"Risto Wicker..." Reed said, already typing it into his computer in a tone that said there would be background checks until they knew what he ate ten years ago to this day. "You may proceed."
The former Creeper turned to face the elaborately gauntleted, and he noticed booted, man. "Uhm... Professor Wheeler?"
The mans broad lips broke into a pitying smile. "Nope. I'm Doctor Cutler. Call me Travis." He raised one gauntlet as though to shake hands and a semi-transparent image appeared around it, like someone had just put a plastic bubble around his hand. "Oh... Uh, sorry, just wanted to shake hands."
"You're not supposed to take those out of the lab." Reed admonished the doctor.
"I forgot, okay? Wheeljack sent me up here to check on the new applicant and we'd just finished an experiment."
"It exploded, didn't it?" Al chimed in unhelpfully. "I need to help you guys out some time, it sounds fun."
Reed shook his head, never taking his eyes of Risto. Travis dispelled his forcefield with a gesture and beckoned Risto to get into the elevator with a nod of his head instead of using his hands to gesture.
"Wheeljack is waiting for you below, but he's a little tied up at the moment cleaning up the mess." Travis explained. "He didn't tell me much, what is it you do again?"
~~~~~~~~ ((Flashpoint is only listed as being able to carry with her the mass limit of one car at a time, she can't clear both lanes, pick either the car ahead of Cupids family, or the car beside it(with the crying child). I'll update the map once the change in layout is resolved. EDIT: resolved, the road in front of Cupids family is cleared at little more than a car length, up to the car that crashed into the centerline guard). Additionally it would have to take two teleports to get them to safty and back again and Flashpoint is only able to make one teleport per 'turn'(without spending Karma or otherwise arranging events to boost her speed). That means that after Flashpoint returns, Scorched Earth has one more 'turn' of holding her breath before she passes out(as of being hit with the foam she had four turns to climb out of the car and get to fresh air, or for someone to break a window for her or something. The man in the car with her, having a higher Endurance, actually has five, but his legs are trapped). I'm letting Cupid and/or Scorched Earth have their go(which they're technically doing simultaniously as Flashpoint) before Flashpoint pops back on the scene. At which point the SUV-bot throws a car at Cupids parents. Hope someone's there to catch it.))
Scorched Earth screeched as the fire extinguisher went off and she was drowning in foam. She struggled to stand up, barely managing to get her head over the surface of the foam and breathe.
"Come on we got to get out! She said to the man, trying to pull him above the foam. She tried to get out through the hole she made, but her hands were slippery from the foam. She would blast a fireball through the window to exit vertically but she was afraid of igniting any stray gasoline.
And as she managed to slip out, she realized she knew what she needed to do to defeat the SUV-bot. Allof these cars could be turned into deadly bombs with her powers.
But first she needed to pull the man out, something she was struggling doing without hurting him. "You're okay, you're okay" she insisted as she pulled him out roughly,
Scorched Earth came up gasping for air as the slippery flame retardant foam covered and filled the car, and now covered her as well(flame powers are at a minor disadvantage until cleaned off). Her shouts at the man were apparently not lost on him, as he was struggling to pull himself out as well, but his legs were still trapped. All but standing on the roof again, Scorched Earth reached down and caught the man by the shoulder, trying to reassure him as she pulled. (combined Strength check: Failure, can not pull him free.) Unfortunately, he seemed to be having a hard time getting his own leverage, and pulling out of the mangled car just wasn't working. Worse yet, his head was still under the foam. Beneath her hand Scorched Earth felt something shift, almost like the muscles in the mans shoulder, only harder, sharper, and expanding. Something was tearing through his shirt. The pyro-magical girl almost had time to contemplate this before an armored appendage, pretty clearly once the mans arm even though bone plates had formed around the knuckles proceeded by small spikes and an incomplete exoskeleton with it's own muscles had grown to augment the arms strength, punched through the drivers side window, knocking the twisted door off it's frame and letting some of the foam pour out onto the street.
Not even six steps away Flashpoint reappeared with her customary burst of light, having cleared one lane of traffic by one car. Not particularly useful, given how quickly they were backing up, but the passengers of that car were now safe from harm. Which couldn't be said for the towncar that sailed over her head.
