Okay, I need someone who is or speaks Italian.
How do you pronounce D'Arco?
It's been bugging me this whole time and I have no idea how to pronounce it.

I don't speak Italian, so I can't be sure, but my grandmother's last name is D'amico or something like that. I think she might have kept it from a previous Italian husband. Anyway, the spelling seems close enough to make a comparison.
Her name is pronounced "Duh-me-c-oh". Based on that, I'd say your name might be pronounced "Duh-are-c-oh".
But I could be wrong.
EDIT: Checked with my Mom. The name IS Italian but she thought your name would be pronounced like "Dark-oh".

Possibly clothes, shoes and cooking utensils. Have you tried reading on Wikipedia about Petticoat Lane?

EDIT: solved that problem but I have a new one. What is the simplest possible "freight elevator" I can use without the risk of the thing crashing down?

Where are the more artistic districts in New York located? Also whats a good park in New York that is popular and has a bridge?
When there is a serious case going on, like a serial killer is running around, is it normal for more detectives to be brought in to work on it? And if so how many do they usually need?

If I remember right, Greenwich Village might still be home to a lot of artists. Or at least it has been. I'm not sure.

^Thanks, reynard and kendobunny.
Also, I have another question.
Can a Human Sexuality class discuss seduction? It's kind of an important theme in my book, but I want the class to be as accurate as possible.

If you want seduction, school's not the place to get it.

So are there any kinds of diseases where you feel like shit one day, and the very next day you feel fine?
Because one of my characters have it, and I need to know.

Hmm...diabetes might work.
My mother has anemia and whenever she has low iron she feels like shit. But when she goes to get transfusions she feels fantastic.
Or they could have a weak immune system and are constantly getting colds or flus from it. Allergies can work too.

Does anyone know any good Noir films, books or music? Also, does anyone know of any books, websites I could use that show pictures of rundown cities and such?

I have one!
My story takes place in the late 1800's, suppose they were introduced to objects from the present day, what sort of things would be most confusing to them?

Look up these movies for ideas. Also I can think of one other example. Involves a bit of steampunk but still follows the general feel: www.filmsite.org/filmnoir6.htmlas for abandoned cities, 20 examples right here. weburbanist.com/2008/07/06/20-abandoned-cities-and-towns/

This is going to be a very strange question, but here goes:
So, two of my characters Veran and Annalise, enter a restaurant, on Valetia's Day (Their version of Valentine's Day.) and only realize it when they notice heart-shaped food being served, Annalise doesn't mind, but Veran does. Anyway, getting onto the point, after they solve the case at the restaurant, they go rent a two-bed motel room, and realize they start to act sexually-attracted to one another (due to the restaurant employees drugging the food with aphrodisiacs because their home town was low on births), Veran realizes it because of a distinct smell Annalise was exhaling (she was more under its influence, because she ate more than he did, so he was able to resist.)
So, are there any aphrodisiacs that have distinct smell? If not, I can always cut that part out. /awkward question.

There is actually no confirmed basis on what constitutes an aphrodisiac simply because of subjectivity of a person. What is attractive to some might be repulsive to others. Aphrodisiac drugs usually don't smell like anything but certain smells can be Aphrodisiac.

Can anyone tell me any conditions where someone is unable to eat? And any possible side-effects of barely eating for a week?

^
Starvation can occur in a number of circumstances: Medical reasons
Anorexia Bulimia Coeliac Disease Coma Major depressive disorder Diabetes mellitus Digestive disease Constant vomiting
Circumstantial causes
Famine – for any reason, including overpopulation and war. Fasting – done without proper medical supervision and lasting more than a month. Living in Poverty Overpopulation – when there are too many people to feed in a given area
Over a week starvation can cause substantial loss fat and muscle mass. Vitamin deficiency can occur often leading to anemia, beriberi, pellagra, and scurvy. Atrophy (the body wasting away) can start to set in making the immune system weak and decrease the ability to sense hunger and thirst therefore leading to severe dehydration.

What would cause someone to shake, other than cold and extreme hyper-ness? -fear -nervousness -Seizure (in extreme cases) -electric shock -fever (sometimes) -willfully doing so -nervous tic (though this typically only occurs in part of the body, not the whole thing) -earthquake (But this makes everything else shake too) Now I have a question. Suppose someone is a fan of a celebrity, but they were never able to meet their idol in person. How could one acquire an autographed photograph of the celebrity? Or for that matter, any other such memorabilia of this celebrity? The only catch is, said fan has no internet access at all.

Radio station and stores do contests and promotions like this all the time. No internet required. Just walk in a store or have a radio station hold a contest. Those are what immediately come to mind.

In the old days, the easiest way to get one of those would be to join a fan club, which would often have the press address of a celebrity, who would often send autographs to the official fan club, either for a nominal fee, or for the extra publicity the fan club created.

OK, I have two questions:
-Does anyone know how long it would take for hypothermia to set in if someone was trapped in a freezer while soaking wet?
Also, does anyone know any good sites detailing quality of life in the Soviet Union? Or, does anyone here have any idea what life wa slike in the USSR?

OK, I have two questions: -Does anyone know how long it would take for hypothermia to set in if someone was trapped in a freezer while soaking wet? Also, does anyone know any good sites detailing quality of life in the Soviet Union? Or, does anyone here have any idea what life wa slike in the USSR? The first question is easy and yet hard. Simply: Guesstimate. It depends on how long your bodies core temperature remains at a safe level, this varies according to your physical size, current health, the protection you have from clothing and the severity of the environment you are in. A weak slim person with light clothes soaked in cold water could get hypothermia and die in a few minutes while a heavier set and fit person in heavy coat can last several hours before it sets in fully. On the other hand: Consider that normal body core temp is 98.6 F (37 C) and symptoms begin to set in about 93 F (35 C). You'd have to take the rate at which the temperature makes the body drop in core temperature (Figuring how certain factors might slightly or drastically alter this rate. All in degrees (temp) per second.) and find out how long he has to be in in there (also in seconds) to reach a temp that would get hypothermia. Keep in mind that severity is divided into four regions: mild 32–35 °C (90–95 °F); moderate, 28–32 °C (82–90 °F); severe, 20–28 °C (68–82 °F); and profound at less than 20 °C (68 °F). At severe you might as well be all but dead anyways depending on your condition. Second question I'd have to get back to you on.
