Here's a random thing: Remember when there was mention that Rob Pattinson's nickname was "Spunk Ransom"? What the hell was that? I mean, it sounds like a porn star's name.

^^ I think it's supposed to be like a porn star name to be honest, he said he just came up with it on the spot because he doesn't like RPattz. I reckon so it's he can get loads of thirteen year old girls to say "spunk" a lot without knowing what it means, it's the kind of thing he'd do.

Ah, and here I thought it was one of those unfortunate nicknames one may get in prison, if you know what I mean. Hence why I was confused why he would allow such a name to be associated with himself, either ironically or by sheer ignorance of the connotations of such a name.

Nah, about ten years ago Coco Cola advertised their new water with the catchphrase "full of spunk" and everyone laughed and no-one bought it and then the government found out it was tap water pretending to be spring water anyway and it was a disaster. I know that in other countries it can mean spirit or something like that but here it just means jizz.
It's like that "allergic to vagina" joke he made, he's just taking the piss I think.

I was at the mall with my sister and we ventured into Hot Topic. First, I was surprised to see they had some nice gothic tops there. If I was 80lbs lighter and had more money, I'd be able to get a whooping 5 shirts from them! Second, they had their Twilight merchandise out. Instead of it being front and center of the store, it's now center back. It was also filled with crap, and it didn't seem like anything sold. Those colors are really off putting, I must say. Twilight and Eclipse had the best color schemes of the lot and even I might have been suckered in to buying something if I was even a slight Twifan. This time around, however, the colors are just mucky. That muted, peachy pink color mixed with blue is revolting. Here's an example:
It looks like generic Hallmark cards or something. Nice free font they used there.
I've also noticed the lack of promotion for this film. It's less than a month away and have not seen any gimmicks from Burger King or even a tiny tv spot. Either I'm not looking hard enough, for they are going to wait until the last few weeks to terrorize us with Breaking Dawn.

Well watching a bit of the Twilight movie on FX made me learn one thing:
That Edward is one of the few characters in fiction who can wear a black coat and sunglasses, and still come off looking like a doofus.

I can't be bothered to make a new topic but the sex scene has been cut down in the UK because it contains "thrusting" and they still want a 12A rating
I felt a bit ill at the word "thrusting" to be honest

Saw the movie poster edition of BD. It makes me wonder if they plan on making two poster covers considering BD is two movies.

Channel 4 are showing Twilight AGAIN
They're showing Let The Right One On for the first time on terrestrial though and I missed it on satellite so I'll finally get to see that

Looks like it's getting a PG-13 rating here in NZ

I found my favourite response to the "it's getting people to read" excuse for Twilight: "the riots got young people to exercise but we wouldn't say that was a good thing."

=\ Fans scare me. Period. I don't get the fads of today, honestly, but most of them scare me.
On another note: Anyone tried reading the book and listening to Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen at the same time? The song describes my situation when I have to read the book. If I don't come out alive, mother, carry on. D8

/threadnecro It's not much, but two of my aunts came to visit for Thanksgiving last year, and one of the first things one of them asked was if we wanted to go see Breaking Dawn Part 1. When my sister and I both said no, she went all "But you're a teenage girl!!1! D:" on us. 1. I'm 19. Last I checked, that booted me up from "teenager" to "young adult". 2. I first read Twilight in high school and I hated it just as much then as I do now. Age has nothing to do with recognizing a shit book when you see one.

Dammit, for the last time, mom, I do NOT want to go see Breaking Dawn! I don't want their merchandise or anymore books or the illustrated guide or the posters or the DVDs or whatever new way their milking the dead cow! PLEASE get it through your head that my not liking Twilight is NOT a phase or fad! I know I used to like it, that doesn't mean I'm faking my dislike for it now! I used to like Barbie dolls, too, but you're not complaining about me growing out of those, are you?!
No more Twilight stuff!

Mum the "It's your favourite book!" joke isn't funny any more. Please stop. If you're going to pick up a book meant to be directed at me, pick up "The Kite Runner" or "A Thousand Splendid Suns", or even "Shanghai Girls".

^Seriously, women in line at Wal-Mart waiting to buy "Breaking Dawn Part 1": They are NOT going to deviate from the books in the second movie!! If they haven't done it with any of the other movies thus far, why would they start now?!

No, Mom, my complaints against Twilight are legit. Just because I complain about it more than you complain about The Golden Compass (which offended you on a personal and spiritual level) does not mean I secretly like it and am ashamed that I secretly like it. It just means I complain more than you do whether it's for comical purposes or to express my ire.

I just realized something that really bugs me: it's always "s/he murmured/mumbled", "I whispered", "they hissed". Doesn't anyone in this series ever talk normally?

^What blasphemy! Don't you know dialogue tags with synonyms for "said" automatically make any dialogue epic?

I'd like to hear someone successfully hiss the words Meyer wants her characters to hiss.

I'm staring at my copies of the series and I think I know what to do with them.
1. Use them as cosplay material (ripping out pages to make masks and paper mache) 2. Use them to light one side of my stove (it needs contact with fire to start)
I felt so bad trying to use my IKEA 2012 copy for paper mache. And what's worse is my dogs destroyed 3 days of work ;A; I wouldn't have felt so bad if it were pages out of twilight.

I can't stand the vocabulary of any of the twilight characters, that doesn't make them smart or mature or special, in fact I use long words and then spend 90% of the conversation explaining the single sentence I said, does that make me oh so briliant and mature - no i'm just the sarcastic and hated by everyone teen nextdoor. It's funny how twilight fans(Emperor protect me, the heretics already build several shrines to meyer nearby)absolutely adore characters who use long words and yet they despise a real person who uses long words, suppose it's because I'm not supermodel-ish and brainless enough.

The vocabulary in these books hurt my head. Its almost like Meyer raped the thesaurus to make her writing look smarter.Chagrin Chagrin does she honestly expect high schoolers to even give a fuck what that word means.