Cupid was just in front of her car, her father and mother in the front seat, and an open car space in front of her thanks to Flashpoint removing the intervening car. A short run to catch up with Scorched Earth, who's reddish hair burst out of the white foam to breath again. A glance off to her right however showed that the SUV robot had grabbed the front end of the car nearest itself, and lifted it, then with an apparent amount of effort, given how it's clawed feet dug into the pavement, the car and the passenger went flying through the air.
Cupid had a brief moment of seeing the driver of the now airborne car screaming as it flew straight at her and her parents.
((Cupid hasn't had her move yet, so before anyone saves her, give her a chance to save herself. And her parents.))
((Also, while not present yet, Karma would succeed at a Reason(memory) check and recognize the man in the car that Scorched Earth is trying to save as Ramseys O'Hirn, who had been a popular football player up until a rather dramatic debut of his mutant heritage during a game when his leg was broken and his regeneration kicked in, not only fixing his leg, but growing organic armor plates around it. Cesspit(who initially fails at the check until Ramseys hits stage three or above in his transformations. You don't forget a giant cockroach the size of an SUV very easily) successfully fought the bigger man to a stand still and the Triumphants working together calmed the exlinebacker down. Blue V even felt pity on the man, who(like her) had lost his career thanks to the violence of his powers coming on. Karma wouldn't know what happened after that however. But I'm going with the 'good ending' for it, and Ramhorn is NOT a supervillain, thanks to Chi's character offering him compassion rather than just punching him out and sending him to jail. I really didn't think I'd get to use this "your choices come back to haunt/help you" theme, but looks like I am!))
Scorched Earth shrieked as the man transformed and bashed the car open, falling off the roof of the car and shrieking in pain when she hit the ground and bruised her tailbone.
This wasn't her day.
"Why didn't you fucking do that earlier?" she shrieked at the man,
((Sorry it's small...))
Cupid looked up as the car suddenly burst forth through the air, thrown by the SUV bot. Everything else went in slow motion- the panic in the driver's eyes that doubtlessly matched both her and her parents', the spins it did, her hand reaching for her scepter and lifting it up...
She aimed for the middle of the car when she shouted her attack, behind the driver, and prayed that it would slow it down, or stop its course altogether, to get both the driver, herself, and her parents out of this situation alive.
Cupid gauged the movement of the car with more instinct than actual mathmatic skill in angles and calculations of force vectors. Actually, she pretty much went at it with a panic.
Fortunately for her, the world slowing down was not uncommon to her in times of such stress. Her pudgy little hand reached out and, magically, her scepter appeared from the realm it was kept in, twirling once before she caught the handle. Both hands came together as she gripped her scepter in front of her, and in lieu of a pirouette and pose she simply gripped the scepter tightly in front of her.
"Cupids Scepter... Love... IMPACT!" Sometimes it was hard to tell if she was just thinking the activation commands, or actually shouting them out. The effects were about the same.
The pink rainbow beam shot out, striking the flying car near the back seat, successfully avoiding the driver, even as the impact twisted the metal of the car. It wasn't enough to stop it's flight, but it was enough to deflect the flying vehicle into a different angle. It flipped once, hitting the barrier between the north and south bound lanes, and came to rest upside down. The man in the dinosaur armor managed to jump back startled as the car hit near him, and only one car managed to escape before it seemed decided that this lane of traffic wasn't going to move either.
What moments before was death looming above Cupids parents, was now a wreck of a car off to their left about five foot away. Their daughter standing in front of them, scepter held tightly in her hands.
((The man in the car is now likely injured and requiring medical aid.))
~~~
Scorched Earth didn't get an immediate reply to her shrieked question, as the creature whos legs were still trapped in the drivers seat continued to thrash about, pushing foam out of the broken window, trying to get some breathable air to his mouth. Another punch took out what was left of the windshield.
"... get... away... can't... control... the change..." He managed to growl out, his mouth now covered with a set of mandibles, as he started fighting with the steering wheel.
((Ramhorn needs another turn before his stats shift high enough he can fully free himself. He will continue to grow larger, stronger, more regenerative, and more armored so long as he is "in combat"(starting at his injury), but the next turn he enters sensory overload and any attempts to communicate or reason with him will start taking dramatic penalties.))
