She would like: -The main character is a "bishonen" -There's "romance" (not very much, but it's there) -There's vampires -The Christian god is the one that officially exists in this universe She would hate, hate, HATE: -Said vampires are usually ugly, and feral -There's no "romance" involving the few attractive vampires -There's an absolutely ADORABLE blonde girl that's polite and sweet and kicks monster ass -In fact, there's lots of female characters that kick ass -No references to Muse (plenty of references to Jimi Hendrix and Iron Maiden and Rush and The Offspring, though) -There's a few attractive villains, as well as a few ugly good guys -Absolutely ZERO "good" vampires -Towards the end, a lot of main characters are gonna die (Earn Your Happy Ending and all, right?) -More than one of the characters is a widow/widower Feral vampires? COOLZ. Offspring? YES PLZ. Dead main characters? Where the fruck do I sign up?

To be fair, it's just a sickly blonde guy with some blood-coughing disease named "Dexter" who has a spear called "Offspring"...

OH, I forgot another thing...in a gag strip, I'm gonna have one of the villains (a blonde vampire that looks like Shin from Fist of the North Star dressed as Castlevania Alucard) take some random teenage girl to a meadow and step out in the sunlight and...a Super Saiyan aura ERUPTS around him and he makes the "devil's horns" sign with his fingers and says "THIS IS THE SKIN OF A TRULY METAL PERSON, STELLA!"
I'm sure that'd piss Meyer off.

I don't think she would like all the tragic couple at the end because the story line is quite dark and borderline gory. Over half of the cast dies. I think only one major character at the end is alive at the ending.
I can seriously only see her liking the romance bits, which makes the ending even more sad and tragic.

Ahh, she would probably hate the fact that: .Dragons don't sparkle. .There is a brutal fighting scene where several limbs are lost. .The government is a Meritocracy (rule by ability) and a semi-military dictatorship. .Both males and females are imperfect. .There are female soldiers .Everything within society is flawed

With my own little DW AU fanfic series she might like:
- the fact there is romance between someone living and someone dead (she's alive, he's a ghost).
- the fact there is some kind of 'love' in it.
- neither of them are human, although they are humanoid.
- as I have proven a few times, they do 'need' each other.
- he does have 'superpowers' as a result of being dead. (Usual ghost stuff - floating, passing through stuff (except things that have an odd molecular structure known as 'loose'), changing his shape (although he can't turn into someone else or anything weapon-like))
----------
She wouldn't like:
- the fact that their love is based on the fact they've known each other FOR A HUNDRED YEARS by the time they get together.
- both have some issues. He had his entire family killed, stowed away with someone he considered a 'father figure' (The Doctor) before being sidelined when others joined the team, died trying to prove himself worthy of affection and then hung around the control room of the TARDIS before she accidentally discovered him. She was born as the result of a secret DNA copier, but the influx of the original's memories caused her to go insane. She then crashed on a planet and was held captive by Cybermen who painfully wiped her memories in an attempt to make a template brain for their Cyber-Strategist. She then spent years with the Doctor trying to find herself and become more than just a 'clone', and although she claims she is the species most of the DNA is, she secretly has problems with being a 'mutt'. In other words THEY'VE BOTH GOT BACKSTORIES.
- although they 'need' each other, they only 'need' each other to be the people that they are now. Otherwise they'd still be living/exist, they just wouldn't be the individuals they are now. They kind of help each other deal with life in general, but not to the extent that if one died/'died' the other would commit suicide (except for one fic, but that was an AU of the AU and he snapped out of it).
- she is definately the 'dominate' one in the relationship, although not to an abusive standard, rather a teasing one.
- neither of them are stereotypically 'beautiful'. In fact she tends to wear glasses even when she doesn't need them (Doctor-trait!) and he's just a bit cute in a dorky sort of way.
- one of their main enemies has come very close to killing her, and actually DID kill him once (they'd used the Paradox machine to save him from dying).
My series isn't perfect... but I'm trying to improve it all the time. I'll likely add more as I think of them...

