For those of you with really sharp memories, this is a remake of a older RP that was started during TSv2. I'm trying my hand at it, and it'll be a little different, but if the original poster of the "Pact of the Gods"(you know who you are) would like to chime in with thoughts, I'm welcome to hearing them.
~~~~~~~~~~
Long ago, the world was crafted. The Gods gathered materials from across their cosmos, and mixed them with great skill and patience, thus creating the world. And on this world life was born from their efforts. The life flourished and spread, but the Gods desired more from their creation, and so humans were brought forth from the animals.
For a long time, the Gods were pleased. The humans they loved so grew and prospered, loved and warred, worshiped and blasphemed. They were a grand source of pride and amusement for the Gods, who came to care about their great artwork with a deep love.
And so humanity was given a gift. The very power of the Gods themselves was granted to human kind. The elements that made up the world now bent to the will of the young humans as great mages appeared in their ranks.
But all was not good. Humanity abused it's gift, fighting amongst themselves, growing arrogant and prideful, and even challenging the Gods themselves with their power. A great struggle ensued, as the Gods found what humanity had become right before their eyes, without them ever realizing it.
And so, with a heavy heart, the Gods offered up a pact to the humans. This was the only way that a peace could be made it seemed, short of utterly destroying one another. At first the humans rejected the pact, and the Gods grew angry and defensive, great monsters were born of the struggle and caused terrible uncontrolled havoc. But finally with few left who could wield the power of the Gods on either side of the conflict, the Pact was agreed to.
And so, the last of the Gods of the world created an island, easily accessible by all of humanity, yet distant and removed at the same time. This island was made to be unique, to be a microcosim of the world as a whole, with tall snow capped mountains, lush jungles, sandy dunes, and beautiful streams and lagoons. Here was where the Pact would be consummated.
For each child born with the power of the Gods to bend a single element of nature to their will, a godling will be born as well. The pair will be forever bound together, and grow as a mated soul. On the turn of seasons which holds the day on which this blessed duo reaches their adulthood, when their powers come into full bloom, they will be called away to this island. There they will spend one year of their lives for each of the four elements that make up the world. They will live among others of their kind and not grow arrogant, so that when they return they will not think themselves as gods among humans, but simply as humans blessed by the Gods. After the four years of their life have been given to their education, their lives will once more be their own once more, though they will not be banished from the island, and may live here to teach others who arrive and continue the cycle.
By this time the island has become a paradise, where the general needs of food and such are easily met, and shelter is provided in the form of four great towers near the center of the island, each dedicated to a different element or state of matter. Several former students now act as teachers, and while there is no true formal education going on at this island, students are encouraged to interact with each other and learn from each other, both through cooperation, and competition.
The island itself is also not particularly safe. Students are known to have 'accidents' either in competition with one another, or simply from natural hazards, and as such lost godlings have grown into fierce monsters who roam the island, their intelligence lost when their other half perished(just as when a bonded godling perishes the human half loses their ability to work their gifts)
"Weapons" are forbidden on the island, technically, as you're encouraged to use your magical abilities for self defense. However, quickly constructed(shaping stone into a hammer for example) or "found"(grabbing up a stick to use as a club) weapons can't really be stopped, and in addition students are allowed one 'focus' for their powers, which commonly enough is a weapon the student has been trained in. Some see the forbidding of weapons as a rule instituted by the "headmasters" of Godspact island, rather than by the Gods, particularly considering how many loopholes are present in this particular ruling.
This will be done, hopefully, as a dual RP on two different forums. The two forums will probably not interact much with each other, and the characters involved will be mostly kept apart, but if one of them decides to reshape the island in any way, the other will be made aware of it.
This forum is dedicated to first year students. By this point they have good control over their specialization and are able to perform feats within their element beyond that, but not easily.
Another forum will be dedicated to second year students. By that point they have probably mastered their specialization and are reasonably good within your element, but have not yet begun to utilize more advanced techniques of blending elements together(with or without help from another), fusing with your godling into a monster form, generating your element from your body, or reshaping yourself through your element.
However, these are only guidelines, and while the general rule is "Anything a (year) student can do, a (year+1) student will be able to do more easily" power levels between individuals are not set in stone and nobody learns at the same pace. This isn't even, really, a school. Think of it more as a summer camp, or if you're feeling vindictive boot camp.
Character sheet:
Name:
Age: (the "coming of age" is based on the maturity of their powers, so any ages from the start of puberty upwards would be allowed)
Appearance:
Personality:
Pantheon you believe in: (The Gods are known by many different forms and humanity has never been able to agree on their appearance, so this is how your character was brought up to believe in them as. It can be entirely made up, or drawn from real world myths. Atheism is also allowed, but your godling should still be influenced by cultural myths)
Element: (Earth/Solid, Water/Liquid, Air/Gas, or Fire/Plasma. You only get one, but obviously there's a broad spectrum within those four choices)
Specialization: (Within your element. Flying if your element was Air for example)
Focus: (physical object, usually a weapon, and/or a specific kind of gesture or mantra. These are not needed, but helpful for concentration.)
Godling Companion: (a small mythical creature, related to your element, who acts as your familiar and friend. Include name and appearance and anything else special about them. They are intelligent, and probably able to talk, coming in sizes between "able to hide in your pocket" to "able to carry you with some effort".)
