Two years ago, the hero of Triumph City, and the world, the Son of Liberty, decided to retire. After a fierce battle with The Balrog that cost the lives of many, the Son of Liberty realized that he could not be the champion of the city forever, his superhuman youth and stamina had limits. And so the hero of the Red White and Blue gathered a cadre of young, or just surviving, super humans, and he molded them into a cohesive yet diverse team of heroes to defend the city from evil. The Triumphant. For two years the Triumphant have lived up to their mentors legacy. For two years they have held up the principles of justice and stopped threats to property, liberty, and life. Now more superpowered individuals are rising up, flocking from other cities as Triumph City is being shown as a paragon of community and heroics. These new arrivals are not constrained by even the Triumphant's lax regulations, they are free citizens of the city to do as they see fit. Little did they know what life would hold in store for them from that day onward... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ While I originally had adventures planned out, this time I'm going to try be a little more lax and leave it to being a "Slice of life" sorta thing, with superheroes hanging out in all night diners or dance clubs, struggling with their limited social/sex lives, that sort of thing. However, just to get you thinking about your character so you can play them, I DO ask that you fill out a character write up similar to the Classic Marvel system. Try not to go overboard, as these are supposed to be Spider-Man or Blue Beetle type characters, not Superman or Hulk. Character Name: Costume/Appearance: Profile: Powersource: Strength: ~Striking ~Carrying Endurance: ~Blocking ~Soaking Agility: ~Ranged ~Melee Reason: ~Logical ~Holistic Charisma: ~Charm ~Stealth Heart: ~Casting ~Resisting Wealth: ~Liquid ~Invested Hitpoints: ~Current ~Equilibrium Dramapoints: ~Current ~Equilibrium
Talents/Skills: Powers/Equipment: {And to explain what those mean for those who are not familiar with the system:}
Character Name: This is what your character is known as. It can be their birth name, their heroic code name, an alias they use, a nickname they've picked up from their friends, or list any of these you think fits. Costume/Appearance: If your character were to have a physical avatar, what would it look like? Describe that here. You don't have to be excruciatingly detailed, but if someone else is going to write that they see your character, they should be able to out enough to say something like "man in black suit". Feel free to use pictures if you think that's more descriptive. Profile: Tell us a little something about your character, their mind set, their opinions, perhaps the events in their lives that have led them to where they are. No need to go into detail if you don't want, a few words like "playful" or "Studious" will do if you don't want to write a lot, just proof that you're thinking about the question.
Powersource:Your character is probably going to be a superhero. That means they have powers, and those powers came from something. No need to write out your characters whole origin here, in fact a single word like "Magic" could be all you need to fill this out, unless you want to fill in more. This might easily be part of the above Profile, but is separated out here because, for dramatic reasons, your character might experience times when their powers are negated or boosted due to changes in powersource. I'd like players to consider how best to 'mess with' their characters and offer advice on how they'd like it to be done.
SEARCH: Stands for Strength, Endurance, Agility, Reason, Charisma, and Heart. Each of them are ranked 1 to 50, with 2 being seriously handicapped in that area(such as an 8 year olds Strength, or a mind controlled minions Heart), 5 being your average citizen, 20 being a professional at that level, and 30 being Olympic medalist, with everything above that being outright super human(which means that Olympic medalists actually qualify as superhuman in the one sport they focused their training on). If you're unsure of where your character fits, fill in some kind of benchmark for the ability. Because this is a modern setting a "Wealth" stat has been added. Additionally, each point of SEARCH can be divided. Strength covers both your ability to strike a target(thus the amount of damage that will be done) and the amount of weight that can be easily lifted and carried without strain(thus the amount of gear that can be carried). Both of these require different muscles being used in different ways, and if you want to define your character more precisely than a simple 1 to 50 scale of six abstract statistics you can. To even further define the character look to the Talents/Skills section.
Strength: ~Striking is the damage that you can deal with a bare knuckled punch, measured in Hitpoints. It also covers your jumping distance and your sprinting speed. ~Carrying is the amount of weight you can lift and carry easily for a whole day.
Endurance: ~Blocking is your ability to ignore damage that you can react to. Subtract this score from the Hitpoints you would otherwise lose from an opponents Striking Strength being used on you. ~Soaking is your ability to ignore fatigue(thus also covering your long distance running speed), poison, lack of food, water, air, blood, etc.
Agility: The average determines the number of bonus actions you have in a turn. 2 actions at 20 agility, 3 actions at 30 agility, etc. ~Ranged is your ability to hit a target at range or quickly move your body to avoid such threats. This also includes control of vehicles. ~Melee is your ability to hit a nearby target or quickly shift(without moving) your body to avoid such attacks. This also includes being flexible and able to squirm free of confinement.
Reason: ~Logical is your ability to remember details and retain information, your ability to manipulate technology and understand machinery. This is the maximum level of power your equipment can have without a chance of malfunction. ~Holistic is your ability to notice details and intuitively put together information, your ability to understand and anticipate peoples reactions. This also determines who moves first during combat turns.
Charisma: ~Charm is your ability to sway peoples emotions and opinions in your favor. ~Stealth is your ability to avoid attention and detection.
Heart: ~Casting is your baseline ability to use magic or mutant powers. Given that most powers will have their own definitions, this may not come into use. ~Resisting is your ability to resist outside mental/emotional/spiritual influences. Your ability to avoid being mind controlled or brainwashed, and your courage in the face of things you fear.
Wealth: ~Liquid how much money you have in your pocket. ~Invested how much money you're likely to get every paycheck.
Hitpoints: Strength, Endurance, and Agility scores all added together to get your Hitpoint Equilibrium, and represent your heartiness and ability to stay standing(or get back up) despite pain and damage. When your Current Hitpoints reach zero, you are no longer able to act and your character collapses. While not dead yet, they are incapable of taking action and are probably bleeding out with Soaking Endurance being reduced, when that hits zero THEN you're dead. It's called an Equilibrium rather than a Maximum number, because there is no maximum. Instead, you have a point that your character reaches normally, with rest and sustenance, showing what your body is typically capable of when healthy, but powers or even gear(something as simple as wearing a heavy coat) can increase your Current Hitpoints higher than your Hitpoint Equilibrium. If you are infact NOT bleeding out when reduced to zero Current Hitpoints, you will start recovering them towards that Equlibrium immediately(since your body is being forced to do nothing but rest).
Dramapoints: Add together your Reason, Charisma, and Heart to find your Dramapoint Equilibrium. Dramapoints, also known as Karma, is what fuels your characters development. By using your Current Dramapoints to pay for temporary, one turn only, dramatic increases in one of your SEARCH stats, you also gain a minor but permanent increase in that same stat. The cost for the increase is equal to the cost of what the increased stat would be, whereas the permanent increase is only a third of a point. For example, a young boy tries lifting weights. His Lifting Strength is only 4, but he pays ten dramapoints and lifts a weight of 10. He's tired afterwards, but does this steadily for three days, lifting weights well beyond his comfort zone. He then realizes that his Lifting Strength has become 5, increasing his comfort zone somewhat. Dramapoints are gained for acting as your character should, which is partly why they're called Karma in a superhero setting. You get them for doing "good deeds", stopping bad guys, foiling evil plots and just being cool. Other players can also trade their Current Dramapoints to you(say if they think your latest post is awesome), or pool them for team efforts. Finally, as a last ditch measure for increasing ones Dramapoints is to accept a disabling effect on your character, converting one 'permanent' deduction in a statistic into dramapoints. This represents selling or recycling ones super powered gear(rebuilding a jetpack into a flamethrower), or injuring ones self while pushing your abilities. Dramapoints can also be deducted from your character for performing actions that breach the narrative, but not in a dramatic enough way that they have to be rewritten. An example of that is that in this non-serious superhero setting, killing is avoided. Villains are encouraged to give heroes every opportunity to escape a deathtrap, and will lose dramapoints for indiscriminately killing. A superhero who actively and intentionally kills has their dramapoints reduced to zero and will have to re-earn their dramapoints if they want to push their stats or take new powers. Likewise teammates may be punished(at a reduced rate) for the action of the killer they facilitated.
Talents/Skills: These are things your character has trained in and knows about. They're a way of modifying the SEARCH stats under certain conditions and better defining your characters interests and education. Your character might be an incompetent klutz who trips over their own shoelaces... but is a dead eye frisbee disc thrower. So, list "Expert Frizbee disc throwing- Ranged Agility +20" and your Agility of 4 suddenly becomes 24 when you're trying to throw that frizbee and returns to 4 for everything else. Generally these only give a boost of +10 unless otherwise noted.
Powers/Equipment: Ah, now we're getting to what makes your character truly superhuman. Powers work just like the SEARCH stats, you need go give some kind of rank or benchmark. Does your heroes power blast have the strength of a lightning bolt... or just a strong breeze? Can your heroes body armor absorb a muggers punch... or an artillery shell? List off all their powers and also any equipment they always have on their person(gear that is always carried and kept in working order is pretty much the same as a power as it's a "part" of the character).
Also, if you've added up your SEARCH and powers, and have somewhere around 275 points, you're probably doing pretty good for this setting. That's a bit beyond 'street level' heroics, but in order to face off against the more major threats you'll need to team up with other players and be social. If you've broken 500, you might want to make your character less powerful.

Please no replies for a bit, I need to go through the old OOC and summarize things, including a list of active characters(I will translate any characters submitted on the old OOC using FASERIP to the SEARCH system). Until then please continue to use the old OOC. This post reserved for world building and character lists. To be used as a quick reference once the game gets going, so people aren't lost when they join or want to catch up on what's happening. {Setting notes}If current census statistics are to be believed, every night in Triumph City 2.3 people would be mugged, 5.6 would be assaulted in some manner(typically domestic), .02 alien invasions would be attempted, .1 giant class monsters would rampage, and innumerable other events of unlawfulness or paranormal activity occur, all of which the average citizen can and often times do live their entire life without personally encountering.
Triumph City has a voluntary "Power Registration and License" system in place. If you have a superpower you can register it and are given a licensing and identification card. Citizens are not forced to register, and in fact many of them don't, however once registered the super powered citizen gains a monthly stipend check, as it's assumed that they are contributing value to the city simply by being a super powered law abiding citizen. The stipend check is enough to live on(very frugally and usually with other government assistance programs, there are housing projects throughout the city to provide cheap places to live and community garden systems provide cheap fresh produce in limited supplies). Additionally, once licensed, you can join certain super powered industries depending on your ability. A hero who generates or regulates electrical power for example could, with the right licensing, get a job providing clean energy for the city for example.
Most superheroes are not in fact registered, and support themselves with day jobs and/or secret identities. The Son of Liberty, when he was still active, was registered but lobbied hard to make certain registration was voluntary rather than mandatory. The Triumphant have so far continued such work, as several of them are not registered. The legal system in place for 'citizens arrest' has been expanded on in order to facilitate(and regulate) vigilantism.
Having a criminal record however complicates matters. If you are convicted of committing a crime through or with the aid of a power above and beyond the average citizen it goes on your arrest record, and you may suffer some minor infringement on your civil liberties(in the name of negating your super power) during arrests as a result. The legalities of these methods are still being hotly debated at all levels.
A special international division of science and technology based heroes sanctioned by the United Nations runs a super powered prison known as the Oubliette several miles outside of Triumph City. Additionally, some private foundations have found that they can make good money offering restraints designed to stop super powers, such as the Chainsmen Institute.
"Invention" is considered a super power unto itself. Mad scientists are rather common in this world, and in this city. Their creations however only work for them, and backwards engineering them into common technologies is a difficult and time consuming task. Many large industries have been built around mad scientists, trying to make their creations into mundane science. As such, if your character uses a jetpack or ray gun, you can not simply get rich by selling your copyright on the technology, because nobody but you could reproduce it(though you CAN make a decent living by working with groups that work to find ways to reproduce your powers, you just won't change the world, or your bank account, dramatically with one or two inventions). Likewise, most magicians have to create their own spells and potions from scratch, even if they studied under a master who was able to do such things. Generally magic is considered far more of a personalized art and not taken seriously by the populace at large(who are good at finding alternative ways to explain magic away), but there are organizations that gather and encourage occult practices. Some more reputable than others, and some far less functional than others.
The Oubliette and Chainsmen Institute both have on staff numerous individuals who's only powers seem to be the nullification of other individuals abilities, either through technological, mystical, chemical, or other means, most of which can not be duplicated without these individuals.
