Bare, blistered feet slapped against the cold muddy ground as a dirty looking young boy rushed through the cold, Hoenn night, looking for some place to call a shelter. His entire body seemed to be covered in mud and sludge, his once navy jumpsuit now stained almost consistently to a dark brown. His feet slapped against the stone and mud as he ran, his only two pokeballs clutched tightly in his hands. Hoenn was a dangerous place to be at night. One wrong turn could get you eaten by a Seviper, or ravaged by a Tropius. His lungs felt like they were filled with fire but still he ran.
The world of Hoenn was a wasteland. Storms pounded towns into submission while other lands were blasted by the unrelenting sun. The choice seemed to be either drown or bake, a choice that young Toby didn't seem to be ready to make.
He hadn't seen another trainer for miles. His body ached, his stomach was painfully empty, and his wet clothes felt like they weighed hundreds of pounds, and worst of all, he didn't know how long it was going to take for him to get to the next settlement. He knew he couldn't stop now. Wild pokemon were sure to gang up on him the moment he stopped moving. He needed to stay in motion as long as he could. Otherwise he knew he'd never make it. He shut his eyes tightly. It's just a little longer. he told himself. He'd been chanting to himself for hours now.Just a little longer and you can rest. You're almost there. We're almost there...
All of a sudden the ground seemed to roll out from under him, and one of the pokeballs in his hand flew out of his grasp. He looked up to see Freya's pokeball lying in the mud a few feet away. He stretched a hand out to the pokeball and slowly allowed to to roll into his hands. He wasn't much of a psychic, but at least he had a few little tricks up his sleeve. Slowly he righted himself, dusting himself off. That was when he caught sight of it. A red roof. Almost immediately a wave of joy crashed over him. A pokemon center. Of course, it wasn't a working pokemon center. The place was overgrown with moss and ivy, and most likely overrun with wild Zigzagoon and Rattata, trying to keep warm. Perhaps there would be a bit of left over food, and anything seemed to beat sleeping outside. It wasn't a settlement, but at the very least it was something.
He looked at his surroundings as he entered what had once been a small town. Fortree city. It was hardly reconizable as any kind of inhabitable place now. Mudslides had half buried the door of the pokemon center. The tree houses the town had once been famous for had been bowled over by hurricane winds. The remnants of civilization were still there: a broken tv set, a mud covered picture frame, a cracked half of a pokeball, but other than that, the place was ravaged. Unlivable. Toby shuddered a little bit as he made his way into the abandoned pokemon center, stepping gingerly over pieces of broken glass.
The inside was pitch black. He quickly tossed one pokeball up into the air, and an Abra appeared in the middle of the center.
We need some light. Toby stared straight at his pokemon. The Abra just seemed to stare back at him, a placid look on the pokemon's face.
Please? there was another second of silence, and then out of nowhere the little humaniod pokemon opened its otherwise perminantly shut eyes. Two beams of blinding light shot out, nearly blinding Toby himself. He shook his head. At least Baldur had obeyed him this time.
He looked around, trying to spot beds or a kitchen of some sort. He could see wild Poocheyna scrambling back into the shadows, startled by the light. Toby stayed back, looking around. There was something else moving in the shadows it seemed. Something big, much bigger than him. He backed away, fear arcing down his spine when suddenly he felt a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey, kid." Toby's eyes went wide and he jumped away. There was a man standing there, dressed all in black with nothing but a bright red R embroidered on his shirt. Fear clamped down hard on Toby's body.
"Don't you know this is Rocket Territory?" the man asked. His voice was heavy and gruff as he pulled a pokeball from his belt. Toby backed away.
I'm sorry. He closed his eyes, clutching Freya's pokeball in both his hands.
"What's that, kid?" the Rocket grinned a little bit, advancing on Toby, "Is that a present for me?"
Go away. Toby shook his head, almost visibly shaking.
"Listen, why don't you let me have that pokemon, and I won't have to tell the others I found a little kid trespassing on Rocket territory, alright?"
Toby just shook his head again, taking another step back. Go away. Please go away.
"Lets do this the easy way, huh kid?" There was a greedy, frightening grin on the Rocket's face as he reached down towards Freya's pokeball.
Make him go away... He glanced at Baldur, Please, make him go away!
Another flash of light came. This time it was aimed at the Rocket, blinding him momentarily.
"You little shit!" An enraged roar wracked Toby as he rushed away, "I'll kill you, ya runt bastard!"
There was a flash of light. The grunt had sent out a Zubat. Toby barely flinched now. He pressed the button on the pokeball in his hands, sending his Raltz out to fight. Confusion.
"Ariel Ace!" The rocket called, "Break the little shit's spine."
The Zubat quickly began to close in on Freya, wings poised to cut the tiny pokemon open. Before it could touch the Raltz, however, a blue aura had begun to glow around the pokemon's wings. There pokemon's wings slowly began to slow to a stop and the pokemon was flung back into the side of the pokemon center. It hit with a light crack. Not dead, but injured.
"Zubat!" the grunt's eyes went wide, "Get the hell up and fight! What are you doing?"
Hit it again. Toby's eyes narrowed at the pokemon. Everything was a threat. The pokemon's body sailed into the next wall, another little snap. A broken wing.
"What the hell is going on here?"
All of a sudden the light of a flashlight was on him, and a growling Poocheynna bared its teeth at him. Toby backed away as the grunt he'd been fighting scrambled away, gathering the remains of his broken pokemon into his arms. Toby swallowed hard. He'd messed with the wrong group this time. He closed his eyes as one of the men grabbed him by the shirt collar.
I'm sorry!
"Well then, ya little runt, what do you have to say for yourself?"
He watched as the grunts began to gather around the Rocket with the dying Zubat.
"Who the hell are you?" one of the grunts asked.
"I... I'm p-part of team rocket." the man stammered. Only now could Toby see his face. His eyes looked bloodshot and his face was drawn from hunger and dotted with stubble. He looked like he'd been living in the old pokemon Center for days. His hair was a rat's nest, body dissheveled and unkept.
"Like hell you are!" One of the rockets shouted, kicking the man in the gut. Another one of the rockets grabbed the injured Zubat, still struggling to fly with one wing broken. He took the pokemon in both of his hands, and broke its other wing before tossing it to his growling Poocheynna. Toby had to look away.
"Please no!" the man cried, a pokemaniac, "That was the only pokemon I have! Please give it back!"
"How long have you been living here?"
"I'm part of team rocket!" the man cried, "I swear I am! I really am!" tears were streaming down his face, "Give me back my Zubat! I promise I'll be good! Please! Please!"
"You're not going to need any pokemon where you're going." One of the grunts chuckled. He clicked one of his pokeballs open and released an angry looking Raticate. The man backed up a little bit.
"Wait! Please!"
"Raticate. Hyper Fang!"
Toby just backed away. The screams were already too much for him to bear. He held Freya close to his body, clamping his eyes shut
"You're not going anywhere that quickly boy." a hand caught his shoulder, "We've got our own plans for you."

