A great chill had filled the air. Cold fronts had blown in from somewhere across the sea, the whole coastal area beginning to freeze over. Gray clouds gathered above, reminiscent of the storms several weeks prior. For three days, frost had covered everything, making it hard for keys to turn in locks; but this morning - the twenty-first - the children awoke to what would most likely be their first white Christmas ever. Snow blanketed the ground and coated every patch of roof, every window ledge, even the great play set in the back.
As such, it was pretty much required that they go outside. Each child was wrapped and bundled up in their warmest clothes - in various stages of wear of course - and sent along their way. Many made snow angels, read books, hit each other with multiple snowballs - and a few were playing king of the hill on the play set.
At this current moment, Ryan Davis sat underneath one of the trees at the edge of the yard area, his monster Ezer snuggled tight in his arms. Even in the cold weather, he was half asleep, paying no attention to anyone around him.

In the cold winter snow, a red Toyota Corolla from at least a decade previous pulled up to the orphanage. A moment passed before the driver's side doors swung open. A somewhat tall woman in her late twenties with orange hair stepped out of first, carrying a box with her as she walked inside.
Out of the other tumbled a six year old girl with brown hair, who promptly ran towards the other children.

Patricia was playing in the snow. Snow angels seemed to disturb her, reminding her of... well nobody had asked and she had stifled the tears. Instead she scooped up a snow ball and threw it at the ground. Soon the small snowball was coated, and she was pushing it, rolling up more and more snow. Sometimes she'd flop it onto it's side and try rolling it that way. In a manner she had cleaned the sidewalk in some other areas by gathering up this great big snowman part. Of course, by now she was trying to push something almost bigger than herself, and slipping on the ice about as often as it rolled forward making crushing sounds as its own weight gathered more material.
She hadn't even though of how she'd get the other snowman parts up on top.

"Hey, you bring the kid, May?" Elliot said, wrapped up in a heavy fur jacket, workman's gloves and a beanie. He was close to the entrance of the building, holding a light globe in his hand, twisting it casually. He'd filled in his role as custodian nicely, keeping the place in running shape.
Off to the side, Ben was nestled up against a tree, pooling snow around in his hands and building. He'd never grown up where snow was abundant, so the prospect of a white Christmas was exciting to him. Sitting on a tree root, having dusted off some snow, sat Phryx.
"Oi', ya' know you should do,a ye?" He said, chuckling. "Build Phrxy-ay' over here, yeah?"
That caused a giggle from Ben, who went about do so, gathering sticks.
Further yet so, from most of them, was Bryci. She was making her way over to the entrance, Gentlemen Franklin perched on her shoulder. One hand held on, the other held his wooden sword, sheathed at his hip, giving him a regal appearance.
She made her way over to the girl struggling with her snowball, tucking her long hair behind hear ear and fixing her beanie.
"You alright, sweetie?" She asked the girl, looking at her. "It's not too heavy for you, right?"

Sue moved to stand in the clearing, quite close to both Patty and Bryci, but didn't make any other move to make his presence known to them, preferring to watch for right now.
((And since Bry went over to Patty... c: ))
Ryan had been against a tree relatively close to Ben, and thus looked up now, watching him and his monster play. A big smile came to his face then, and, still holding Ezer, he stood up and ran over to the other little boy.
"Hi! Can I play with you?"

"H-Hi." Benjamin replied, not making eye contact as he spoke, rather quiet. He looked up at the boy, fixing his beanie. "Yeah. I'm making my friend out of snow."
Chuckling, Phryx looked at Ezer.
"This ya' boy, then?"

Ezer waved an arm, its oozing facial orifices dipping up like happy faces.
The boy sniffed, setting down Ezer, who dragged himself over to Phryx.
"Can I at least watch you, then?" He paused, and then his smile grew bigger. He jutted out a clumsy hand. "My name's Ryan, what's yours?"

