I'm going to die just looking at the photo gallery of this book's movie adaptation. It's going to be disaster cooked and broiled, and seasoned with vinegar, with lots and lots of fatty content that will make me vurp (vomit+burp).

There's going to be a movie adaptation?
Why does THIS SHIT get a movie when Methods of Rationality or Backwards With Purpose or whatever doesn't get a movie?
And now Traitor is sad.

Doug Walker (Nostalgia Critic) and Team Four Star read some of this book at a convention they went to recently, doing different voices. And my God is it glorious XD
Oh shi- did Alucard just dry hump Mr.Popo? XD Now that's a pairing to behold! hahaha! Woot! I finally now know what GanXingba looks like and he ain't that bad looking. x3 Oh, where to begin with this book.... I am disappointed with that article somebody posted a link to. When it said that it glorified pedophilia I thought it was going to center around Teddy. Ugh! Christian Grey....just eeeewwwww! I know the baby has yet to be born, but that a creepyass fuck thing Mr. Grey said. He thinks his unborn daughter likes sex already? Poor fictional baby girl is going to be in a world of trauma me thinks and the worst part is that the mother's too stupid to notice. There's probably a paragraph located in the book that includes him molesting his kids right in front of the mother and instead of being appalled by this she's just getting horny over it. Also during the many sex scenes Ana keeps going about her "subconscious" being scared. Shouldn't this alone indicate that she's in an abusive relationship? I know Grey's into some kinky shitz, but that shouldn't mean she should have to be terrified! Also she states that he's scary when he's angry. You know what that makes me think of? A woman backed into a corner begging for her husband/boyfriend not to kill her. The only reason a woman would be on a man's cock after this statement is because she's being forced to have sex with him. I don't think it's ever sexy if you become outright terrified of someone when they're angry! To me that would be an indication to get the hell out of there and take your babies with you!

Well the whole 'plot' of the thing is that they have lots of sex so I guess it's for the fact that it'll essentially be a really lame porno.

Also, has anyone read this book to see how horrible it is? Maybe someone could do a snark of it? I think there were a few people earlier in the thread who said they read it. There's also an earlier post linking to a livejournal sporking where the book gets a chapter by chapter dissection of why its so terrible. It's not a love story. It's not a BDSM story. It's a rape story. END of story. All you have to do is look at the contract and realize that James has NO CLUE what she is talking about, BDSM-wise. Submissive contract my ass--that's a SLAVE contract, and there is a BIG DIFFERENCE between a submissive and a slave. And that is hardly the end of it. But I'm not the one to tell you all that is wrong with this book. They are.

Bahahahahahahahahah!!! That's the funniest shit I've ever heard! Her best selling novel is a cheap fanfic with some really bad sex scenes thrown in. The funniest part is that the guide doesn't seem like it'll even have much advice in it.

Oh, Lord, this book. I was passing some idle time a Barnes and Noble while my parents saw an opera, when i saw this book and saw the black cover. There was a whole display of the trilogy, and I heard about the book so I decided to look at it. I couldn't get past the first chapter, looking at what the book was about I am glad I didn't.

Did you know her husband published a book last Spetember too? It's a Ya story called Crusher (the goodreads reviews are overwhelmingly unsupportive of it) and it was originally a nanowrimo. This all bothers me for some reason.

Necros thread, but I have to post this. If anyone else already did, my apologies. Have Gilbert Gottfried reading 50 shades, warning, do not eat or drink while watching this:

I was about to buy this book at the thrift store but then I realize that maybe it's better to get the PDF version instead. I don't wanna waste money on this book.

XD I've always wondered.... Is there really an audio book for that? XD If not, just read this as if I'm dicking around. XD

Something that bothers be .. .
How exactly can you make 50 Shades a movie and is not going to be put on the damning NC-17 rating?
I mean, the whole series are sex scenes after sex scenes out the wahoo, and people are only going to tolerate the "fade to black" so many times . . . especially since crucial stuff happens during the porn scenes (I guess).
I don't watch a lot of R-rated films, but wouldn't 50 be too pornographic for a film (since it is essentially porn)?

I honestly have no idea, the book is basically Porn "with" plot, I seriously have no idea how they are going to do so. The reason the book sold was because it was the sex Bella and Edward didn't have on Twilight (at least no on page). I'll take that it will involve both fade to black and a lot of toning down the sex. But who knows.

I posted a link earlier that the porno parody was being sued from Universal. movies.yahoo.com/news/fifty-shades-grey-porn-knockoff-sparks-lawsuit-233431828.htmlIt does question that they're trying to make it an NC-17 movie. I dunno how they'll manage it. Anyways, here are some tumblrs that I follow for 50 Shades. 50shadesofwhy.tumblr.com/50shadesofbullshit.tumblr.com/

The major roles have been cast...
Dakpta Johnson is Anastasia Steele... and Charlie Hunnam is Christian Grey.
Excuse me while I stop being human.

Charlie Hunnam is the lead in Pacific Rim (which I really like, so I'm not a happy camper) Not one iota of a clue who Dakota Johnson is though.