At that moment, light was let into the Pokemon Center once more, as the rain outside became louder, the same coming through the door and echoing off the walls.
A flash of lightning obscured a figure in the doorway. He wore a ragged duster and a wide brimmed Fedora, his boots clamped against the floor.
Next to him was another Poochyena.
"The boy. Let him go." said the Wanderer.
"Who the hell are you?" growled one of the Rockets. "You're on Team Rocket territory!"
"I wouldn't give a shit if I was in God's Domain." said the Wanderer.
"What're you going to do, there's two of you and five of us." grinned the Rocket.
There was a pause when the Wanderer spoke. "Tell me, did your Radicate evolve on it's own time, or did you have to stuff it with rare candies to get it to evolve?"
The Rocket looked insulted at this.
"In fact, it's safe to say that none of you have ever been in a real fight before," said the Wanderer.
"You little shit!" growled the Team Rocket with the Radicate, "I've been in lots of fights!"
"Fights? Or acts of murder. You've preyed on the weak so much, that your pokemon have become inexperienced against a foe of equal or greater strength." said the Wanderer. "Those who prey on the weak, are weak."
"I've had enough of this little shit!" screamed the Rocket. "Radicate! Use Hyper Fang on that mutt!"
The Radicate charged at the Poochyena, and then both the trainer and the pokemon moved out of the way the Trainer's duster levitating in the air before gravity kicked in.
"Kyra, BITE."
The Poochyena moved swiftly, biting into the jugular of the Radicate, blood squirting all over the Poochyena's face, the Radicate struggled before it fell limp. The Poochyena let go of the bigger pokemon, revealing fangs blood red as drops of the red water fell to the ground.
Now it had become very clear, the trainer had taunted the Rocket with the highest leveled pokemon and got him to attack with no strategy going in, allowing for them to avoid the attack and make a precise counter attack that was aimed to kill.
Now they're most powerful pokemon was gone, making things a lot easier for the Wanderer and his Poochyena.
"Get him!"
Rattitats, and a poochyena came charging at the two.
The Wanderer dodged an attack by a Ratitat, which his Poochyena saw as an opening, quickly subduing the weaker pokemon with it's jaws. The other Poochyena came in to tackle the Wanderer's Poochyena, the Wanderer's pokemon glanced at the incoming pokemon with it's red eyes and kicked up dirt in it's face. The Poochyena yelped tried scratching at it's eyes as the Wanderer's poochyena, or Kyra, trackled it, the poochyena bit at Kyra's shoulder, who only winched before shoving the poochyena off and running in circles around the rockets remaining pokemon. The whole while, she was howling, her speed getting faster as she did so, she made a go at one of the ratittats, picking it up in her jaws and crushing it's ribs before throwing the pokemon at the other ones. Using this distraction to go in and tackle the other poochyena to the ground, again, smacking it's head against the floor, knocking it out. The last two rattitats moved in to attack "Kyra", who smacked dirt in both of their faces before continuing to circle around them.
In the mean time, the Rocket Grunts were barking orders at their remaining pokemon, another hand grabbed Toby, and jolted towards the door, his pokemon following the boy and the wanderer.
"Kyra!" called the Wanderer as soon as he was out the doorway, and then Kyra circled one more time before escaping through the door, which was closed and piece of floor board was put to wedge the door.
Before the boy could answer, the Wanderer spoke.
"We're not out of the woods yet, they'll break that door down soon, let's make some distance between us and that pokemon center."