~~~
"Landing zone cleared." The SUV-bot said, sounding almost smug about it almost squishing Cupid. From the building it had jumped from two thick wires shot, hitting the pavement and clamping down with enough force in the pitons that they cracked the roadway. The two figures in the hole attached themselves and started sliding down the guide wires to join the fray.
((Midnight Pulsar, Reactor, and/or Sleeping Boy should show up on the scene about now...))
The girl stood there for a second, crumpled and breathing heavily from the panic that still was trying to fade away. She took a moment to compose herself, and immediately rushed over to the car to make sure the person was alright, and did what she could to help.
"Are you okay?! I'm so, so, so sorry, it was the only thing I could think to do..." She looked back at her parents, who were still visibly freaked out by all of this. "Mama, Daddy, please try to call an ambulance for help!"
Cupid had to vault the separation barrier to check on the man. As she did she came up close to the dinosaur armored suit. It was indeed a suit at this point, the domed eyes just barely showed somebody behind it, and they looked worried, glancing nervously back at the SUVbot. The suit itself had a very strange blending of clearly mechanical shapes with organic textures, the arms and chest and legs pretty clearly armor plates, despite the scaly texture of them, and the shell like some kind of spiked turtle. Even the 'tail', what was probably a power cord leading from the base of the shell-like backpack to a heavy mace weapon, looked organic and natural, despite the fact that it curved back and hooked to a holster on the belt.
The man in the car Cupid had just blasted was still buckled in, now hanging upside down. His hands, which had been in front of his face protectively now dangled on the ceiling of the overturned car. A bit of blood dribbled from his face, possibly from cuts from the windshield which had shattered on impact. He wasn't moving anymore, but his chest was still rising and falling.
((Reason/Intuition check for Cupid: Failure. She doesn't know how bad the driver is hurt. She might even (mistakenly) think she's killed him, thus instinctively know that she's going to lose all her built up karma at the end of this fight so it's 'use it or lose it' time. Game mechanics way of encouraging a 'righteous rage'.))
The armor shelled man took ahold of the upside down car with his four fingered(the middle two fingers are fused to fit more strength boosting hydraulics) clawed gauntlets and gave a superhuman surge of strength, ripping the car door off so that Cupid could get at the injured driver. Dropping the door to the roadside the armored figure stepped back, almost sheepishly, as though he didn't know what to do.
~~~~
The two figures that dropped off the guideline wires balanced on one 'leg'. Or rather, they balanced on one wheel, their two legs clearly separated and full of as much human flexability was possible when one was balancing on a unicycle. Their arms ended in gauntlets that had a three opposing mechanical claws, and enough of an exoskeleton of metal struts and joints covered them that they would probably be protected in general combat, though not likely from a lucky bullet. What they wore seemed to be rearticulated motorcycles, sleek street bikes, converted to power armor. Which meant there wasn't enough to completely cover the person still 'driving' the machines. Unlike the SUVbot they were assisting, perhaps even commanding, these were clearly two living people.
While the pilots bodies were fully concealed in suits of biker leathers, complete with head concealing motorcycle helmets, it was a good guess that of the two, the one in the dark blue with gold accents was female, and the dark maroon and black accents male. Their voices, while somewhat modulated by their helmets, helped a bit more to determine their gender.
"Stop him!" The male called out, pointing at the man in the dinosaur costume that was helping Cupid.
"He stole that suit!" The female chimed in to explain the situation.
((Psyche check: Cupid success, Scorched Earth success, Flashpoint failure. Success means you don't have to believe this explanation, failure means you jump to the conclusion presented to you. Oh, and Ankylo', the guy in the armored dinosaur style suit, also failed his Psyche check so...))
Ankylo' glanced at Cupid and shook his head, backing up a step to brace himself and raising his hands to fire pulse blasts from his palms at the girl.
((Intuition check: Cupid failure, Scorched Earth success, Flashpoint failure. Success tells you that Ankylo' doesn't actually HAVE palm blasters, his gauntlets are weaponless if you don't count the stubby claws that tip the fingers, he's just sort of panicking and holding his hands out in front of him self waving with a 'don't shoot me' gesture, which is very hard to read given his bulky armor. Everyone who failed this check can assume that he's about to attack and/or take Cupid hostage. Ah, hilarity, time to ensue.))

