I haven't read the rest of the series, only the first one. I've been afraid to read anymore because I heard the story gets too chancy with all the morals. But the in I have read, I've read a thousand times...up until the end. I can't stand the ending. Castles and missions and nature and, well, it's just too boring.

I've only read the first one so far, but some of the sequels are on my winter break reading list. I really enjoyed the first one so I am hoping that I will enjoy the sequels just as much.

I haven't read the series. I've heard good things, but unfortunately I'm very familiar with the author's homophobic rants and tirades. I'm afraid that I can't read the books now without being biased against them because of that.

^Yeah, that's the same thing that's making me wary of it. I just watched the Nostalgia Chick's review of the book, and she suggests that just because the people in charge are assholes doesn't mean you have to boycott their stuff if it's legitimately good (Or "Homophobic campaigns are wrong but chicken sandwiches are tasty"). She was even surprised at his actions because according to her an organized religion is actually portrayed negatively in one of the books.
So, people who have read the books, is it still worth reading in your opinion?

It's definitely still worth it. Homophobia only manifests as heteronormality. I probably wouldn't have noticed it all if I hadn't known beforehand. A metaphor of parts of Mormon theology shows up in the later ones, but it wasn't oppressive and was mostly in Children of the Mind, a rather pointless book anyway, so you could not read it and be fine.

I'll read it eventually then. It seems really cool from what I've read.

lol These are most boring books that you will ever enjoy. I think I've read all of them, but the last few in the series always tend to just bleed together in my brain.

But at least they're still enjoyable, right? Not boring unenjoyable, like Twilight?

Oh yes, its just the writing style of the author, he takes these boring events of politics, and emails and just fills in the backstory of whats going on behind the narrator's back and makes it all very entertaining.

Is it possible to skip over the boring parts and still get through the books? (sort of like Tom Bombadil)

but you'll enjoy the boring parts, they tend to have lots of useful foreshadowing.
