When the plague struck the world thought it was nothing. A few weaker people dying. When the plague swept across the world, with no visible vector, the world changed. A desperate hunt for a cure hobbled technological advancements in other fields and propelled bio-sciences in unheard of directions. Then the Guardians, six children sold into bondage and used as first human experiments then child soldiers, arose and pulled mankind back from the brink of destruction. Humanity was reduced in population dramatically before the cures were spread, but now the world, changed though it is, stands at the beginning of a golden age. An age of bounty and diversity. And a new generation of Guardians arise from the ranks of the old to continue their job of maintaining peace in a world still recovering from near destruction from not just the plague, but vicious giant monsters and hostile cybernetic and robotic forces.
You will play as a fourth or fifth generation Guardian, a human augmented into an unstoppable fighting force for justice and humanity. You work with the remains of the UN/WHO armed forces and as the story starts you are fresh from augmentation and are to start your final days of training and on-site duties.
For Age it should still be young, but can be post puberty. They've already been augmented and the process is a lot more forgiving by this point.
For Appearance, your uniform will be... well... uniform. This only applies to when they're not in uniform.
For Family History, the character may or may not be actually related to a prior Guardian. Preferably not. Some suspicious activity around your characters genetic line is intended to be built into the story, but just how well covered this is will be up to the player.
For Color, in addition to traditional colors like red, yellow, and blue, nontraditional colors like "Ruby" or "Amethyst" and other metals and jewels are included as potential options so that you don't duplicate others.
For the Additional Notes, elemental powers, specialized weapons, giant mecha and maybe animal themes will be given to the character in story, along with hopefully personalized challenges like confronting their fears. Please include what you think would be cool to see on the character, no promises as to it being actually included, the giant mecha we may never get around to, but I intend to work with players as much as possible. Additional Notes would be things like "trained in fighting with a staff" or "has a fear of spiders" or "has a fascination with fire" that may or may not resolve themselves into the characters development.
For those who played in the first Guardians of the Brink, this is maybe going to be less 'grimdark', depending on how the PLAYERS work it, I'm not going to push for the trauma this time and hope for more investigations and ass kicking to be done.
Also, as the original Guardians of the Brink were a 'grimdark' version of PowerRangers(the first or the 'MightyMorphing' version), this is now more drawing from the SPD or RescueForce versions. Probably most notably SPD, as you are not only a back up peace keeping force suddenly thrown into the spotlight, the world now also has a wide variety of... different people. I said "cures" above, an that plurality was intentional. Before the Guardian process devised by Mister Z was toned down enough that it could be used without killing people, both the cult of Doctor Vahzilok and the cult of the Jabberwocky released their cures. "Locks" are cyborgs, and "Wonders" are mutations, often with animal traits. Politically all three factions(Humans, Locks, and Wonders) are still counted as citizens, but there is tension between the three parties. From the start you will not be allowed to play as a Lock or Wonder, but NPCs may develop that are from these groups.
Also, you'll be given instory information of what was missed between where we left off in Guardians of the Brink, and where we are now.