Struggling to his feet, Phryx took Ezer in both of his massive arms, helping to place him on-top of the tree root, shoving some snow away. It was also memorable to note that the radiating light and warmth from Phryx was melting sections of snow around him.
"Hold on, ya' got some on your face, lad." Phryx said, pushing some ooze off the man's face. More quickly took its place. "Thar' ya' go. So much prettier, aye?"
"I-I have some sticks... y-you wanna' make something too?" He said, moving so that Ryan could see the bundle he had collected to construct Phryx. He took one of his gloved hands and looked at Ryan, squeezing it and shaking it before he let go. He turned away shyly. "I-I'm Benjamin Miles. I-I haven't been here that long."
Taking a glance around, Bryci gently placed Gentleman Franklin on the ground next to her. He rested gently on her feet, looking at the younger girl in-front of them. The Latina girl standing next to the younger girl squatted to her level, smiling.

He was close to the entrance of the building, holding a light globe in his hand, twisting it casually. He'd filled in his role as custodian nicely, keeping the place in running shape. The woman yawned as she looked over at the custodian. "Yeah," She replied, shifting the box slightly as she stopped walking. "I left her outside to play in the snow." May then remembered a question she had for him or... anyone here really. "Hey, Elliot, can you show me to the worker lodgings? Moving in." --- Though Ben and Ryan likely weren't aware of the presence of a third member right away, there was a distinct pattering in the snow relatively close by. There was then a slight feeling of being watched from behind a snow covered shrub. Of course, they very likely noticed the newcomer the second she threw a snowball at Ryan's head and busted out in a fit of giggling laughter.

"I came here last week. But I haven't really done anything yet, not until today." He looked over to the sticks. "Well, maybe we can build both of our friends?" He asked. "Since there's lots of snow, and I don't think Ezer would need any sticks... he's like jelly..."
It was at that point a snowball hit the back of his head. He gasped, and looked around, before glaring at the giggling bush.
"Hey!! That's not nice, I couldn't see you!!"

"It's not too heavy for you, right?" Patty looked up when Bryci addressed her.
Bryci was addressed with a wide eyed, innocent, perhaps even confused gaze, as though it was taking Patricia a moment or two to figure out what she had just been asked. After one blink, Patty shook her head violently, her pig tails tossing about. "Uh uh." Was the reply. "'s fine." And she went back to pushing and rolling the massive snowball.

"You staying here?" He remarked, hopping off his podium from the light globe, holding the broken one in his hands before he looked at the woman. He walked over to her, placing the bulb on the box, holding his hands out. "Here, let me take that."
"I'll show you the way." He said, smiling. The motion caused his lip piercing to clack against his white teeth. "Not that far."
"O-Oh. Okay." Ben said, shrugging. "W-We can build together."
When the snow hit, Ben jumped. He got to his feet. Phryx soon followed, trotting up alongside his companion.
"W-Who did that!?" He called out, looking towards the bushes. "That wasn't nice!"
"Alright, sweetie." Bryci said, scooping Gentleman Franklin up and looking at the girl, smiling. She got to her feet. "Whatcha' making?"

Patty stumbled as she pushed the snowball some more, then decided to make a right angle turn in order to even out it's mass a bit more. "Nuttin'." She mumbled, putting the snowball between her and Bryci as she continued to push. Something in the shadow seemed to lift the snowball up and help her get it moving, but then vanish again before it could be seen.

"Yeah," The nurse replied as she began to follow Elliot down the halls. "Having a bit of an issue with my husband."
--- Ben would find a brunette six year old girl shooting up from behind the bushes and throwing a snowball at him too, as she held back even more laughter.

The blonde boy pursed his lips then, tossing one back at her. Whether or not it would actually hit her was... pretty debatable.

"Sorry to hear that." Elliot remarked, holding her box of stuff with one hand while he jingled the keys from his hip to open up the worker's quarters. "Hopefully it all works out."
"O-Oh, alright." Bryci said, smiling at the girl before she scooped her fuzzy companion upwards so that he could rest on her shoulder, pocketed inside of her hoodie jumper to stay warm. "Call me if you need me."
She turned and looked, catching the man staring at them. She cocked an eyebrow at him, waiting for a response.
Turning to scoop up his own snowball, Ben hurled it at the girl as well.

