Ship wars are awesome to watch though. All the flailing and the "No JKR got it wrong!" and shit is hilarious.
I don't know why anyone bothers though. Everyone knows the only pairing that matters is Hogwarts/Giant Squid.
I heard about that. How do you have sex with a building anyway?
The Giant Squid just puts its tentacles through the doorways.

I hate Draco/Hermonie. Sure, Ron does tease her and they do have their fights (which they then make up by the end of the books), but Draco HATES her. He is completely RACIST to her and treats her inferior just because she doesn't have magic parents. It's sorta like pairing a black woman to someone who is racist, why would you do that? He's only going to treat her like crap Draco/Luna for the win. I c wut u did thar
Anyways, I actually prefer canon. I honestly don't know why, but I like all of the canon ships.
Although I think Neville/Luna would be adorable. And, of course, Quirrelmort.

I dunno, Quirrelmort only really works in AVPM. Cuz canon voldemort is incapable of love and all that.

I prefer canon, but I have to admit, some of the fanon pairings are hilarious. Snape/Hermione? Really?

I'll have to stick with canon; as much as I love seeing some of the dumber fans scream and moan about the series, sometimes it gets really off-putting. Also, the "death of the author" mentality that some of the fans developed over the revelation that Dumbledore was gay is something that bothers me quite a bit.

I've seen people with a "death of the author" mentality for things that are explicitly stated in the books. Death of the author doesn't work that way. D:

What's "death of the author?" From TV Tropes: I prefer canon. Most of the canon pairings in Harry Potter make total sense, I think the only fanon pairing I like is Neville/Luna, and that's because it makes total sense and it should be canon, dammit!!!

I don't mind the canon pairings...apart from Ron/Hermione, I really hate it. I'm sorry to fans of the pairing, but the arguing seemed..forced. To me, it just seemed like "Lol! We argue a lot, that means we'll have lots of sexy time and kiddy-rens!" But, I ship Harry/Hermione, so I'm biased.
I wouldn't mind Harry/Ginny, if they had proper devolpment, same with Ron/Hermione, but I'd prefer if they ended up with new characters.

I've never been a huge shipper of any of the relationships. I thought Harry and Ginny were cute, but I could never get on board with Ron and Hermione. They might have argued, but that seemed to be the only real tension between them. Aside from being physically attracted to each other I didn't see what they had in common - though they're both stubborn, they're different KINDS of stubborn. I can't lie, I hated the ending of the series. I thought it was too fairy tale perfect. I know it's meant to be a kids' series, so I understand it. But it was all too Mary Sue for me. All the good guys end up in love and happy and Draco Malfoy ends up looking like a miserable old man. And I'm sorry, but Albus Severus Potter is almost as bad as Renesmee Carlie Cullen.

How does Draco look like a miserable old man. All that's stated in the epilogue about him is this:
Seems like Draco got a ending just as happy as everyone else.
And the difference between Renesmee and Albus Severus is that Twilight takes place in a world that is basically ours, with names that are pretty much par for the course. Harry Potter takes place in a world where the most popular wizard of their age is named Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore. I doubt Albus Severus would cause much of a stir at all.

Well, I like fairytale endings myself, so I didn't mind. But yeah Albus Severus is pretty bad... still, it makes sense in my mind, because it's tradition in some cultures to name kids after dead relatives and stuff. Personally, I think fanon is fun, but I like trying to make it fit with canon. Like, "Ginny and Hermione were dating secretly until the Yule Ball, when Ginny got cold feet and went out with Michael Corner." Strictly speaking, there's no evidence against it in the books. The one ship I think should be canon, though, is Neville/Luna. Because it's the most adorable thing ever and they're just perfect for each other.

I like fanon more. There is more room for possiblity that way. Like Harry/Luna. XD Or Dean/Luna or Draco/Luna

Also, I read that fanfiction and...
Giant Squid/Hogwarts FTW!

I think you missed my main point. Yes, I was wrong about Draco looking like a miserable old man. I'll admit that. But Albus Severus is a stupid name. Say it out loud. It sounds stupid together. My main point was that, given the lack of development between Ron and Hermione, they didn't exactly seem like a great fit. They were good friends, but I didn't really see the tension between them, unless it was anger. But hey, some relationships are like that. *shrug* It just reminded me of some fanfic I wrote about a different series when I was twelve. Where all the main characters married the people they were "supposed" to marry and they all had adorable babies and everything was cute and fluffy. While I'm happy that everyone was happy in the end, it just seemed a little...incestuous. Sure, I'd love it if my best friend married my husband's cousin, or something like that, but that's not how things typically happen.

I understand WHY Harry and Ginny named their youngest son Albus Severus...but the names. OH DEAR GOD THE NAMES! And also I agree with enjoying fitting fanon into canon. Because really, with a twenty year jump, who KNOWS what actually happened in between? Aside from JKR...and it's just another reason I am EAGERLY anticipating her HP Encyclopedia

I still like Ron/Hermione, and...shoot me Harry/Ginny has grown on me too. I guess because J.k Rowling meant for them to be together and she admitted she can't write romance, but she probably believed they deserved a happily ever after. I think Ron/Hermione fit perfectly, even if she didn't write it as well as it could have been written because I think Ron is what Hermione needs to lighten up and not be so boring, and I think Hermione is what Ron needs to not be so immature. I think Harry/Ginny fit okay too, even if they weren't developed too well.
