it.Same here. I went out of my way to rate the first 4 HoN books that came in a pack, and I gave it a 3 star rating on Amazon... I still think I should have rated the books a 2 or less star rating. I still have to review Twilight saga combo pack. I think I nearly facepalmed everytime Damien was described almost extremely girly. Not every gay person acts like that. Seriously, where did the Casts' do their research from... Old tv movies and fashion shows?
