A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...
BROKEN ECLIPSE
It is a period of renewed hope in the galaxy.
After decades of war, the GALACTIC REPUBLIC
has triumphed over the evil SITH EMPIRE, and
at long last, the shadow of the Dark Side seems
to have dwindled. For twenty years, the Republic
has steadily rebuilt, regaining control over lost
systems, while the Knights of the Jedi Order grow
rapidly in number to maintain peace and justice.
Not all is well, however, in the far reaches of space.
Crime lords run rampant, refugees from the wars still
number in the billions, and the Sith, while defeated,
are not yet fully destroyed.
are not yet fully destroyed.
On the smuggler's moon of Nar Shaddaa, the last of
the Sith Lords lie in hiding, waiting for the right time
to strike back against a hopeful Republic, and restore
balance to the Force....

Yeah. It's a Star Wars RP. Long time coming. Thanks Alko, for all the help!
TO CUT A LONG STORY SHORT
Broken Eclipse takes place around three thousand years before the rise of Palpatine's Galactic Empire, and the events of A New Hope. There's a lot of expanded universe history in between now and then, but for the context that matters for the RP, there's not much else that matters beyond a basic understanding of the setting - which just about all of you have by default - and the big events preceding this RP. So, in summation:
Not too long ago, the Galactic Republic was in a very precarious position; the galaxy was under siege, entire systems being conquered by the Mandalorians - a proud warrior culture of numerous species, who boasted the title of the ultimate warriors in the galaxy - in a bloody blitzkrieg through the Outer Rim territories. The Republic, beyond local planetary defense forces, who were woefully unprepared for the Mandalorian advance, did not confront their assailants in force for well over a decade, seeking out diplomatic or otherwise non-violent means of resolving the conflict, at the peril of billions upon billions of lives, destroyed planets, and the genocide of entire species.
Eventually, the Republic struck back against the Mandalorians, but by then, the aggressors had far too much momentum to stop them in the Outer Rim. Their armies grew, and their march toward the heart of the galaxy became far quicker and far bloodier. The Republic was at a disadvantage; their armed forces, however well-trained, were not nearly as skilled as the Mandalorians, and were vastly outnumbered and outgunned. Desperately, the Republic turned to the Jedi Order to assist them in fighting the war. The Jedi, however, refused to fight; they would help where they could, but it was against their pacifistic code to serve as soldiers in any army. Most Jedi obeyed the will of the Council... but others refused to stand idly by as the galaxy burned. The Jedi Knight Revan was the leader of this faction, who defied the Council by joining forces with the Republic and taking the fight back to the Mandalorians.
With the Force on their side, the Republic eventually turned the tides of war on the Mandalorians, and forced them out of the inner galaxy in a series of costly campaigns. Revan and fellow Jedi led the charge, and in the Battle of Malachor V, brought down the killing blow to their enemies - Revan defeated the leader of the Mandalorians, Mandalore the Ultimate, in single combat, while an experimental superweapon, the Mass Shadow Generator, was deployed on the planet's surface, killing every living thing, Mandalorian and Jedi alike.
With the war won, an exhausted Republic attempted to return to normalcy, and many of its fighting forces returned home to rest and celebrate their victory. Revan, however, sought to eliminate the scattered Mandalorian clans for good, and chased them further through the unknown regions of space with his own loyal army of Jedi and Republic soldiers.
When they returned, Revan was a Jedi no longer; he was now Darth Revan, Dark Lord of the Sith, and his followers had turned to the dark side as well. Revan's Sith Empire declared war on the crippled Republic and the Jedi who had remained, and sat idly by as the galaxy burned around them. The Jedi Civil War had begun.
The war was easily going in the Sith's favor, until Revan was betrayed by his dark apprentice, Darth Malak, who left him for dead. Recovered by the Jedi, Revan's memories were wiped, and he was retrained as a Jedi, who turned the tides once more in another hopeless war for the Republic, and defeated Malak.