Giovanni walked out into the moldy and rusty center of the reformed shelter that constituted Team Rocket's headquarters in Hoenn. His investigation into Silver's whereabouts as well as a timely crisis where law enforcement was thinly spread allowed the Rockets to move in swiftly and set up shop in the north part of Hoenn.
Within six months a firm grasp on the north-east part was established with a good handful of stranded refugees who where happy to throw their pokemon and money in for the cause. The flooding and extreme temprature had not gone unnoticed by the other regions and the Pokemon League did their best to ferry as many people away from the danger to the other regions in relative safety. Regardless there where many still left behind. Team Rocket offers safety and only requires a fee and the peoples silent consent. A more perfect con could not be concieved.
Giovanni put a finger on his pokeballs to make sure they were accounted for. He traveled with only three just to minimize risk while still being effective in combat. Persian, his loyal friend from when he was younger. Larion, a new pokemon that replaced his Rhyhorn when it was lost in a flood. Nidorino, bred from his Nidoking and Nidoqueen back in Kanto that he decided to raise himself.
Maybe because he couldn't raise his own...
Giovanni pushed the thought to the back of his mind. He saw the group of refugees huddled around a small arena, their shouts and hollers competed with the roaring rains outside.
In the arena two pokemon he was unfamiliar with where circling each other. A little green and yellow dog against a pink and yellow cat. A flash of light from inside the building made the crowd roar once more. A spectacle that caused money to be handed around that didn't interest him.
"Archer!" he called out to his senior administrator as he walked into the next hall, "My operations report?"
"Yes" he responded handing Giovanni a folder in his arm and continued to walk along, "Things are progressing well. We have another surge of refugees under our employment, we have established pit fights at operation centers, we have regular patrols for scavenging gear and stockpiling. Breeders are slowly attempting to establish breeding operations in our Kanto locations to study the Hoenn pokemon for themselves, and see their population regrowth to increase stockpiles of pokemon reserves. No holdouts on the small fees for our services. Ariana in the Johto branch and Proton that you left in Kanto branch has reported increase of income from refugees putting money in our shell companies. Sabrina has also reported a downturn in Silph Co.'s stock and profit from them pouring resources into over seas rescue efforts."
"You've done well. Any progress on that 'other' business?"
"None sir."
"Very well." He said looking down "To your business Mr. Archer. I'm going out after the storm clears."

