Welcome to St. Charles Academy.
"Listen up, bastards, because I'm going to get this show on the road!"
"Listen up, bastards, because I'm going to get this show on the road!"
Those were the first words you heard chiming across the spacious auditorium, coming from seemingly nowhere in particular. That is, until a small teddy bear appeared on top of the podium, moving in a cartoonish fashion. This isn't exactly what you'd expect from a typical education, and it only goes downhill from there...
I'd have thought you bastards would be able to figure out the rules to this roleplay by yourselves, but luckily, being the magnificent and amazing headmaster that I am, I'll be explaining them just this once (and yes, I know you can read this repeatedly - don't question my logic, smartass!)
So, if you're looking at this topic and are unfamiliar with Japanese media, let's give ya a quick runthrough. Dangan Ronpa is a murder-mystery RPG game released by SpikeChunsoft. There are currently two games in the series (Dangan Ronpa, and Super Dangan Ronpa 2), with two more on the way (Dangan Ronpa: Ultimate Despair Girl - a first-person shooter, and Dangan Ronpa 3). It plays similar to Phoenix Wright - you have to point out contradictions in testimonies, etc, etc. There's also a social function that lets you gain more skills in battle, but we all know where our attention lies, eh? Upupupu. Oh, and the game has been released in American markets for the Playstation Vita as Dangan Ronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc.
Really, you don't need much knowledge of the series (or should I say, bear-ly any knowledge of the series) for this RP, but as a general briefing...my name is Monokuma, and I'll be your headmaster in this school of Despair! You've all been sent here because you're the absolute best at something. I don't know what, nor do I particularly care what, but that's why you're here...originally. Kehe, just like me to mess things up!
Your new purpose is...you're in my Mutual-Killing Game! Abandon all hope, ye who partake! As in, really, abandon all hope and start em-bear-acing desbear. Murder is totally encouraged, and there're weapons all over the school if ya look. So, anyway, every-so-often, we'll have a little announcement. Besides getting out, I'll be including other 'motives'. Sweetening the pot so much that you simply can't take it anymore and kill off whoever you like the least!
After we find a body, I'll put out an announcement, along with a death report. (Presumably, we'll have people OOC-ly volunteering to be the murderer, and we'll work out a victim ++ a crime scene for the rest of the RPers to investigate.) After all that's said and done, we'll have a class trial! The rules of that are as follows:
1. You are to discuss the ongoing case
2. At the end of the trial, you must vote on a culprit and the vote must be unanimous
3. If you get the culprit, they'll be punished - but if you vote wrongly, everyone but the culprit will get punished
4. Monokuma is judge, jury, and executioner
Pretty simple, eh? Wrote 'em myself.
Anywho, I guess I'll have to make a few other events too, to keep you bastards entertained...jeez, the things I do for you children! That's why you should always be grateful to teachers like me, who care enough to not leave you high and dry so far as entertainment goes.
As far as character concepts go, go wild. Take inspiration from the canon characters, sure, but don't be afraid to break into something entirely different and insane. The more insane, the better, I always say! But, uh, as a general note, most characters in Dangan Ronpa are based on stereotypes for their professions (making the character development that much more interesting), so make sure your character can have a few dirty little secrets to unfold.
This roleplay will contain blood, gore, etc, etc, so if you're squeamish, I'd suggest not taking part. But hey, your funeral if ya do (quite literally)!
If there's anything else you need to ask your handsome, charming, suave, amazing, and best-ever-you-love-me headmaster, do be afraid to ask. But ask anyway.
Oh, right. Here's the paperwork...or...bio sheet (is that what they're calling it nowadays)?
