Pronouncing Ginny's name with an actual G instead of saying "Jenny" basically. The front being pronounced like the beginning of "giddy".
I like it a lot better pronounced that way. > >

The Star Wars prequels. Yeah, maybe they're not as good as the originals. Maybe Anakin is a whiny little bitch. Yeah, Jar Jar is annoying as fuck. Doesn't mean they're not entirely enjoyable films. Obi-Wan is awesome, Darth Maul had a great design, I like Qui-Gon, Yoda was cool, Windu was also awesome and Count Dooku was played by Christopher Lee.
Haters can hate all they like, just don't bitch and whinge to those who do enjoy the films for what they are; fantasy films that probably aren't meant to be taken so seriously.

I like abstinence. 83 I honestly do, though. Dunno why so many people around me are all "I GOTTA GET LAID NAO!" I'm just like "Yeah, whatever. If I ever get married, then I'll get some. I'm not in a hurry."
Kids. I have five nieces and three nephews, and they are so much fun to babysit and play with. I also help my mom with Sunday School and teach kids marine biology over the summer. Yes, sometimes I get annoyed and need to distance myself from kids. But when it comes right down to it, I love 'em.
Puppets. So many people I know are freaked out by puppets. I love puppeteering! I love all the technical aspects of it, as well as actually performing. It's a great way to get out all of your multiple personalities. But seriously, it's actually been a good way for me to work off steam about all the shit that's gone down lately.
Crackshipping. I take none of my ships seriously anymore. Sometimes I pair characters up for the hell of it (like the Adventure Core and the Fact Core...no idea where it came from, but hell I'll ship it). But if someone were to come up to me and say "HEY THIS PAIRING SUCKS," I'd just look at them and be like "Whatevs." I don't understand why people get so uptight about their favorite pairings.
Fish. So many girls I know (hell, even the ones HERE ON THIS MARINE BIOLOGY CAMPUS) hate handling fish. Me? I once tried to pick up and hug an eel that was attacking me. I've patted live and dead fish. I find fish to be almost as cute as kittens.
Whales and whaling. People are all over dolphins, but no one gives whales any love. I love whales! And when I say "whaling," I don't mean that modern shit that's going down. I love the history of whaling, when it was an art form instead of a slaughter. There's a reason why Moby Dick is my favorite book of all time.
Speaking of Moby Dick, I love Herman Melville's books. Most of my friends hate his stuff. We had to read Redburn, one of his lesser-known books, for a literature class...and I was the only one who liked it.
And finally, keeping it cool. A lot of people around me (including my roomate) complain about EVERYTHING. Internet's shit? OH GAWD ITS THE END OF THE WORLD!!! Videogame's lagging? FUCKING BASTARDS I HATE MY LIIIIIFE!!! Me? I don't complain unless it's REALLY pissing me off for whatever reason (for example, I complain that my sister's ex-husband wasn't arrested until half a year after it was revealed he was a pedophile). So I'm pretty laid back, I think.

This reminded me of another thing: if most of my fandoms are anything to go by, I like looking at why I like the newest game/movie/episode/whatever rather than solely dwelling on the negative. Yeah, if it was really bad, I'll complain, but a couple of minor flaws won't affect my love of something.
As usual, I'm looking at you, Pokemon fans who nitpick every last flaw of every new game and how THEYRE RUNNING OUT OF IDEAZ ZOMGOHNOES!!!1111!!!!! and how they changed something minor like not capitalizing every letter in a species's name anymore. Not applying to anyone here, of course- you guys are sane and reasonable.

I myself see no problem with the whole sex thing as long as it doesn't hurt people. Consensuality FTW!