Toby's eyes just widened as another figure entered the Pokemon Center. His heart seized in his throat. Another trainer. Now he really was in trouble. How could he possibly take all of them on and this new trainer. Freya! he glanced back at his pokemon, fear in his eyes, Freya, help me!
All of a sudden the newcomer's words reached his ears. Toby frowned a little as the Rocket Grunt released him to combat the wandered. What? You're... you're helping me? his eyes widened, But.. but why.
There was no real time to react now. The rocket grunts had begun to release their pokemon one by one. Rattatas, Koffings, Grimer. Toby backed away as he heard the Raticate from before being bitten to death. It fell bleeding, a pained squeak escaping it's lips before it fell dead. He watched as the masses of pokemon began to close in around him.
Freya, Baldur.... he glanced at his two pokemon, Baldur, use flash to distract them while Freya goes in with Confusion.
He watched as the battle played out around him. Blinded by Baldur's flash of light momentarily, a hyper fang attack from one of the Grunt's rattatas stopped short. In the next second the pokemon had been lifted off its feet and flung head first into the front desk. A trickle of blood ran down the small pokemon's head, but it wasn't out for the count. A glob of sludge launched itself at Freya, nearly enough to completly engulf the small pokemon, but not enough to stop her from launching her own attack at the Grimer, literally beginning to tear it apart. She launched it in a similar arc towards the desk. It hit once with a sickening smack and then bounced off slamming into the long broken down pokemon healing machine. There was a loud crash, sludge everywhere.
Critical hit.
Smog began to fill the center now. Freya seemed to waver a bit on her feet, looking rather ill. The color drained from Toby's face. Freya! Are you alright?
All of a sudden a hand grabbed Toby's shoulder, quickly pulling the two of them out of the center and locking the grunts inside. Baldur and Freya returned to their pokeballs almost immediately as Toby and the mysterious stranger left the pokemon center. The boy stared up at the older man, rushing to catch up.
What... who are you? Toby wondered, staring at the man. Why are you helping me? Why me? What are you doing here? That man could have killed you! he kept staring at the man, half knowing his questions wouldn't be answered. He wasn't a psychic. Or at least, Toby didn't think he was.
At length he tugged on the man's sleeve, holding up Freya's pokeball. I'm worried about her. She got really hurt during that battle, and I think she might be poisoned. he stared up at the man with wide eyes, worry written all over his youthful face.

The Wanderer turned around to look at the boy with his blue eyes.
"Something wrong with your pokemon?" asked the Wanderer. His Poochyena hugged at the Wanderer's legs.
Strangely enough, the boy had more information about the pokemon than the Wanderer himself. At least she had a name.
The Wanderer didn't mind not giving any name, after all, they were going to split anyways soon.

((What town is that part in? XD))
Brian, I won't lose you now...
That was all Bria had in her mind after finding the leftover Pokeballs. There were no Potions to be found, and whatever containers existed were drained of their contents. The Center had, as per usual for the region, no power for healing.
N-no...he collapsed after holding off that Poochyena...Brian, you better not leave me!
Eventually, after leaving the Mart and the town, she came across a fallen Trainer. No Pokeballs on him, those companions were likely gone...however, a single Potion remained. It seemed partly used, maybe being too late for the Trainer's own wounds. She took it and immediately sprayed Brian's ball with it, the effects being applied automatically. It didn't heal anywhere near fully, but anything helped.
Thank Arceus...he'll live... She thought, clutching the ball tightly.

