...WhoooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo...[/i]
Breathing heavily, she stepped out from the building, casting fervid glances around. The sirens were screeching all around, deafening even above the screams of people sprinting down her street. Some tried taking shelter in buildings, others jumped from their windows only to fall against the ground, broken irrevocably and trampled to their final death underneath the crowds of people. She herself was shoved aside by a tall man and a pregnant young woman, both running for their lives and paying no heed to the policemen and various people hanging from windows, shouting down not to go that way.
Everyone was too terrified to look up at the once blue sky, that let through warmth and light from the sun. For as far as their eyes could see there was only a horrible darkness, darker than the blackest night, with huge artificial lamps pouring down on them like spotlights. To whatever was in the massive contraption, they must have looked like ants- and the creatures were the little boys holding magnifying glasses to the sun.
She stepped back inside, running to the back door and looking out, seeing the same darkness above and the same amount of people running through, for the next two streets before it thinned out to almost nothing.
She looked back around the room. The people, mostly children now, hiding and crying underneath seats and tables, just trying to stay hidden in the dark room. Her eyes couldn't see them all with the lights off as they were now, but she could hear them now that the doors were closed and the sirens were muffled.
"Follow me," She said finally, going to each area in the room to grab them.
There were ten floors. This wasn't a fire- they were, as far as she knew, in no danger of the elevators being cut, and if something happened to the upper floors, the stairs would be of no help. So they were crammed into the elevator, and up, up, up they went until it dinged and they poured out into a long hallway, and eventually to a room with a large window.
With the help of a young boy, the window was punched out. The buildings in this area were stacked tight, barely ten feet apart. This would be a stretch... but it'd be the only way they could have a chance without being tramped by crowds, if all things went right. She put everyone to work, taking apart the beds to make a long rope, taking apart metals from tables and hangers and everything they could get their hands on. It wasn't much, it really wasn't, but what chance did they have? She tied the two devices together, and swung it out the window. It latched onto the far ledge. A good tug made certain it was there, snug and tight.
The older ones went first, all but her, then the children. Some of the older kids took along a few of the really little ones who wouldn't have been able to hold on very well, and she herself carried a baby in a carrier around her chest, straining to keep them both up. They repeated the journey twice, and finally stood on a building where they could run down and leave through the front door, running against the current the others had gone in.
There was a crash and horrible, agonizing screams somewhere behind them. She pushed the children on, passing the baby to one of the older kids as she shouted directions for them.
Another crash. She lagged behind, losing breath. She leaned down, holding her knees and trying to gain her breath again as the kids ran on, a few looking back.
The third, this one closer than any of the others. She shouted for them to keep running, keep going until they saw no more of this, until they were beyond the hills and into the vast expanse of the desert.
She didn't hear the fourth.
So the question is, are these kids going to make it to their destination- past the desert and to the far away capital city, where they can get help for their hometown to defend against these otherworldly invaders?
Alright. So this is actually a relatively unique - for TS, that is - take on RPing. I have a few characters figured out for this RP- but you'll be the ones playing them (don't get me wrong, I'm playing too!). What happens? You just say in here if you want an adult or a child. Children will allow you to have MUUUCH more freedom with this, as there are only three adult characters to play. For those who say they want an adult, I'll give you the character I feel you could play the best. As for the kids, I might give you a simple thing- basically just something like 'a teenage boy' or 'an adorable little girl who can kick your ass' (which is soooo one I'm giving out FYI xD). You figure out everything else about the character, using the typical bio.