Yeah, if it was really bad, I'll complain, but a couple of minor flaws won't affect my love of something.OMG THIS. A lot of fanbrats were calling Portal 2 the worst game ever because of the Potato Sack ARG that, I'll admit, could've ended better. Also, because HOLY SHIT. IT'S RATED E10+ INSTEAD OF T. THAT MEANS ITS TERRIBLE AND MUST HAVE A LOT OF KIDDY HUMOR IN IT. Uhhh...no. Potato Sack was just an advertisement for Portal 2, not the game itself. And just because the game is E10+ doesn't mean its for kids. Let's take a look, shall we? (Spoiler'd for, well, spoilers) *Old Aperture. Just, old Aperture. The game takes a very Bioshocky turn of events when you enter that area. The atmosphere itself is creepy enough.
*Cave Johnson's story. He starts out happy and excited for his lot in life, ends up dying of moon rock poisoning. It's very haunting to hear this change; some little kid hearing it would probably get scared.
*Caroline. OH MY GOD CAROLINE. She was forced to become a supercomputer (JK Simmons, Cave Johnson's vo, actually refused to read his part of the "putting Caroline in the computer" dialogue because it SOUNDED LIKE RAPE). When GLaDOS realizes this, I actually got so freaked out that I had to stop playing for awhile. God help the child that realizes what's going on.
*Speaking of rape, what did GLaDOS' scream upon getting her head torn off at the beginning remind you of? Yeeeah.
*Wheatley getting crushed. I damn near cried, even if he did show up again shortly afterwards.
*Wheatley's...umm...enthusiastic response to your testing. BITCH JIZZED HIS ROBOT PANTS. There's no getting around it, he's orgasming. Try explaining THAT to your kids.
*"Hell," "damn," "crap," and "oh my god" all pop up. That may seem like no big deal (hell, I'm not complaining), but do those really seem like words that belong in a kid's game?
*I'd also point out that there's something off-putting about GLaDOS' snake-like movements and the frankenturrets' appearances. Nothing too major, but still. Some kids might freak out over it.
The original Portal was rated T, and what was in it? *Blood.
I'm just saying, when your biggest complaint about a game is that OMG THERES NO BLOOD WTF E10+ SUCKS...you need to get out more. ^^ Of course, I got the game for the story. And because, well, it's fucking Portal 2. 83 And I'm a rarity, I actually liked the Potato Sack. It introduced me to The Ball, which is an awesome game.

Everyone has different opinions on things, and that's all well and good. So, here's a list of things I like that everyone else seems to hate. This is just my opinion, of course.
~Naruto. I freaking love this series. I know it has its flaws and plot holes and has gone in directions even I don't like, but you know what? Screw focusing on the negative aspects. I'm sick of negative things like that overshadowing the big picture. I love the series, it will always have a special place in my heart. It has given me a lot and whole newfound appreciation for so many things. I also enjoy a lot of the characters. End of story.
On another note of that, the English dub. I actually really like the dubs. The voices, to me, really fit. Kakashi and Gaara in my opinion fit them perfectly.
~M. Night Shayamalan. I couldn't care less about the movies that were considered bad that he's made. Come on, there are plenty of directors who have made shitty movies and yet have a list of great ones. So why is he so different? He's one of my top favourite directors, and "Signs" happens to be one of my all time favourite movies, and I am not afraid to admit that.
~Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. Yes, I am admittedly disappointed by some aspects of it, ESPECIALLY the Ice World...but, for the most part in a lot of ways, it's fantastic.
~Kristen Stewart. I actually really like her. I have to admit I'm sick of the constant hatred thrown at her as if she was the scum of the earth. But, I'm not going to rock the boat or cause a scene about it. My opinion lies in the fact I like her. End of story.
~Silent Hill 4: The Room. Like with SM, I love this game. It was the game that actually got me into the Silent Hill franchise, and it's fantastic. Yes, I recognize the flaws and I wish it would be remade so that it would be more complete, but, in some ways, for what it is, it's great. And TEN TIMES BETTER than the stupid movie and the shitty comics and arcade game.
~Nickelback. I really can't say I understand the hatred they've been getting lately. I mean, I admit that their latest album isn't my favourite, yes, but I still love them. Their songs are great. Now I don't deem them as Rock star Gods or legends, but I think they're a great band. End of story.
And that's it for now! More later. X3

"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." It's good, pulpy fun, much like the other three films. I never understood complaints like, "it's too over the top with the fridge and the nucular explosion" if one can cope with a thousand year old crusader, hearts being ripped through chests via dark voodoo, YHWH melting the faces of Nazis, etc. Or for that matter, why people felt the aliens to be "un-Indiana Jones-y" since it further contributes to the lost Robert Howard short story feel of the whole franchise to me.

Sucker Punch, I was expecting to not like it but I thought it was awesome. It feels like only me and my boyfriend think so though.
Browsing back a bit has made me decide to also mention my love for cranberry juice. I fucking love cranberry juice.

A couple of "emo" bands. No, I'm not talking about Fail Out Boy, Pooping! at the Disco, My Chemical Bromance or whatever is slapped with that tag by brain-dead scene kids. I mean stuff like Rites of Spring and Cap'n Jazz. Some really solid material that had the misfortune of being stuck within a genre that, despite starting out with the best intentions, degraded beyond utter crap and straight into an extradimensional plane of so-bad-it's-horrible-ness.