((Here, this might help a lot pokedream.com/games/rubysapph/worldmap.png =] )) Toby just nodded again, still holding up Freya's pokeball up to the man, his face never changing from anxious distress. He glanced at the Poocheynna. The pokemon seemed to be picking up his thoughts better than the man was so he focused on him now. My Ralts is poisoned I think. he relayed the message again, She's in pain, hurting, I really don't want her to die and I need to get help. he glanced at Baldur's pokeball, closing his eyes. We would teleport if we could, but we don't have anywhere to go. I need to find someone who can help her. Toby looked around, eyes wide with fear. They'd just come this way. There were wild pokemon everywhere, just waiting to jump out and attack. Seviper, Zangoose, Linoone, the gambit. We need to be careful. he glanced at the pokemon, There are a lot of wild pokemon around here. They might ambush us if we get too close. He closed his eyes, clutching his pokemon's ball tightly, Please Freya, you'll be alright. Just hang in there.

Giovanni went over the paperwork by candle light. Unfortunately the regions downed power grids meant that he didn't have all the convieneces of his office. Persian was curled up on the rug beside him while Nidorino and Larion sat in opposite corners of the room.
"It seems to be in order for now. Proton is doing well managing the Kanto branch despite being a scientist and not an actual management type. This weather however is really going to slow operations for everybody. Wait, weather? Maybe that could be a starting point!"
Giovanni shuffled around papers in his desk for a map of Hoenn. Doing so awoke Persian who looked up to see what the commotion was. He saw it all fall together as his map unfolded.
"Maybe if we can stop this phenomena then we could gain our position in rebuilding the land and planting our own operations within Hoenn itself!"
He looked on the map for the Weather Institute that he heard existed in this region and was surprised to find that it wasn't too far from Fortree at all. Transfer the data to Blaine or Proton's team to analyze and they could start to get a solution to this weather on their own terms.
He stepped out to find Archer in his office asleep. "Archer? ARCHER!"
"Sir, it's three in the morning. No disrespect sir but I need to sleep."
"I need a hard connection to Johto by morning. Are we close to getting those generators working again?"
"Should be done by morning sir. Why do you need to talk to Ariana?"
"I need her to set up a rom-crack. I will go in the morning when it is safer to collect data at the Weather Institute. Maybe if they had something of value about this weather then we could take a step to control it. Send a salvage team after tommorow and see if you can turn up anything useful will you?"
"On it sir." he lazily replied before slumping back over his desk.

The Wanderer looked in his small sack, he only had one Antidote left, and it wasn't likely he was going to come across another any time soon. He shut his eyes tightly for a moment before reaching into it and giving the antidote too the boy. He then walked up to the Pokemon Center, and took out a lighter. "I wonder how many people they've killed, or how many more they intend to." Began the Wanderer, as he flicked the flint of his lighter, and looked about to light the Pokemon Center on fire. He then closed the lighter and pocketed it. He looked toward the east and started walking in that direction, Kyra following behind.

Toby stared at the man, mystified for a moment. He looked down at the antidote bottle, then at Freya's Pokeball. Gratitude shone in the boy's eyes as he released Freya from her Pokeball and sprayed her with the antidote. Immediately the Ralts went from limp and weary in Toby's arms to her lively, perky old self. Toby's entire face lit up as Freya looked back up and smiled at him. Toby hugged the pokemon close, tears of relief streaming down his face. At length he looked back up at the stranger and his pokemon.
Thank you. He smiled as he gave Kyra a pat on the head. He smiled up at the trainer too, but unfortunately, he didn't appear to be paying much attention to Toby. He instead was staring at the Pokemon Center which had somehow burst into flames. Toby stared, a panicked look in his eyes as he watched the center burn, wild pokemon and people still trapped inside. He closed his eyes.
When he looked up again the man was walking away again, making his way slowly out of the town. Toby's eyes widened. Wait! Toby made a dash towards the man , grabbing the stranger's long coat, There's nothing out that way! he stared at the man, struggling to look into his eyes, You'll have to walk for days to find anything, and Lilicove city is completely covered with water anyway. You won't find anything going that way! he gripped the man's coat tightly. You should come with me. I know where shelter is.
----------------------------
A lone Shroomish sat next to it's trainer's unmoving body, waiting for her to wake up. The sun beat down against the Shroomish's spotted cap, drying out the pokemon's small body. Dust flew upon the wind, stinging his eyes. He longed for the cool safety of his Pokeball, and most of all he longed for his trainer to wake up. He knew that when she did she elf grab him and give him a big hug and everything would be ok. He just needed her to wake up.
From over the sand he could hear a crunching sound. The sound of feet on the sand. The Shroomish looked up, a confused look on his eyes as a young girl approached, clutching a Pokeball in her hands. There was a terrified look in her eyes. The pokemon watched as the girl stooped down next to his trainer and retrieved a potion from her pack. The strange trainer then proceeded to use the potion on her OWN Pokemon. The Shroomish's eyes narrowed at the girl. How dare she use one of Penny's potions for herself? Enraged, the Shroomish puffed itself up, ready to attack and began to launch a vicious bullet seed attack against her. The pokemon was mad, and ready to protect his trainer.

