In short, this is a detective noir game. You play a freelance detective who is delivered that letter. Being down on your luck, you're going to go. Once there, you will find others like you, given the same letter- and then from the darkness, a dark, one-armed man will give you your mission. The only question is: will you join with the others and split the money equal shares... or will you race against them to take it all by yourself? Suspects names bolded. A- St. Augustine’s Church of Fundamentalism- A small, hole-in-the-wall, unimposing, unsuspecting, unimportant, unknown, unremarkable little church… that just so happens to house a speakeasy in the back. The only place in town where a guy can pop in for a good drink and a glance at a statue of God, no questions asked. B- Harold’s Automotive- A used car shop. Seems shady. Harold passed away some time ago- the salesman there now is Frederick Johnson, the victim’s uncle. He’s a sleazebag with a big ego. C- Gable City Prison and Criminal Justice- The city’s legal system, all in one massive, spreading building. You can talk to convicts and find criminal records on people in here. D- 627 Haven Parkway- The victim’s home. At here you will easily be able to find Morton Montgomery, the victim’s father, and Quinten Montgomery, the victim’s younger brother. E- Urving Industries- The local factory in which most people are employed- a paper mill. The victim’s father co-owns it. F- Kilowatt- The largest grocery and convenience store. Close to the victim’s school. Her boyfriend, Tommy Rockefeller, works here as the overnight clerk. G- Gable City Hospital and Mortuary- Exactly what it says on the tin. You can get medical records and the reports from the victim’s autopsy here. H- The Smoky Den- A cabaret, though that’s really secretive. It is, for the most part, a music and theater house, for poetry slams and performances. Sexy poetry slams and performances. You can find Jade Smarring here, the victim’s mother. I- Open 24/7- Known simply by the single, lonesome sign standing beside the six gas pumps, this place is the only other gas station in town that isn’t at Kilowatt. J- Perry and Jane’s- The hangout of choice for the kids. Contains an arcade, a diner area (both inside and out), and a movie theater. This is the victim’s former workplace, and is run by Naomi Ferris.K- Pricklepear’s Wonder Emporium- A running-down zoo and museum mashup. Was the victim’s favorite place to go, up until the age of sixteen when she suddenly stopped going, and wouldn’t talk about it past that. Management is scarce. Animals are too. L- 836 Kipling Drive- The victim’s mother’s house. Where you can catch her if she isn’t at The Smoky Den. M- 463 Yonder Boulevard- This is the house of Myra Long, the victim’s best friend. N- Gable University- The victim’s university- where she spent most of her days before work. Professor Anna Hopkins seems to know a lot about her. O- Gable Elementary- The victim’s little brother’s school. NAME: AGE: APPEARANCE: BIO:

