The Outrunner Chronicles (working title?)

Scientists have often debated one major question Earthlings have always had: are we alone in the universe? None of them ever asked ‘Even if the answer’s right in front of us, how would we know?’
On Earth, people disappear at strange rates – sometimes alone, and sometimes in groups. Sometimes they’re found, sometimes they’re killed, and other times there’s simply no trace of them. These things have occurred for as long as anyone can remember. Those who guess the truth are written off as conspirators and crazy people.
The year is 2052, on Earth, that is. People are about as oblivious as ever to the oppressive slave trade that has been stealing people right out from under the noses of officials and civilians alike. It’s a pity really, since they could probably fight back easily enough. But as they remain ignorant of what’s going on around them in the universe, they remain a high staple of the intergalactic slave trade.
One of the most prominent people of this trade is in fact a human himself – Callum Everett, who had risen to the top after being taken away from Earth as a small child, freed to turn against his own people. Callum has been ‘commissioning’ people from throughout the galaxy (although he usually requests human children like he himself was) for nearly thirty years, experimenting on them to give them powers and forget who they are and even torturing them, all the while trying to convince them through brainwashing that he’s the good guy and their ‘father.’ Many have fallen under his spell, but not all – and have finally decided to break free, stealing a ship called the Outrunner to evade him and the illegal practice they were under.
The former slaves of Callum have decided to put their efforts towards freeing others in the same situation they were in, all the while exploring the galaxy, reconnecting with themselves and old family, and running away from slavers and Quegars hunting them down for stealing a ship.
If you have any ideas for more races, suggest them to me in a PM.

NAME: Callum James Everett
AGE: Mid forties – early fifties.
RACE: Human
APPEARANCE: auliarosadi.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/tumblr_luojak3j3o1r4pvz5o1_500.jpg
POWERS/MODIFICATIONS: He’s infused himself with a few, yes – mostly a few strength-enhancing modifications beneath the skin.
SKILLS: Incredibly advanced understanding of science and technology, both alien and human; polyglotism/an understanding of various languages
PERSONALITY: Callum is an interesting sort of person – he’s not that different from any other person, really. It’s just that once you get to know him you start… noticing things. He’s a very childish person and is extremely lonely – he interacts with almost no one but his slaves, and he apparently considers them family, attempting to form close bonds and relationships with each of the more domestic ones. He doesn’t seem to realize the consequences of his actions at times, however, and feels genuinely betrayed when they’ve escaped.
MOTIVATION: As a whole, it’s to have a happy, perfect family. Right now though it’s to get them back.

{Races}
-Quegars: ‘Frog people’ – massive amphibian beings that hunch over, lots of brute strength. Are used almost exclusively as bounty hunters. Not playable.
-Ideli: Beautiful, Technicolor people, standing at least a foot taller than most humans and with strange appendages – which means they could have massive claws, prehensile hair, or even be the equivalent of mermaids. They have several ‘subsets’ – Dynvers (insect-based), Quahonti (aquatic-based), and Dannars (mammalian).
-Deltians: Reptilians – scaly creatures that fare best in places of high heat and humidity. They love the water. Rather than most reptilian-like alien races, Deltians are very friendly and are probably the clumsiest (and kindest) race.
-Polsam: Umberella, made of two different races – insect (Ratan) and fish (Phin)-like beings that work as a hivemind. Work well as equivalents to policemen, firefighters, and paparazzi. Succeed well in groups. Probably not a playable race.
-Miunti: The smallest race, based on rodents and other skittish animals such as deer. These people grow only to the size of children, and are similar to the Dannars race from the Ideli in the fact that they are mostly humanoid with animal-like features. What sets the Miunti apart are that their features blend both human and animal together, rather than being human with animal tacked on. For example, a Miunti based on a rabbit could have elongated facial features, paws, a tail, and patches of fur, as well as mannerisms associated with that of rabbits.
-Khiz’ra: Crustaceans, primarily found in the engineering pathways. They can fix ships and dismantle them easily, and come in all shapes, colors and sizes. Probably not a playable race.
-Quaiss: Aquatic and avian beings able to float through both water and air. They are fish, with long, wispy appendages, silky skin and fins – though some are much more like giant jellyfish. These people are found often in performing arts, though they’re rare to find – most of the time, the Quaiss stay on their own and are very shy.
-Dias: Avian beings, resembling birds, angels, and harpies. Much like the Miunti, they blend both elements of human and bird into one. They have many specialized calls, and are very colorful. However, they are relatively loudmouthed when with other people, and are prone to fighting.
Asiro: ‘Born from the crushing pressures of the black hole-centered wasteland at the far edge of known space, no one exactly knows how Shadows actually came to be: some speculate they are simply a newfound species that are surfacing sporadically throughout the galaxy. Others think they are a spacial anomaly that have gained sentience through unknown means. However, the most popular rumor is that they are the souls of the destroyed invaders, dismantled by the power of the weapon used by the Reliquiae upon them. To most, the appear simply as floating spheres of energy, a pocketed absence of light in a room. However, using something speculated as telepathic powers, they have constructed themselves 'bodies', suit of armor-looking shells made from the floating remnants and space junk near their home. Due to a strict code of honor, many Shadows live in seclusion - those who commit crimes commit themselves to serving their given sentences, even though they hold the power to simply escape on their own.’ ((Thanks to Adlai for using his race and description from a previous RP)) These are rarely ever seen, and as far as playable races are, they are not.

{Planets}
-Zias: A dangerous, seedy urban planet with thriving businesses. However, it’s a no-fly zone, so ships have to stop outside of the planet before coming in – for their own safety. This is also an artificial planet, with the inside being a prison, and has artificial lighting rather than a sun.
-Delango: A desert planet. Not much goes on here – at least as far as anyone knows. It’s quiet, and with no real patrols in its area, it’s the perfect place for hiding out and to commit grander crimes. It’s a touch-down base for many slaver ships, as well.
-Liath: An aquatic planet, with 86% of its surfaced covered in water. This is the homeland for the Quaiss, Ideli and Khiz’ra. It’s a very peaceful and serene planet, although some other planets and races use it as a dumping ground. The races that inhabit it, however, have made efforts to turn the wastelands of trash into treasure, and have constructed beautiful sanctuaries out of refuse.
-Yerem: The most earth-like planet, covered in plant life and hospitable areas for members of all races. The Miunti and Dias make their homes here as well.
-Echelm: A gas giant, few people come here, though the Asiro are suspected to have originated here.
-Quaoh: Homeplanet of the Deltians, the Quegar, and the Polsam. It’s massive and covered in swamp and low-hanging clouds.