Let me think, I'll probably focus on one particular story since it's been particularly strong with me:
Pros +Some historical references (local history to my area mostly) +Vampires and other mythological creatures +Hints of romance +A couple starts engaged. +Humanity is shown in a negative light
Cons -Language (My main character, Acantha, uses increasingly strong language as she gets pissed off, so if she drops an f-bomb, you better run for cover) -Some rather twisted relationships (not mentioned due to spoilers) -The attitude towards sex (pretty much, humans prefer Mummy and Daddy in the bedroom, but they'll turn a blind eye if it keeps the human race going) -Acantha's attitude (some people think she has serious problems, but the truth is, she's a straight-shooter and doesn't sugar-coat anything, and in the end, she does become more open) -Girls who hold their own ground (Acantha is particularly known for this, but there are those who try) -Characters have depth (or at least, layers) -The engaged couple don't get married in the end -References to intoxication (I don't drink personally, but one character drowns his sorrows and abuses the fact that he doesn't get liver damage, he gets therapy later) -There is a reason for humans being shown in a negative light (that is, I highlight a certain way the human mind works as Acantha puts it, 'Forget vampires, screw the lycans, and forget about demons for five bloody minutes. Humans are man's worst enemy.'

One idea that I had for a while but revamped, so most of it isn't complete.
What she would like about it: - Involves the supernatural (in a sense). - There's some romance. - Friendship is a strong force. - The main character is faithful to his love interest and friends.
What she wouldn't like about it: - The main character is gay and has a boyfriend. - Romance is not the main point. - The main female lead becomes a villain in the end. - The other female characters are strong. - The main character prefers his human friends over the supernatural. - Violence, violence, violence. - The twist I have planned.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another idea I've had for a long while.
What she would like about it: - The strong themes of family. - Involves supernatural (sort of). Yet again. - The lead guy and girl get together.
What she wouldn't like about it: - My married couple has a role-reversal. The wife works (she's a surgeon) while the husband cooks and cleans. - The main couple separates. They didn't break up: they did it so they could complete their world-saving goals (divide and conquer). And no, they don't become distraught the whole time. - FIGHTING. LOTS AND LOTS OF FIGHTING. - Hell, the women have weapons of their own. The main character has a knife and grenades. - There's cross-dressing. For a good reason. - The male lead smokes. - One character saves the other, but they don't fall in love instantly. It takes a few months for the process to start. - There's a gay couple (boyxboy).

What she'd like: -Some romance -negative consequences for some female choices -Some male rescues -Wealthy, pretty characters -One guy's hot and rich
What she'd hate: -romance is not the main goal. -Love is love, not lust. -Women can take care of themselves. -Genuine willingness to help people shown. -Characters address their parents as 'mom and dad' or 'mother and father', not by name. -Bratty behavior is frowned on. -Females aren't chasing after males or vice versa. -Getting to know them before love. -interracial romances -girls are strong and don't feel bad about decisions, even if bad things happen. -Watching someone sleep is not seen as romantic and only happens once. -Male rescues are often assisted by females -Main characters are of different races and ethnicities -Mentions of gays and lesbians -No immortals in high school -Men in the romances are all good guys, regardless of their looks. -Main characters are aware of their looks, but not self-conscious about it. -Characters are given a chance to make friends. -Career women.
She would most likely hate it.

One thing I forgot is that one heroine is pretty with a nice singing voice, but her speaking voice is low and nasal. And she's in a polyandrous relationship. They know about each other and care about each other.
Oh, and these guys are also poor, happy and bi. She's in college on a (*gasp*) full scholarship and their jobs together are barely enough to keep them above the poverty line. One guy who has a thing for her tries to throw money around to impress her, but she tells him to go screw himself.

Like: + Soldiers raping and abusing women, some pedophilia. + Brazil finally gets a west coast. + The machines sparkle in the sun. Dislike: - Lots of swearing - There are battles - There is no supernatural, unless you count advanced technology. - The main characters are strong, including the females. - It has an unhappy ending, nuclear war. - Many deaths. - Some of the main characters die. - Guts and blood. - Drinking, gambling, smoking, etc - Very little romance + Most have no "soul mates" - General Klingensmith of the Allies is not pretty at all. - Washington, and thus Forks, is temporarily held by enemy forces.