The Robotics Consortium, or BotCon, is currently the head of the cities super technology. They remain a shadow organization typically out of the public eye, but they themselves have incredibly advanced technology at their disposal and like to watch out for other super inventors in their territory. If possible, they try to offer them jobs. Rumors persist of other organizations who do likewise for magical, mutant, or alien powered citizens.
Athena Insurance is an international insurance agency devoted to dealing with supernatural damages and investigations, and it often enough finds itself as a rival of law firm of Crowley and Lovecraft. Crowley and Lovecraft Partners in Law, deals with supernatural legal issues and is rumored to be run by powerful warlocks who maintain contracts with demonic forces, while the Athena Insurance Agency is reputed to be comprised of witches and run by a pagan demi-goddess(though obviously not on the books, as the CEO can be shown to have stepped down or been replaced repeatedly throughout the years). Both companies have expanded their practices into the others territory, and both companies are pretty firmly sexist in their approach, leading to much of the rivalry, but neither group is entirely unreasonable.
Mid Earth Labs was recently raided by the Triumphant, following a series of clues of abducted heroes, new villains, stolen medical equipment, and street meta-drugs. They found that the head of the labs, Doctor Sauron, was leading research into 'stealing' certain heroes powers, including the Son of Liberty(who had a copy of his powers placed in a new villain named "Spearhead"). Spearhead himself helped to put an end to Doctor Sauron, and as such was granted a clean slate. Doctor Sauron is now serving time in the Oubliette, though it's believed a number of his files were distributed. As a result there are now a number of meta-drugs on the market that can induce 'super powers' for a limited amount of time. Often with a fatal crash at the end, or a failure to induce 'necessary secondary powers'(such as someone gaining super strong muscles... which then snap all their bones).
Protector Industries recently launched a line of super powered security guards for rent, having a solid contract with Pinnacle City and attempting to branch out into Triumph City as well. So far Triumph City has resisted such corporate control over it's heroes, but because of the influx of "Pinnacle Protectors" on the streets, most Pinnacle City heroes(and villains) have left the city to avoid the growing monopoly the allegedly corrupt corporation has on producing 'heroes'. Luminous Labs is their only competition so far, and apparently highly outclassed in both quantity of 'heroes' and quality of powers, but has managed to hold their own by encouraging quantity of powers(promoting some really off the wall power concepts) and quality of 'heroes'(given that their powers might be sub-par, Luminous Lab 'heroes' often are less predictable and more flexible in the use of their powers).
Adam Creyon is the mayor of Triumph City, just starting his second term. Some would say that he's tried to distance himself from the superhuman activities as much as possible politically, while upholding various pro-super acts, such as registration being purely voluntary and the mutant rights support. The Creyons spend a fair amount of time in a 'competition' with the current mayor of Pinnacle City. {Politcally correct terms} Mutate means that the mutation has been induced, typically by way of drugs. The Lost and Trolls are good examples of Mutates. These are not to be confused with Mutants, who were 'born that way'(though may have had genetic manipulation prior to birth). Alien can be used to refer to anyone who was not born within the city/state/nation/planet. There are a number of non-earth derived species who would personally claim to not be alien as they were born, live, and defend, Earth/Triumph City. The term has entered into some tricky politically correct grounds when used to mean anything other than 'outsider'. While less often used 'Hypertech' is sometimes used to describe inventions that can not be reproduced(save by the original maker). Pinnacle City restricts 'Hypertech' users, requiring them to register their inventions, while Triumph City does not(excepting certain high danger inventions). A hero from Pinnacle City will likely state they are a 'Hypertech user' in their identification along with any other powers they have, even if the technology in question was given to them, including gear that was distributed to the whole team. A hero from Triumph City probably won't think about it unless they actively made their own gear or are particularly proud of it.
{Interesting places we've visited} ~Pocket D Dance Club Owned and operated by "DJ Zero" a superhuman space warper, the club exists within a pocket dimension with a moving frame of reference. It caters primarily to superhumans, who are often allowed free drinks and snacks as well as a waived cover fee. If you can not produce at least some kind of demonstration of superhuman ability the cover fee is rather steep, keeping a large amount of the press and fans out. DJ Zero does not seem to care about your legal status, and would like others to treat his bar as "international", "intergalactic", or even "interuniversal" territory(depending on how he feels like describing it), where the only laws are his own. As such, certain previously known villains such as the bartender Dram are given asylum in exchange for working for the club and any conflicts are restricted to private(or public) 'sparring' matches.
~Nighthawk's All Night Diner A 24hour diner on the west side that typically caters to super heroes and offers running tabs and discounts to those who are protecting the city. From the outside, it didn't look like much. Wide open windows showed numerous booths, and a counter with shiny barstools dominated the serving area. At least one of the late night waitresses is called Vicky, and is a no nonsense lunchlady type used to dealing with the quirks of superpowered individuals. On the roof behind the sign is "That Ol' Familiar Place", a much smaller, and somewhat seedier watering hole for small nonhuman sapients, most notably the talking animals of magical girls.
~Sacred Triumph Hospital (sometimes Sacred Hearts) Hospital known to staff and treat superheroes. Doctor Eva McKinsey, also known as Dr. Evac, works here, along with several others.
~Valor Bridge A major bridge over the bay connecting two halves of the city.
~ (the bar above which Karma and Cesspit live. Small and family owned.)
~Speedy's (Mentioned in Bright Knights section. Where Bright Knight got food and watched TV)
~'Creeps Lair' 'Mister Creepers Neighborhood' 'Freakshow Central' Creepers run down, cockroach infested, housing complex, with no particular working amenities(water, phone, heat, etc. Strangely it has power and a television), in the downtown 'ghetto' area. It's unknown if anyone besides him lives there(most folks give Creeper a wide berth), and the neighborhood is very poor quality and crime ridden(primarily vandalism, vagrancy, drug dealing, and prostitution). The 'Freakshow' gang seem to be rooted in the area. It may be part of or just off of the industrial district, or it may be under the overpasses that lead to the Valor Bridge.
~'The Cairn' Actually a run down outdoor basketball court, it is a sacred place and the intersection of ley lines, a good staging ground for mystical heroes and often used by the Triumphant as a meeting place. Large concrete walls that were once buildings(or noise barriers against the freeway) keep it mostly hidden from view and the neighborhood it's in isn't all that heavily populated. Not run down, and with some yuppy style stores(including Natures Triumph Deli), but also not the bustling center of the metropolis.
~Natures Triumph Deli The Triumphants favorite place to eat. A little family run deli specializing in fresh organic foods. It's run by former supervillain 'Captain Tripps'(whom most of the heroes who actually dealt with have a soft spot for the poor guy so they watch out for him) and his daughter.
~Black Oak Mall A good sized mall in the shopping district of the city, it rests atop a hillside overlooking part of the city, with it's parking lot giving a good view out to the bay. It is a sprawling building of two to three stories with plenty of open areas and large skylights. A number of beautiful fountains, pools, and park-like areas make the building very pleasant to wander through and shop in.
~Riverside Family Restaurant Swanky family restaurant by the river, in a very good part of town.
{Story thus far played} Cupid comforted Blackwall at the Pocket D. Earlier that day (the new)Stormwatch had fought the Skyraiders, causing property damage and threats to innocent bystanders, the Triumphant did not approve, and Blackwall was still feeling bad about it.
Creeper, Bright Knight, and Inferno Witch met at Nighthawks Diner and were recruited by Darkson to investigate the Lost Ones. On his way out Creeper insulted DreamStar, but while she could telekinetically throw him around, her psychic powers didn't work on him and SongDaughter reigned DreamStar in. The four heroes looking for the Lost Ones briefly met Cupid, but were heading in opposite directions.
The team easily over come the homeless guards and infiltrated the Lost Ones lair in the stormdrains and followed to where various Lost were talking. They had apparently taken captives, and several of them were in the form of Mutates, with a Rector and one of the Sectoid aliens hidden away as an 'honored guest'. Creeper charged in loudly and started the fight.
Meanwhile, Cupid found an injured Starscream(who had escaped from the Skyraider defeat by Stormwatch) who had crashed into a motel pool. The hero and villain engaged in a brief conversation and then battle before Starscream attempted to distract Cupid by throwing explosives at an innocent civilian. Aeon Phoenix showed up but Starscream fled anyway. While Cupid got applause from saving people, Aeon Phoenix chased after Starscream and after a bit of a chase attacked him. Cupid returned home to meet with her parents... while Aeon Phoenix was defeated by Starscream.
The four heroes in the storm drains managed to push back the Lost Ones and free the hostages before they started getting hit with psionic attacks from the Rector that put the hostages in peril and put Bright Knight in an illusion that turned her against her companions. Inferno Witch lit the Rector on fire. Creeper, acting entirely in character as he had displayed thus far, brutally murdered a downed Mutate, losing his karma pool and silently outraging his companions. Bright Knight was outraged so much that she, still trapped in her illusion, threatened Creepers life if the 'heroes' didn't show mercy. Mercy was shown, and with the battle won everyone started to filter out before Darkson ordered them out. The sectoid who had been controlling the Rector had set off a bomb to remove all traces of this 'chapter' of the Lost.
Karma, Cesspit, and Lady Enigma showed up at the scene(the explosion rattling a few manhole covers, as well as the guards that were dealt with) as the hostages and injured cultists started to escape, rounding them up. Followed by Creeper, BrightKnight(carrying wounded), and Inferno Witch(having adopted two of the hostage girls, Susan and Raven). A few of the Lost mutates escaped, and finally a wounded Darkson pulled himself out having used his dampening darkness to decrease the explosions damage. To recover from his injuries Darkson 'fed' on Creeper, knocking Creeper out and making Darkson feel ill.
Meanwhile Nephilim had showed up in the Pocket D for coffee. Silver Thread and Triumph Protector tried to get her opinion on political matters, but didn't manage much. Darkson tried to give Bright Knight a little pep talk, and everyone left to recover from their fight.
Page 11 end of day one.
The next morning Susan and Raven(the runaways that had been kidnapped by the Lost) were sleeping together with Inferno Witch, and fixed her breakfast when she got up. On the news Dr. Evac and Jenny were talking about the drug problems in the city. And on the Valor Bridge Starscream had Aeon Phoenix tied up, to use as a hostage in a complex plot of distraction in order to free his Skyraiders.
Nephilim showed at the Valor bridge first, flying in to check on Aeon. Followed by Cupid, Karma, and Cesspit. Starscream attacked Nephilim with a laser, which she absorbed, while calling in Aerodrones to attack and distract everyone. Karma and Cesspit made an effort to stop traffic and keep people safe. With the growing spectacle, Bright Knight showed up. Creeper, meanwhile, escaped from the hospital, and Legion found himself in a cab on the Valor bridge, trying to figure out what was happening around him.
Cupid attempted to engage Starscream at long range, but found that even her and Nephilims joint efforts were only enough to annoy the villain. Instead, Cupid and Bright Knight worked to handle traffic on their end of the bridge(Cesspit and Karma dealing with the other end) and Nephilim managed to effectively engage Starscream in melee. But not before he released his ultimatum: The Skyraiders, his team, were to be released "or else".
Creeper showed up on the scene, climbing the suspension section of the bridge to get to Aeon. The Aerodrones attacked, shooting cars and distracting heroes, as Starscream disengaged from Nephilim and retreated(taunting Aeon on his way). Meanwhile, back in Inferno Witch's apartment, Raven noticed that her next door neighbor was about to jump off the building. Inferno Witch attempted to talk him down calmly, revealing the neighbor to be Skyfall, who was trying to build up his nerve to fly. Talking with a woman drove Skyfall to enough embarrassment to overcome his fear of flight.
The Aerodrones showed themselves to be too agile to be easily taken down, and Creepers effort to smash into one only got him crashed into the pavement near Bright Knight, who helped him away from the scene and back to his home. Nephilim had her own trouble, as Starscream and an Aerodrone double teamed her. Legion was making an effort to use his tentacles to launch himself towards Aeon and cut the boy, when MachAlert(after organizing Cesspit and Karma some) showed up to stop him.
Back at 'Creeps lair' Bright Knight tended to the injured Creeper, and Threnody(AKA Dirge) spotted them, making a report back to Botcon, taking an interest in Creeper but not in sticking around in this bad neighborhood(she used her sonic 'brown note' power and motorcycle to avoid being assaulted as she tried to leave). Bright Knight and Creeper bonded for a bit, exchanging names and discussing how they became heroes and the philosophy of heroes and villains.
