(AKA Origins)
For as far back as human conscious goes, there have been legends.
Legends foretelling the rise of machines, of cities; legends of gods walking among men; legends of beasts tall as mountains. Legends, told as memoirs and recollections, and passed on for centuries or into oblivion, that blur and blend into the cultures of the world.
To all but the young and the gullible, these legends of heroes are just that - legends, and nothing more. The day machines rose and agriculture faded, it was thought an eerie coincidence. After all, such things as gods among men and giant beasts cannot be true. Everyone knows that impossibilities remain impossible, even as humans take to the skies...
Cut to late July 1947, a large town on the west coast called Pandora City that is currently in the stages of ushering science throughout the world. In the wake of World War II, national esteem, hopes, conformity and economy are as high as the infamous prejudices of the time. Nearing the apex of summer, the coast comes under a massive heatwave and drought, burn bans in effect for months, with no end in sight. Of course, some people WERE able to maneuver around the bans and set off fireworks, and to them it seemed like they were much brighter than last year. They chalked it up to the heat.
The world goes in many cycles, as most people know. But here, in Pandora City, several cycles synced up at once. One cycle, however, made much more of a difference than the others...
The magic came back.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, basically, this is an 'origins of TC' story. Magic has faded into obscurity in the universe as the cycle had drifted into a low point, and now it has reached its first peak in ages. Giant bugs begin to turn up, increasing in size rapidly; what we would call fairy tales or mythical beings begin to crop up all throughout our world; some people go insane, and begin to work on finding a way to harvest the magic for their own purposes.
Pandora City is the epicenter of activity. Due to this, the military is deployed to help sort out the situation.
Our story starts with a hectic evacuation that goes horribly wrong very fast...
Reminder: We start out as normal humans, and gain powers LATER in the RP.
NAME: Ramona Alicia Randall - Mona
AGE: 14
APPEARANCE:
imageshack.us/a/img27/6108/cuf4.png (her typical wear for this heat)
imageshack.us/a/img833/5493/mcy7.png (she brought winter clothes, 'just in case')
BIO: Mona is the only daughter (with three older brothers) of a wealthy shopkeeper and his wife. Despite being one of the darkest kids in her school, she's quite popular, and, as a teenager, considered quite a bombshell. She isn't sure they're going to come back home after the evacuation, so she brought along a bunch of things she enjoys and can't live without, and ended up packing a few things of her brothers' as well.
EQUIPMENT: A hefty satchel (bigger than in the picture). In it are a few changes of clothes, including winter ones, and a few scant food items (candy and the like). She also brought along her older brother's boyscout book on how to survive in the wild, and a BB gun.
SKILLS: She knows how to shoot, as that was very important for her family to learn. She also is very able to pick things out of something she reads - scanning the boyscout book for help and information won't be too hard.