What she'd like about Circus of the Sinister-
- The members of Cirque Sanguine are all extremely hot.
What she wouldn't like
- No Romance - Characters die. - The main character goes insane and doesn't end up with a hot guy. - Cross-dressing - Promiscuity - Torture - The only hot characters are evil.

Heh heh heh...oh man, I have had QUITE the diabolical idea today...ready for it? Here goes...
One of my female characters, who's a widow, has to fight her dead husband who got resurrected as some kinda undead mind-controlled thingamajig (neither vampire nor zombie...he's still more or less human.) I'm sure Smeyer would hate, hate, HAAAAAAAAATE that! ^_^

Started a recent new story (I had a new character come through with a lot of a backstory and I HAD to write her story to find out more about her! D: ), so let's evaluate this one too...
She'd like: - the fact there's a female lead - she is under the thumb of a male character. - at one point during the story this male character cuts her off from the other people they live with. - one of the other male characters is considered a pretty boy. - there's some 'science' that doesn't make much sense. - because I'm currently writing a lot of 'flashbacks' to tell the story there seems to be a lack of plot. - there is angst with the female lead and her best friend thanks to four years of traumatic events, being chased and their journey back home to the others. - there is shape shifting... a very little bit.
She'd hate: - the fact that the female lead talks back to the guy whose thumb she is under. - the violence (there's a lot of physical abuse rather than mental abuse) - there is NO ROMANCE in the plot at all (so far, one thing I have learnt about this character through this story is she might have a crush on her 'best friend' xD). - if there is romance in this story it'll likely be girlxgirl. - the 'pretty boy' does have two VERY NOTICEABLE physical flaws around his eyes. - the girls in this story can either shoot REALLY WELL or else (in the case of the female lead) are agile and determined. They're certainly not useless. - the shape shifting involves the female lead blacking out mentally and a feral mind taking over the new beast body. - I never attempt to explain the weird science at all... I mainly count on the excuse that it's a different dimension so the laws of physics are slightly different.

She probably wouldn't hate the fact that the female lead talks back to the guy, unless the guy's hot. If the guy's hot, she'd probably think that it's funny and that it's just build-up to when the two have sex. (Oops! I mean... fall in "love." Not lust. Nope.)

What She'd Like
- One of the leads is a teenage female
- Another is a female lead that is mature and single
- There's a lost love
- There's sacrifice for the greater good
- There's romance
- People have angst over their decision.
- The teenage girl falls for an older man
Reasons why she wouldn't like it.
- The female characters have their own personalities, descriptions, and thought processes.
- There's icky rated R bloodshed and violence
- The females can either take care of themselves, or are taught to survive on their own
- Some of the sex is... twisted and wrong, not clean and romance novel
- Drug use
- There are no good choices in many of the situations
- People die. Even when they did everything right
- The main character has to abandon her beliefs out of selfish motives
- There's more than a few depictions of torture
She'd never get beyond the first 4 chapters.
If she's afraid of Rated-R movies she'd never make it.

If the guy's hot, she'd probably think that it's funny and that it's just build-up to when the two have sex. (Oops! I mean... fall in "love." Not lust. Nope.) Haha! Maybe. Unfortunately he is not exactly all that attractive to her or in general, being that he's twice her age, a bastard and very grubby. And although he has come onto her in the past... he was steaming drunk, she was repulsed and as I mentioned, she more likely has a crush on her best friend (who is a girl). That said... she does have some measure of respect for the guy despite the mistreatment and being basically his slave... but wouldn't pass up any opportunity to get one over on him. I don't know, as I've said, it's still coming together. x.x; (As an aside, reading the comment made me laugh out loud at the thought of it. xD!)

She might like the fact that it's romance and borderline Christian because it's a bunch of Christmas stories. She might like Manon taking care of her enfeebled grandfather and being a little bit like a housewife.
She'll hate the strong female characters because I don't like writing weaklings. The females don't take stuff from the men or other women. Manon has a lot backbone and agrues with her long lost mother and sister.