While I do like Naruto, I also dislike a lot of it. The constant ass-pulls, Sasuke's God-modding, a lot of characters seem flat to me (Sakura, for instance. Her family is never mentioned! She's just there to fill the gap), a lot of the characters annoy me, the storyline has gone all over the place and the fandom. Dear Lord, the fandom. I mean, I can understand being all fangirly over things; just look at me and my Hetalia obsession. But this fandom is just nuts.

Naruto starts fighting somebody! They fight! Naruto asks why they're such a douche / why they work for so-and-so-baddie! Epic, annoying flashback in the middle of fight, detailing how awful, etc. their life has been! More fighting! Naruto has epic WE CAN ALL BE FRIENDS~~ I WAS JUST LIKE THAT YOU'RE NOT ALONE~~ speech! Fight ends with Naruto pulling some *new! never before seen!* technique that beats the other person completely! After they're done fighting, they now become friends / the person is less angsty!

<__<*Shrugs* Think what you prefer. Those are your opinions and I respect them. I'm just simply stating that I enjoy the series and don't let the negative aspects overshadow my love for it. That's all. Sorry, I'm not really in the mood to debate right now. ^^; Anyway... More stuff. ~Dane Cook. Sure, either you like him or you don't, of course. But I personally love him. Yes, the jokes themselves aren't meant to be funny or punchlines, but the way they're worded and delivered is just hilarious. I can't help but enjoy them! XD So no, I don't think he's the greatest thing in comedy since sliced bread, but I enjoy him and his stuff. ~Reading. ...Seriously. It's like everyone sees reading as a huge horrible thing to do these days. WTF? ._. ~Country life. It's not for everyone, but those who like it and adapt to it well, by all means let them. Not everyone dreams of living in the city and being an urbanist, you know. But hey, on the other hand, both lifestyles definitely have their own sets of ups and downs, so neither is perfect. ~Helping people. I really don't understand. How have we as society become so selfish and self-entitled? People who need help aren't asking you to be Superman. They just need generosity. ~Rules. Without order, there is chaos. Order and freedom definitely go hand in hand, and need a balance of both to work properly. Just saying...XDXDXD ~Jaws 2. ...And no, I definitely do NOT mean the other two shitty sequels. Granted, Jaws 2 is not as good as the original and suffers its problems, INCLUDING unlikable and annoying supporting characters. But there was a lot I did like about it, and it is definitely much better sequel than 3 and 4. I wish they had stopped after two. Because then it would've been a masterpiece, and a not-as-good-but-could-be-worse sequel, which I think would've been better. But anyway, I like Jaws 2 and it is definitely the better sequel. ~Disney. It's becoming SO taboo to like Disney these days. D: Yes, I understand a lot of the tough problems and other things they've done, but I still love it and respect it. Especially the movies from our childhoods. Like someone else said here on TS...I forget who, sadly, try focusing on the story told and the fun it all has rather than the stupid little details. Hell, my favourite movie of all time is "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey", and that was a Disney live action film! ~Grown Ups. I'll admit, it's not a masterpiece, it's nothing special, and I can make quite a list of things I DIDN'T like about the film...but it definitely isn't horrible. It was a little lazy and needed some work here and there, as well as Chris Rock to have more screen time...but overall, I did like the movie and I just have a huge soft spot for the actors. XDXDXD I can't help it. That does make me a bit biased, yes, but I fully admit to the problems with the film, but I do still like it. ~Juno. Yet another movie! Once again, even this movie has some problems and should've been tweaked, but you know what? I really liked this movie. Ellen Page played a great teenage girl going through a tough time, and I always love Jennifer Garner, she was great in this. OwO And dude, J.K. Simmons...I just love him. XD He's the best. Michael Cera was so cute. >w< Anyway though, I really did like this movie, even if I wished they focused more on the aftermath of the adoption and even some more build up between Paulie and Juno, and some other things...but for what it is, it was pretty good, in my opinion.

I bought Sunny Day Real Estate's "Diary" a couple months back, and I kinda like it, surprisingly. They remind me of a non-progressive, non-trippy version Porcupine Tree somehow. I'll vehimately second this. Living in the city or suburbs gradually drains the life from my veins. To quote a wise man, "I don't want anything to do with you or the thoroughly sick world you live in. Count me out. I am going home, to the Norwegian countryside, to the wilderness and fresh air, to a healthy farm-life and Mother Earth's embrace. You can have your plagued urban brothel and your sick mongrel hell on earth to yourself." - Varg Vikernes.

