Getting closer to the cliffs did bear fruit. There seemed to be a stairway leading up into the heart of the cliff. Sadly, getting across to the stair would mean trying to get across the river. The opposite bank was too steep to climb and the water too shallow to aid such an endevour.
The main stone bridge had seemingly collapsed through the ages, as had a more recent wooden bridge. Only the wooden polls remained of that bridge, almost like stepping stones across the water.

Sensor Thirty-One stared at the mass of rushing water. She'd never seen a river quite so big before. It looked fast and pretty scary. She grabbed Sai's hand.
"D-do we have to use those to get across?" she asked, pointing at the poles.

"Seems that way." Ars replied as she looked about the area. "But that's not our main problem. It's the water level."

Sai looked across the river at the steep bank. She'd glanced at the poles, seeing they might be able to get across that way. She looked down in surprise when the young girl took a hold of her hand, asking about the aforementioned poles.
She nodded in agreement with Ars.
Surely Sai could get across to the other side without the poles. She had wings and she had teleportation. But that wouldn't get anyone else up on that bank.

For a few moments, Ars considered tapping into Meschugael's power to borrow his wings...but that would mean letting him loose, even if temporarily. Fortunately, she did know a spell that might do the trick but first...
"Sai? Think you can fly over with Sensor 31 to the other side? I'd like to try something but I'd rather she be on the other end when we do."

Sai glanced at Ars when addressed. It seemed the woman knew well what she was. She wasn't sure how that was possible but there wasn't any real point in denying it.
She didn't respond to her. However that didn't mean she was saying no. Strangely enough she wasn't bothered at all by Sensor 31's proximity to her. Taking the child across with her worked well enough for her.
Standing still a moment, feathered, silver-like wings sprouted from her back; Having once been white but had darkened a little over time. Without another world, she'd lifted Sensor 31 into her hold, propelled herself into flight and landed on the bank at the other side, placing the child down once more.

Sensor Thirty-one was about to ask Ars what she meant when the ground disappeared. She gasped, but by the time she thought to scream, she was standing on the other side. She looked at Sai with wide, scared eyes. "H-how did you do that?" she squeaked.

Ars turned to look at Phryx and Jovial, figuring Vague would have no issues crossing over, incomprehensible being that it was. "You two better hang on to me. Just the arms. If the spell doesn't work, we'll just hit the water together."

Sai looked down at the girl as her wings folded behind her back. Vague she was sure could get across quite easily and likely already was.
"I'm nephilim," she said simply. "Half angel..."

"Wh-what does that mean, though?" asked Sensor Thirty-one. A human who could fly, like a giant insect? It was impossible. If one of the Speakers had seen something like that, they would have killed the abomination on sight. But Sensor Thirty-one wasn't a Speaker, and it was all she could do to remain standing.

"... I guess it means I'm not human. And celestial...?" She suggested. The kid seemed pretty shocked and terrified. Sai supposed she couldn't blame the child for reacting in such a way.

Sensor Thirty-one bit her lip, holding back tears. "A-are you a monster?" she whispered, reaching into her pocket and grabbing her Lifestone again, just in case she needed it. She had thought that Sai seemed nice. But if she was actually a monster all along...

Phryx sighed, grabbing onto the woman, and then forcing a reluctant Jovial to do it.

Ars nodded and quickly chanted under her breath, the wind slowly starting to blow past them where there hadn't been any wind before. She gave no warning for what would happen next.
A sudden wall of wind slammed into the three, knocking their legs out from under before it procceeded to blow them over to the other side as gently as leaves in a light autumn breeze. However, the wind only lasted as long as there was empty air beneath their bodies so the moment they crossed over solid ground it stopped, and the trio hit the ground.
Ars was the first one up, leaping back onto her feet and dusting herself off. "Huh. So magic still works here. Good to know."

Phryx landed in a low kneel, his hands and feet digging into the ground, as Jovial flew over him, slamming into the ground, leaving a visible impact crater and dust uplift.
He rolled over, onto his side, holding himself, "Uuuuungh, fuuuuck you."

Sai was quiet as she looked at Sensor Thirty-One. She glanced away from the girl, not sure how to answer that. After a moment or two of silence as the other three crossed the river, she stepped away from the child.
"Maybe I am. I've certainly always thought so," she said distantly. "Make of that answer what you will..."

Jovial groaned, placing a hand into the dirt and shoving himself up, "I fucking hate flying."
He doubled over, holding his sides. They were aching, bruised and he felt a bit like throwing up, but hey, he was on the other side. He let out an exhale, shook his hands out and continued up the hill, "Let's just get on with this. Anymore flying and I'm just gonna' cry."

"I'll only do that if it's required." Ars stated as she followed him and the others up the hill as well.

"Nope, nope. Nu-uh," Jovial said, holding his sides with a groan, "I'm never going to fly - ever. Touch me and get stabbed, lady, that was some really scary shit."

"I can be scarier than that but as you wish." She replied coolly, completely unfazed by the threat as the group continued to walk up the hill, heading towards the castle looming in the distance.

"Oooh, please don't," Jovial sighed, hands draping down his face, "The flying was bad enough, now I don't need to shit my pants."

Very slowly, a grin grew on Ars' face as she pondered the thought, though the grin she wore was not her own but that of a seraph gone mad. In contrast to how it manifested, it vanished quickly, as though it had never been.

Phryx sighed, groaning and stepping up onto a stone, "So, where are all you lot from?"
Jovial rubbed the back of his neck, sighing, "We might as well learn a bit about each-others lives."

Ars deliberated for a few moments, wondering how best to answer the question. "I come from a godless world." She said after a while but offered no explanation beyond that.

((o.o so many posts))
Sensor Thirty-one scooted away from Sai, walking beside Jovial instead. Both she and Ars had demonstrated strange abilities - in Ellair, her world, they would have been executed for witchcraft. And whatever "godless" meant, it didn't sound very nice. But they had both helped defeat that monster that showed up... The one that Ars had recognized. And the second thing - Sensor Thirty-one didn't know what it was - had simply approached Sai and vanished. Where had it gone?
"I come from Ellair," she said quietly. "It's small and dark, compared to this world, and not a lot grows there. But there are lots of fun things to do, like climb rocks. But Guardians don't get to play like other people do. But if the Ultimate Force chooses you to be a Guardian, you don't complain. We're special."

((oh Alknost Storm, the things I will do to you. OH STORM, OH STOR- Oh hai, Anya.))
"Ah, that's, erm... descriptive?" Jovial said, a smile creeping onto his face, mixed with a look of pain as he laughed, his joints locking up in reaction. If he wasn't afraid of flying or heights before, he was now.
"So, you're a Guardian?" Phryx asked, eyeing the girl up and down, "You don't look like much of a guard."