Back on the bridge Starscream had hidden himself after distracting Nephilim with a barrage of cluster bombs, and MachAlert, seeing only Legion, was confronting that villain who had grown frustrated and at this point and was making it clear he was more inclined to kill Aeon than save him.
The Aerodrones strafed the bridge, wounding Karma, Nephilim, and Cupid with machine gun bursts. At the end of the bridge where Karma and Cesspit were dealing, Warrior Hopper arrives and at the end with Cupid and Nephilim, Skyfall arrives. Nephilim was inspired to attempt a double team with Skyfall, using his electrical attack to add 'light' for her to manipulate. Unfortunately Skyfall's electrical attacks contained more nerve jarring electrical current and less actual 'light' for Nephilim to use, causing his bolt to almost knock her out of the air and forced Skyfall to catch her while babbling apologies. She insisted on being attacked a second time, to even less effect(Skyfall trying to make more 'light' with his lightning allowed Nephilims power to just barely negate the rest of the attack).
Starscream, from his hiding place(which Aeon could see, but didn't bother to mention) enjoyed the chaos he had caused, with MachAlert and Legion squaring off, Cupid, Cesspit and Karma dealing with injured motorists, and Nephilim and Skyfall blindly trying to synergize. Meanwhile, somebody(Blackwall) was hauling Aeon up from the line he was dangling on to rescue him.
With Legion advancing on him, MachAlert switched to disabling chemical rounds. Legion took two rounds to the chest as MachAlert retreated before Legion's human legs gave out and the tentacles started to fade. For added confusion the Aerodrones started another strafing run.
This time the heroes were ready. On the uptown end Cesspit declared no more, hurling a car door at the drones, while Karma followed up her partners distraction by hammering them with her guns. Warrior Hopper followed up with a motorcycle jump into the drones midst and martial arts kick to the nose of the drone. He lands and dramatically strikes a pose as the attack drones at that end of the bridge are wiped out.
On the downtown end, Nephilim fills the air with 'shut gun scatter' of light pellets, followed up by Skyfall launching a ball lightning to fry the robots circuits. While not 100% effective, Cupid adds her attack and manages to blast one of the drones out of the sky. And by this time Blackwall had managed to rescue Aeon, despite momentarily being distracted by his sexy, her force bubble contained the explosives Starscream had rigged as a last resort. Making one last taunt and a 'curses foiled again, retreat!' Starscream fled the scene. His true plan of simply being a distraction as others released the captured SkyRaiders successful.
With the villain(s) defeated and chased away, adoring public(many of them having been motorists caught in the crossfire) cheer our heroes and the news teams descend on them to get statements of those who don't need to be carted off by the arriving paramedics. Nephilim simply slipped into the crowd and faded away. Legion, now arrested, was hauled off to jail(though a criminal mastermind made a note to recruit him by sending lawyers his way) while Cupid and Aeon reunited. Still shell shocked, Aeon decided to go home, and Aeon officially broke up with Cupid until she moved, not wanting to come back to this dangerous city. Cupid took it pretty well.
Back at Botcon, Starscream removed his gear and reported to his superior, only for Lord Megatron, in full armor, to berate and batter Starscream for his failures. Starscream defended his actions as best he could, including how the Skyraiders who had been captured were now freed once more and how his team could continue to be useful, but Megatron shut him down telling him that the Skyraiders are now considered rogues and would be disavowed by Botcon.
(Page 16) Later that day, nearing evening, Karma and Cesspit agree to meet up to head out on patrol(though Karma, having been taken to the hospital, is being pestered by a reporter about the bridge incident), Nephilim went clubbing, and Sleeping Boy arrived in 'Mister Creepers Neighborhood'. SleepingBoy and Creeper talked for a bit, the Freakshow giving Creeper his space, when Nator showed up, drunk, looking for Creeper. From across the street Agateno Suda watched. When Sleeping Boy made his retreat from Creeper and Nator being sick together, Agateno Suda introduced himself to the boy avatar of the wakan tanka.
At the Pocket D Nephilim and Darkson met at the pool table. At Nighthawks diner Changeling was getting something to eat. At TriPD Legions spoke with Silas Detwiler, his lawyer, to little avail(he was not particularly coherent and thinking only of escape). At the same time strange things were happening across the city, and Stone Serpent of the Triumphant decided that they would need teams to deal with all the 'fairy circles' cropping up in the city that night.
Back at her home, Cupid was introduced to her new housemate, and after some uncomfortable talking animal sidekick revelations discovered that it was Scorched Earth, a transfer student that Cupids family was hosting. Karma(having been given some exposition from the reporter) was called up by the Triumphant, and sent to a meeting spot which is being divided up by powersources(Karma counts as 'natural' Cesspit as 'Science'). Creeper and Nator headed to the Pocket D in order to get more to drink, and in the Pocket D Forest Fox met up with Darkson and Nephilim giving a report on various gangs and mystical villainy that could be about. Likewise Changeling, Catseyes and Untar were also called up to meet with Stone Serpent and other mystical heroes.
Cupid and her family head to the mall with Scorched Earth, technically to shop for their new 'daughter' but the two magical girls also use it as an excuse to investigate fairy portals. When there they meet up with Midnight Pulsar who seems better informed of events(having been living in the city a bit longer than the two). Elsewhere the teams divide out: Changeling, Karma, Cesspit and Forest Fox(with Darkson, Nephilim, Creeper and Nator in tow) are to investigate the docks with another fairy circle. The same docks that Kyle was arriving on, having stowed away in a cargo ship.
Just as Agateno Suda and Sleeping Boy came into the mall, James 'Jay War' Warren angered some fairy(placing cold iron 'coins' around the fountain that the fairy were using for their portal here) starting the fight. The Maiden declared her presence only to be knocked into the same store that Cupid, Scorched Earth, and Midnight Pulsar were shopping in. As they came out, the fairy called in a cave troll for muscle, and PrettySparrow rushed in to deal with it. Scorched Earth directed her flames at the fairy, while a recovering Jay War was ambushed by an elf assassin hiding in the crowd of innocent bystanders. He, Sleeping Boy, and Agateno Suda dealt with the elf, but there were others. Midnight Pulsar followed up Scorched Earth's flame with a micro-singularity, taking out most of the fairy as well as the inhibitors on the portal. Hazard, having been shopping as well, showed up to help Cupid evacuate innocent bystanders from the battleground. Another elf came out of the crowd and attacked Scorched Earth, knocking them both over the railing. Both Midnight Pulsar and the Maiden caught Scorched Earth and pulled her back up, and Scorched Earth(with a followup by Agateno Suda and Midnight Pulsar) blasted the elf that had nearly knocked her off the second floor. Cupid moved to engage the troll just as it knocked PrettySparrow across the area. Hazard was confronted by a third elf appearing out of the crowd. Jay War jumped to his daughters side as she recovered from the troll hitting her, only for a fourth elf to stun him, driving PrettySparrow into a berserker rage at seeing her father hurt.
Back at the docks the team split up to investigate, Nator bemoaning that he had to stick with Creeper(who wasn't investigating) while Nephilim suggesting that she and Darkson investigate the boat that Kyle had come in aboard, and in the warehouse Kyle battled the bridge troll guarding the portal in one of the warehouses. Forest Fox showed up to help out, but was somewhat outclassed by the two. The battle between the two muscular figures reached a head(Kyle having pinned down the troll and started brutally beating on it) when a cannon was pointed through the portal and fired on Kyle, sending him flying through the wall and into a cargo container.
Back at the mall, and slightly forward in time(due to travel time not being calculated), Cupid and the Maiden distracted the cave troll but the fairy circle portal entered it's final stages of opening, creating a network with all the other portals in the city. A Great Fairy came through, but found that she couldn't yet pull her whole power through. She still took out Agateno Suda, PrettySparrow, and survive the full onslaught of Scorched Earth's blast. Midnight Pulsar and Sleeping Boy followed up with somewhat more effective but ultimately only minor annoyances against the Great Fairy. The Maiden then tricked the troll into charging her, and falling onto the Great Fairy while Scorched Earth used the last of her firepower to save the Maiden. In thanks the Maiden attempted to cover for Scorched Earth who reverted to civilian form. Hazard and Midnight Pulsar tried again, and again did little but annoy and with the splash of their powers accidentally free the Great Fairy little by little.
Back at the docks Nator was captured by the mermaids and pulled under water. Creeper, despite his armor having exposed electrical lines, dove in after them to save Nator only to end up electrocuting himself(and any mermaid who came close). Kyle pulled himself up and charged back into combat with the bridge troll as the fairy circle portal entered it's final stages of opening(giving the lightshow mentioned in the above paragraph). With the troll distracted by Kyle and Karma, Darkson dove at the portal to shut it off, only for Captain Hook to step out and stop him. As the troll focused on the 'weak link' of those attacking it, Karma, Cesspit threw himself to her defense, knocking the troll through a few walls but catching another cannon blast in the process. Forest Fox moved to attack Hook, distracting him and letting Darkson at the portal to start closing it, but Forest Fox was easily dealt with and thrown into the water for the mermaids to restrain. Changeling rushed to attack his long time nemesis Hook and fared better, but only because Hook wanted to play with him. Nephilim arrived on the scene to save Darkson(who was playing dead while closing the portal right under Hooks nose). Darkson reacted by angrily shoving Nephilim away, getting her clear of a collapsing wall of crates that Hook used to crush Darkson, even if Nephilim still died from just being shoved. Karma tended to Cesspit, discovering and freeing a young girl in one of the cargo containers.
Back at the mall the Maiden volunteered to 'lend her power' to Cupid. Scorched Earth, despite being depowered, volunteered hers as well, and Midnight Pulsar added another. Then Sleeping Boy added yet another. We took a moment to see all across the city as to how all the other heroes(and some villains) were fighting other forms of fairy attacks, including Reactor fighting dryads in the park(and a bit later Warrior Hopper cameos as well). Then back to the mall as Cupid unleashed her joint attack, blasting the Great Fairy back into the portal and sealing it shut. Throughout the city one of the pillars of light from the portals shut off as Cupid and her team claimed the first solid victory. All that was left now was to pick things up and recover.
Back at the docks though, things were still in very bad shape. Nator managed to free himself from the mermaid that had captured him and started pulling the unconscious Creeper back up to the surface. With Darkson out of the fight, Karma called for a specialist to close the portal. Cesspit and Kyle were overcoming the troll, and Hook was locked in battle with Changeling, but all the villains had to do at this point was stall. The next stalling tactic Hook called on was for the mermaids to start pulling apart the dock from below to create a 'moat' around the portal. By this point the light show and noise had drawn a crowd of concerned dockworkers, and both Forest Fox and Nator hauled Creeper out of the water up onto the street.
With the 'moat' in play, Cesspit decided the best way was just to throw Kyle across the gap. While the troll tried to stop it, Kyle ended up being thrown through the portal and appearing on the deck of Hooks pirate ship. From his new position, Kyle took over the ships cannon and fired at Hook through the portal then following after to see if he'd actually hit. With Hook and Changeling still locking swords, the cannons shot took them both out of the fight. Cesspit, too close to the edge of the 'moat' was caught by a mermaid grappling hook like Nator had, but Cesspits greater strength meant that he pulled the mermaid up out of the water, where she immediately surrendered and the other mermaids stopped being aggressive with their sister hostage. As the last effort, Mister Smee stepped through the portal, asking for parlay.
The heroes regrouped themselves, Hook and the troll making an escape and leaving one balding overweight elf to defend the portal. Kyle proceeded to just hurl Mister Smee back through the portal, and the pirates opened fire with their muskets. Enough that those without protective powers had to take cover. It left Cesspit and Nator to deal with the portal. Cesspit charged through and started battling the pirates but was overwhelmed, and Nator fled to the ships hold. Miles White showed up as the 'hedgemage' to help close the portal, but since it was still controlled by the pirates, Forest Fox took it on himself to race the solution into play.
Back at the Mall everyone had recovered(or was heading to the hospital, Agateno Suda took a bad hit) and the few captured fae were being sent to prison. That left Cupid, Scorched Earth, Midnight Pulsar, Sleeping Boy, PrettySparrow, and the Maiden, along with their parents or guardians to go out to dinner. On the way the group met with Reactor in the park. Jay Warr talked the team into registering themselves, helping them all fill the paperwork out. Flashpoint arrived as well, teleporting her taxi into the park accidentally. The group would go to a late dinner and have a surprisingly enjoyable time together.
