I could only read the first book. Typical, formulaic YA paranormal romance. I hated the constant name-dropping when it came to fashion and bands (yes, we get it, you're a cool kid for listening to the Strokes). The names were fucking weird and I felt this was like Twilight if all the characters outright admitted they were a bunch of stuck-up rich snobs.

Yeah it pretty much got worse as it progressed: Characters with NO chemistry fell in "love", Random people would turn evil, there was no clear objective or rules just confusing narration divided between a bunch of 2 dimensional idiots, NO foreshadowing, creepy Gary stu for the love interest and dull-as-hell antagonist. Yeah...Cruz made SATAN boring. Blech.

Sounds like I got out in time. The biggest problem was how boring it was. I recall reaching a passage in the first book where the main character is doing a photo shoot. Not because she's a model or wants to be a model; the scene simply existed to show how hot she was and to show up the typical bitchy blond. There was barely any plot or tension to begin with, and yet the whole book has to grind to a halt for this utterly ludicrous and obviously unnecessary photo shoot. Like a poorly written fanfic.
Also, the main character just kinda floats around in this plot-less vacuum for the entire book. She seemed to have no motivation or actual desire for anything. All I can remember of her is that weird fucking name and how she was 'hot but didn't know it' like all YA paranormal romance heroines.

Schuyler (sky-lur...yeah I know, confusing) had potential because she was at least polite and quiet as opposed to the torrent of egotistical arrogance from other leading teen girls, but it just went nowhere. Her niceness was made worthless because she never really stood up for herself or took on any real leadership qualities. Her taste in men was also beyond awful: jack force the arrogant, incestuous creeper that treats his women like call girls and dates the daughter of his ex-crush. Schuyler actually had chemistry with Oliver but Cruz turned him into an unlikeable ponce...again I say blech.
