Could also go into Modern Literature. But all of them involve romance, so I figured this was the most appropriate.
Any Sarah Dessen fans? I'm totally addicted to her books. I practically squealed when I heard her newest book, What happened to Goodbye, is coming out in May of 2011.
Just Listen is by far my favorite book by her, and This Lullaby is a close second. I've read all of them, and each I hold dear to my heart <3 (except the first two...her writing was a little shaky back then, but I'll still read them even knowing that XD.)

What's the next book going to be about?
Just Listen, The Truth About Forever, and This Lullaby are my favorites. I read Along for the Ride, but it didn't seem to have as many subplots, which threw me off because usually there are a few.

She hasn't put up a synopsis yet. But I'm going to guess by the cover (which is a girl standing on a suitcase) that her boyfriend leaves, she sets out to find him. Or she leaves afraid of a relationships, I don't really know.

And, What Happened To Goodbye, has been out for a little bit, I'm in the midst of reading it, sort of [blame FFI and work, they consume my time] and for once, the lead male isn't an artist, but in fact, a nerd/genius, the horror! *Is going to be a good girl and read some before she goes to bed XD*
Anyone else reading the book currently?

I just finished it last night. I don't know if it was because of the way I read it (in bits and pieces as I was on the bus or whatever), but it felt a bit disjointed. I wasn't sucked in the way I generally am. I couldn't pinpoint why exactly, maybe that I didn't relate to Mclean at all.
As for the romantic lead always being an artist- Nate from Lock and Key was a preppy jock type.
I'm trying to figure out the timeline from one book to the next and am having serious issues. We know that Macy (Truth about Forever) and Auden (Along for the Ride) are the same age because they both dated Jason Talbot. We know that Along for the Ride takes place after Lock and Key because in AftR Heidi is selling Harriet's key necklaces. And Lock and Key happens after Just Listen because Ruby listens to Annabel on the radio. However, we know that Annabel is still in school at the same time as Mclean because Mclean sees Annabel and Owen on the wall at Jackson arguing about music. But we know that Whatever Happened to Goodbye takes place multiple years after Along for the Ride because Jason has gone to college, dropped out and established himself at Luna Blu.
I figured that Just Listen took place in Annabel's junior year because Sophie was annoyed at hanging out with Emily the year before because Emily was a freshman. Let's assume that Lock and Key took place immediately after Just Listen (i.e.: in the same school year) and then Along for the Ride took place that summer. That would mean the Whatever Happened to Goodbye would have to take place the next year in order for Annabel to still be at Jackson. But then Jason would only have started at Harvard a few months earlier which just makes no sense.
Gah! I have too much time on my hands.

^ Who was Jason? I know I read Along for the Ride, but I don't remember him.
Honestly, I don't think Dessen has a stable timeline. I think that she just references characters who could be there, as little Easter eggs for the readers who have read all or most of her books.

Jason is Jason Talbot. He was the B guy in both Along for the Ride and The Truth About Forever. In Along for the Ride he was the guy who cancelled on Auden for prom less than 24 hours before hand twice and basically the steady, dependable and boring guy to Macy's dark, artistic Wes and Auden's fun, nonconformist Eli.

limelightqueen -- Yeah, I know that Nate wasn't, but artists tend to be the male lead majority, so I was just kinda poking fun at it.
I agree, WHTG is not her best, but it isn't downright terrible. In some places it felt choppy, and in others, as you said, just disjointed.
But she did take out the last two hundred pages and rewrite it, so that may be the reason why it seemed kind of rushed-like.
And I agree with Demeter about the time-line thing, I think that she just references other characters to keep each novel connected, if only slightly.
