Wyn followed Kryseis through the markets. She was browsing through the selection of a Quarian merchant. The poor boshtet had gotten ripped off on Omega while on his Pilgramage, and Wyn was willing to spare him a few credits.
She purchased a few items that she wanted to tinker with to improve the Balrog's performance. Afterwards she returned to Kryseis.
"Did you see that human staring at us back in Afterlife? He was talking to that bartender that the Captain pays off."

"I saw. He seems like someone who likes to pick fights." For her part, Kryseis was still browsing, though she had managed to find a new SMG to add to the ship's armory. "Maybe he had some issue with Val? I mean...we all know what the captain's like."

Wyn smirked, " Who doesn't have an issue with the Captain? The poor bosh'tet won't know what hit him. Think we're missing anything good?"
Wyn was browsing the same weapons store, and picked up a sniper rifle scope, fidgeted with it and looked through it, trying to see if it was worth the money
The shop keeper glared at her as she examined it and grabbed it out of her hand, " Nice try, Quarian. I have no time for your bullshit. Go fuck with someone else."
Wyn glared back at him, "Fine. I didn't want to spend my credits here anyway you son of a bitch..."

Waylon sighed as he was stopped before reaching the Turian. He was cheered up when he realized Elam was just searching him, though. Just as he was wave through, he took aseat across from Val.
"Your friend's kinda touchy feely," Waylon said with a smirk. "But I understand. Anyways, I got a problem, and the bartender says you solve problems. Now, I don't know who you are or what you do, but for a couple reasons, I'm inclined to believe him. I got into a little bit of...an incident on Earth. And while I'm sure it's nothing too pressing way out here on Omega, I'd still like to keep on the move, y'know? Just to be safe. Plus, I ain't exactly in love with the place. How can you help me with that, Mr. Problem Solver?"

It was then that Kryseis cut in. "This place is no good...I'm sure there's other shops around, Wyn." Personally, Kryseis would have liked to smack the shopkeeper around with his own merchandise but she didn't want to cause trouble that might draw the attention of the Blue Suns patrolling the area. However, Pistachio did stop to growl menacingly at the shopkeeper before following the two women down the corridor.

Wyn followed Kryseis down the corridor. She gave Pistachio a small pat on the head. It was funny, she never understood the point of pets, considering on the Flotilla, food and space had to be preserved for Quarians. Pets were a luxury Quarians couldn't afford. But even though Pistachio by that logic was a burden on the Balrog, she liked the creature. Specially since it didn't put up with that shopkeepers bullshit.
"Hey Krys. Do you think the Captain has a good reason for not telling us the next mission? Or does he just likes messing with me?"

"That's what he's paid for," Val replied monotonously, motioning to Elam to ease up on the white-knuckle grip he had on his pistol's holster. The armored Human silently complied.
Val allowed the Human to state his case, nodding along at appropriate intervals and drumming his talons upon the top of the booth's table. "Well, Mister Underhill, you certainly know how to make a disappearance. You're smart to come here, but you're smarter not to stay. While I doubt your troubles on the home world will arrive in force for quite some time now, the bounty on your head's well on its way to circulation around the net. If it catches wind here - as it most certainly will - a party much more interested than mine will make haste to collect.
"That being said, Mister Underhill, you're in luck," that smile returned to Val's face, not all that comforting, given the circumstances and what had been said. "A position aboard my ship has recently been . . . opened. You work for the interests of my crew and I, and I'll keep that bounty from being taken. We have . . ." the Turian trailed off, chuckling to himself airily. ". . . well, let's just say that, if you're a wanted man, you're in good company."

That said, it helped that Kryseis had trained the varren to pull its weight, being a very capable combatant and hunter along with carrying supplies such as ammo or medicine. Kryseis had yet to open up on how she had acquired the critter but likely it had been prior to joining to the Balrog's crew.

Wyn was about to repeat herself, when she noticed some Blood Pack looking in their direction. She tried not to make eye contact (which was easy considering no one could see her eyes) Better they not talk about the next job right here, if they figured out the two women worked for Val...