Aboard the pirate ship Nator pushed Cesspit back through the portal, where Forest Fox was bleeding out, the protective circle only partially finished. With one defiant rant that ended weakly, the fire Nator set below deck in the powder stores caused the ship to blow up. A small section of the warehouse at the docks exploded as well, but Cesspit protected Karma and Forest Fox from the blast and everyone else there was far enough away.
The night finally saved, Karma, her new slave girl, and Miles started to uncover Darkson(who drained Miles in order to recover a bit from being crushed). Then they found Nephilims body, and Darkson took her pendant, accusing it of letting an innocent(Nephilim) die. Kyle and Darkson headed out to deal with their issues. Much later that night Mirage appeared to Creeper(now Risto, getting electrocuted underwater shifted his personality) in his hospital room, apparently knowing far more about what was going on with Nator(except where he was right now) then anyone else. She answered some of Risto's questions and suggested he get in touch with Jackson Wheeler. Craig Edwards took charge of Nephilims corpse(which was put in cold storage), and apparently Warrior Hopper was in the hospital for 'kicking a portal closed'.
The next morning (page 31)
Warrior Hopper was out of the hospital with a new transforming motorcycle. Kyle had a new lead on where his girlfriend might be, she was being used as a 'reward' in a fighting tournament of magical villains, and he also had a new respect for Darkson who he had watched 'eat' a demon while they were investigating leads with the Hellions. Karma and Cesspit woke up with the girl they had rescued in bed with them, asking if they wanted breakfast(she introduced herself as the Rose Bride, and claimed Karma was her 'husband' for saving her, and that she had to do anything Karma asked, within the limits of her rather limited ability). Risto was sent home from the hospital and called up Dr. Wheeler, getting an appointment for a job.
Cupid and Scorched Earth were awakened to head to school. The morning show was interviewing Hornet about mutants, scientifically enhanced heroes, and non-powered heroes. It ended with a promotion of a mutant rights demonstration later that day. Risto showed up at Powers Automotives R&D, going through security and meeting some people there. While Cupids parents took her to school, the overpass they were on erupted into violence as Ankylo' and the SUV-bot burst from a building and landed on it.

{NPC sheets}
DreamStar (Aisha North/Asgi Noquisi)
Scientist who lost her funding when she discovered the secret to unlocking psychic powers in humans. She used her process on herself before the lab was destroyed. She's from Pinnacle City, and ran the group known as StormWatch for a time, before being forced out by an effort to gain a corporate monopoly on super powers. She is a staunch feminist who frequently clashes with the male-centric heroes of any city. She's trying to rebuild StormWatch as a heroic force in Triumph City, though her initial efforts have been questionable.
Her outfit is black tights resembling nude body paint art, with dark blue and neon blue stars. She likes wearing high heeled boots and her cowl, hiding her hair, has a crown built into it. She's dark skinned, but of no particular race(possibly native american/african descent, but self identifies simply as "American").
Powersource: Self induced mental augmentation mutations
Strength: 20 Endurance: 20 Agility: 20 Reason: 30 Charisma: 20 Heart: 40 Resources: 20 Max Health: 60 Starting Karma: 90 Talents: Computer user, Detective, Law Enforcement, Brain chemistry, Psychic studies, womens self defense(+1cs to fighting when a male attempts to grapple)
Powers/Equipment: Psionic ability at Heart rank -As a stunt she can perform Telekinetic attacks of up to Strength 30 lifting ability or 20 damage(the impact spreads over the target so is less damaging). -As a stunt she can perform Mind Control attacks of up to 20 psyche on up to five targets in one turn. Commands must be simple (IE: "Sleep" "Look" "Feel Pain" "Berserk" etc.)
Weather control(by telekinetically manipulating her environment in a holistic manner) at Heart rank - 10 -As a stunt may generate battering winds with a strength of 20 -As a stunt may freeze moisture in the air creating a one area sphere of freezing rain -As a stunt may generate a static electrical bolt, deals 10 damage, stuns for 20 endurance, may overload electrical systems.
Flight: 10(she is neither fast nor skilled with it, but likes to levitate herself during combat to get a good view of things and to stay out of melee range)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DarkSon
An ancient 'vampire' who has been haunting the world for some time now. 'Secretly'(as in his readily declares it, but nobody believes him due to his appearance and some habits) he is a fallen angel with dark blood stained wings trying to find redemption by eating the 'sins' of the world. He prefers to terrorize than to fight, making his strikes precise and disabling, but if neither intimidation nor physical violence can solve the problem he's often at a loss for a solution.
He likes wearing red suits, often with a jacket, and leather pants/boots/gauntlets with heavy straps. He does his best to hide his wings(successfully) with long coats or jackets or even a cape, and glowing red eyes(unsuccessfully) with glasses. His skin is marble white pale, and his long hair and soulpatch are silver. His usually hidden body is heavily scarred with tribal tattoos.
Powersource: Ancient Curse of Immortality (he swears he's not a vampire if you bring it up)
Strength: 40 Endurance: 20 Agility: 25 Reason: 20 Charisma: 20 Heart: 30 Resources: 20 Max Health: 85 Starting Karma: 70 Talents: Detective, Law Enforcement, Vocal projection, Intimidation, Occult and magic skills(may cast spells at Heart rank), Air combat(Agility boosted while flying or hovering)
Powers/Equipment: 30: Life/light drain As a stunt may boost his endurance and strength(and hitpoints as a result) one column shift for every 30 points of hitpoints drained from his target. This requires physical contact with the victim(though it can be done through clothing and armor the range isn't much further than his arms length), and can be added to the damage caused by a melee attack. As a stunt this drain can be delivered as a direct shock to the targets Endurance rank without draining hitpoints but potentially putting them to sleep. Again, requires physical contact. As a stunt may drain the light from the area around him, granting excellent stealth to himself and any within touching distance of him. Anyone not under his protection but within melee range when he creates this draining field suffers 6 hitpoints damage per turn. This dispersed drain does not boost his abilities, but still counts as "feeding" him(see below).
20: Immortality As a stunt his body takes less physical damage. As a stunt he does not require food, water, sleep nor air(though will partake of these things primarily because without them he can only recover hitpoints and endurance ranks via his drain attacks) As a stunt(assuming he is "fed") he has rapid healing and will recover hitpoints at the standard rate even while not in a resting state. If he has "over fed" with his drain attacks, this "heals" him back to his listed stats.
10: Flight As a stunt he can lift himself with flight, and make it appear as though he's walking on a wall or other surface that should not hold him.
He is known to frequenly have a single use teleportation spell prepared as well(as per the rules of "bought" equipment/powers such as grenades or single use spells, he has not used it frequently enough to make it part of his standard powerset)
Also captured Nephilims jewelry, can now manipulate light as she can(creating solid constructs or healing others with it). He's less imaginative in his uses however, and his solid constructs tend towards blunt semi-energy attacks(like a column from the sky or thrown balls).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Character Name: Aero-Drone Costume/Appearance: tfu.info/2003/Gobots/Aerobot/aerobot.htm ((Okay, honestly, probably could have come up with better...)) Player Character list: Warrior of Light ~Penny~ {Isolde Ansel, Cupid} Costume/Appearance:tektek.org/avatar/47606602 Exact Costume img217.imageshack.us/img217/3463/cupidcoh.png Per's CoH version. Hair is Pink ringlets, blue eyes, white blouse, gloves, and tights, frilly pink skirt with numerous ribbons in white and pink. Stands at a measly 4'4, and weighing 225 lbs Profile: Cupid is the 'magical girl' team leader sort of character. Cupid, as she goes by to fellow superheroes, is, on one hand, a sweet, sensitive, fiercely loyal and protective, and relatively intelligent girl. On the other she's a crybaby, gluttonous (and... it shows...), has no common sense, semi-sarcastic, and can take being made fun of pretty well, though she'll act offended. She isn't all that good at... well... most things, actually, except talking and making others feel good. When the going gets tough, she... tries to be tough. The jury is out on whether or not she actually can do that, however. As for her backstory, Isolde had grown up in a small suburbia far away, with a group of friends she'd stayed with since she was little. They'd all gotten powers together, and defeated a lot... ...But then in a hilarious twist of fate, her family moved, deeming the suburbia too dangerous. Thus, Isolde now goes here. She's 16 years old. Powersource: Crystal within her. Technically a 'Psychic technology' it is pretty indistinguishable from emotional based magic. Strength: 5 Endurance: 20 Agility: 13, 5~melee, 20~ranged Reason: 10 Charisma: 25 Heart: 30 Wealth: 5 (her allowance) Hitpoints: 38~Equilibrium Dramapoints: 505~Current 65~Equilibrium Talents/Skills: Fashion and Design is something she's always had a big talent for, as well as useless sci-fi/anime/movie and food trivia. Powers/Equipment:Instant Change, Isolde can change from her civilian form to her powered form near instantly(treat as 'free action'). She likes to shout out "Love Angel Power!" to go through the first transformation sequence. There are no changes to her stats in this first form, but she may have additional ones(a 'ribbon mode' and a 'crystal mode') that do increase her stats. In transformed mode she can summon useful gear including: -Scepter (30 material strength, can deal ranged or melee damage equal to Heart~Casting. "Aphrodite Love Beam" is the trigger phrase to launch) -Wing Clips (7 thrown damage or can be used in conjunction with the Scepters beam) -Back Ribbon (Self animates with 10 material strength and lifting strength) -Sword of Divinity (50 material strength, 20 damage by the blade) -Crystal (60 ranged damage to a target, but will deal 20 Cupid with each use) {Fiyero Quince, Hunk, S.C., Scare Crow }(Inactive, not yet introduced) {Joey Brookes, Karma} Costume:public.bay.livefilestore.com/y1pBOXsotmF9YOuM02PEXa-qZWWFh3F8Zxoi0DCrNprY0k8GE9zl2hgEpcHMd16rKIrknRkKJxLEY7gD923HFXuyQ/KarmaCoH2.png?psid=1Profile: -Triumph City v.2, 2010 That was quite a while ago now. After several bouts of crime fighting here in TC, Joey was entered into the team sanctioned by Son of Liberty himself- the Triumphant. This went well, and as the world went on he became ever-so-slightly 'clique-y' with one of the members of the team, Cesspit. The two formed a close relationship of buddy cop-isms. Then there was that fateful night. Let's just say that once a person gets shot in the stomach with a sawed-off shotgun, nothing's secret. After losing a child the team didn't know Joey had, it came out that the 'he' was a 'she'. Jocelyn Warner- a girl who'd lost her parents and a bit of her girlish sanity during a planned robbery- her father being an influential man elsewhere with many enemies, and she being a very pretty young lady, narrowly avoiding being sold into sexual slavery by the back of the truck they were taking her in busting open. She'd found herself in Seaport City, being taken care of at a hospital. After being released she began to work on her fighting skills- she knew only minimal amounts from what her father and friends had taught her as a child. She eventually thought she was ready enough. She chopped her hair off, and under the guise of Joey Brookes made her way to Triumph City, where she stayed with a nice young woman and her son, helping out while moonlighting as a superhero. She stayed with the Triumphant for a while after that- luckily they kept her identity a secret for the most part. But eventually, both she and Cesspit left for Seaport City as the team disbanded, to go elsewhere and spread liberty, freedom, peace and goodness. Or at least that was the plan. Seaport City luckily was well enough, they found, eventually- but they heard news of some things going on in Pinnacle City. They went there for gang control- but are now back where it all began, coming to see their old mentor and friend, Son of Liberty, off and hopefully into a smoother retirement than there has been yet. Though the years have passed, for the most part, little has changed about Karma... well, other than the new-found relationship of sorts with Cesspit, that is. Strength: 15 Endurance: 20 Agility: 30 Reason: 15 Charisma: 30 Heart: 15 Wealth: 5 Hitpoints: 65 Dramapoints: 282~Current 60~Equilibrium Talents:Superior Marksmenship(Agility is considered 50 when shooting), Swordsmanship, Pool and Billiars player. Powers/Equipment:High Pain Tolerance(damage dealt to health can be delayed for turns equal to one fifth Heart~Resistance(3). Does not stop stuns, but will keep Joey active if health reaches 0. Damage done during this time is taken out of the endurance~soaking as per rules on dying characters) Twin Colt Navy pistols. (7 ranged damage each) Hidden short sword. (10 edged damage, 30 material strength) Fedora that can be compressed into a bladed weapon (10 throwing edged damage) {Tara Hart, Enchantment }(villainess, not yet introduced) {Angel Reise}Character Name: Angel Reise (Super hero name as yet unknown) Costume/Appearance: tektek.org/av/682423 Also, stands at 5'10. Profile: Angel is a young runaway from Pinnacle City - that's basically all she tells anyone who asks, that she took as much clothes and things that she could carry in her tote bags, took whatever money she'd saved up over the years and got herself a bus ticket. Of course, she keeps hidden that she ran away after finding a necklace that gave her powers whenever she had it on in her grandmother's attic (and maintains she has no idea about it, none at all.) Really though, Angel's a very sweet, passive, timid and shy girl, with a terminal stutter. Powersource: A crystal pendent that hangs on a necklace. Strength: 5 Endurance: 15 Agility: 7.5 ~Melee 5 ~Ranged 10 Reason: 12.5 ~Holistic 15 ~Logical 10 Charisma: 20 Heart: 5 Wealth: 5 Hit points: 27.5 Dramapoints: 37.5 Talents/Skills: No real skills (she can't even drive a car and can just barely cook a normal meal), but she knows some parkour and can be manipulative if need be. She's also a pretty good skater and a bibliophile - she can recall a few things from books to help her if she needs it. Powers/Equipment: Super speed (50) and levitation, both of objects (50) and self (30).
corte{Risto Wicker, Creeper}Character Name: Creeper, hero name. Risto Wicker, real-life names.
