((Because I'm shameless and a direct NoES game wouldn't work out)) Dreams, I have dreams When I'm awake, when I'm asleep And you, you are in my dreams You're underneath my skin, how am I so weak?
- Brandi Carlile - Dreams The night was cold as you climbed into bed. You had a long, hard day again, like any other day in your life it seemed. Being placed in this accursed mental ward- you hated every minute of it, and retched at the idea of how long you were supposed to stay. You closed your heavy eyes, hoping for good rest... Soon after you began to dream, as normal. You dreamed of a sprawling city on a floating island, bustling with life in a surrealistic motion. You talked with others, you flew in the skies, you danced in the seas of slumber. And then you didn't wake up. You're trapped in the Isle of Slumber, in this strange city. Of course, you tried to escape the isle- jumping off buildings, diving off the floating island. Generally trying to do something that'd normally wake yourself. And of course, you'd just return to the city. Soon enough, a man descended from the highest building of all, dressed in the bluest of silk robes as he came before you. A concerned look was about his face, and he stood in a nervous slump. He told you that you were here for a reason. You were a Chosen- someone able to harness the magic of the dreaming into a tangible form to protect the Isle of Slumber. And the Isle was in danger. Everyone has nightmares, do they not? Personifications of their fears and traumas during their sleep; of course they would live in the Isle. However, these nightmares normally dissipate, returning to the formlessness they normally are. This is where our problem lies. Someone, or some thing, has been twisting the Isle's nightmares to exist endlessly. With the advent of constant nightmares, the Isle and people in the dreamscape itself are in constant danger- a particularly nasty nightmare can easily slaughter dozens in their sleep. And that's where you step in. For whatever reason, you seem to be unable to die in a dream. No matter what happens, you manage to live on. Because of this, you are able to fight these creatures, leading to The Sandman's summoning of you. Every night, when you slumber, the Sandman will whisk you back into his kingdom, to deal with this outbreak of Nightmares as you and others investigate the source of the nightmares. And until the situation is resolved, your sleep will be... quite dreadful. TL;DR- A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 – The Game! NAME: Juliet Quirke AGE: 14 APPEARANCE: tektek.org/av/505737CAUSE FOR HOSPITALIZATION: Suicidal tendencies via arsenic poisoning. It is suspected she's somehow still getting it, though nobody knows how. FEARS: Anything that would make her lose her ability to draw or write, darkness, most large animals terrify her, but in a curious way, losing something she is attached to (such as her dog in the real world, or her characters in her dreams, or any friends she might make here), fire, drowning, doctors terrify her as well. BIOGRAPHY AND PERSONALITY: Juliet lives in a very normal, very boring world. She was born to two very normal, very boring parents, and lives in a very normal, very boring Suburbia, with a very normal and not very boring dog and a very boring but not very normal older brother. She went to a very normal, very very boring school, with very normal, very boring students and very normal, very boring teachers. How strange it must have been when in her very normal, very boring life, Juliet found a way to become original, different, and exciting. Her passions - drawing, painting, writing, extensive artworks that would be spread all across her bedroom floor - nurtured her, and set free a wild, untamable spirit that set fire to this very pedestrian world. Her parents, her brother, her teachers and colleagues all noticed very early on Juliet's passions. While some loved it and helped push her towards her goals, gave her tips, and worked alongside her, others grew very weary very quickly of her scribbled-out notes and pages of storywriting and fairytales and brilliant romantic sagas on back pages of tests. Restrictions were set, cracked down on, enforced and heightened throughout years, and by highschool, Juliet's little spirit had been broken. She began to research things, dark things, things nobody (except perhaps her faithful dog Bruno) knew or heard about from her. And that's when things started happening to her, that's when she started to get sick, lose her hair, become cold all the time - and her parents hardly understood until the doctors told them that the real problem was all in her head. The girl had been poisoning herself with arsenic, and none of them knew, exactly, how she had managed to get a hold of it. After recovering, she was shipped off immediately, with her warmest clothes as she still was having issues staying warm, to the mental ward to force her to 'get better...' Place holder until I work this out a bit more...
NAME: Jayne Washburne (Yes. Firefly/Serenity reference. I'm running out of ideas.) AGE: 16 APPEARANCE: Somewhat tall and gangly(he likes wearing bulky clothing to hide his skinniness), with a large scar across the left side of his face. Brown hair, crewcut style, and blue-ish eyes. Deep tanned skin, though in the 'red neck' sorta way(both as tanlines sorta way and as a paler skintone that's just seen too much sun). CAUSE FOR HOSPITALIZATION: Sleep apnea led him to psychotic episodes until he was properly diagnosed. His family sent him to the mental ward to make sure he's properly cared for. FEARS: Not much. While he maintains generic fears, and can easily be startled or spooked, he has little real fears in the waking world, and in dreams his lucidity(and his general inability to die in dream) this is magnified. Both ways. If a nightmare takes the form of his fear, it becomes FEAR ITSELF, and until it somehow takes a form, he will flee/hide from it in a panic. The moment confronted(intentionally or accidentally, by him or someone else) and it's forced to take a form he will lose all fear of it. BIOGRAPHY AND PERSONALITY: Jay never cared for his rural(small town actually, but it did it's best to be 'rural') life or schooling, trying to avoid school in all it's forms. His family fortunately was quite loving and cared deeply for him, and despite being the middle child of four(all brothers, Malcolm older him and Simon and Hoban younger), his parents were both wealthy, and frugal, being very good if insular parents. As such, when his first psychotic episode over took him he was immediate into medical care, and despite being institutionalized, he is visited regularly. To him, the mental ward is actually more relaxing than last years summer camp. CHOSEN FORM: Generic version of his waking appearance(probably somewhat shorter and thicker). As he is a lucid dreamer, he can chance this "at will" but usually doesn't(or doesn't think of it at least). For example, in a 'nightmare' where he's naked in front of a bunch of people he'll likely summon himself some clothing... or he might just forget to be embarrassed at all, since many of his dreams have him naked. He could transform into an animal at will, but without keeping his attention on maintaining the form, he'll revert back to his generic form. In short, he really has never thought about choosing a form and is comfortable enough with his normal appearance that he doesn't feel the need to make it different. This can be a weakness, as nightmares(or dreams in general) will twist his appearance to suit their 'story'.

