Because of Meschugael's wings her ears had not bled but the sound could still be heard. Even so, Ars instinctively pulled Sensor Thirty-one close to her as though trying to shield her from the sound with her own body. At hearing it talk in a comprehensible language though, she blinked, then blinked again as she heard it call out to the nephilim. "Friend of yours?"

Sai simply nodded to Ars. If she was aware of anything strange about the woman it certainly wasn't shown.
She'd heard the footsteps and at first she grew tense, but upon actually seeing the creature that appeared, her tension eased. This was one she knew. One she'd known since she'd taken the name of Sai millions of years before.
Of course she couldn't understand the eldritch tongue, but the one vocal word it said next was definite confirmation.
"Vague," she said in response. It was a strange thing, her reaction to a large creature such as this in comparison to how she'd reacted to the people around her now.
She glanced at Ars when she asked her question.
"Indeed," she said with a nod.

The creature said nothing more, looking at the others before, blending into the shadows before appearing behind Sai. Vague became her shadow.
HE sent me. HE wants us to observe this...phenomenon. HE is interested in the one who brought us here. Do not speak of HIM. As HE wants this to be a background job.

Sai said nothing aloud as Vague did so and spoke to her telepathically. It was a form of communication that she was use to by now.
So Vague had been sent here. She had no problem not speaking of any of this.
Very well, then, she responded back in the same fashion. Understood.

Phryx collapsed, his ears bleeding profusely, one giant talon coming up to cup the circumference of his head.
Jovial, for lack of a better words, was taking it very well. He had simply just stood his ground, staring at the monster. Whether he ignored the screech through sheer fear, or was just a little braver than he let on, he watched the monster scream and go into Sai's shadow.
Phryx, at this point, was recovering, and looking at Jovial and Sai, since Jovial seemed to have a very intent stare.
"How come that thing could speak your name, Sai?" Jovial questioned, watching as Phryx took a stand, moving blood from his ears.

Sai glanced over at Jovial, noticing the intent stare and knowing very well she was being watched by a few of them.
"I'm very well-acquainted with him," she said simply, though not going into detail.
Quite honestly, despite Vague's eldritch-like appearance, it was a bit of a comfort to have someone she recognized around. It made the situation a little less uncomfortable and much less tense.
It was probably something the other four wouldn't quite understand; The woman was so tense around Phryx and somewhat so with the other woman and Jovial, but the creature that had appeared and was in her shadow now? Not so much.

"Well do you want to tell me what the fuck that was about!?" Phryx yelled, probably unintentionally, since it was evident he had taken quite the bitch pounding in the ear.
Jovial turned around, pressed a finger to his own lips and set Phryx down for a seat as the older man attempted to fiddle with his ears.
"Can you explain, please?" Jovial asked, "I know you don't trust us, but if we're going to make this, we're going to have to get along. Secrets like why did the big scary monster know you are those kind of secrets."

There was a slight flinch at the sudden volume of Phryx's words and it was more out of habit and abrupt surprise than anything else.
"Not at all, actually," she answered, watching Jovial set him down. She glanced at the boy when he asked in a much more calm manner.
"How I know him is none of your concern," she said and was quiet a moment. Of course, she realized that probably wouldn't be enough.
"He is a companion that I've known for quite a long time," she said, hoping that would satisfy their curiosity. Though it wasn't the whole truth, it certainly wasn't a lie. But she wasn't going to tell them any more than that. "That's really all there is on the matter."
This was probably the most she had said all day besides one-liners and rambling.

"See?" Jovial said, moving to Phryx to check on his ear for a second before turning back, "The more open we are about things, the better it is. I thank you. Really, that was very brave."
He sighed, kiss assery over, and turned to look into Phryx's ear. No damage, but it must of hurt like a motherfucker.

Once more there was silence as she listened to what he said.
"Hardly what I'd consider bravery..." She murmured to herself before glancing off.
Of course, she wasn't going to be much more open than that. The question of her relation to Vague hadn't been as deep or private as anything else that could have been asked and she was a bit relieved that that was the only thing that had been questioned. She wasn't willing to go beyond that. She didn't want to reveal anything more about herself than that.
Because that was a road that she wasn't sure she'd be able to take.

"Yeah, well I saw the look of that fucking thing and just knowing it looks scary as shit." Jovial commented, sighing, putting a tearing off his shirt onto Phryx's ear.

"Appearances can be deceiving," was all she said in response. She said nothing more but took a few steps away from the campsite, thinking perhaps that she could also take a look around like Ars had.

"Meh," Jovial shrugged, and began to tie off the area around Phryx's head, sighing.