Costume/Appearance: Fused in armor-plating. Sorta' like Iron-Man, I guess? Blue and yellow colouring, skeletal appearances. He is tattooed, head-to-toe in Celtic, biblical references and rather funny sketches on his bum.
Profile: A former convicted, escaped rapist, murderer and psychopath, he has reformed his ways in an effort to right the wrongs he did. He has a perverted, funny sense of humour, and a sense of justice that is just barely teetering into the evils.
Powersource: A powered housing unit slapped onto his back. It runs off powered energy, electricity, and if need be, kinetic energy. However, the unit is housed directly INTO him, so any sustained damage to the suit, and he is killeds. His true strength, however, is that the suit is well-rounded in alert systems, due to his insane paranoias.
(I'll note in armour, out of armour.)
Fighting: 15, in. 5. out. Agility: 25, in. 30 out. Strength: 15, in. 5. out. Endurance: 25, in. 10, out. Reason: 45. Intuition: 45, in. (Sensors), 20, out. Psyche: 45, in. 20 out. Resources: 10. Everything was put into the suit. Charisma: 20. A man with a giant suit of armour makes a dangerously compelling case in a fight. Max Health: 80, in. 50, out. Starting Karma: 125, in. Talents/Skills: Parkour, running. Is rather funny and sick-minded. Powers/Equipment: In-built armour system. Sustained damage, and he is as dead and the suit is useless. {Elliot Costiro, Legions }(villain, incarcerated, awaiting trial) {Jay J. Lints, Hazard}Character Name: Jay J. Lints / Hazard
Costume/Appearance: Jay is a relatively average person in terms of height, and isn't lacking in muscle despite his rather 'computer-heavy' job. His skin tone is pale, but he is tanning around the face and arms.
He has brown eyes, and a small scar over his upper-lip. He is currently forced to wear some small bandages over his left-eye, and a bandage on his hand, after an injury sustained in the field of heroics.
He usually wears a pair of jeans, hoodie, sneakers and finger-less gloves. His hair is brown, and shaggy. He usually wears a blue face-mask and sunglasses to cover his face.
Profile: Jay is a fairly average man with an extraordinary double life. He just recently hit his twenty-ninth birthday, and his ten year anniversary with his wife, who he fathered two children with; a son and and a daughter, Jack and Lily, eight and one, respectively.
Jay spends most of his life working five days a week as an IT Manager at two Office complexes, and keeping the machines in-check through the use of his ability, which allows him to work machines even if they are past their breaking point, or just made out of scrap. He can also manifest and make them, albeit he finds this very enduring, and tiresome, and prefers to only use it on his super-hero equipment.
Whilst on the week-ends (and when the time calls) he spends some time super-heroing, he isn't as into as some. He signed up for voluntary registration, doubling his paycheck with his benefits payment. He has been approached by BotCon once before, both for his ability with machines, and his latent electricity capabilities, which the Government are slightly interested in, but aren't enough to sustain an entire city, so he wasn't approached upon.
Jay is an intellectual, and doesn't believe in fighting to be the only answer. He has a soft-spot for children, and although he is a super-hero, he doesn't want to risk his life, since he has two kids he'd wish to see grow.
All-in-all, he's a pretty standup guy, with tight morals and a bright future. Although he is a smoker, which most seem to think would be outside of his character.
Powersource: Electricity/Machines, really.
Fighting: 5.
Agility: 15.
Strength: 5.
Endurance: 10.
Reason: 25.
Intuition: 20.
Psyche: 15.
Resources: 10-20-ish? He has a steady job, and benefits.
Charisma: 15. He's an alright guy, but he ain't that popular outside of his group of friends.
Max Health: 35.
Starting Karma: 60.
Talents/Skills: Machinery, electricity. Basic geography. He's an intellectual.
Powers/Equipment: - Basic stun attacks, electricity. Prefers not to over exhaust himself, so he uses minor things that would equal to being tazed. - Jetpack. - Basic Kevlar. - Sports gear, like knee-pads, elbow-pads. - Capability to make broken machinery work, or overload them. Like starting a car without the key, albeit doing this would over-exhaust him if he over-did it. {Eli Free, Sergeant Havoc }(not yet introduced) Adlai Stevenson{Mike Sciavo, Cesspit} Character Name: Cesspit (born Mike Sciavo) Costume: 5xxvgg.bay.livefilestore.com/y1pfbhmMoYBPQcEbzTQDrQd-kFSCmtBDfazRAdVt6VN-H7GPdDdkXchbXa2zd1ygk92Js0fqerA-T6JZHRqIOBLaGSQrvfwGFMk/CesspitCoH3.png?psid=1Cesspit’s outward appearance is meager in comparison to the extent of his inner workings, as the entire interior of his body has been rebuilt and enhanced. Mostly to hide his hideous flesh, Cesspit wears a full dark-navy blue mask, covering his entire head, thereby leaving no distinguishing features visible. The eye lenses are like white one-way mirrors, with the texture of a foil-like material, rimmed with black (the white portions of the mask's eyes are reactive to his own; although he has no eyelids of his own, the lenses will "squint" when Cesspit is focusing in on something). The rest of his suit is fairly simple, comprised of light body armor (a derivative of strain rate sensitive armor, common among motorcyclists) and simple form-fitting spandex material. The strain rate armor, though effective against minor blunt objects and kinetic energy (such as falls, bumps and crashes, etc.), is not bullet-proof; though he hardly needs it, as he’s practically invulnerable to conventional weaponry anyways. Profile:- Triumph City v.2, 2010 That was quite awhile ago now. Indeed, Cesspit did become the hero he once could only dream of ever being; maybe not the biggest, or smartest, or most famous of them all, but it was never really about that kind of thing, anyways. As a member of the Triumphant team, Cesspit stood for truth, justice, and hope in Triumph City, and cared for the preservation of life and society as well as he could (illicit property damage, on the other hand . . .). While the group was never disbanded (the Son of Liberty's job was done; he had trained a new generation of heroes), they did go their own separate ways, with the exception of Cesspit and the rough-and-tumble gunslinger, Karma. Their kinship had grown overtime, and while other heroes made names for themselves on their own, they had become a dynamic duo, of sorts. Buddy cops, bros, maybe even so far as best friends. One fateful night, however, their lives had changed irreparably. During what seemed to be a standard sting operation; the inseparable pair foiling a weapons-trafficking scheme by the mob - Karma was wounded, struck down by the shells of a sawed-off shotgun, nearly killing him. The Triumphant team rushed him to intensive care, whereupon they discovered that he was not a he at all. Indeed, Karma had in fact been disguising her gender, and her apparent pregnancy, which was now promptly terminated. Eventually, Cesspit, still loyally by Karma's side, left with her to Seaport City, continuing their crusade against crime in this new locale, building up their reputations as big league heroes and keeping up the fight against villainy. Though their plan had been to stay in Seaport longer, news of the growing crimes of gang violence and corruption were growing as tall as wildfire flames from Pinnacle City. Cesspit had made the conscious decision to take the fight to the source, there; against the gangs, who trafficked drugs, guns, people, and incited violence throughout the city - which law enforcement answered with swift and merciless brutality, corruption, and martial law. His stay in Pinnacle was met with little success, however, despite leaving him a bit disparaged, he never let himself become embittered or politicized by either side, and stuck with Karma. The two heroes are now back where it all began, coming to see their old mentor and friend, Son of Liberty, off, and hopefully into a smoother retirement than there has been yet. Though the years have passed, for the most part, little has changed about Cesspit . . . well, other than the new-found relationship of sorts with Karma, that is. Fighting: 12 Agility: 12 Strength: 50 Endurance: 50 Reason: 12 Intuition: 9 Psyche: 12 Charisma: 4 Resources: 7 Max health: 90 Starting Karma: 23 Talents: Jack of all trades(no bonuses to stats under certain conditions) Powers/Equipment: Immortality(30). He does not need to eat, drink, or breath, and can survive earthly hostile conditions without harm. He probably does not age. Deep space or crushing ocean depths still deal damage. Invulnerability: Anything dealing less than 50 points of damage he can ignore. He is still subject to slams but not stuns or kill results. He can survive loss of limbs, but still suffers the penalties from them. {Galihvi Atsutsa, SleepingBoy} Character Name: Galihvi Atsutsa, or Sleeping Boy Costume/Appearance: Profile: Sleeping Boy was born to a pair of Lakota Sioux natives, part of a small, renegade band of refugees and reservation escapees crisscrossing the Great Plains at the turn of the twentieth century. As told by their small tribes' elders and his parents, Sleeping Boy was no ordinary youth; according to the long-lost legend of old, he was the living embodiment of the Wakan Tanka, the 'Great Spirit' of the tribes of old, master of earth, sky, fire, and nature. Sleeping Boy had little time to own up to his responsibilities as the newest incarnation of the spirit, however; his tribe was on the run from the US, as they had been for decades. It was only a matter of time before they were caught in the winter of 1912, in the far northern reaches of North Dakota, mere miles from the Canadian border. Outgunned and outmanned, Sleeping Boy's entire tribe was massacred before him - but not before he escaped into the icy waters of a nearby lake, the will of the Wakan Tanka taking the wheel to freeze him solid below the surface. Exactly one hundred years had passed before he was unearthed - thawed, rather - and nursed back to health at the local reservation by a kindly family of natives not unlike his own family, and upon rediscovering his destiny as the Wakan Tanka, found himself on a quest to master all four elements of the Great Spirit in a sprawling castle of smoke and steel called Triumph City. Powersource: The Wakan Tanka, "the sacred" or "the divine" in Sioux culture. This is usually translated as "The Great Spirit". Fighting: 10 (w/Sky: 20) Agility: 10 (w/Sky: 20) Strength: 5 (w/Earth: 25) Endurance: 10 (w/Sky: 20) Reason: 6 Intuition: 10 (w/Nature: 20) Psyche: 15 (w/Nature: 30) Resources: 1 Charisma: 4 Max Health: 35 Starting Karma: 31 Talents/Skills: Hunting, tracking, meditation, archery, survivalist skills Powers/Equipment: Earth: the geokinetic ability to manipulate earth and rock, in all their various forms. As a relative novice, Sleeping Boy is familiar with limited geokinetic powers such as earth levitation (up to eight hundred pounds, at the most) and seismic sight, which allows him to channel the earth to gather awareness of his surroundings and the dangers therein. Sky: the aerokinetic ability to control and manipulate currents of air, up to speeds of ninety miles per hour. As a relative novice, Sleeping Boy is familiar with limited aerokinetic powers such as using air currents to accentuate speed, agility, and basic melee attacks. Fire: the pyrokinetic ability to create and control fire. Sleeping Boy has the ability to excite or speed up an object's atoms, increasing their thermal energy until they ignite, not necessarily objects, but also air particles. Nature: Unlike the other elements, Wakan Tanka's connection to nature is one of the most critical to the host's oneness with all things. Nature allows for a direct connection with the Great Spirit itself, with a renewed sight of earthly and celestial bodies alike. Sleeping Boy is the least skilled in this power; it saved his life once before, but beyond that, he often lacks the patience to meditate to further pursue this connection. {Lauren Whitelaw, FlashPoint } Character Name: Lauren Whitelaw, ‘FlashPoint’ Costume/Appearance: Civilian AppearanceProfile: Lauren Whitelaw was the daughter of Alec and Clara Whitelaw, also known as Exocet and Ladybird, two prominent superheroes from the United Kingdom, and the two of the founding members of La Fraternité de Liberté, the premier team of superheroes from throughout the European Union. From the time she could walk, Lauren was raised to follow in her parents’ footsteps: while she, like her parents, had no superpowers to speak of, she was trained on a strict regimen of martial arts and other unpowered combat forms, and at the tender age of nine, joined at her mother and fathers’ side as their eager, young sidekick. Most of the time, however, Lauren only proved to get in the way; at such a young age, she was unprepared for the no-holds-barred ways of the world, especially in terms of fighting supervillains, and was frequently captured or incapacitated by her parents’ foes. During one such occasion, when the Whitelaw family was fighting a forgettable evil genius-type of ne’er-do-well attempting to steal experimental parts from the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland, Lauren was overpowered and, in the struggle, was caught by a malfunctioning particle reactor, nearly killing her; for several seconds, her heart had stopped, and had to be resussitated. Lauren survived the ordeal seemingly without any lasting effects, but her shaken parents forbade her from accompanying them on their patrols ever again, allowing her to earn her post in La Fraternité when she came of age. Lauren, for the most part, resigned herself to a normal life of your average tween . . . until she teleported to Lebanon and back. As it turned out, the malfunctioning particle reactor had bestowed upon her a bonafide superpower: teleportation. She could accelerate her particles on a molecular level to transport herself anywhere she had seen; from as little as from one corner of the room to the other, to places she had simply seen in pictures or television. Once more, despite her young age, Lauren became an important asset to La Fraternité. If only that could have lasted. By the time Lauren had returned to active duty, La Fraternité was experiencing the worst in-fighting in its history. Founding members abandoned their posts, retired, or turned against one another; the entire team splintered into sub-group after sub-group, until it was essentially a free-for-all that descended into bloody conflict, titan against titan. By the time every faction had come together to vanquish the other, the scene was a stalemate, and the destruction was massive, and would inevitably spill into the outside world, where civilian casualties would merely be collateral damage. Lauren refused to allow such chaos to go any further; with the most power she had ever used, she teleported each and every member of La Fraternité away, to a place that they could no longer hurt anybody else; she teleported them to the dark place she had gone when her heart had stopped, a twilit limbo between life and death, a fixed point in time that she could not replicate, where