OwO <3 Both lifestyles have their pros and cons. So neither one is better than the other. We just view them differently and have different sets of wants and needs, and we have to decide which one meets them best. To have a good balance, best of both worlds. Why not? But for me, personally, I want life in the country. :3 I want to be close to nature. Then there are people who prefer an urban life. All the more power to them! I do have one more thing to add to the thread. OwO ~Dr. Pepper. It's kind of like Root Beer (which I don't like xD), isn't it? You either love it or hate it. XD I love Dr. Pepper, but I don't like Root Beer.

Britney Spears. At work the other day everyone is going on and on about Pink (who is huge in Australia) and they ask me what I think of her and I said "She's ok but I'm not into her, I like Britney Spears". I then had to endure a massive lecture on how Pink is the best singer ever and she can do amazing concerts while singing live. It's all in good fun but I wish people would let me get my Britney on lol.
Also Paris Hilton. I am a MASSIVE fan of hers, seriously I spent $120 on a frist hand signature of hers on ebay and I have so many of her products/movies/etc. I follow everything to do with her and just love her. I can't open my mouth to say anything about her though. I still do because I don't really care but it gets a bit old with all the hate sometimes. I hate having to explain myself about it all the time. My sister even has a dress of hers (one she owned and wore) we are big big fans.

Sometimes I just want to say what I feel about whatever and then be done with it. I mean, yes, if I make a mistake or something is flawed, I do want it to be pointed out so that I can fix it, but that's about it. Sometimes I just don't want to debate! It's like you said, "I'm not trying to convince anyone of my opinion...so you're arguing with me WHY?" So there. x3 Point is, sometimes we just want to say what we feel about whatever and then be done with it.

I'll probably be lynched for saying this, but I seem to be the only person on this website to like Juno. :/
I can understand why most people dislike it, but the reasons why I'm hearing people dislike it is mostly because they hate the actors in it, and they've either only seen the first hour, or refuse to see it all together. Which, I find kinda insulting. Yes, I agree, the first hour is slow and rather lame, and some of the characters are annoying. But, it spans farther than just ' 16 and pregnant;hipster addition', especially towards the end of the movie. Believe it or not, dilemmas do arise, and there are heart-touching moments.
Gah, I find myself sounding like those Twilight fans that say, don't judge the book without reading it... -shoots self-

^ I like Juno too, so you're not the only one. I thought it was a good movie. I don't think you should feel like you'll be lynched for saying that, it's personal taste after all.

I'll probably be lynched for saying this, but I seem to be the only person on this website to like Juno. :/ I made a post saying I hate that film and two people agreed with me, yeah, but I hardly think that means it’s wildly unpopular here, especially given its near universal acclaim in most circles - it made a huge profit and it found its way onto a bunch of top ten lists for 2007. I realize we’re speaking in broad terms here, but I’ve given a variety of reasons why I hate that movie, and Michael Cera was the only cast member anyone mentioned hating anyways. For instance, I found the dialogue not nearly as witty as advertised and striking unfunny at times, its treatment of teen pregnancy was laughably flippant when it was supposed to be one of those “real” movies, I can’t root for the protagonist in the slightest because she’s a stuck-up, pretentious douchebag, and there was no detectable compelling story arc developing. Actually, I even admitted there was a possibility the film could redeem itself in my other post, albeit sarcastically. There’s always that possibility in a technical sense. I quit watching Epic Movie after ten minutes a few years back, and for all I know it could have developed into an enriching cinematic masterpiece full of vivid characters, thrilling plot twists, complex moral conundrums, etc. However, I found that possibility unlikely, so I tapped out. Similarly, I hated “Juno” too much to finish watching it. It didn’t seem like it was going anywhere fast and I would rather do something else with my free time, so that’s what I did. Even if the film suddenly did drastically redeem itself to a degree no film had ever changed course before (which is what it would have to have done to become at least a likable film in my eyes), that’s still no excuse for the first hour being such an agonizing spectacle to behold. That’s precisely when you’re supposed to suck the audience in so they’ll actually want to see the rest of the film anyways. As a side note, I absolutely loved “Superbad” even though Cera stared more prominentin that film than “Juno,” so it’s not like my personal dislike for him as an actor necessarily governs my views of certain films. Agreed, yo.

I didn't hate Juno but the portrayal of the abortion clinic didn't rub off well on me. It felt really biased.

@yog: I saw the movie all the way through at the behest of my then-fiancée. What occurred in the latter part of the movie didn't come close to the miraculous turn-around it would require for you to think the movie was worth it.

Agreed on country life. I don't mind visiting the city, but it's so crowded and you don't even get a little privacy. I have always lived in more rural areas and would rather stick my little towns than live in more urban places. Although, my little town has become more urban each year...
