"Who was Lincoln?" - from a student I tutored
Actually, I could probably make a whole thread by itself just for stupid stuff students I tutored said.

Yeah...I seriously need to make a post just about the stupid things people in history classes have said. It would wind up being a really long post though.

"The burden of proof is on the positive claim."
After being reminded a few times of this little gem, I think I'll retract my previous claim that the statement quoted from Onision is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Some guy at anime club told me that if he had a Death Note, he would kill EVERY single celebrity to keep people from becoming leeches.
When I told them that people like Sean Connary and Danial Craig are too awesome to die, he said he would kill them to "to set an example".
. . . O.O

^What? I mean really, what?
@topic: Woman hits a guy in the face. The guy hits her back. The police are called and he gets arrested even though there are five people who witnessed what happened and not one person stood up for him.

The police are called and he gets arrested even though there are five people who witnessed what happened and not one person stood up for him. Unfortunately, that's reality. Doesn't matter who struck first. Society dictates that the guy in such situations is the one to be arrested.

You can't prove a negative, that's not how logic works. If you told me, for instance, that you have a zebra in your front room, the burden of proof lies with you - you have to prove you have a zebra, rather than me having to prove you do not have a zebra. This analogy was only used because the world needs more zebras.

Er... he's right, though. You can't prove a negative, that's not how logic works. If you told me, for instance, that you have a zebra in your front room, the burden of proof lies with you - you have to prove you have a zebra, rather than me having to prove you do not have a zebra. This analogy was only used because the world needs more zebras. I agree that the world needs more zebras, but no. The burden of proof falls on any claim made. However, there is a difference between disbelieving a positive claim due to a perceived lack of proof and making a negative claim on the subject. And, yes, you can prove a negative. I could, for example, prove that there are no zebras in my apartment if I were to record a video in which I walk through my apartment and exhibit the lack of zebras. On the other hand, you could just as easily doubt the video by claiming that there was an edit during which the zebra was moved from one room to another. A lack of proof doesn't prove a claim to be wrong, mind, it simply proves that the claim doesn't have an firm basis which can be discussed and thus should not be made within a discussion. You could claim that there isn't, say, a 1.5 liter bottle of soy sauce in my apartment. I haven't provided proof that there is, and cannot do so until I take a picture (which you could then claim was photoshopped). That I haven't provided proof doesn't prove that such a bottle isn't in my apartment. The nature of burden of proof is strictly to prevent people from making claims they can't prove. A person can voice a stance based on whatever evidence they have available, but they cannot claim it to be true until they can prove it.

"And while you are boo-hooing your lot, why do Jews hate Nazi's so much. Oh, the poor 80% majority - so maligned and put-upon! Source(s): Every knee that bows to Jesus bears the weight of the Six Million murders." From this question. The majority of the atheist answers are pretty hate filled, stupid and ignore reality, but this fucking takes the cake. Idk why I even bother with Yahoo answers anymore.

Just a warning: this might be triggery for some of you. I didn't have a problem with it, but it might be a problem for others. It [I[will[/I] piss you off though, unless you've just gotten accustomed to this sort of... Thing. I found something that makes me take back what my last post was about being the stupidest thing I've ever seen someone say. I watched an episode of Law and Order: SVU, and it made me wonder, "Can pedophiles be cured? Or are they like sociopaths?" So, I Wikipedia'd pedophile, and I ended up doing a Wiki Walk, and eventually wound up at the article for "Nubile", which was linked to lolicon. So I Googled both "Loli is disgusting" and "Shota is disgusting" (because I like to see other people express their hatred of things I also despise). (Yes I know, I have way too much free time on my hands.) Then something from Journalfen's Fandom Wank caught my eye: (Emphasis mine) My approximate reaction: WHAT THE IN THE MOTHER OF FUCK'S NAME?! WHAT THE FUCK, WHAT IS THIS?! Okay first of all, I want to say that s/he (normally I would assume it's a he, but considering most yaoi fans are girls...) actually has a point in that victims falling for their rapists is a trope that needs to die, and at least about 80% of yaoi needs to be killed with fire for that very reason. And while writing out pedophile/rape stories can help one get over their own problems that shit needs to stay very, very PRIVATE. And note that this was a reply to someone stating the fact that pedophiles really do use this to condition children into becoming more susceptible to the abuse. I also like how s/he threw in the Two Wrongs Make a Right fallacy. Don't I just LOVE seeing that used. Oh, and also, IT'S PORNOGRAPHIC ARTWORK ABOUT CHILDREN! To quote South Park: Oh and it gets even better worse. I stopped perusing the comments because I was gonna eat my own fingers if I had to read any more of it (though there was at least at ton of normal people, thank god), but before I did, I saw this, which makes the above seem almost smart and reasonable in comparison (almost, mind you). (Again, emphasis mine) {Spoilerd for caps rape and random strings of characters}YOU PATHETIC SICK FUCK! YOU JUST OUTRIGHT ADMITTED TO BE A GODDAMNED PEDOPHILE AND THEN YOU ACTUALLY HAVE THE NERVE TO MOAN AND PISS AND WHINE ABOUT PEOPLE CALLING YOU OUT ON YOUR SICK-FUCKERY?! AJPITJA9RUT09UHRJ98*)(&)&NJGAPIJPGTIARIIOIP8800JJN That is without a doubt the stupidest thing, as well as one of the most incriminating things, I have ever heard anyone say. - You’re actually calling this a kink? Please, don’t insult the BDSM subculture. Ever heard the words “Safe, Sane, and Consensual”? An example of kink is pretending to do something bad and then have your SO spank you. What you’re referring to is a 1) a crime, 2) a mental disorder, 3) a fucking blight on the face of the Earth, and 4) HAVING SEX WITH CHILDREN.
- I love how you just unwittingly admitted to be a pedophile while somehow still denying that you’re a pedophile. Makes it so much easier to insult you and make fun of you. You said that you “share the fap subjects of pedophile”. First of all, would it have killed you to make that word plural? And just what exactly is that fap subject? Oh yeah, CHILDREN! You do terrible things while thinking of children. What kind of “person” who isn’t a goddamned pedophile would do that? Oh, also, what further cements this sick fuck as a pedophile is the “Gay people don’t choose to like men, and neither do pedophiles choose to like children, so therefore it’s okay for me to fap to little kids” thing. That is the exact. Same. Argument. Pedophiles use to justify their evil . The exact same argument.
- The other thing that’s wrong with that attempt at an argument is that it compares LGBT people to pedophiles. LGBT people are not, in our entirety, or even in a majority, a dangerous group (I would know, I am one of the “B” people in that abbreviation), which doesn't really need stating. We're no more or less dangerous than straight and cis people. Pedophiles on the other hand are, by definition, evil, unless they fight off their urges, and still dangerous even if they do. Ironically, even though male pedophiles who like boys probably think they’re a friend to the gay community, this nonsense they spew is actually a hindrance to the LGBT movement, because it helps promote the idea that all gays are child-molesters waiting to happen.
- Finally, I like how he (it’s definitely a guy. He sounds like one and he specifically said “fap”) brings up comparisons to the Hitler Ate Sugar argument, even though he just outright admitted to being a pedophile.
Okay I’m done ranting about this. Wow, that took much, much longer than I thought it would. Is there a moral in this? 1) The internet is a terrible place. Oh, wait, I already knew that. 2) Be careful whenever I Google search phrases like that. I’ll probably stumble along the opposite viewpoint I was looking for.

"I'm too old to change." -My cousin's boyfriend
^You're never too old to change, idiot. However, in order for change to happen, you must WANT it first.
Incidentally, they're no longer together BECAUSE of this very issue.