"Cupid its okay!" Scorched Earth said as she limped toward the scene, her behind still bruised, "I don't think they're gonna hurt you I... ow."
She fell to the ground and looked up at her exchange sister, "I think I know how to defeat it... all the gasoline here... I can make it ignite. At the very least that... will weaken it."
There was a short pause, "Also I think I broke my butt... like seriously I'm not joking."

The pink-haired girl was mostly preoccupied with the driver, terrified to think she might have killed someone. Her heart was racing, and she fought to look for a pulse. At the commotion behind her, she looked back. It weas obvious the suit had to be his, but then- what was he doing?!
She braced herself now for an attack.

((Okay, no new post for Flashpoint... but next turn I suppose. Flashpoint is still under the impression Ankylo stole his armored suit AND that he's attacking Cupid. Cupid, while having her doubts about Ankylo's guilt thinks he's attacking. Scorched Earth knows better on both accounts. And additional heroes(excepting Creeper who is still in his job interview) can show up any time now... yes sir... any time...))
"Somebody stop him!" The blue and gold wearing motorcycle commanded, pointing at the large armored form that took inspiration from a dinosaur.
"Proceeding with capture." From above and behind the two motorcycle figures the SUVbot responded, taking a loping ponderous ape-like step towards the centerline of the road.
It was at that moment that the wrecked car exploded and many things started to happen at once.
First of all, the explosion was not one of gas igniting. The car was still doused in enough retardant foam that was pretty much out of the question. No, the explosion was more physical. The driver inside was one of a select few... yet highly visible... population in Triumph City. He was a mutant, and his mutation had ruined his life, taking away a very productive career. Now, it took away his car. His mutant powers triggered on injury, and reacted to the injury defensively, trying to repair his injured body and stop further injury from taking place. As a football player he had broken a leg only to have it not only heal, but for all his protective gear to be organically replaced with bone plates and a heavy carapace exoskeleton. Now he had been caught in a car wreck, his legs crushed against the steering wheel and his head smashed against the window. Armor plates started to grow, new muscles started to develop, and his senses started to expand until each noise was painful, each sensation a blade cutting into his raw hyperactive nerves. He grew larger, stronger, and more trapped with each moment. Something had to break. Something did: the steel prison that had been his car.
The SUVbot reacted to the roof of the car being snapped off and flying at it's face, blocking with one arm. The steering wheel and column went flying over Scorched Earth's head towards Cupid, getting splattered by some of the retardant foam being flung about. A feral sound of a mans scream of pain, coupled with a steady rasping and clacking of mandibles could be heard as the monster finally managed to pull himself free of the car. His legs were covered in shards of broken bone armor, making disturbing scraping sounds as he stood up, one leg still in the car. His head was covered by an exoskeleton, and spincules for breathing had extended out giving him spiny horns. His eyes were covered over in bulging compound structures, and his back and chest had a heavy shell that forced him into a slight stooping position. Despite his posture, he stood easily nine foot tall now, and rippling motions beneath the armor, beneath his torn skin, showed that he was still growing, still adapting against the damage his body had taken.
The dinosaur armored man, having taken a step back from Cupid now rushed at her, his large armored arms, by comparison to both the massive ape like SUVbot arms and now the raging insect armored beast arms small but still large enough they looked like they could lift a car, reached out to grab Cupid in a tackle, trying to pin her down as car parts flew through the air.
((All three heroines are aware enough to see all this happening, and agile enough to do something about it. Cupid could easily jump out of Ankylo's tackle or smack him with her scepter or something. Likewise, as it's a new turn, Flashpoint has another teleport that can be made, plus is in range that she could probably jump and tackle Cupid before Anklyo reaches, teleporting them both to safety if desired.))

It hadn't been too eventful of a day for one of Triumph City's newer citizens, which was good for her. She'd always hated confrontation, which of course was a questionable trait in a person attempting to be a superhero, but she didn't really dwell on it. She was happy here, no matter what people tried to warn her. Nobody looked at her weird, nobody questioned her haircut or her way of dressing or her black eye. She liked that.
That wasn't to say people weren't concerned with each other here, or anything like that - it's just that this sort of thing seemed to be normal here. Then again, 'normal' was a relative term for a city filled with superheroes. Really, the superheroes were hard to distinguish from the civilians here, and that was the way it should be. Everyone she'd ran into had been nicer than she'd expected, and the cute boy at the deli had asked her about her day while taking her order, which was more than she was used to from other people. It was great.
