From Buffy. She'd be a valuable asset to the gang, with her giant wolf-ness and such.

Oh yeah, and if they could accept Oz, the crazy kind of werewolf, they definitely would embrace Leah into their group.

Can Tyler from The Vampire Diaries come too? He, like Leah, hates being a werewolf so they could sympathize with each other. I would even say that it could turn into something more but I'm a Tyler/Caroline shipper.

^WATCH IT!!!! It gets a really bad rap from people who have never seen it and think it's "Twilight: The TV Series." But it's not. Elena, the heroine, kicks Bella's butt. She's strong and independent and at times she has saved the vampires. The mythology is intricate. The villainess who I won't reveal due to spoilers makes Victoria look like a kindergarten bully. The vampires are dangerous and need very rare magic rings to walk in the sun. They are tempted by human blood and both have succumbed to it. It's truly and incredible show. It's fast paced as well and the average episode has as many twists and turns and jaw dropping WTF moments as most shows' season finales.
Warning: the first few episodes are a bit weak, but once you are maybe three or four in you will be hooked.

^Sounds good, also kind of Buffy-ish. I'll check it out if I get the time and the means. Well, I'll add it to the list anyway. I also need to watch the Big Bang Theory and finish season 1 of Doctor Who, and I'm still in the middle of season six of Buffy.

Okay, necro-ing a dead thread, I know, but I'm curious: Anyone know how the movie's portrayed Leah?

I had a hard time paying attention to all of it, but basically the same as the books. Jacob and Seth are basically like "GOSH Leah get out you're so annoying" but she gets her line that goes something like: "I'm used to not being wanted."
Poor Leah needs more love.

Poor Leah. She was wasted on a writer like Meyer. I was half hoping we'd actually get to see her tell off Bella this time.

^You need to remember, Meyer has a say in these things. She couldn't possibly allow Leah to tell off her "pwecious dewicate fwower". It would go against the constitution of Mary-Sue Badfic Land! That fanfic is amazingness. I agree to the motion of Leah joining the Scoobies. limelightqueen- ....You mean there are villains who DON'T make Victoria look like a kingdergarten bully? Oh wait, the Volturi. I can't remember if I posted this but apparently one of the wolves DOES like Leah. One of the two twelve year olds, Collin, thinks of her as the most beautiful girl in the world. Now before we get any "aww"s this has been spoiled. He is loyal to Sam. *sighs* There really is no accounting for the tastes of some. About Jacob and Seth ...Well at least Seth likes Leah enough to not want her dead? When Jacob thought about killing her Seth said "I would mind." ...Nope, not good enough.

^Keep in mind that Seth was the one who told Leah that she "ruins everything" because she was worried about him and tried to join him and Jacob to make sure he was safe.
No, I do not like Seth. I don't like Jacob. Hell, the way I see it, all of the guys are jackasses and I'm hard pressed to find any one of them that may actually be a halfway decent person. Jacob pretty much stated that the reason for bashing on Leah was that the guys couldn't run around naked anymore. Plus her "female thoughts" made them "uncomfortable". Seth had no trouble turning on his own sister to play suckup and pretend to be one of the "big boys". And Sam.......may he and Emily have their faces eaten by beetles.

^ You could almost pass off Seth's comment as "well, he's a sibling, and that's actually a typical thing for one sibling to say to another in that basic circumstance" except that siblings are usually loyal to each other against the "outside world." That should mean that Seth should either be standing up for Leah, or at the very least not adding to the abuse. So yeah, Seth fails as a brother.

^I would add that Seth never stops even for a moment to think that Leah may still feel bad about her transformation. We all know that their dad had the heart attack when she transformed and while we all know this isn't Leah's fault, she still may have some feelings of guilt about it.
Also, not helping that having the man she was going to marry leave her due to the imprint and having to hear his thoughts about Emily could be very painful.

For a close pack of werewolves that can supposedly share thoughts with each other constantly, they all seem remarkably dense when it comes to Leah. Sure they understand Jacob's pain, but they all treat Leah like she's this alien creature, some separate entity, and none try to understand her own feelings and thoughts...even though they are supposedly fucking telepathic within the pack.

As far as the books are concerned, Leah is an alien creature- a strong female character who can hold her own against the guys.

I could almost understand Seth resenting Leah or blaming her for her dad's death a bit. But the telepathic bond thing shoots all chances of that one down.

What gets me is that Seth is actually seen as one of the decent characters. He's not. I might have considered him as such because his hero worship is almost cute. Except that he trashes his own sister for worrying about his sorry ass and can't manage more than an "I'd mind" when someone considered ending her LIFE.

KeyoftheTwilight: Ah no prob.
It's either a massive lack of empathy or they just simply don't care, and I'm inclined more for the second one. Sadly.
@chaotic: Agreed.
And I believe that he's seen as one of the decent characters because he's nice to the Cullens, who in the eyes of the fans, can do no wrong.
Unfortunately, I don't think anybody (of the fans) realizes that not minding or at least being bothered that people are joking about his own sister's life is and makes him (to me) a horrible person. It's like the saying: Blood's heavier than water; which speaks of family and that strangers or outsiders shouldn't matter more than it.
Sadly, with this book, it's nothing more than a burden.

Here's the freaky thing, though. Leah and Seth are the only source of true biological sibling interaction we get in this series. Who else in the books are siblings? The Cullens are portrayed as perfect siblings (they're portrayed as perfect in everything, though), but do they really interact? No, and they're not blood related. The only other example we get are the girls in the Black family, but we don't actually see Jacob interacting much with either of them.

Smeyer definitely has odd relationships with her siblings. Did you know many of the Quiletes were named after her siblings? Including Jacob?

^There's something wrong with all the characters she named after her siblings.
Even ignoring the whole "getting with the guy her cousin/best friend loves", Emily is permanently scarred.
Jacob is the hypotenuse of a love triangle, turns into a jerkass, assaults the girl he likes, and eventually ends up with her daughter. And, oh yeah, no big deal or anything, but he's a protector of people against vampires who LETS THE PEOPLE GET EATEN BY THE VAMPIRES.
Seth is a brown noser only really notable for his idolization of Jacob and the Cullens and who, even if he and Leah aren't getting along, still shows little concern over the thought of the guys KILLING a person or that she put herself in danger and opened herself to pain just because she was worried about him.
Heidi works for the Volturi as the person who regularly leads "tour groups" to the vampire hideout to be eaten, and the only thing of note about her is her power to make herself super pretty, which apparently all the vampires automatically have ANYWAY.
And Paul was noted as the biggest jerkass of the group. Until, of course, he imprinted.
I would be offended if any of them had specifically been named after me. But it makes me wonder what all Meyer was basing them on or if she had just made up these messed up characters and decided to give them her siblings' names as a "shoutout" like some amateur authors do. Personally, I hope it's the latter.

She might see Seth's as a good one? Maybe? And she did claim Jacob was a favorite character of hers.
Still, it's definitely weird.

One of these days, I'm gonna write this huge character study fic on Leah. One of these days. No, really, I am!
Also, I know everyone here hates Emily, but... does anyone else feel a little sorry for her? I mean, the way I imagine it, she might not even really love Sam, but she's afraid for her own life should she leave him.