their battle would continue through eternity. At fifteen years old, Lauren was responsible for rendering La Fraternité de Liberté, in its entirety, defunct. Since then, Lauren has moved across the Atlantic to a place called Triumph City, where her aunt lives. She has also taken up her own, independent heroing mantle: FlashPoint, to redeem herself and her actions that ended an entire league of superheroes, and make the world a better place. Powersource: FlashPoint’s teleportation abilities come from sustained contact with a malfunctioning particle reactor. Fighting: 12 Agility: 18 Strength: 4 Endurance: 18 Reason: 10 Intuition: 12 Psyche: 6 Resources: 4 Charisma: 10 Max Health: 52 Starting Karma: 28 Talents/Skills: FlashPoint is trained in an assortment of martial arts, as well as a strict regimen of exercise and physical activity (i.e. biking, jogging, etc) Powers/Equipment: FlashPoint has the ability to teleport herself the clothes she is wearing, and within limits, certain amounts of additional mass (people she is in physical contact with, objects as large as your average automobile, etc) in contact with her. She can only teleport to places she has been, or seen. Overuse of her power, or extended amounts of teleportation at long distances, can ‘short it out’ until she regains her strength, or waits for a period of time. Alkonost Storm{Elektra Farron, Nephilim }(dead... for now...) {Peter Mors, Changeling}Character Name: Changeling/Peter Mors Costume/Appearance: He wears a bodysuit of what appears to be scale mail and the outfit itself is compltely black. Physically he appears to be in his late teens. Profile: A young man from Triumph who at one point disappeared without warning or notice, though none noticed the difference save for himself and those responsible: the faeries. For a long time, Peter grew up in the court of Faerie King Oberon and during his time there, developed powers that would stay with him forever, even after escaping from the Faerie otherworld. Upon returning to the human world, he found that he no longer aged like a normal human, or at all. He was immortal now. While searching for a way to fix this, he has decided to work as a hero in Triumph city to support himself, as well as in the hopes of finding away to rid himself of his immortality. Despite that her looks give the impression she's that one high-school girl who has a possee wherever she goes and isn't very nice, she's actually a good girl and her heart's in the right place, even if she seems to have an incredibly specific obliviousness towards the affections of any one who may have a crush/something more for her. Like Cupid and Scorched Earth, she too has an animal sidekick, a Paradise Tree snake called Asklepius. She is 16 years old. Fighting: 30 Agility: 20 Strength: 10 Endurance: 30 Reason: 5 Intuition: 15 Psyche:14 Resources: 8 Charisma: 25 Max Health: 90 Starting Karma: 34 Talent/Skills: Singing, Bringing out the beauty in everyone, cooking Powers/Equipment: -Can create singularities (or small, localized black holes) -Can travel through different dimensions -Can warp space or one's perception of it -Can manipulate darkness and shadow, from plunging a given area into darkness to using it offensively against her enemies. She can also use it as a healsource. (+15) -Chaos Blade: A chain sickle she wields with remarkable efficiency though on occasion she still messes up from time to time, due to not having completely recovered all the body memory that comes with wielding the weapon. (+5 to FIG) Fiery Firefly{Natalia Dmitriovna Zakova, Natasha, Scorched Earth}Name: Natalia "Natasha" Dmitriovna Zakova/ Scorched Earth Costume/Appearence: Profile: Born in what was roughly the Russian equivalent to Triumph City, a haven to all Russian superheros and a giant magnet for trouble. Her powers are hereditary, her grandmother whom she was named after, apparentely helped saved the world from certain destruction back in the 1940s, with the help of an international group of magical girls. The details are a bit sketchy and lost to time, considering most of the original members are dead. But Natasha keeps the legacy living. Her powers are pyrokinetic and she spent her time burning various threats to a crisp in her hometown, while trying to live the life of a normal Russian girl. And then she was accepted to a foreign exchange program and moved to Triumph City, not realizing she's not exactly getting a break from superhero work. Personality wise, Natasha is a pretty ordinary 17 year old girl. She's a bit of a loner at school because of her super hero work constantly getting in the way of socializaion, and in America she also gets people calling her a "fucking commie". She's a bit belligerent toward those she cares about and teases them, but it only shows she cares for them. Power Source: Magical Fighting: 13 Agility: 22 Strength: 15 Endurance: 19 Reason: 19 Intuition: 22 Psyche: 25 Resources: 2 (parents are all the way in Russia, and can only send care packages once in awhile) Charisma: 6 (Not particularly a people person... prefers to get job done) Max Health: 69 Starting Karma: 66 Talents/ Skill: Talent in Archery Powers: Can create fire out of nothing, and can control it. This can range from small fireballs that burn people to being able to set shit on fire, (+ 30 damage). She has a bit of a hard time controlling where her fire goes, and can cause collateral damage by accident. Can also create a smokescreen, that can cover up her tracks and confuse her enemies. (controlled by Psyche level) {Justin Maddox, Chaos} Character Name: Birth Name: Justin Maddox Hero Name: Chaos Costume/Appearance: Civilian Appearence media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/92/97/ff/9297ff37e0fafa4ee40c79c77d104f1d.jpg Hero Appearence: i853.photobucket.com/albums/ab94/FieryFirefly/Justin_zpse09732aa.pngProfile: Justin is a hybrid of a human and an entity known as a “Keeper of Possibilities”. “Keepers” as they’re called for short, live in a realm outside of space and time, and are blessed with the powers of reality warping, and use them to create and maintain alternate realities and timelines, and very rarely leave their realm, let alone interact with mortals. The sole exception to this was Justin’s father who… well to put it bluntly was a troll who fucked around with humanity throughout the ages. It is believed that trickster gods in many cultures such as Loki and Pan, were derived from him using his powers against humanity. Justin was yet another of his pranks on humanity, where he impregnated a virgin woman with his powers, creating what was an exact genetic copy of her except for gender. For the added lolz, he made sure to do it to a woman named Mary. Justin developed very similar powers to the keepers, though because of his hybrid nature, he is unable to warp the past or future, and only the present, and also his powers are extremely unstable, and its very rare he actually has the outcome he wants. He is now 17 years old, and has recently returned to his hometown of Triumph City, from an out of state boarding school he had been sent to, since he accidentally burned it down with his powers. He had been trying to make a snowday Powersource: Genetics? Fighting: 13 Agility: 18 Strength: 10 Endurance: 20 Reason: 25 Intuition: 18 Psyche: 40 Resources: 40 (he had been born to a rich heiress, and benefits from high society) Charisma: 15 Max Health: 61 Starting Karma: 82 Talents/Skills: None really, he’s the sort to go from hobby to hobby until it bores him. Powers/Equipment: Has the power to alter reality, which manifests into teleportation and the ability to alter matter. For example, he can attempt to change a real gun into a squirt gun before it shoots him. However his hybrid nature makes his powers very unstable and things rarely go the way they should. As such, when he uses his powers I’ll leave the results up to Per, and not myself. While he CAN use his powers on living things, he refuses to do so, since with the unpredictableness of his powers, he can accidentally kill them, he limits himself to using them on inanimate objects or effecting things such as weather. mekasoundwave{Elvis Queen, Reactor} Character Name: Elvis Queen (birth name)/Reactor (alias) Costume/Appearance: Profile: Elvis was born somewhere in New Mexico to a pair of parents who worked as Nuclear Technicians and Engineers.His parents' work always interested Elvis, and he actually felt like going into that field...if the whole "music" thing didn't work out. During a visit to the power plant at which his parents worked, Elvis was trapped inside a reactor with no protection for several hours. When rescue crews managed to get inside, they were shocked to discover that Elvis was perfectly fine. Well, he certainly seemed that way, at least. Elvis soon began experiencing...strange things. He woke up one day to discover the pigment in his hair died, turning it white. He found himself to be incredibly strong all of a sudden. One time his pee glowed in the dark. Elvis had himself examined again and discovered that he was generating and constantly building up atomic power as a result of his accident. Elvis continued to learn more about his strange new powers as time went on...and the more he learned, the more he realized how dangerous he was. Knowing that, if left unchecked, his powers could be incredibly destructive and kill countless innocent people, Elvis sought a way to learn control. Triumph City seemed like the best idea, so he ran away from home and set course for Triumph City, hoping to reach it before he caused something he'd regret. Elvis is... a complex individual. He may seem stoic or reserved at first, but that's just a ruse he puts on. You see, he discovered that any emotion that causes his heart rate to increase (Fear, Excitement, Anger, etc) will cause an increase in the amount of energy he produces, so he tries to keep that under control. He's actually a very emotional person. Fear is the main thing that had him depart for Triumph, after all. But for the most part, he stays a quiet, relaxed and somewhat snarky person. When you do get him to actually show some emotion...well, there's a lot of it. Expressive would be a good word for him. Once he gets going, it's hard to make him stop for better or worse. Emotions are what drive people, and this goes double for Elvis. He also harbors guilt and martyr complexes, desperately wanting to do something useful with his powers instead of them potentially hurting someone. Powersource: Heart is a nuclear reactor that generates radiation and atomic power. Fighting: 5 Agility: 20 Strength: 32 Endurance: 50 Reason: 5 Intuition: 5 Psyche: 10 Resources: 3 Charisma: 15 Max Health: 107 Starting Karma: 20 Talents/Skills: -Rudimentary knowledge of Radiation, Atomic Power and Nuclear Weaponry. Nothing incredible, just stuff you could learn by doing a little research. -Breakdancing and Beatboxing. Crime is gonna get SERVED.-Has a good singing voice and can play the guitar. Powers/Equipment:-Regeneration: Reactor's cells regenerate at an incredible speed, allowing him to recover from what would normally be crippling or mortal blows if given the time to rest and heal up. -Energy Absorption: Reactor can absorb energy from his surroundings to add and convert to his own reserve of power. This is normally Sunlight and it's UV radiation or normal electricity, but he CAN absorb weaponized energy. He just has to focus on absorbing it, and even then it's not a sure fire thing. -Atomic Energy Control and Projection: Reactor can utilize his....Reactor to use destructive and potentially deadly Nuclear Energy. It can be used in beams/waves, blasts and bursts. The attacks themselves are a very bright green color and hit with immense force, often causing an small explosion when hitting a target. The size of these attacks depends on a number of factors, including his emotional state and energy reserve level. Additionally, they give off radiation that afflicts whatever it hits. A normal energy attack (that is, no karma, not over or undercharged on power and calm) afflicts anywhere between 1-5 Gys of radiation to it's target. He has the capability to fire larger, more destructive and more radioactive attacks, but that usually requires a surplus of energy and/or extreme emotional duress. (20-30 Points in Normal Range, 30-50 when going beyond that). Emotional Enhancement: An increase in heart rate, often cause by intense emotion, will cause an increase the amount of energy produced by his heart, giving him more energy to fight with and use for attacks. iHodor{John James Jefferson, Warrior Hopper} Character Name: John James Jefferson (birth name), Warrior Hopper ('hero' name) Costume/Appearance: Stands at about 6'6. Profile: A former local baseball player turned store clerk. Also a victim of a kidnapping to turn him into a cyborg by a secret sect of Nazi remnants that was shut down before more cyborgs could be created. Because... that happens, apparently. Point is, he died during it. And dying? Dying is a goddamn bummer, man. ...So another demon, one who likes killing things, revived him as a hulking monster of a man, standing just an inch or two shy of 8 feet- with the deal that he'd help Kyle save Val. And when the newly-superhuman Kyle woke up, and after slowly going through the mansion and getting rid of the demons in the mansion (and the mansion itself by proxy), he'd find that Valerie and the Good Doctor weren't there. They weren't even in the city, and somehow not the state either. So he did what every pissed off, driven boyfriend would do: Go cross country to find him. Because the demon suggested it, claiming ' Every mad man goes to Triumph, I mean, have you ever dealt with this shit before?'. How this demon knew what Triumph was is a mystery. He's still a bit stir crazy, meaning he's absolutely batshit and bloodthirsty. Though he did suggest Kyle put on an antique skull mask since ' Nobody wants to see what your face looks like right now, Kyle'. Character Name: Arthur Kenndrick, Echolibrium Costume/Appearance: Out of costume, Arthur is a blonde man standing at 5'6 with blue eyes and small glasses perched upon his nose, which easily breaks, causing him to panic - a quarter of his salary is dedicated to these accidents. He has a fondness for vests and ties, usually wearing a white shirt with a green striped vest. In costume, Arthur abandons his precious glasses for a set of goggles that basically enhance his vision the same way, and he wears a helmet coupled with a body suit with a circle logo on it (silver-and-blue). No matter what outfit he's in, he happens to trip over it all the time (causing frequent apologies) and he can't help that. Also, he's British. A good RL faceclaim would be Matt Czuchry. Profile: Arthur Kenndrick was born to a small family somewhere in London, where he grew up alongside two sisters and a brother, getting for the most part a normal education. He then went to America to get a teaching degree in English, succeeding and taking it upon himself to use it well. It was about at that time when Arthur - being the overly-caring person he is - checked his spam email for entertainment and found a notice about a 'rare experimentation' going on at what appeared to him to be nothing but a normal house that he'd passed many times before.