((Sorry if that was ambiguous, but he didn't light the pokemon center on fire. He thought about doing it until he thought about the pokemon inside.))
The Wanderer sighed, "I guess we can rest somewhere for the night." He scratched the back of his head were a dark ponytail came from.
Kyra barked.
"But I need to leave east after that, he's already ahead of us by a week."

Tris shook his head. Addis and Ore were firmly in their Pokeballs, but there was nowhere to run. He summoned Addis and let him go ahead of him for a while as they walked. A Poochyena, covered in blood, snarled at the Mudkip. Tris readied his knife in case something were to happen. A Water Gun was not enough to keep the Poochyena back, and it ferociously attacked Addis. Tris gripped the dog-like Pokemon in one gloved hand, the knife in the other. He eviscerated the small dog-like thing, letting the guts fall out in a steamy pile on the wet ground. He dropped the carcass and continued moving.
As he sheathed his blood-covered knife, he encountered an unmoving trainer and a Shroomish. A girl was being threatened by said Shroomish, so he gripped Ore's Pokeball. Addis followed Tris, limping slightly. The Mudkip used the last of its strength to move in front of its trainer, who scooped him up and used a potion he had to heal him. As soon as Addis was safe in his ball, Tris summoned Ore and approached the Shroomish.

Bria's eyes went wide at the Shroomish. It looked poised to attack at any moment. She started to back away, unsure if it was wild or a Trainer's.
Brian can't protect me...this weakness could kill him instantly! There's no way I can- "Huh!?" She said, noticing a Sentret running up to the Shroomish. "But...that's not in Hoenn..." She noted, looking behind her and seeing someone who looked to have sent the furball out. "Who...are you?"

((Heh, oops sorry. I could have sworn you said he lit up the Pokemon center. Ah well. XD))
Toby frowned a little bit, He? Toby cocked his head to one side, Who's he? Lightning struck again in the distance. Toby shivered a bit, motioning for the man to follow him as he began rushing along the path. They wouldn't be far now. It wasn't quite civilization but Toby did know of an old, long abandoned weather center. He'd spent some time stockpiling food, hiding bits of precious foods, berries and bread and nuts, meat rations, everything, hidden away in between machine parts. He pulled the stranger along, trying to skirt around patches of tall grass. It had been a long time since he'd seen another person around who didn't want him dead. For that, Toby was thankful.
Freya jumped up onto Toby's shoulders, grinning at the man and chirping a thank you in her own strange pokemon language. She was grateful to the man who saved her life.
--------------------------------
The Shroomish gave an agitated hiss, glaring at the second trainer who had approached him and his master. A pokemon burst from the ball at the trainer's hip. He knew what that meant. A battle. Fighting. War. The Shroomish gave an angry squack before shooting a string of seeds at the opposing pokemon. Leech Seed. The attack Penny always had her use first. He would defend his trainer, no matter that cost.

The Wanderer nodded and followed the boy. He looked at Kyra who was following in heel. "Want me to put you back in your pokeball?" The Poochyena nodded and The Wanderer put him back in., before shrinking the ball and putting it in his pocket.
((I heard you leik Mudkip, so I put them up against a Shroomish.))