By this point, she sat on the swing set at the park. If it was thought to be infantile by any of the adults taking their toddlers here, she didn't know about it, even with said small children playing all around her. One brave little boy had asked her to push him earlier, and she had obliged before he had to run off with his mother. So now, she was just being left to her own business, thinking everything over. She needed a place to stay, that was first priority. She had quite a bit of money still saved with her, stuffed into the purse inside her jacket. But a job would definitely have to be found as well...
That's when a car appeared from nowhere several feet away, sending everyone around her gasping and jumping back from it like an explosive. She froze for a minute, before seeing another girl disappear again, without the cars.
Seeing nobody else doing... well, anything, she rushed over to one of the cars, and asked of the people inside, 'W-what on earth is going on?'

((Intuition check: The unnamed, unknown, and new heroine, which I assume is Angel or Runaway, or whatever you're calling her, noticed Flashpoint 'bamph'ing away after the car appeared, but can't get a good direction from that sort of thing. Flashpoint doesn't have enough of a 'tell' to her motion to predict where she teleported to. Also, even at her superspeed, it'll take a turn or two for her to reach the overpass(more because she doesn't know where it is and the route to take exactly than a limit of her speed). The car passengers, if they're not in shock, would be able to tell her.))

---Department of Metahuman Affairs, Downtown Triumph City. Mid Morning.
This was the place the card had told the wanderer to head to to get set up as a superhuman in Triumph City, alright. Elvis Queen felt like he stuck out like a sore thumb in the slightly upscale business building. Not because of his hair or his powers, but because most people here (however few there were) weren't wearing most of their possessions on their back. The place kind of reminded him of the DMV, but he didn't want to slit his wrist from soul crushing boredom yet. Not that that would do anything for him.
The radioactive boy sighed as he waited for his number to be called. At least it wasn't too busy. And the seats were cushiony. So that was nice.

Recently returned from her teleportation, FlashPoint had trained herself long ago to forgo the initial wave of vertigo that often came with instantaneous molecular transmission hither and nither, taking in her surroundings back on the bridge with a quickly-drawn breath and a dashing back into the thick of the action, ready to move more bystanding commuters out of the way of the massive menaces . . . until she noticed Cupid in the headlights of the hulking dino-thing.
Eyes wide, the English-born teleporter dashed forward in an adrenaline-overdriven sprint, taking Cupid into a rough embrace before disappearing with her, this time back to the original position on the bridge she had been standing.

"Hey," she greeted him as she took a seat beside him. "Same reason as me, I take it." "Getting registered, yep," Elvis said, remembering the blonde girl from yesterday in the park. "Feels like I'm getting my driver's license again. 'Cept a nuclear detonation isn't really something I have to worry about when driving." Elvis looked at his number and the one on the "Now Serving" sign. Still didn't match. Damn. Made sense that this would take a little while, this was a bit more complicated than getting someone their license. At least he had someone to pass the time with. "You, uh...mind me asking why you're here?" he asked Anais. "I mean, I know WHY you're here. But why are you here; what can you do? No pressure to answer, I get it if it's a private thing. Or, y'know, you don't feel like telling some random white hair hobo your secrets."