Madigan stared up at the blonde-haired boy, listening to the whole conversation. He smiled jovially, extending a hand with a chuckle.
"If you need a place to stay, m'boy, look no further! You're in luck with us." He put his other arm around him. "Do you like adventure, boy? Sailing the sea of space, passin' close to stars so bright you'll get blinded if so so much as glance at 'em? Seein' new grounds every other day, new planets and places and whole races you never even knew existed?"

Val watched as Liam interjected with the greatest theatrical aplomb and old Irish romanticism as he could muster. His mouth snapped shut in a mildly confused, non-adverse line.
He paused. He stared. He blinked.
"Slow your roll, Liam," Elam warned as he leaned in to give the man three decades his senior a parental raise of an eyebrow, though the ghost of a smile could be found upon his face. "We're trafficking contraband across hostile space, not taking a hike to the Big Rock Candy Mountain."

Kryseis had noticed the blood pack as well. "Let's not draw attention to ourselves." The Asari mouthed to the quarian as they casually walked to a more crowded part of the bazaar.

Though his sunglasses hid his full expression, Waylon had one of those 'oh shit' moments of dawning realization appear on his face as Val revealed that he knew who he was and that there was already a bounty on his head. He calmed down a bit as Val explained that he was willing to cut him a deal. Waylon was about to open his mouth and say something, Madigan interrupted and said...a whole lot, to which Waylon just reacted with a confused and rather scared look.
"Wh-who is this guy?" He asked Val, gesturing to Madigan. A moment after that, he seemed to regain composure. "Okay, I guess I don't have much of a choice. I'm in. So, uh...what exactly do you and your no doubt motley crew do?'

"Yeah, that's Liam," Val said with just as much confusion as his newest unofficial client and crew member had. His expression turned from confusion to steely severity. "He doesn't talk much."
Like the flip of a switch, Val was back into business mode. "Oh, you have all the choices in the galaxy, Mister Underhill. Illogical, reckless, all out deadly ones, but choices, all the same," he leaned back in his seat with a low breath. "As for what we do . . . accommodations have been made, on my ship. Whenever you'd like to leave, I'll round up the crew and we'll all get going."
By accommodations, of course, he was referring to Bateman's recently disowned room aboard the Balrog, so far untouched by the crew or himself. Couldn't just let it all go to waste, could he?

As Val tried to explain the Irishman and his eccentricities, Waylon gave Liam a still confused look. But just as quickly as it switched to Liam, his focus switched his focus back to Val.
"I think I've made my fair share of illogical, reckless choices," Waylon said. "Maybe it's time for a change of pace. Do something a little suprising. As for leaving; hey, you're the one in charge, Captain. I think that's up to you to decide."

Bryci laughed, smiling with teeth stained partially by the black ooze seeping from the glass into her face. She crossed her arms and looked, head cocked, at Madigan.
"How did you manage to make space pirates sound incredibly gay?" Bryci asked, smiling, "Must be a real talent."
She slapped the desk, stood up and ruffled the man's hair, before she returned to the bar. Only a few minutes later, she returned with two drinks.
She handed one to the blonde-haired man, and then sat down to drink for herself. She looked at the blonde-haired man, and then to the Captain, to Madigan, even to the hardcore Marine she hadn't had alot of time to speak with, and raised her glass.
"To new friends?" Bryci said, her voice not so confident.

"Sure. There doesn't seem to be much today, anyway." A slight pause as she tried to figure out how best to answer the question. "Well, I haven't been in Omega that long...But from what I can recall it's always been a hive of scum and villainy since it's beyond Citadel space. As for why they haven't tried to clear us out yet...Maybe it'd be too much trouble."

They began walking back to Afterlife, "I hear it was once a mining facility of all things. Started out as people seeking out their fortunes by trying to find element zero. Then it turned into this," she paused for a second and then said, "How about I go ahead while you make arrangements for Pistachio?"
Wyn entered Afterlife again and approached the booth, where she saw the blonde man, "What's going on here?" she asked.

Val's smile once again returned. "I like this Human already," he murmured, giving Elam a pat on the pauldron. "Alert Kryseis and Wyn, we'll be taking off shortly."
"That won't be necessary, Captain," Elam shot back, nodding to the returning crew members affirmatively. "Kryseis, Wyn. We're rollin' out."
"This is Waylon Underhill, ladies," Val said as he rose from his seat in the booth, motioning for the others to do the same. "Our new pointman."

