I'm still convinced it's just going to be another WildCards book with the names and cover replaced.

I've never read WildCards. But I hear it's relatively light-hearted superhero stuff? Might actually consider it at some point.
I really do like Martin's faith in the modern era, y'know. For instance, I'm nobody's Obama supporter, but it gladdens me that Martin can bring himself to support the consummate Sansa Stark Candidate.
Speaking of which, I'm actually sorry we won't get to see Alayne in the next book. I mean, she's no Jon, Dany or Tyrion as far as "halfway decent people who might maybe improve things if we're very, very lucky" go, but I just really want Littlefinger to go down, no matter how pointless it is at this stage of the game.

Wildcards is actually pretty notoriously bad. It's like Xmen, but as far as I can tell, Xmen has very little rape in it.
What I want to know is if the guys running the "Is Winter Coming?" boards going to change their name to "Oh, Okay, Winter IS Coming I guess."

I just finished the first book of the series and I have to say Mr. Martin makes me want to slap Sansa Stark with a gauntlet. She is so blind that it annoyed me in the first book. But nonetheless it's interesting to read such contrasting sisters and what their going through. Different situations but same struggle for survival.
I'm rooting for Arya though as her, Bran, Jon, Dany, Tyrion are my favorite characters.
Also, Joffery can go jump off a bridge!

I'm only up to A Clash Of Kings, but I'm already hating Joffrey.
Bran, Arya and Dany are my favourite characters at the moment. I seriously hope the Stark kids don't all end up dying. No spoilers please!
Why has there been no mention of the awesome Hodor in this thread yet?

I actually started looking forward to the Sansa chapters purely because she's just so freaking delusional. Also, I kept wanting to know if something bad happened to Joffery.

So I've finished A Game of Thrones as a book and a TV series, and got A Clash of Kings and A Storm of Swords for Christmas. 2037-some pages of reading.
And Tyrion, oh fucking Tyrion! If you don't love this sarcastic midget, you need to go die in a fire. Peter Dinklage deserved that Emmy Award all the way.
Finally, Joffrey, I hope Sansa murders you in bed.

I took a look at these books when I was at Target and those covers for "A Dance with Dragons" are awfully far apart (but that's part of the fun of reading!). According to Wikipedia, there are seven books planned. Should I wait for the series to conclude and then read them, or should I pick them up as I go along? I prefer the former, but this series is awfully friggin' tempting - especially since I'm into ebooks now. Ebooks are cool.

I just bought the first one and I plan on checking out the other books from the local library near my apartments.

I'm currently re-reading the whole series. I know she gets a lot of flack from many fans, but I love Sansa, she's my favorite character in the series. And I'm on team Stannis for the IT... and I've grown to like Jon Snow.

Sansa is really a great character. I really like her character development and how she has a quiet sort of strength unlike some of the other characters.

I was seriously surprised when I first discovered the fandom (I had read GoT way back) and I found out that both Sansa and Cately were amongst the ones that got more hatred. I think that Sansa's best chapter of the books so far is during the Black Water Battle, when Cersei is all drunk and unhelpful, Sansa shines and you can see her quiet strength.
I found Arya (and this isn't going to please the fandom) way too out there for me to like. No that I want her injured or worst, killed, but it's too much for me. Many fans label her as badass, I say she's more tragic than what people realize. This is a child who already has killed to protect herself, she's a child soldier and that's an absolute tragedy.
And I wept more for Cately, the Small Jon and Dacey Mormont during
{Spoiler}the red wedding than I did for Robb. I'm very much looking forward seeing what Martin has in store for The Winds of Winter, I've read the gift chapters and I found them interesting.

Well, damn, ladies and gentlemen look at this jewel courtesy of Martin himself:
Which is specially rich coming from someone who's associated with Lindaaaa and the westeros forum.

If anyone is interested, there are two books coming out soon: Dangerous Women & The World of Ice and Fire. And out of sheer curiosity, has anyone read the Dunk & Egg novellas?

OK any readers out there? Because I seriously need to freak out over some new info that was released:
{Spoiler}It has been revealed that Rhaenys Targaryen and Meraxes died in Dorne some time during Aegon's reign.
And also this:
{Spoiler}There's a book coming out that has "the most accurate account on the Dance of the Dragons" where Rhaenyra Targaryen died. It's heavily implied that Viserys' second wife was a force behind Aegon II's crowning.

Just in case someone is interested, Martin will soon release a book "The Wit and Wisdom of Tyrion Lannister" when, I don't know. Don't care about Tyrion, just thought I'd let you guys know.
Also, the book Dangerous Women has a short story from Martin, "The Princess and The Queen", which is the account of how the Dance of Dragons (fight over the throne by two Targs, the designated heir, Rhaenyra & her half brother, Aegon) started

Don't bother with it, if you've read the books, apparently. It's just a quote collection.

The short story is kind of important (it already set a precedence for something that happened to Dany in AGOT {The Princess & The Queen Spoiler}Rhaenyra had a stillborn daughter that was born with a tail and scales, like Rhaego did. ), I've been reading online and the official forum that the story is from a historical point of view, meaning it's redacted to look as if you were reading a history book.
Also, I want to look for some stuff there, since it might foreshadow something for the upcoming books
{Spoiler}Martin has already revealed there will be a second Dance of Dragons ; so I just want that story.