While the war was won yet again, the Republic was in shambles; countless lives and planets had been lost, the Jedi Order was in hiding, their numbers dwindled to less than one hundred, and the remaining Sith waged a guerrilla war against them, covertly assassinating the last of the Jedi, until one remained: the Jedi Exile, who had commanded the activation of the Mass Shadow Generator and had not fallen to the dark side under Revan. Against all odds, the Exile returned, and defeated the three Sith Lords of the Triumvirate, finally bringing lasting peace to the galaxy.
That was twenty years ago.
Since then, the Republic has been rebuilding and rebounding, reclaiming lost systems and spreading their influence, while the Jedi have increased their numbers considerably, and have played an active role in the establishment of law and order throughout the galaxy, though it is an uphill battle. The Sith are in hiding; since the defeat of the Triumvirate, there are no more 'true' Lords of the Sith left, and what little numbers that survived have either hidden away or succumbed to infighting.
This RP is about one such group. They don't have to be Sith; it's Star Wars, dammit, they can be anybody you want them to be.
CHARACTER SHEETS
Name: (Remember, this is Star Wars, go sci-fi!)
Age:
Species: (Alright, there are a lot of these in Star Wars. Like, a lot. A lot. If you need any assistance, feel free to come to me or Alko about it, or dive in here to look for yourself. You've got a lot of options.)
Appearance:
History:
Strengths: (No, you may not be good at everything. This should go without saying. Include languages spoken, special skills or knowledge, etc. A crack shot with a blaster? A skilled hand-to-hand fighter? An artist with a lightsaber? Strong in the Force? More of a scholar than a soldier? Mind you, the more strengths you list, especially for combat skills, the less relative expertise you'll be considered to have for each skill.
Weaknesses: (This MUST be balanced with your strengths. Avoid clichés. If your character, for instance, has "temper" listed as a weakness, list particular things that might make him angry and specifically how this negatively impacts their decision making abilities or skills. If your character is a Force-user, and is an expert swordsman? Using the Force is probably one of these weaknesses. If they're the opposite? Lightsaber combat.)
ACCEPTED CHARACTERS
Name: Oro Anaan
Age: 18
Species: Human
Appearance:
History: Oro and her family were slaves for as far back as she can recall, with only the haziest memories of anything else. Despite this, Oro was impressively educated; her mother had served as a handmaiden and translator for many masters in her time, and passed such knowledge onto her daughter, as to save her from being used for her body, and not her mind. Though they lived their lives in abject conditions, Oro's family did what they could to make their lives as stable as possible, and were afforded a little leeway for their loyalty. This stability, however, would not last; due to unpaid gambling debts, the Hutt crime cartels on Nar Shaddaa took it upon themselves to have Oro's masters executed, and their slaves 'repossessed' as their own property. Due to their age, Oro's parents were sold away from her and her younger brother Reno.
Under the Hutts, and without their parents, conditions worsened, and abuse became even more commonplace. One night, Oro took it upon herself to resolve this mistreatment. She strangled her Hutt master to death, and broke free of her captivity along with her brother, the two runaways escaping into the Refugee Sector of Nar Shaddaa from the vengeful Hutt crime lords.
Strengths: Oro is an intelligent girl, much more than the slavers and Hutts ever gave her much credit for; she can speak five languages fluently, and comprehends several more, having adapted to learn from a young age. She has an understanding of droids as well, and is a handy technician when it comes to their maintenance and programming. Unbeknownst to her, she's also sensitive to the Force, a gift she remains unaware of.
Weaknesses: Oro is not strong, physically; she never was, and was never raised or forced to be a fighter, until quite recently. She can easily be overpowered by any opponent larger than her without much ado. Again, until the murder of her master, she'd never hurt a thing in her life. She's also untrained in the Force, despite her sensitivity to it; without proper tutelage, she's just as ready and able in it as anyone else.