People in the setting:
The Victim- Karen Young, age 19. Found dead at Open 24/7 by Reverend Blake, the minister of St. Augustine's, who was immediately taken into custody for questioning.
NAME: Frederick Johnson AGE: 51 APPEARANCE: A middle aged man, thin and spindly, balding severely- has a combover of lightening brown hair. Always smiling. BIO: The victim's uncle, a sleazebag in every sense of the word.
NAME: Reverend Blake AGE: 72 APPEARANCE: An older man, quiet and shaky, soft-spoken. Has very little gray hair left, and sunspots on his scalp. He is beginning to blind slightly. BIO: The minister of St. Augustine's, who is much more than he appears at first. When in the speakeasy he and his wife run, he has a much more commanding presense- though, this is also noted by attending his sermons. He is now in custody for questioning on the murder of Karen, whom he found at the Open 24/7.
NAME: Morton Montgomery AGE: 47 APPEARANCE: A tall man with curly black hair that goes nearly to his shoulders, with scruffy facial features. Has a large nose between two dark eyes, and is almsot always scowling. BIO: Karen's father. He's a jerk and a control freak. Many people do not trust him because of this. He is ont he verge of losing his job as co-owner of Urving Industries.
NAME: Quinten Montgomery AGE: 10 1/2 APPEARANCE: Short blonde hair, blue eyes, and soft features. He is always wearing a suit. BIO: Quinten is stuffy, rich, spoiled, and a complete brat. Loved by his father, and treated his sister Karen like a servant.
NAME: Tommy Rockefeller AGE: 23 APPEARANCE: A dreamboat. Tall-esc (6'0) gentle but rugged features, short and messy brown hair, eyes that 'look like the world' (as Karen and his ex girlfriends would describe him), and a general happy, jokester air. BIO: Karen's boyfriend, who works at Kilowatt. He plays guitar and sings for his band 'The High Rollers.'
NAME: Jade Smarring AGE: 41 APPEARANCE: The spitting image of an older Karen- Tall for a girl at 5'10, dark hair, gently pointed features, though hers are all a big softer and grayer now. BIO: Jade sings at The Smoky Den. Karen hasn't lived with her since she was twelve. A woman of little words.
NAME: Naomi Ferris AGE: 26 APPEARANCE: Stands are 5'10, like Karen, Naomi is Asian and has features that fix in rather well thereof- small, sloping dark eyes, a small nose, a small mouth, high cheek bones. She has a birthmark a few centimeters away from the right side of her mouth, a sort of low Marylin Monroe. BIO: Naomi runs Perry and Jane's, and was the boss over Karen. They seemed to have a bit of a rivalry.
NAME: Myra Long AGE: 17 APPEARANCE: She's short, standing at 5'1, with short black hair in a bob and olive-esc skin. She has big, dark brown eyes and a small mouth. Think, for those of us outside of the story, of Chel from Road to El Dorado with shorter hair. BIO: Myra was Karen's best friend. She was younger than her, still going to high school. Myra's a bit sassy but mostly just sweet.
NAME: Anna Hopkins AGE: 30 APPEARANCE: Anna stands at 5'7, with curvy freatures and medium-length reddish brown hair, usually kept in a tight Cinderella-esc bun at the top of her head. She has dark eyes and a Marylin Monroe. Due to this whole fiasco, it seems like she's aged years in only days. BIO: Anna was Karen's university teacher, and was rather close to her, helping tutor her after school until Karen went off to her work and then home.
Non-suspects, but people of interest nonetheless:
NAME: Martha Blake AGE: 68 APPEARANCE: An unimposing woman at 5'2, Martha has grayed blonde hair and blue eyes, and is slightly plump. She looks strong, nonetheless, and is what many would have considered to have been a pioneer woman. BIO: Reverend Blake's wife. She runs the speakeasy as a bartender.
NAME: Diane Johnson AGE: 28 APPEARANCE: Diane stands at 5'7, with dark hair that reaches her chest, flipping slightly at the ends. She's basically what many would consider a sex symbol- curves in all the right places, big lips, a small nose... that sort of thing. BIO: Frederick Johnson's beautiful young wife. Bubble-headed.
NAME: Dean Cooper AGE: 21 APPEARANCE: Dean is a gangly, shy-looking young man, standing at 6'3. He has cropped dishwater blonde hair, brown eyes, and a large nose. BIO: Pricklepear Emporium's manager of sorts. Used to be very close to Karen.
NAME: Rodger Urving AGE: 73 APPEARANCE: A portly old man with a large white mustache, balding, with tufts of white hair. Has poor eyesight, and thus wears small spectacles. BIO: The founder and owner of Urving Industries, and the only one above Mr. Montgomery.
NAME: Andrew Lloyd AGE: 38 APPEARANCE: Darker skinned, often wears sunglasses. He has black hair in a ponytail, and a goatee on his face. He's short, being only about 5'4, and stocky. BIO: The bassist at The Smoky Den. He hears all, he sees all, he knows all.
NAME: Gerold Faulkner, M.D AGE: 49 APPEARANCE: A middle-aged asian man, stands at 5'8 or so. He has short black hair and dark eyes. He has a strong build. BIO: The doctor who was on shift when Karen was brought in.
NAME: Jeremy Ranner AGE: 42 APPEARANCE: Jeremy stands at 5'9, with strong arms and legs but little else of substance to him. Thick brown hair, brown eyes, and a fluffy mustache. BIO: The police chief.
NAME: Rhonda Bing AGE: 35 APPEARANCE: Rhonda is a nervous woman, standing at 5'5, with very little meat on her bones- looking like any stray wind could blow her away. She has red hair piled up into a bun on top of her head, and thick-rimmed glasses. BIO: Teaches fourth grade at Gable Elementary, and thus teaches Quinten Montgomery.

NAME: Marwan Ramzi AGE: 45 APPEARANCE: BIO: Born in a small third world country, torn apart by war, poverty, and civil strife, Marwan came from a relatively well-off family; which is to say, he didn't have to march off to war whenever the newest child soldier legion rolled through, his house was the hardest to knock down with a few big rocks and some kindling, and he could read. Marwan's parents knew full well they could not continue to raise their child here; not with the prospect of death and destruction breathing down their necks. So, with so backroom haggling and a whole lot of appealing to the better natures of friendlier folk, Marwan was pressganged into an arranged marriage with a girl named Mariyah, their neighbor's daughter who he didn't particularly care for. This marriage, financially speaking, was made in heaven; Mariyah came from even more wealth than Marwan, and with their meager fortunes combined, they could be afford a college education in America - which they took to with relative ease. However, while Mariyah got her medical doctorate and became a nurse at a ritzy hospital in the city, Marwan struggled to get by, attempting (and subsequently flunking) out of law school, working odd jobs here and there while Mariyah brought home the bacon. Along the way, Marwan became something of a 'private eye' for hire; mostly nosy neighbors wanting to spy on their friends next door and grieving housewives wanting to prove their husbands were cheaters. He found that he was pretty good at it, too. So, after taking out a loan and hoping for the best, he managed to purchase his own office at the local strip mall, his own 'Private Detective Agency'. Soon after, however, his thirty year marriage to Mariyah, already on distant terms, crumbled, and their divorce was swift and relatively painless, beyond the financial grievances he now suffers.