"Still, you shouldn't have done that!" He sniffed again, dropping his stance to sneeze into his elbow. "It wasn't nice."
Sue's face gained a grin.
"So. How are you?" He asked, almost mockingly.

"Bless you." Benjamin said. "You want a tissue?"
"Me? I'm good." She countered, giving her tone its own sarcastic signature. She looked at him, smiling as she hooked a stray hair over her ear. "How are you, Sue?"

"I'm just wonderful, Bry. How're the 'rents?"

"Thanks for the help." May yawned as she opened the door and grabbed the box from Elliot. --- Before Terra could reply to Ryan, she found her face stuffed with more snow again.
...Before promptly bursting out into tears and running to find her mother.

Patty managed to roll the snowball to a sort of corner of the yard they were playing in and flopped down to rest. It had been more work than she'd thought, rolling it. And now getting the next piece up there would be impossible for the girl.
She took a moment while getting her breath back to watch everyone else and ponder what to do next. This wasn't going to make a proper snowman... but she had a great start to a snow fort!

"They're in my pocket. Gimme' a second." Benjamin said, sniffling quietly as he rummaged through his pockets. He had two carefully buried toys, string, rubber bands, a bit of gum and the eventual goal of a sealed plastic of tissues. "Here."
When he turned from the boy, he saw the girl and her eventual expression, the tears in her eyes. His heart sank into his stomach. He gave chase after her, worried about the repercussions.
"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean it!" Benjamin apologized. He was deeply worried about getting caught. "I didn't mean to hurt you!"
"Sure. Whatever you need, May." Elliot said, smiling. The motion caused his lip piercing to clink against his teeth quietly. He clapped his hands together, moving towards the doorway. "I'm always here if you need anything. I-... I know how it is, y'know... the marital issues. Anyways, later May."
With determined foot holds, she tread snow quickly to get in the face of her long hated companion. He might have heard her grumble, before she eventually attempted to nail him in the groin with her knee and shove him over.
"Fucking cunt!" She yelled at him.

"Wait!" He called, running after her (and Ben) with a small sigh. He felt bad for helping make her cry like that...
Sue spun out of the way, being kneed in the hip then.
"Oh, how silly of me. They're dead, aren't they?" He glanced over at the small patch of kids running around them, and his grin only grew. He was in a zone now, almost ignoring Bryci at this point to dip down, grab a rather large pack of snow and ice, and aim for the kids as a group.

As she turned to face him, Benjamin stood in front of her. He was panting slightly and fixing his beanie from falling over his eyes.
"Because... you did it to us." He apologized. "I'm sorry I hurt you."
"Where the fuck are you parents then, cunt?" She said, before she attempted to use the moment he had turned away from her to throw the chunk of ice to attempt to shove him into the snow. "Bitch."

"Yeah!" The blonde agreed... before he and the others were pegged with the block of ice.
"Dead or gone," the replied with a shrug, being shoved- but not to the ground. He looked over his shoulder to grin at her.

Waiting for a reply, Ben was pelted with ice. He hit the ground pretty heavy due to being clipped with a large piece of ice, wincing. He sniffled quietly, holding his head and biting back tears from the pain.
Shaking free of the ice, Phryx clambered back into Ben's grip.
"Wha' a freakin' punk, aye!?" He yelled, flipping the man off. "Try tha' 'gain ya' fookin' prick!"
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" She yelled. "They're just kids, you piece of shit. Oh. And keep making dead parent jokes at an orphanage. At least mine are in the ground. Yours just fucked off and left you. Gee, I wonder why, Sue."
Treading snow, she helped Ben to his feet, gently brushing snow off him, before she went over to Ryan and attempted to scoop him up, before making her way over to May's precious girl.
"You three alright?" She asked, voice quiet and gentle. "You're not hurt, are you?"