"Tris Valdale", Tris said quickly as he noticed the Shroomish attacking. "Dodge, and use Fury Swipes!" The Sentret didn't dodge quick enough and one of the seeds attached to his tail. Ore, as much as he wanted to, resisted the urge to chase his tail to try to pick the foreign substance from it. Addis came out of his Pokeball in defiance, he wouldn't let Ore get hurt. He piledrived himself into the Shroomish in a tackle.

Another one. It was no surprise to the young woman when she came upon the scene of a pokemon battle. There were three trainers, and one of them was out. Had he become unconcious due to the battle, or was he out before the battle started?
It wouldn't surprise her if it was the latter, which is why she whispered 'roar' to the pokeball in her hand. Pressing the button, she released a female vulpix that sported a scar over her left eye. The vulpix released a roar from the hilltop that she and her trainer were standing on, hoping to stop the battle so no one was harmed.
"Looks like you came across a pokemon protecting its trainer," the young woman calmly called down to the two conscious trainers. There was no air of evil intent about this woman. She was just trying to stop any unnecessary deaths...
Of course in her mind, a lot of things were unnecessary.

The Shroomish gave another agitated yelp. It didn't appreciate being attacked by such a brash pokemon. It hadn't even been called out! Looking flustered the Shroomish turned, readying a bullet seed attack. The attack was interrupted, however, just before the thoroughly agitated pokemon could launch it's attack a mighty roar interrupted the combatants. The Shroomish gave a little yelp, staring up the hill at the Vulpix ready to descend upon it. It rushed behind it's trainer, looking for refuge from the fight it knew it couldn't win.

Toby stared up at the weather tower, a little smile crossing his face. He looked up at the stranger, as if trying to Hague his approval. Here we are. What do you think.

"Impressive, is this where you've been staying?" asked the wanderer.
((And now for something depressing... ))

"I-I'm-" Bria got out before hearing the roar. She covered her ears and crouched. The sound coming out of nowhere had her cowering in fear, hunched over the ball that carried her weakened starter. "I-it'll be okay, Brian...don't worry..."

Toby nodded, a little grin crossing his face. The boy always seemed to be on the move, looking for food to stockpile away. He chased a stray Rattata out of one of his hiding places and pulled out a small tin of crackers. He popped the top off and held the tin up to the stranger, offering some food to the man, partly as thanks for saving his Ralts and partially just because he was happy to find another trainer that hadn't either joined a team or gone insane. He swayed from side to side, an innocent look on his small youthful face.
-----------------------
The Shroomish glared daggers at Bria, his little eyes full of malice. He gave a little grunt, run.ING up and slamming into the young girl, still looking for a fight.

The Wanderer stared at the boy for a long drawn moment, before sitting down, his Poochyena jumping into his laps. The Wanderer's hat obscured his eyes as he asked:
"How long have you been here?"

Tris bolted towards the girl, and peeled the Shroomish away. "Fuck sakes, the poor girl needs to be left alone!" He then got out his knife and was about ready to do to the Shroomish what he did to the Poochyena earlier that attempted to kill Addis. Ore bolted back to Tris, as well as Addis.

((Also: I've seen this Nuzlocke. Read the entire comic all the way through. This will also make you cry, manly manly tears ))
Toby stared back at the stranger, I've been here for about two months now. It was abandoned after the apocalypse I guess. I've been using it as a base to stockpile food. Most of the more aggressive pokemon stay out. Something about the noises the machines make at night scares them away.
He stared for a good few more seconds at the man, waiting for a response. Nothing changed. HE blinked. Didn't he hear me? then he realized his mistake: he hadn't actually said anything to the man at all. He'd only thought it and the man probably couldn't hear his thoughts. At length he held up two fingers in front of the man, hoping that got his point across well enough. Verbal conversation wasn't exactly his strong suit.
----------------------------
The Shroomish gave a little squeak as the poor pokemon struggled to pry itself from the trainer's grip. He shot a couple of seeds into the trainer's face and jumped from his hands, taking refuge behind his fallen trainer, eyes wide and filled with fear, practically begging the trainer not to kill it.

