Alright, so everyone here has been seeing a lot of changes lately! We've got a new head admin, and are searching for more active staff members. We've also been talking about changing around the site a little bit to get more of a focus on fandom and the arts (writing, drawing, RPing, theater). We also want your guys' suggestions - for names AND for changes you want to see on the site. Do you think we need new boards, or to take some out? We're going to condense some things... here is the list of things we're thinking about so far: -Stephanie Meyer category should be condensed into one board and moved to Literary Discussions – could be a sub-board, but a board could simply say ‘a relic from the past, all discussion about Twilight will be in here, including non-book material’ -Maybe expand ‘community interaction’ into more than one category? Not necessarily needed, but if we’re going to expand into this area, it would be nice - give each of the arts sections their own specific categories. -Take out the clubhouses, which haven’t, for the most part, been posted in for two years. If you oppose or have any better ideas, please let us know.

I definitely agree with the first bit. The Stephanie Meyer section in general is a bit focused on the character of the lady herself - which, why people gave a shit about it before, I'll never know - and for the aspects and nuances of whatever she writes, that could easily fit into the confines of the Literary Discussion section.
And I agree with everything but the dismantling of the clubhouses - while it is true, that they haven't seen a great deal of traffic recently, I think they're something worth keeping around, even if they're not the most frequently-updated part of the site.

Honestly, I think it's probably a good idea to dismantle them for now and introduce subboards by seeing how threads on the subject does. So, say, threads based on ASoIaF/GoT get heavy activity- we introduce a club/subboard based on it. It works better than the current system, where you and handful of other just have to request the board.

Maybe you guys should merge the confabulate and chit chat board together in order to save some space. Maybe take out the boards that aren't active anymore.
In all honesty, whenever I go to the Writing Circle, I feel that it's almost dead because I posted there once and nobody really answers. Why not make the site a writing forum of the likes? Focus more on writing and have some resources to help other amateur writers such as myself. You know what i'm talking about. Make it like Absolute Write.

I think that's a great idea. If we can all advertize it like that, I think it'd be successful.

I think that's a great idea. If we can all advertize it like that, I think it'd be successful. Hopefully it will be because there are a lot of writers here on TS. I also see a lot of artists here as well. Why not give advice on publishing? How to write a query letter, what to submit to the publishers, self publishing, ebooks, what to write, what not to write, how not to write. Do you think anyone else will agree to this though? Maybe do some sort of poll or something?

Most of us who talk about it (even though it's just those of us in the RPU for the most part) all have thought that changing it to be geared towards the arts - writing, drawing, RPing - would be a good idea. We just need to advertize it like that and bring more people in.

Since you said that only the Roleplaying Universe is the most active, why not turn this site into an RP of some sort? That'll bring in more roleplayers.

Names? Wow, this is gonna be tough to choose because others might not like the new site of the website. Maybe try doing a poll. Let's give some ideas for a new name and then make a poll to see which one people like best. So far, I have nothing.

I have a suggestion: why don't you guys merge the Media Discussion and Chit-chat together? Why not turn Media Discussion into a sub-forum of chit-chat? It might help the site look cleaner since there are a lot of clutter here.

Make it like Absolute Write. @forbidden Desires: Because I didn't know anyone had been in the Writing Circle for some time, I failed to check there regularly. Though I do not know how helpful I might really be, I'd be happy to read anything you would like me to if you want another set of eyes. One caveat is that I am not much of a writer myself since I mainly write academic papers. However, any potential insight I might offer would be from the standpoint of an avid fiction and non-fiction reader--so take that for what it's worth. The same offer is open to anyone else. I will frequent the Writing Circle if I can be of any potential help. As for the general discussion and staff: I have an idea that the staff could consider. A philosophy subset and a history subset. Admittedly, I seem to recall that something like this *might have* been tried in a previous TS version. But perhaps it would be good to try it again? Also, I want to support the idea of merging a) Confabulate with Chit Chat, or b)Media with Chit Chat.

Confabulate no longer exists and it has been merged along with Chit Chat.

I have a suggestion: why not create a thread called "Self Published"? That way you can post threads about a self-published book. Like Gloria Tesch's Maradonia and any other vanity published book.

That's a good idea! It'd be a good way for those of our members who are published to get another foot in the door as well, by making others aware of their novels. Al?

Is there any way we could add some of "about" section to member profiles, where members could view member profiles to determine common points of interest? I'm a little surprised we don't already have something like that, actually.

Yeah, sounds fine to me. I'll add it to the list of things to do. Is there any way we could add some of "about" section to member profiles, where members could view member profiles to determine common points of interest? I'm a little surprised we don't already have something like that, actually. I think there might be an extension for that, I'll have to look around this weekend.