Stopping by out of sheer curiosity, he was surprised to find a childhood friend of his - Mary Winters - was one of the people working on the project. They called it the 'Echo Project'. Essentially guilted by his former connection, he undertook the experiment - a process for which he remained unconscious. When he awoke, he had an odd feeling about him - as if something had changed. He looked around at the home, which now appeared quite empty. As he tried to find someone, he walked into the kitchen, and found Mary, clutching her head and screaming, moreso as he got closer and closer. Not knowing how to help, he fled.
Fearing his own power, Arthur looked for another way to nullify it, but found no way to do so. He was trapped with the powers. He knew how they were triggered - in moments when he felt that he needed dire help - but he didn't know what they did. That was fixed when he found two robbers attempting to kill a student of his. He triggered his powers, and at that moment, he realized what they were: he could tap into others minds and nullify their thoughts, decreasing their senses...but he didn't know how to control them. He was accidentally hurting his student as well, causing him to fear his power more than ever. He moved recently to the city to hopefully forget all of that previous, but, of course, that wouldn't be so easy, would it... Powersource: Experimentation, see above Strength: 5 Endurance: 6 Agility: 6 Reason: 20 Charisma: 10 Heart: 20 Wealth: 10 Hitpoints: 17 Dramapoints: 50
Talents/Skills: Certified English teacher (has a college education, teaching degree) Powers/Equipment: Power to nullify thoughts/decrease senses through mental projection (possibly can be used to create hallucinations if trained well enough?); has a small shotgun for just-in-case

Thank you, looks good. Everything seems to add up. Average intellectual young man. Seems to match off well against Hazard(who may or may not still be active).
Let's see if I'm reading this right: His power reduces the reasoning(both holistic and logical) of all targets within range by at least 20(his own Heart rank) points. That means that, when dealing with average targets unaware of his powers, he can effectively shut down up to four people at will, rendering them into a brain dead/coma like state(they recover the moment he relaxes his power). Against eight people he can reduce them to an infantile state but they will still be functional(if stupid and near blind) people. Against huge crowds his power starts growing less effective as the reduction is spread over everyone present. Potent against small numbers, but within, even slightly below, average power ranges.
Against a target expecting his attack however, they will be able to resist his effect with a Heart(Resisting) check of their own. Inhumanly powerful wills can probably resist his efforts(hence why he carries a shotgun, which does 20 damage on average, I guess).
Yep, you're good. Want me to have him attending the Mutant Rights Rally at the school? No other player characters are involved, but it'll be something to do until we can gather the players together(which is always tricky to do it seems).
Also, I'm still working on finishing the "Story Thus Far" part in the above post(more than halfway done! I swear!), and then translating the FASERIP(RC) to SEARCH(W). Fighting becomes Agility(melee), Intuition becomes Reasoning(Holistic), Resources become Wealth(and both are mostly ignored as pointless), and Charisma is officially part of the six. Which means I'll need the FASERIP write ups in the old thread so iHodor DO NOT DELETE IT YET.
I've been a bit under the weather so it hasn't been going as fast as it should.

Soon as the fight on the overpass is over, I'm offering this up for free narrative. Give the crew a chance to socialize, go to school, do stuff that doesn't involve beating up bad guys or stopping crimes.
Also, if Warrior of Light and/or Fiery Firefly and/or anyone else who is going to be involved with the school drama would be so kind, when Cupid and Scorched Earth, in their civilian identities go to school, could you have them encounter the following characters? You can play them however you want within their character roles.
Character Name:Rashida Stryker Costume/Appearance: School cheerleading outfit. Also rather likes clothes that show a lot of skin and bright colors to offset her dark skintone. She has long hair often braided. Profile: Rashida is one of the schools 'queen bees'. She has exceptional grades, is very athletic in attractive ways(avoiding most sports but putting in time for cheerleading or anything else that would make her more popular), and is a manipulative bitch who has a psychological need to demonstrate her superiority to everyone present. This includes bullying and harassing less popular students. Isolde becomes one of her primary targets, encouraging Isolde to focus more on her superheroic life than return to the torment of school. SEARCH: NA(assuming that she's an above average high school student)
Character Name:Selina Locke Costume/Appearance:Greek features(olive colored skin, long curly dark hair), and likes dark clothing but doesn't hide behind it. Average height. Profile: One of Rashida's posse, she's less athletic and more artistic than her leader, she's easily ignored or filed in as simply "Rashida's minion". She'll only bully if Rashida directs her, or if she thinks she absolutely won't be caught. Selina isn't alone in backing up Rashida, but is a good example of the posse of girls that Rashida has with her. SEARCH: NA(assuming that she's an average high school student)
Character Name:Bethany Yuzuki Costume/Appearance:Japanese/French(canadian) girl, at her age looking more asian than otherwise, but having little in the way of the accent or mannerisms(she takes after her mother more). She wears her hair short in a pageboy cut and likes to wear darker colors, not yet having gotten over her habit of hiding herself in her clothing though she's trying to show off more she's not sure how far to go with it and errs on the side of modesty rather than pushes the envelope. She's still pretty short for her age though. Profile: Beth had been an awkward mousy girl last term, but near the end of the term she had started to 'bloom' in both the physical sense, and due to an event that gave her a new perspective on her life. The change is dramatic enough that other students are apt to remark on it(certain boys will probably comment that she now has the best breasts in the class, though obviously this is a matter of opinion). She's now working harder, getting fit, and being more self confident, though she retains a caustic sarcastic tone she'd developed as a self defense during her more awkward stages. She could be a good friend to Cupid, having been on the receiving end of Rashida's bullying for the longest time herself, or now that she's getting more confident, Rashida might try recruiting her as part of the mean girl posse. It somewhat depends on how everyone treats her as to which way her life will go. SEARCH: NA (assume she's an average highschooler until you hear otherwise)
Character Name: Rocky Luminous Costume/Appearance: Short quiet boy with short dark curly hair. A racial mix easiest defined as 'white'(may have some asian mixed with russian and german). He likes wearing blue tones, so will often be seen in blue jeans and a white or black tshirt with a blue windbreaker if the weather calls for it. Profile: Rocky is a quiet boy who just transferred in this term. He is studious, polite, and friendly, though sometimes a little slow and naive. He doesn't make friends very easily, shying away from anything more than shallow social interactions(for example, he'll hang out with you at lunch, but if you ask to see him after school he gets commitment shy and avoids you for a bit until he thinks he's off the hook). You likely won't see him outside of the school, while the three girls above you probably will encounter around town. He's mostly here to introduce him prior to it being revealed that he's somehow managed to be come Patricia "PrettySparrow" Warren's boyfriend(she's home schooled, so how they'll meet is still unknown). SEARCH: NA (assume he's a below average highschooler until you hear otherwise)

It's a big school, full sized classes, there can be multiple characters they meet and interact with. I only offer up those four because three of them will hopefully be called on later due to plot(and Selina is just there to reinforce that Rashida is not alone in picking on the fat clumsy little Isolde). Feel free to include other characters they meet at the school, more the merrier! Or the more dramatic, since Rashida is not supposed to make anyone 'merry'...

Character Name:Erika Habersham Costume/Appearance: img.charahub.com/c162324_fcfb4b974bdf42b194a32ee3f3397d00.jpg Profile: Erika Habersham is the granddaugter of Abraham "Honest Abe" Habersham, and Ayako Fujima. Despite coming from hero stock, she has no powers herself. She is a senior at the girls' school, and is the student council president, and that person with so much pep and school spirit, that it annoys you, but at the same time you can't exactly hate her. Also she has her grandfather's...obsession, but instead of it being about detective stuff its about cheesy romance novel tropes. She's pretty much convinced she's living in a romance novel waiting to happen, and that she's the star of it.

Giving everyone involved in the overpass scene rewards for saving the civilians(Flashpoint teleported two cars occupants to safety and Cupid saved her parents). No rewards for healing/calming Ramhorn(though I suppose the healing spell can be added to Cupids powers list, even though that trick should have costed her karma to pull off since it wasn't already listed) or defeating the SUV-bot(though Cesspit is allowed to keep it's head as a trophy). I wrote those to finish the scene since nobody else was.
Flashpoint can stick with Ankylo' until he's super-leaped himself to safety, or return to Cupid(teleporting into the backseat of the car with her as her parents drive off?), or whatever. Ankylo' will have his helmet mic working by now, if you want to talk.
Doctor Starlight wanted to talk to Karma and Cesspit about them mentoring new junior heroes, namely the team of "magical girls"(which aren't all girls, given that Sleeping Boy is part of the team, and Reactor probably will be too) which we need to name.