~~~~~~~~ The next morning. Kyle felt himself being prodded awake by the demon in his mask. Rather slowly his mind started to process where they were and what they were doing, but that was a bit too slow for the demon. It wanted to get out and away as soon as possible. Kyle pulled himself off the couch that he was too big for, rubbing his neck as he staggered for the door. It was a one room apartment, with no bed. Instead there was a coffin that the demon was telling him not to mess with. Something about having gone out with that other hero, the one with the white hair and red outfit. They'd busted up some minor groups of gang bangers, following a specific trail. There had been a fight in a park with baseball bats... Kyle remembered he'd punched out a tree. Something about the gang had been a bit wrong... oh yeah, demon worshipers. They'd started to get demonic abilities. Yeah that's right. Buncha posers. The two heroes had interrogated their way up the food chain for a bit, finally busting in on a run down house that some warlock had converted to manage his demonic forces and street punks. There had been a fair amount of beating people senseless... and Kyle had taken a few more blows in the process. Oh yeah, the warlock had summoned up a pretty mean demon to stop Kyle and Darkson. Kyle started punching the Warlock until the guy in his stupid purple robes had spilled about some kind of mystical tournament was gearing up, and folks were getting ready for it. The prize was going to be some maiden. That had to be Kyles girlfriend, right? Because... no wait, what was Darkson doing while Kyle was punching the warlock? That was probably important... Right. He'd eaten the attack demon. And that was probably a good reason for them to leave the apartment while Darkson was still asleep. " So." The demon spoke as Kyle tried to sneak out of the apartment. " What now?" "I thought you knew what." Kyle replied, carefully opening the door. A small creek was heard as he pulled away the door. He tossed a quick look back at the coffin, his eyes looking panicked. Watching the coffin intently, he slowly inched the door open. " Look, kid." The mask replied as its host slid out of the room, closing the door just as carefully as he opened it. " I just want to get away from who ever is in that coffin." "Right." Kyle nodded, trying- and probably failing- not to draw attention to himself as he walked down the hall. "He ate that demon, right? What the hell would let him do that?" ((Will post with Hopper when current scene is over and/or after I completely catch up on it. Just posting to make it clear I'm not dropping out just yet.))
Cupid had been raising her scepter, prepared to attack at the 'dino-man' - just before being grabbed and rushed off by someone. When she saw that, all of a sudden, they were at the other end of the bridge, she felt her knees give out and her head spin. It took her a second to realize that Flashpoint was still holding her.
"-Thank you," she breathed. "Thanks."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Angel hadn't gotten the slightest hint from the people in the car. All of them seemed... well, to put it bluntly, in shock. Since there was nothing to do concerning figuring this stuff out - she might as well help out here to make sure everything stayed just fine.
It took a little bit of concentration, but soon she was able to lift the car into the air - not high, only about a foot, but high enough that all the little kids around were staring at her and it in awe. Slowly, she walked with the car to the edges of the park, into the parking lot, and set it gently down into a vacant spot. Now, if they needed to take more time before leaving, they could - and they wouldn't leave tire tracks throughout the park scrambling to get out amidst a bunch of little kids.

~~~Liberty street overpass, Uptown Triumph City. Mid Morning.
Anklyo' had seen Cupid raising her scepter, and had seen Flashpoint sprint across in front of the Ansel family car vaulting over the concrete separation barrier. He didn't seem to react to either event, perhaps side stepping a little to avoid being blasted and stumbling just a bit as both girls vanished from Flashpoints power.
He stopped right where Cupid had been standing, right next to the man who was upside down in his wrecked car, and turned away from Scorched Earth, the armored suit bracing itself by digging it's hydraulic spiked 'toes' into the pavement.
The flying chunk of metal that had been a cars steering column crashed against Ankylo's back, where it would have smashed both Cupid and the wounded victim of the car crash. Neither Cupid nor Flashpoint saw this, as they appeared back on the far side of the road and suffered a moments disorientation, but both of Cupids parents, and Scorched Earth did.
"-Thank you," Cupid breathed, the chubby little girl still being hugged by the euro girl. "Thanks."
"We can't let this go on much further." One of the motorcycle wearing figures muttered. "People already have a chance of getting hurt..."
"Somebody get him!" The other one, the female, shouted. The SUV-bot lowered it's arms and took another ponderous step towards Ankylo' that would have taken it past the Ansel family car and possibly stepped on Scorched Earth.
The step however was blocked as the beetle monster, finally free of his car, focused his attention on the giant robot that had wrecked his car and triggered his uncontrollable transformation. Chitin covered arms grabbed the SUV-bot by stomach, shoving back and stopping it from taking more than half a step. The insect beast was still growing, still needing to reach up to grab the torso armor of the SUV-bot, but it already was ready and able to go hand to hand against the SUV-bot and intending to get revenge no matter how much property damage their fight inflicted.
~~~Department of Metahuman Affairs, Downtown Triumph City. Mid Morning.
A test was being set up for Elvis, AKA Reactor, to test to see if he could maintain focus on his radiation. A little machine was being set up at the end of the hall that would absorb radiation and convert it to electricity. All he had to do was fire a blast at its absorbing panels and light up the little light bulb for a moment. While the hallway was lined with radiation tags that would detect if any stray rads were spraying out in levels that would hurt bystanders.
