Good evening, my fellow role-players and whatever the hell it is you do around here, Al. This is President Stevenson.
Okay, real-talk, I've been considering entering the most recent RP contest with an idea that I've held near and dear to my heart for awhile now: an Avatar: The Last Airbender Roleplay. I'd been playing around with the idea and ideas like it for a long time (almost scrapped Terminus for it, as a matter of fact), and with the incentive presented, I'd very much like to commit to one.
I have three ideas for an RP set in the Avatar universe; two in the era of The Last Airbender, and one is set in the era of Legend of Korra. I, for one, would enjoy doing all of them, and can't decide for the life of me which one to draft up and create here. So, I leave the choice to you guys.
#1: At the height of The Hundred Year War, the great, destructive conflict of total domination wrought by the mighty Fire Nation against the world, there are those who fight back against their oppressors, the brave, spirited few taking a stand against the seemingly unstoppable goliath of war. One such band of freedom fighters is hidden deep within the wilderness between the warring Fire and Earth Kingdoms, where few men have trodden the paths untaken, deep in the virgin wild. This ragtag gang has seen much better days; morale is low, and the majority of their force are young refugees, their homes, families, lives unjustly taken from them by the chaos of war. They live for two things: fighting off the Fire Nation, and survival. As dark as these days are, however, a glimmer of hope still shines in the horizon; there is talk, rumors on the wind, really, of a new hope from the South Pole . . . a little boy who came out of an iceberg.
Basically, we play this gang of guerrillas, rebelling against the Fire Nation to reclaim our lost homeland; along the way, the story of The Last Airbender will catch up to us, and we will venture beyond, to the walls of Ba Sing Se, the forsaken Si Wong desert, and perhaps the heart of the Fire Nation itself.
#2: Ba Sing Se: the Impenetrable City. The capital of the mighty Earth Kingdom. Its last great stronghold in the Great War. At the height of the Hundred Year War, thousands upon thousands of people - refugees of the Fire Nation's destructive conflict - have flocked to the great walled city, in hopes of a new beginning; in hopes of a better tomorrow.
In this RP, our cast is made up of anyone; long-time residents of the city, refugees from all sides of the globe, wayward travelers looking for safety from the war outside the walls. A very relaxed setting, character-driven plot, much like PercentiledOne's Triumph City.
#3: Years after the end of the Great War, and a decade before the arrival of the newest Avatar, Republic City is the grandest metropolis in the modern era; the brainchild of the once embattled Avatar Aang and Fire Lord Zuko, forged from the fires of war and raised in the hopes of everlasting peace, forevermore. However, not all is well in Republic City; with the death of Police Chief Toph Beifong, the bender gang problem has grown unchecked, with rampant violence plaguing the streets, the underworld of organized crime swiftly bubbling up from where it was once cast down. Not only that, but the spirit of discontent lingers, and the animosity between benders and non-benders is beginning to reach a breaking point.
Here, we play as people of Republic City, living the everyday struggle as the pieces are placed for the events of Legend of Korra.