"B-but what was it?" asked Sensor Thirty-one shakily. Then, thinking back, "And where did it come from? If we can find the spot where these things keep appearing, maybe we can get out of this place!"

Once she was certain the little girl was alright, Ars excused herself from the group and headed over to one of the tents, pointedly ignoring a certain angel's voice as she lay down. The last thoughts running through her mind was that they'd have to appoint a guard shift, now that they knew that while so far there weren't local threats, foreign ones could get in with ease. It would be a long night.

Sai didn't really answer the girl's question.
"Likely in the same way we are..." She murmured a loud. "So many questions to figure out. I suppose the answers will come in time."
She watched Ars wander into a tent before head a bit a ways from the campsite. As she glanced around she saw the ocean, the castle turret and the mansion above a cliff. The latter two would probably be good locations to check out once she had the chance.
Her eyes then finally landed on the distant estate once more.
'How much do you want to wager that the mansion up there in the distance could have something to do with the phenomenon?' She asked Vague.

"You're bright for a child, of... I'd say eight?" Jovial said, before finally finishing his work and allowing Phryx to take a rest near the fire, he turned and faced the girl, "The question is, was that the way we came in? For all we know, this could be a junction of all our worlds. We have very little on this world, nor anyway of getting back."

It was around this point that Ars re-emerged from her tent, just in time to be within earshot of the conversation. "From what I remember, I was trying to get through what was said to be Xibalba as nature would portray it...I thought I was near the exit but then I went and found myself here." Pause. "Perhaps something is trying to keep us here?"

'How much do you want to wager that the mansion up there in the distance could have something to do with the phenomenon?' She asked Vague. It is good start. However, HE says he wants this job to be quiet. HE doesn't want us attracting too much attention to ourselves and to simple be in the background for the most part. Keep with the group for now. Blend with the herd.

She listened to his answer. While she herself really didn't want to stick around these people any more than she had to, she knew there wasn't much choice for now. She didn't argue.
'Very well...'
Staying quietly in the background would not be difficult for her, at least, and so long as she didn't have any, well... Episodes, then all the better.
Turning, Sai returned to the camp area, in time to hear the last bit of conversation. She to sit back against a nearby tree.
"It's a possibility," she said in response to Ars, voice distant-sounding as always but at the very least it was audible.

Sensor Thirty-One bit her lip thoughtfully. "Even so, we should investigate," she decided. "Like you said, there's not a lot here except plants, and I don't know about you guys, but I'm hungry. Which way did the creatures come from?"

"Well," Phryx said, slightly louder than he intended, "Why not try the mansion!?"
Jovial sighed, holding his ear as Phryx nearly yelled it off, moving away for a bit. He looked up, just noticing the massive structure above them.
It was a good idea to stock up on some supplies, weapons maybe. Jovial only had a small combat knife with him, and probably a strip of some beef jerky like substance. It was only to keep the hunger pains down, but not completely away.
Producing the knife, he pulled the strip of beef jerky out. It was dark, brittle, but yet remained tough in the underlying muscle. It smelt disgusting, and, if you held it up to the light, was leaking off some phosphorous substance.
It was healthy, mind you. Completely healthy. However, there was no taste at all, if any. It repulsed the Human body, but was the staple product of the entire Legios.
It took some effort, but he managed to cut a sizeable chunk of the beef away, and looked at the little girl, offering it.
"It's not great, but if we don't find any other food, just hold onto this." Jovial said, smiling. The smile was a bit creepy, but hey, he was just trying to be nice.

Sensor Thirty-one held the jerky at eye level, examining it. "This is food?" she asked incredulously.

"Not from any animal you would like to see." Jovial said, sighing, "Just in case there is no food around here."

"Looks that way." There was a pause as Ars rose to her feet. "Shall we get a move on?"

There was a second flinch at Phryx's second accidental shout. She was going to have to get use to that.
Sai stood herself back up when the decision came to go to the mansion. Judging from the distance between them as the cliff as well as how high said cliff was, it would probably be quite a hike to get there.
Luckily, with her magic and tendrils, a weapon wasn't something she needed too urgently. Still, her abilities only went so far.

Phryx nodded, and began just walking towards the hill, holding his head and groaning, with Jovial walking after him, having to chew extremely hard into the jerky to get it to go down his throat.

"Okay," said Sensor Thirty-One, starting towards the hill as well. Having a goal seemed to put her in a good mood, and there was a bounce in her step as she walked. "Are we going to go up the back, or the face?" she asked Ars.

"First we need to get a good idea of the lay of the land...Or at least, that would be the most practical thing to do. But this place is vast and neither of us have time on our hands...We have things we need to be doing back home." Pause. "We could try the face, for starters and if that doesn't work out, the back will."