NAME: Hadley O'Brien AGE: 15 APPEARANCE: tektek.org/av/508922CAUSE FOR HOSPITALIZATION: Elective mutism, Was sent to the mental institution to receive speech therapy, after all other options were exhausted. FEARS: Fire, being unable to breathe, pretty much anything that recalls her parents death. BIOGRAPHY AND PERSONALITY: Hadley began her life fairly normal, with two loving parents who doted on her. However when she was 9 years old a malfunctioning space heater set her parents bedroom ablaze, and they were killed by toxic fumes while Hadley was saved by the fire department just in time. Hadley was sent to live with her grandparents, who were quite wealthy and doted on her and wanted what was best for her... but there was obviously something wrong with her, as she almost never spoke after her parents deaths, because of trauma issues. CHOSEN FORM: tektek.org/av/508935 Can also speak in dream form. WIP

Blame Penny. NAME: Willow Marie Stark AGE: 13 APPEARANCE: tektek.org/av/506291CAUSE FOR HOSPITALIZATION: Nearly successful attempt at suicide, being brought in by her godparents as soon as she was released from a two night stay at the medical hospital. FEARS: Willow has a incredibly deep-rooted fear of guns. She also has the more 'mundane' fears of fires, drowning, and clowns. BIOGRAPHY AND PERSONALITY: Willow is the youngest child of April and Andrew Stark from Salem, where the mental ward isn't terribly far from. Her life was devastated just a few years before when her mother shot her two brothers, killing one and sending the other into a coma- and sending her directly into years of issues, including the maniac-depression and anxiety attacks she struggles with, and into the care of her godparents. The girl's most recent depressive episode lead her trying to commit suicide by slitting her wrists, which ultimately lead to her current stay at the ward. Willow- when on an upswing and/or when medicated, like she is now- is often times a bubbly girl with a strange sense of humor to her. However, at the same time, the girl also frequently having an odd air of blues to her. CHOSEN FORM: tektek.org/av/506380Bio's not very good but bleh, it's late. also shared universe ahoyyy (though this one is also my fault too).

NAME: Violet R. Pearson. AGE: 17. APPEARANCE: www.thetvaddict.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/falling-skies-seychelle-gabriel-3.jpgCAUSE FOR HOSPITALIZATION: Anorexia Nervosa, bringing on a bout of depression. FEARS: Death (kind of obvious), choking, suffocation, cramped spaces and clowns. Seriously. Who the fuck doesn't hate clowns? Fucking rapists in costumes and suits is what they are. BIOGRAPHY AND PERSONALITY: Born in New York, Violet had always been an extrovert at heart, through and through. She enjoyed her life, her circle of friends and more often than not was out at any given point in time. She had always been a theater kid and enjoyed the spotlight. That fell apart rather quickly when she started to develop Anorexia Nervosa after anxiety attacks and paranoia started to affect her life. She was incredibly afraid of dying, namely through choking. She lived off of blended potatoes, bananas, protein supplements and a liquid diet. The smart, beautiful young girl Violet is became wrapped in a shell of depression. She genuinely wants help, practically begging her parents to leave her in state care to overcome her fear. CHOSEN FORM: Exactly how she was before her Anorexia Nervosa hit. Full faced, beautiful skin, luscious hair and, most importantly, happy. The exact same as she was, as she often reminisces by going through her old photos on whatever medium she can, attempting to gain some sort of mental fortitude and strength from it to beat her Anorexia Nervosa and return home.