NAME: Stan Kirby AGE: 67 APPEARANCE: images.allmoviephoto.com/2003_The_League_of_Extraordinary_Gentlemen/2003_lxg_012.jpgBIO: Detective Kirby is a retiring detective. He's been doing the job for a little under 40 years now, deciding to hang up the coat to move out of state. ...Preferably somewhere that's much warmer, but that's beyond the point. With the letter, he's delayed this ambition a bit for one last case, along with getting the money. A man of few words, though when he does speak, he shows a marginal fondness of trying to lighten the mood with some unrelated banter.

NAME: John Wallcrest AGE: 52 APPEARANCE: Tall, slim body bordering on the disturbing. Dark hair, wears glasses. He tends to dress in a black suit and tie, though it's somewhat worn and shows sign that he's had it for years. BIO: John was a police investigator for the longest time, but rumors of corruption led him to leaving the force. Some say in disgrace(though anyone who knows him from that time would say "disgust" is more apt). He went on to be a private investigator, and tinker with his own personal inventions and gadgets(most of which are more interesting than functional).
WIP... I guess... eh I've filled everything out, so it good?

NAME: Ari Rosenbloom AGE: 30 APPEARANCE: Shorter than most, standing at only 5'2". A slim, effeminate figure. Short, curly, dark brown hair. Wears cheap suits and a sweet fedora; is never seen without a trusty pack of Marlboro cigarettes. BIO: In these new times, women were supposedly becoming more mannish. Ari just took this one step further. After her mom died in a factory incident, her dad went a little crazy, going on drinking binges every payday. She would always make sure she was in bed, either asleep or pretending to be, by the time he got home on these days, because otherwise he would hit her, cursing at her in Yiddish claiming she was useless. As soon as she could find a decent job, she left home. Only thing was, women couldn't get decent jobs. She couldn't find something that would allow her to pay the rent on her own. So when she was seventeen, she "borrowed" one of her dad's suits to interview for a secretary job at a detective agency. And lo and behold, she got it. Ari enjoyed the feeling of being taken seriously, and soon her habit of dressing in men's attire stretched beyond just the workplace. He came to think of himself as a man rather than a woman. He ascended quickly through the ranks at the agency, proving to be quite good at detective work. He recently broke off from the agency, setting up his own private business.

NAME: Benjamin J. Cleaver.
AGE: 37.
APPEARANCE: A head above most, Benjamin is a stocky, wiry character who hides his strength born from years of martial prowess under a tanned complexion, shaggy black hair, stuck out ears and intelligent, aqua eyes.
He usually wears a flannel, checkered blue and white shirt, with suspenders underneath a slightly tanned and muddied brown jacket, with form-fitting black pants that are muddied as well with some dress shoes that are muddied beyond belief and has a small tattoo on his wrist that has faded from failure to take care of it.
Carries a shoulder-holster for his M911, and two magazines in a side-pouch on his breast pocket. Carries a fake police badge from an out-of-state department.
BIO: Born to a middle-class family, Benjamin grew up military. Father, referred to as Captain, was always his idol, and always his biggest hurdle in life. He spoke of what 'war' was really like, and would constantly do so with a bottle in one hand, and the TV-Remote in the other.
He grew up resenting his mother whom left him, and being the oldest of two brothers, him being the oldest and the only to actually have met their mother at some point in their lives, took to taking care of his brothers by proxy instead of his deadbeat father.
He left at the age of seventeen for the Marines to take a mouth to feed away from their family, whom was gradually declining to living in squalor, as prices of living go up, and their dead beat father's well-being goes down. He sends all of his paychecks to a joint bank account for his brother.
His prospects looked good, until a joint-operation in Afghanistan left him without a significant portion of his vision in his left-eye, effectively destroying his career as a Force Recon Sniper, and he was forced to be sent home. He turned to drinking, then rehab, until a stable job working as a private detective with his brother, whom relays information and intelligence, kept him grounded.
However, this... note, disturbs him, but excited him with the prospects of using his skills and intelligence to solve a case. Especially his intelligence.

Change a couple parts- try to make the clothes more retro, and two rehabs might be a bit much. Cut out the drugs and maybe make him a little bit older, and we'll be good.