Yeah, sorry for not really posting much. I just sorta'... fell out of it. I want to make another character to freshen things up for myself, one that I'll actually use, so... ;3. Character Name: Pyjak 'Jak' Urn / Kaiju. Costume/Appearance: img.photobucket.com/albums/v726/AndrewMD/reaperyagh-1.jpg Profile: A culmination of a generation of genetic manipulation, advanced alien technology and baptism by fire, Pyjak was a former shock trooper for a long, long dead alien civilization who floated the solar winds until he crash landed on Earth in 1828 in Tokyo, Japan. After some understandable language barriers and some frantic destruction of the Japanese Navy, Pyjak eventually learned to communicate with Humans, namely Japanese and Chinese, and was tutored by the Samurai-class of Japan. He only responded to men of martial status. Throughout history, Pyjak has been present at every Japanese conflict up and until World War II, where-in early years mutant Marine Raiders captured Pyjak at Guadalcanal. To cut his story short, it was only until the early 70s', after leaked government documents and protests by Alien Rights Activists was Pyjak released to the outside world. Pyjak follows a set of disciplinary rules gathered from numerous martial cultures around the world, which has brought him into the world of defending the people of Triumph City, one of the few places he is tolerated. He has a keen interest in modern rap, lives in a government-sponsored warehouse, is an employed 'weapon' of the United States Marine Corps, a Japanese citizen, decorated war hero and owner of eight dogs, ten cats, a murder of ravens and an Emu farm, the latter of which is his mainstay of sustenance. He is also fond of scented candles. The hyper-aggression and brutal shock trooper Pyjak once was has calmed over the centuries and he is now a, in his own words, 'productive member of Human society'. He is an activist for Alien Rights, has a firm set of rules and is currently taking anger management classes. He is somewhat of a 'celebrity' among the Japanese people, a living part of their history, and is the unofficial mascot of the 4th Marine Regiment, as well as the reigning wrestling and boxing champion at Parris Island. Powersource: Genetic manipulation and alien technology. Strength: 25/30. Endurance: 25/30. Agility: 10/15. Reason: 15/20 ((Note: All of this feels too 'high-level' for me, but I'm not sure how overpowered a genetically modified 'super' soldier should be. I just imagine that after fighting alien civilizations and then Humans for so long, he'd be good at gauging reactions in a fight, not so much how to fix a car.)) Charisma: 5/1. ((Too big and too loud. He relies more on his explosive power in a battle than his ability to sneak up on an enemy.)) Heart: 5/30 ((I'm not sure how to scale this, so... as a note, he'd probably be as susceptible to mind control as anyone else. This was more scaled to note his fearlessness in combat.)) Wealth: 5/5. ((Government sponsored. He refuses donations and celebrity paychecks (mostly from Japan) and makes most of his money as a member of the United Stares Marine Corps in a Reserve position.)) Hitpoints: 60/75. Dramapoints: 25/51. Talents/Skills: Shock tactics, strategy, tactical insertion, advanced military maneuvers. He can also cook Emu like no one else, can speak Japanese, Chinese and English and has some veterinary and first-aid skills, after having fought so long in war for the latter and raised so many animals over the years for the former. He is also an avid boxer and wrestler. He also has some construction skills, namely from the fact that he uses his immense strength and size to assist the community. Powers/Equipment: While Pyjak has been 'disarmed' over the years, he still has a powerful arsenal at his disposal: - One, left-hand mounted cannon that fires a precise blast of plasma. The result can vary from third-degree burns to complete disintegration. ((Seems a bit over-powered to me. I imagine this will be his 'karma' weapon, something that is very much so last resort.)) - One, right-hand cannon that has now been disarmed after having malfunctioned during World War Two, when a Marine Raider detonated a grenade in the tubing. He now uses it to hold a large, metre-long blade. He, however, will more so than ever just rely on his pure size and strength. His 'race' was chosen for their natural build. He stands over two metres tall, with a wide build that would have been called stocky if not for his gigantic size. Pyjak attempts to be as non-lethal as he can be, preferring to use pure explosive aggression to overpower his enemies. Often, a mugger would prefer to drop the purse than try a hand at taking Yahg. Whatever advanced alien weaponry Pyjak once had was confiscated by the United States Military, which has now advanced modern age medical and combat technology.

Interested to see the abilities, both the basic stats(could you include how tall he is?) and his powers/equipment. I'm a little edgy that you might be making something a little too powerful or at least too unwieldy. Then again, if he pets kittens he probably isn't Godzilla, or even Ramhorn/SUV-bot(the largest foes we've encountered so far), size.
There is an Alien Rights movement active in Triumph City and the general world as a whole. Triumph City government, and presumably many other governments including both Japan and the US, have Departments of Alien Relations. The head of Triumph City Department of Alien Relations is basically an Invader Zim expy for reference. He's strangely beloved and was reelected to his position, despite his occasional tirades about destroying the pitiful hoo-men filth.
That said, the Mutant Rights is probably more active, given that not a lot of aliens make themselves as well known(Doctor Starlight is technically an alien. Or rather he's using an alien symbiote{one that has at least some control of his mind if not complete control} to fuel his 'magic'), and it's entirely possible they have a much lower population density. And there's probably a good bit of intersectionality, with normal humans, mutants, aliens and magical creatures from another realm, all trying to live peacefully as possible together.
Obviously, in order for there to be supervillains to face our superheroes, there are 'criminal' aliens just like there are 'criminal' mutants, magical creatures, and normal humans. We've already been introduced to the Sectoids(they resemble the Roswell Grey Aliens and use psionics and mutated servants) who are so far purely villains. I'm going to assume that Kaiju fights against such villains.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EDIT
Okay, with the numbers you just put up he looks pretty good. Heck, I'd say that's a bit under-powered for a Reaper-fied Yagh, or at least something that has the appearance of one. Of course, and I could be wrong here, a Yagh is somewhat taller than two meters(someone correct me if I'm wrong there, all I know is that they're taller than a Krogan). Either way a 30, while not strictly "super human" is also better than anything a normal human can reach, even with dedicated training, and so a cybernetically enhanced alien super soldier would conceivably have that number pretty easily.
You're using the / to separate your stats there, which I'd say normally implies two different forms or an "in armor/out of armor" style. But this particular character doesn't seem to have different forms or differing abilities, he's an alien and that's how he is all the time.
Of course, you could also be wanting to define your character more specifically, since each of those stats covers two substats. Which I should have seen leading to this trouble sooner. If I work on the assumption of substats, then you only need one listing for Health and Karma, your character starts at their equilibrium point.
That issue aside, he looks good to go. Go ahead and have him show up somewhere. Maybe he runs into Kyle or Angel on the streets and wants a word with the new arrival?
Does Justin fall under "Alien Rights", since he's a hybrid of a being from another dimension? Or would he be a mutant?
Post by JW% on Jul 10, 2014 18:39:05 GMT -8
That depends on two things. The first is his personal choice of what community he wishes to identify himself as. He could very easily qualify as an Alien, or a Demi-God(a very small community but there are a few), an Extra Dimensional Arrival, a Magical Being, a Mutant, or just a Powered Individual. It mostly depends on how you see yourself, and what kind of labels you want to give yourself. These kinds of origins are many, varied, and personal, it is a broad, many axis spectrum rather than clearly defined and obvious group of clear cut categories.
It also depends on if that particular community will accept you. Justin would probably be told to "Check his Privilege" if he claimed Alien Rights for himself in the presence of, say, a community of Mikesu refugees(who resemble green plushie kittens, obviously can't pass for human, nor have any particular supra-human abilities other than their childlike size, thus making them excellent choices for working in a sweat shop) simply because Justin can pass for human, and is rich and powerful. The Mikesu might be violently(at least as violent as a plushie kitten can be) opposed to Justin claiming himself an alien and requesting Alien Rights on the grounds that other aliens(namely themselves) deserve special treatment for their uniqueness(I rather doubt that Justin is going to watch his parents or children be kidnapped in order to work in a textile factory). A group of Tlalakans(who, despite different organ arrangements, look quite human, save for their pointy ears, until specific chemical triggers turn them into mermaids/mermen) however probably would find Justin reasonably deserving of the title if he upheld the ideals of Alien Rights.
And I honestly don't expect to use either the Mikesu or the Tlalakans in Triumph City... they're both aliens that were used in Transformers. Okay, maybe the Mikesu, if I could come up with some kind of sweat shop bust adventure.
I appear to be rambling. Will somebody please post?
The fact he was born from a human mother, and literally his powers are the only genetic thing he got from his father (if one were to examine his genes, they'd be identical to his mother, except for the Y chromosome being present) so him even proving he's half alien is almost impossible.
I'll post soon, I'm just a bit overwhelmed and not sure what to do.
An idea popped into my head that might not be all that good...
Basically, after about a full day or more in game of random interactions and character moments and stuff like that, the next combat comes up.
And in Guardians of the Brink, the same thing happens, a bit of character moments and stuff like that, then another challenge.
The idea is that the challenge is the same for both. A good excuse to demonstrate how the two teams work differently and approach problems in a different manner, not to mention have entirely different powersets and personalities.
The challenge is a bank robbery, with a few hostages and a couple of other twists(well... is making it an armed bank robbery REALLY a twist?), which gives both teams a bit of media coverage.
Just bouncing the idea off of everyone, see what they think of it.
Well, the problem was trying to keep him powerful but balanced. The numbers were to each of the respective stats, but yeah... I just wanted to keep him a bit grounded. With his story, there was so much room to make him incredibly powerful.
One weapon idea I had was that one of the 'cannons' on his arm acted like the Gravity Gun from Half-Life 2, picking up random objects and launching them at terminal velocity before I stuck with the melee weapon idea, since I kinda' imagined him carrying around some gigantic antique Samurai sword from the 1800s'.
Also, I'm all good for whatever. I might make another character just to round it out to three used (Pyjak, Creeper and this new guy) but I'm not sure. I'll see how it goes.
The original idea was to make an alien orphan crash land on Earth (like Superman) and be adopted by incredibly rich parents, who were scrooges in their own right, oil magnates and abusive of both workers and the environment. He was only adopted because his father, in his 60s', would buy anything for his girlfriend, in her 20s' and alien babies were the flavor of the month.
He crash lands in some New Guinea or Amazonian jungle, both parents dead, adopted by a tribe. Eventually he comes back to Triumph City, inherits their wealth, him and his Amazonian wife become villains who kidnap and freeze villains, heroes, political figures, etc.
She dies, he has a change of heart, becomes the protector of the people, uses his non-violent skills to take down villains without any blood shed, invests all of his immeasurable wealth into the poor and sick of Triumph, environmental preservation, etc... just becomes the nicest guy.
Or maybe some Vietnam War-era mutant. Either way.
Eh, I'm thinking that you guys have kept a balance pretty good so far honestly, so I'm not going to complain. We have some characters who are more powerful than others, such as Cesspit being easily able to beat up Cupid(not that he'd do such a thing, but he COULD punch her into the next zip code), so I'm thinking there's some flexiblity possible. Some stronger heroes, some weaker heroes. Good to know about the respective stats by the way, thanks.
Yeah, bring in Pyjak. I can't think of where he'd show up right now, but he's got pretty much a whole week to bump into any of our active characters and make friends. There could be an Alien Rights march(though the Mutant Rights March that was happening the same day as the overpass fight, the day I think we're still in, didn't go so well. A pyrokinetic mutant declared((or will declare, depending on timeline)) himself above unpowered humanity and started blasting mutants. Some could defend themselves, others couldn't and things went into chaos when police showed up to stop the riot) for him to attend or something. I'd say work it out with the other players.
Creeper is currently sane(relatively speaking) and being given a chance to rebuild his armor, so feel free to alter Creeper if you didn't like the way he played before.
As for your alien orphan wealthy adopted then orphaned amazonian villain turned pacifist hero... that's a bit complicated a backstory. I mean you could make it work easily enough, and I wouldn't mind seeing a few more wealthy elite in Triumph City(we have some already, NPCs now since they were from previous incarnations) since it explains how the city can actually do the things it's doing(it's pretty much the CITY not the Federal Government or even the state that funds all the hero encouragement projects like discount housing, free transit, and monthly stipends. That's crazy expensive like government projects) but you might want to work it out with the other players. See what kind of hero they think you'd like to play with them.
Okay here, apparently the freeform, write whatever you want, isn't going anywhere.
So... would anyone object to a time skip of about one week?
One week of getting settled into your new homes(Scorched Earth, Reactor), of going to school and meeting new people(Cupid, Chaos, etc), of learning what the 21st Century has to offer(Sleeping Boy) and just being normal kids with no superpower hijinx at all...
And then Cupid and Scorched Earth and anyone else who wants to show up gets caught up in a bank robbery by a crazy supervillain.
And then the magicalgirls talking animals(along with other heroes who haven't really joined the 'magical girls', like Changeling and Kyle) find something interesting(a ghost of a mansion. Yes, a whole buildings ghost. Seems like something that would drive Knight Kitty to drink.) to advance the "Magic Tournament" storyline.
Main issue would be Karma and Cesspit not having confronted and attempted to recruit Cupid, Scorched Earth, PrettySparrow, Reactor, and SleepingBoy(they don't yet know where Midnight Pulsar or the Maiden lives). You'd think they'd be on that and kinda have spent the week at least telling the kids parents "yeah, we're going to be doing... uh... after school training..." but if we're going to skip all that, we're missing the whole "everyone comes together and officially becomes a team" sequence.