Tris took a deep breath as he pried the seeds from his face. He knelt down, and looked the Shroomish in the eyes, sheathing his knife.
"Listen. I want you to leave this poor girl alone, okay? She has enough troubles like everyone else does. What did she ever do to you, anyway?"

"There, we've set up the program on your flash drive. Just find a port and let the device work." Ariana said over the vidphone.
"Very well. Are there any other things I should be aware of?" Giovanni said taking the drive from it's port and sliding it into his pocket.
"Just watch yourself sir. Travel in between day and night. Those are the calmest times while the weather patterns shift."
"Very well. I'll contact Blaine's team once I've uploaded the data. Until then we resume contact silence to preserve energy. Giovanni out."
Giovanni flipped the switch and turned off the vidphone. He then got his long brown trench coat and hat on and walked into the slowly dissolving rain.

At first the boy seemed like he was communicating, but words did not come out and his mouth did not move. Eventually, he put up two fingers. Two days, no, he couldn't have gathered all of these supplies in that short of a time. Two weeks, more likely, but the way he knew around this place, maybe two months. He did not know. The Wanderer nodded and looked at the boy's Ralts. "Wonderful pokemon there, though I couldn't help but notice that the only move it used in the fight against Team Rocket was Confusion. Have you considered teaching it any other lethal psychic moves?"

The shroomish glared at Bria again, not daring to attack her again. He knew he was surrounded, but that didn't stop him from resenting her. She'd stolen from her trainer after all. The little pokemon scuttled back around to his fallen trainer's side and began nudging her, as if in an attempt to wake her up.
The trainer's face was covered in dry, cracked skin. Her eyes were open just slightly, a filmy haze seeming to have glazed over her eyes in the days over which she'd stopped moving. It was clear to anyone besides the small pokemon itself that the girl had died of dehydration and extreme heat almost twenty four hours before. She wasn't going to be needing the potion that Bria had stolen from her, and she was far from unconscious.
Still the small pokemon didn't seem to know that, sticking closely to his late trainer's side, waiting for life to fill her limbs once again. The Shroomish went on nudging the girl, trying to get her to wake up. He knew his trainer wouldn't be happy to see a thief trying to steal their potions, and he knew she would have harsh words for the trainer when she did finally come to. The problem was, she didn't seem to be waking up.
-------------
Toby looked down at Freya, a hesitant look on his face. Truth was, he was really quite a novice trainer. Freya had been given to him as a very young Raltz. She was his first pokemon, besides Baldur that was, but Freya was still just about as inexperienced as he was. She hasn't had the chance to learn any new attacks yet. I'd like to teach her new techniques, calm mind, psychic, future sight and the like, but I'm afraid to go out and train. I don't want something to hurt her, she's not strong enough to fight a lot of the pokemon out here.
All that was the answer that Toby had going on in his head, but in the end he just shook his head, a simple no. He took the pokemon in and hugged it to his chest, almost protectively, a signal of his reluctance to let his pokemon get seriously injured in the ring of combat.

Something was wrong. Dreadfully wrong. The young woman skidded down the hill then, getting closer to the little shroomish and its trainer. That's when she noticed it.
"Oh god..."
The poor girl was clearly dead, especially from where the young woman was standing...of course, she had seen enough dead trainers since becoming one herself to recognize a corpse when she got closer to it. She glanced down at her Vulpix then and the two of them exchanged a glance.
The vulpix, not wanting to get closer to the dead body, stepped forward two steps and started speaking to the shroomish, trying to inform it in the kindest way possible that his trainer...was not going to wake up.

Ore's stomach grumbled as he came back out of his Pokeball once more. He skittered to the dead trainer, and started to gnaw on the corpse's eyes. He tore away the eyelid, and seemed to suck the eyeball out. He did this with the other eye, savoring the first bite of food he had for days. The Sentret then used Fury Swipes to open up the dead trainer's skull and feasted on the brain inside.
Addis came out of his Pokeball and joined in too, choosing to raid the mouth of the tongue, and then eating away at the cheeks.
Tris, upon seeing this, had his own stomach rumble. He hadn't eaten either.