Which meant one of the workers there was putting little green stickers all across the wall, one at a time. It was a thankless job sometimes.
After that, all he'd need was a photo, and their printer would kick out a class H license for him.
As Anais and Elvis waited together, making small talk as the numbers counted down, a man with blue skin walked in. Strangely enough, that was the only thing unusual about him, his light bluegrey skin. His medium length hair was a normal blond, and his outfit was formal enough for this place, while still being pretty low key and relaxed. He held up a card to the lady at the front desk and was instructed to move on.
Which meant he was sitting in the waiting room with them, giving both Elvis and Anais a pleasant smile and nod before he sat down with his paperwork and started filling things out.
~~~Botcon secret Research and Development lab, Downtown Triumph City. Mid Morning.
Travis shifted uncomfortably as the silence grew longer. Finally the elevator doors opened and he stepped out, guiding Risto with him.
"Well, if we're going to have you join, we sort of need to see what you're capable of." He said, using his large gauntlet to open a door to a lab. There was a oneway mirror on the far wall, but otherwise it looked like a well stocked engineering lab.
"With Wheeljack busy at the moment, I guess you can get started. You don't have to make anything fancy, just put together whatever you feel like. If you need any fancier parts than what's in the boxes, just ask. We'd like it if you kept notes on what you're making, but if you don't we have cameras watching so we don't lose anything."
((This is a chance for a few things: 1, Creeper repairs his damaged armor back up to full working spec. 2, Creeper spends karma to build himself a new power or increases the ones he already has. Since he has no karma, that brings us to 3, Risto recycles the Creeper armor(turning the powers it gives him into karma) and re-invents himself with new power(s). The new invention(s) can not have any stat higher than your Reason stat without it blowing up on first use.))
~~~Hero housing apartment building, Triumph City 'projects'. Mid morning
Kyle was easily able to sneak away as Darkson slept in his coffin, and apparently most of the others in the building were heavy morning sleepers too.
What exactly had allowed Darkson to eat the demon was... hard to tell. Kyle had been dealing with other things, and there had been a few blows to the head that he'd ignored. And a few demonic separation rituals. And there had been a lot of really good 'smoke' in the room. Still, he vaguely recalled Darkson tearing out the demons throat and gorging on it's blood in order to regenerate his lower body again.
"Vampires do NOT do that." Kyles mask told him as he walked past Inferno Witches apartment, then Skyfalls, before he got to the elevator. "Whatever he is, it's not a mere vampire..."
~~~Warrior Hoppers House(wherever)
((Warrior Hopper has a new motorcycle he picked up after the Fairyland attack. He likely has been fixing it with parts from his other destroyed motorcycle. It probably still needs some repairs, if he wants to turn it into a robot, but he at least is not without a ride.))
Anais walked into the waiting room, saw that she had to get a number and quickly did so, blinking in recognition at who had the previous turn before her: the kid from the night before. "Hey," she greeted him as she took a seat beside him. "Same reason as me, I take it." "Getting registered, yep," Elvis said, remembering the blonde girl from yesterday in the park. "Feels like I'm getting my driver's license again. 'Cept a nuclear detonation isn't really something I have to worry about when driving." Elvis looked at his number and the one on the "Now Serving" sign. Still didn't match. Damn. Made sense that this would take a little while, this was a bit more complicated than getting someone their license. At least he had someone to pass the time with. "You, uh...mind me asking why you're here?" he asked Anais. "I mean, I know WHY you're here. But why are you here; what can you do? No pressure to answer, I get it if it's a private thing. Or, y'know, you don't feel like telling some random white hair hobo your secrets." "My powers have to do with darkness and space, mostly. I can warp space or create singularities...That sort of thing." She replied, glancing down at her own number and then the sign; it seemed to be a slow day for the Agency so they would probably have to wait a while. "And it's not that random; we did meet last night after all."
"Whoa." The guy with the blue skin mused to himself, listening in on the others there to get their license while he was filling out the paper work. "Far out. Darkness as space. Wouldn't have thought of that... I mean, there's like stars in space." He took a moment to think about the image with a lazy smile before he noticed he'd said that out loud. With a look that said he didn't care if they noticed he gave a shrug and went back to his paperwork.