She turned to Waylon, "My name is Wyn'Renza nar Qwib Qwib. I'm the head engineer of the Balrog. Nice to see we're filling up our... vacancy."

"Welcome to the crew, Waylon. Name's Kryseis T'sandros, the Balrog's pilot." Pause. "If you'll excuse me, I need to get to the ship." And with that she excused herself and left Afterlife, stopping to pick up her varren at the entrance before leaving for the docks.

"Yeah, welcome aboard." Bryci cheered, slightly louder than she intended, probably due to the drink, "Try not to end up like the last guy."
She smiled, and cheered, before her words finally clipped her in the back of the head, and with that, she took a depressive turn, her face longing for a second, before she just took a few swigs of her drink.

Waylon took the drink Bryci had given him and returned her "To new friends" toast, quickly downing the drink as Val said it was time to get moving. He nodded to the two ladies as they introduced themselves. They already knew his name and position, and they just gave him theirs, so he didn't feel the need to go any further with introductions. That could wait until they were on the ship.
As he rose up, Waylon looked back at the eccentric Irishman as he talked to him again.
"Thanks, mate," Waylon responded, sincerely. Liam was certainly a character, but he sounded honest and enthusiastic. So the least Waylon could do was reciprocate.
As the tan skinned human woman gave him her best wishes, Waylon looked like he was about to say something, but realized the impact of what she had just said.
"Wait, what? What happened to the last guy? I'm guessing some degree of 'dead as hell', right?"

Wyn glared at Bryci, Keelah woman, at least wait till we're on the ship
" This is a pretty dangerous line of work, so shit happens. I still haven't been told what happened to the Quarian the Captain had before me." She gave a sideways glance to Val.

Val's eyes flashed over to Elam.
The ex-marine took over from there. "One of our men was killed on Illium, not too long ago," he said, more than a trace of forlorn ruefulness in his normally stoic tone. "Less than twenty-four hours ago, as a matter of fact . . ."
Elam's eyes couldn't help but narrow at the back of the Turian captain's head, throwing his long coat over his pearly polished armor as he began to make his way out of the Afterlife club casually. With both his and Wyn's remarks, Val smiled away from their line of sight.
"I haven't much patience to pick up all the slack myself," he drawled indulgently.

Biotic ripples pulsed through her drink as Bryci idly thumbed her drink, pulsations and bubbles forming as biotic tension ripped through it.
With a sigh, she downed the rest of her glass, and looked up at the new guy with a smile, "But hey, you're not like the last guy, right?'
She carefully placed her hood up, shaking her arms out. The unfamiliar territory of the Omega sent justifiable shivers down her spine, and a collaboration between petty thug and groups and the Alliance, or the Citadel, for that matter, could be made.
She had no idea if they were still looking for her, at this point. They could of given up, never would of guessed that the woman with little experienced could become a smuggler, that she was probably dead. She sighed, and followed their 'Glorious Captain' out of the club.

Wyn was glad to get out of Omega, and back in the engine room. But she was unable to focus on the machines.
She thought again about what Liam said. She couldn't get it out of her mind.
"Think of it from a parent's perspective, Wyn. It's better to... well, to have closure than to never know if your only boy was out there somewhere, alive, but never to return to you..."
Wyn knew she didn't want to go back to the Flotilla anytime soon. She wanted to see the galaxy. She had seen a lot of it over the past few years, but she still wasn't ready to go back and live on a ship for the rest of her life. But she also knew her peers were coming back from their Pilgramages, and her parents were getting less and less hopeful that she was safe.
On a whim, she left the engine room and found the Captain. Before she lost her courage she blurted out. "Captain? I hate to bother you, but may I use the secure channel on the ship?" she looked down at the ground, embarrased "I'd... like to contact my mother and father... "

Back on the ship, Kryseis was currently running last minute maintenance checks, making sure all systems were green before they took off while Pistachio napped on the co-pilot's seat. "Wonder what the newbie will be like? What do you think, boy?" The only answer the Asari received was a snore from the varren. Getting up to stretch, she cracked her knuckles before sitting down again. "Well, it seems we'll be heading out soon. Good, I was hoping for some action."