Name: Nara Sumas
Age: Middle
Species: Looks human, rumors of Mandalorian blood
Appearance: tsdcv3.proboards.com/attachment/download/316
History: A bounty hunter that formerly specialized in dealing with exotic and threatening life forms and technology, Nara is currently somewhat down on her luck and bitter about the last several bounty jobs which had personal ties to them. A new job away from any personal connections to make some credits and maybe find a suitable patron among the gangsters would be just the thing to let her clear her mind and start over again.
Strengths: Physically quite powerful, possibly having grown on a high gravity world or with mandalorian training. High firepower modular armor suit, fully environmentally sealed, typically equipped with jump jet thrusters, blaster gun, flamethrower nozzle, mini-rocket launcher, and grappling hook. Light weight and allowing for decent flexibility and acrobatic feats(though not on Jedi level). Her own personal ship, though small, is capable of hyperspace jumps. A strong mind, she has been able to resist extreme pain and mental domination to some extent in the past.
Weaknesses: Force sensitivity is exceedingly weak, practically nonexistent(save for the defense against mental domination and possibly a reflex bonus). Her armor, while protecting against light blaster fire and basic blades or fangs, will defend against but not completely stop a lightsaber or heavy blaster bolt.
Name: Xulana D'joorr (pron. 'Dior'; fuck it it's star wars)
Age: Unknown but appears to be young, late twenties-early thirties
Species: Twi'lek (Lethan)
Appearance:
History: Starting out as a slave freed from her Mandalorian masters, Xulana was originally meant to join the Jedi ranks due to her sensitivity to the Force. After crossing paths with Revan, she decided to pursue a different path and follow in the footsteps of the Sith, eventually assuming the title of Darth Nox and coming into her own power. After Malak betrayed Revan, she took it as a sign and quietly made preparations for the worst, going into hiding when the Empire lost the war.
Currently, she's hiding in Nar Shaddaa, having taken up her original name to better conceal herself from the Jedi since the name that would prevail in history and memory would be the epithet of Darth Nox. While managing a living of sorts from the sort of commerce typically found on the Smuggler's Moon, she keeps an ear out for any information regarding Force users or matters related to them, patiently biding her time until the opportunity rises...
Strengths: She's strong in the Force, able to channel her power through long distance attacks in combat situations and even able to heal with it, having been trained in the arts of Sith Sorcery during her time under Revan and Malak. Focusing on long-range combat has enabled her to have a good eye for shooting, which has aided tremendously in her decision to use blasters and other such firearms while she remains incognito. Finally, she knows a few languages and is well versed in matters of Sith Lore.
Weaknesses: Despite being a skilled Sith, she doesn't do that well in close-quarters combat (comes with being a Sith Sorcerer) and relies on her Saber-staff (which can also split into two separate light sabers) or blasters to ensure enemies keep their distance. And while knowing how to pilot a space vessel, she's not very good at it.
Name: Azargo
Age: 34
Species: Dug
Appearance:
History: Born on the Dug homeworld of Malastare, Azargo grew up enthralled by the sprawling shadows of starships and merchant vessels passing overhead from the local Republic trading post, one of the largest hubs of activity on the sparsely-populated planet. The chance to see what the galaxy had to offer, beyond a menial existence of simple living like generations preceding him, was an offer too good to possibly refuse. At the first chance he got, he stowed away aboard a nearby starship, and thus began Azargo's less-than-illustrious mercantile career.
When the honest trade of selling and transporting legal goods was getting him down, with all the paperwork and haggling and breakdowns and crazed space pirates and corrupt Republic patrols and the occasional Mandalorian mercenary, Azargo found it prudent to turn to the trade of selling and transporting not-so-legal goods, as a smuggler. While this line of work was much more intrepid and adventurous, he often dealt with the same problems, and often became an even bigger target; out of the thirteen ships he'd ever helmed, nine of them were destroyed after failed escape attempts, another two confiscated by Republic trade officals, and the previous one sold off to pay back a severe gambling debt.
While life has slowed down somewhat for Azargo, the Dug smuggler is always looking out for a quick fix of credits, and has little scruples over how he gets it. His latest ship, a Herald-class shuttle named