The next number came up, and it would be Elvis's turn soon.
Elvis listened as Anais described her power set to him. Warping space and singularities...wasn't that the fancy name for a black hole? Elvis was a little relieved to not be the only one in the building who could potentially turn this place into a crater.
"...Cool," Elvis replied. "Got some Carl Sagan Cosmos-type stuff going on. Awesome. And I guess you're right, but I still barely know you even if we have met. But I guess I know you well enough for you to share that with me, so thanks?"
The atomic teen only payed a little attention to the blue skinned man with the barely restrained internal monologue, focusing more on his number and wait time. Not too much longer now, hopefully...
"CUPID!" Scorched Earth shrieked as she saw her new exchange sister put into danger. She'd have run to try to save her, but her tailbone was still hurt.
And then she was saved, by the British girl from earlier, and with impecable timing.
And it got even weirder, the fucking guy who she thought was some sort of villian had kept the motorist from being killed.
"Are you okay?" she said to Cupid, "Listen Cupid, we need to clear this place of civilians. I think I have an idea of how to defeat this thing.... you know what happens when gas meets fire right?" she said motioning to the gasoline splattered ont he ground from the mess.
She nodded, also ignoring the strange man while waiting her turn. After several seconds, Anais spoke up again.
"Are you busy later today?", was her query, directed towards Elvis.
The blue skinned man blinked, glanced at Anais, then shook his head, figuring that she had to be talking to the blond boy. Instead he started to focus and channel his own power.
At first it looked like his shirt was caught in the wind that was only barely felt, but then thin streams of a dark smoke, or rather a dark stormcloud, ran along his arm and formed in his hand. He concentrated and focused until he had a black ball of darkness hovering above his finger tips.
They were going to make him practice shooting his power to show he had control over it, he was pretty sure. Same with Reactor needing to narrow his radiation beam down to be destructive to one point, but not give innocent civilians insta-cancer.
"Uh, not as far as I know?" Elvis responded to Anais' question. "Then again, I don't know how long I'm gonna be here or what they're gonna want me to do afterwards. Why do you ask?"
Out of the corner of his eyes, Elvis spied the blue skinned man messing around with his own powers. He wasn't suspicious, per say...but he was gonna keep an eye on this dude in case he WAS up to something, however unlikely that was.
"Well, was just wondering if we could hang out. Of course, if today's not the best time for it, that's perfectly understandable." She replied, also keeping an eye on the blue-skinned person and his black orb.
The guy with the blue skin seemed lost in his concentration, politely ignoring the two younger heroes. Besides, this trick was harder than it looked. Most of his powers tended to blanket areas of up to twelve foot, if not cover whole rooms. Making something this small, yet still visible was like threading a needle for him. Nevermind that the stormclouds came out of his shoulder blades, and he was channeling it along his arm(a common trick he used to direct his efforts) under his shirt sleeves(another needle to thread).
His concentration broke when the next number was called. The sphere exploded out, fading into nothing more than a gust of slightly humid air, giving the room a refreshing breeze that wasn't quite strong enough to move loose papers. The scent was slightly salty, like a sea breeze.
It was not, however, his turn to be called up. It was Reactors. A hallway had been set up with radiation patches. In addition to his paperwork that he had already checked over, he'd need to fire a radiation blast down the hallway, triggering the one at the end without harming the ones on the walls. Then he had to stand in front of a camera and not have a bad hair day. A few minutes after that, he'd be issued his identification and license card. It also was for free bus rides anywhere in the city.
Cupid had been raising her scepter, prepared to attack at the 'dino-man' - just before being grabbed and rushed off by someone. When she saw that, all of a sudden, they were at the other end of the bridge, she felt her knees give out and her head spin. It took her a second to realize that Flashpoint was still holding her. "-Thank you," she breathed. "Thanks." Flashpoint flashed a quick but cheeky smile back at the girl in her arms. "My pleasure, lovey," she said with a breath, releasing her from the embrace. "Sorry for the headache, the whole quantum dematerialization and instantaneous reconstruction of your matter thing can get regular folks a tad dizzy." As the other girl approached - another familiar face - Flashpoint nodded, gesturing to the nearby vehicles. "I'll do my best to get them out of here in the meantime!"
