I haven't read it, but I'm thinking of buying it and I want opinions of fellow readers whose opinions I trust before I dive into this book. Reviewers, I found, are either hit or miss on whether or not I agree with them so I'd rather turn to you guys.
So what do you think of this book, if you've read even snippets of it?

I've read a few chapters and, tbh, I was a little taken aback by the references to sex and the swearing that went on. Very mature compared to Harry Potter *ironic silence*

Well, it is aimed at adults while Harry Potter is more for children and the people who grew up along with it. But how is it, writing quality wise?

I've also been wanting to read this, but I've kind of been a little intimidated by it. They say it's way more depressing than any of the HP books. Plus there's no super powers, which is always depressing.

I'm not afraid of the book being totally different from the HP series. JK Rowling might need to do something completely different after writing HP for all these years. I just want to know how the writing quality is.

Oh I agree that it's good for her that she's moving outside of Harry's world, it just kind of intimidates me with it supposeed to be very depressing and no magic/superpowers.
As for quality, I've only read reviews. Some of them are glowing while others hated it. From what I've read from reviews, I would probably like it if I could get past the realistic aspect.

^That's why I don't listen to the reviewers. They're really polarized.

I think the trouble is her readers have grown to expect magic AND mayhem instead of just mayhem. Writing-wise, it shifts between the various characters and changes depending on the perspective you're reading.

^^^ I wanted to really like this book but from the first couple of chapters I've read, it's been boring as hell

I read it: the book has a slow start but it gets betters. I admit that I was laughing at some parts of it because of the situation. But I have to admit, I was a wreck after ending it. It's very heavy on many theme (which don't bother me) but it can be exhausting and emotional.