I don't think she'd touch my work, I think she'd think it too icky for her...
She might pick up Lost Children if she's still in her science fiction rut, but she'd immediately regret it when she sees it's over a thousand pages of holocausts, genocide, child abuse, murder, rape, prejudice, child soldiers, suicide, loss, government corruption, cooperation corruption, cynicalism, insanity, corruption of purity, while it starts to lighten up more towards to the end to the point were(I hope) it gives you a better outlook on life and help people through hard times. Meyer wouldn't even get to page two hundred before putting it down. She'd also not like the fact that it's an ever moving pace, and that there's not much to fantasize about having such a miserable life.
Return to the Yellow Slide-she wouldn't even give it a second glance so I'm not even gonna try.
The Victim- I dunno WHAT she'd think of this one...

Since I'm currently cooking up a story that's about vampires, I decided to post again with what I imagine Smeyer would think of that story.
Likes:
-She would like the concept of the Impundulu: a handsome young "vampire" who is absolutely obedient to the witch that he serves. She'd be especially intrigued by the fact that South African myths usually mention that the Impundulus have sexual relations with their witch. Going into the story, she'd probably imagine that the female protagonist would "tame" the Impundulu that she inherits from her grandmother, fall in love with him, and stay abstinent until their wedding night.
-She would like the fact that the main characters meet many different vampiric creatures from many different cultures and folklore. (As little research as she did on the subject, I imagine she would be interested in seeing all of these in a way that doesn't require any effort on her part.)
-The female protagonist is a very weak, awkward, and withdrawn doormat of a girl at the beginning of the story.
-I have to admit that Smeyers seems to depend on and genuinely like her brothers, (I mean, heck, Jacob was based on her brother up until the point that Smeyers decided to twist his character for the sake of a love triangle, and he was one of the few likable characters in "Twilight,") so she would like how close the female protagonist is to her brother.
-The Impundulu hates the fact that he has to be under a series of witches' thumbs for all of eternity and initially hates the main gal for being such a doormat. (OMG! So broody and sexah!)
-The main antagonist is a human sorcerer who enslaves vampires in order to receive a share of the life energy they harvest and thus gain eternal youth. (And humans r eeeeebul! Why can't they leave teh poor vampies alone?! Oh, gosh. It hurt a bit to write that... T_T)
Dislikes:
-The female protagonist is gay, so any possibilities of a romance between her and the sexah vamp are thrown out the window.
-The main gal's brother is also gay and the two have furthered strengthened their bond by only confiding in each other about their homosexuality.
-The Impundulu that the main gal inherits from her witchy grandma acts like one would expect a malicious being created by an evil witch to act (murdering innocents, commiting crimes, seducing young ladies and leading them to destrcution,) making him, like, ttly not boyfriend material.
-The main gal initially wants to kill the Impundulu so that he can't harm any more innocent people. (What? Kill the sexah broody vamp?! NOOOOOOOOO!!)
-In the story, more emphasis is put on the bond between family members than on the bond between two lovers. In fact, the main protagonists (with the exclusion of the main gal's father) are quite unlucky in love. Which brings me to my next point...
-The father of our leading lady is not a peripheral character like Charlie, but a smart and combat-savvy vampire hunter who fights for and with his family. He also has a healthy and equal relationship with the leading lady's mother.
-Over the events of the story, the leading lady grows and becomes more independent and confident in herself. She also learns to embrace her witchy lineage and becomes very close to her Impundulu.
All in all, she would probably say my story "had potential" but was "poorly executed." She would probably then proceed to give a self-righteous speech about how important choice is and how I should've had the Impundulu choose to not be evil but good and warm and fuzzy instead (like Edward) and how the leading lady should've chosen not to be a witch, but a good little moral christian girl. She might also admit that a love triangle between the main gal, the Impundulu, and the main gal's adopted brother would've been more interesting. (Because, come on! They're only adopted siblings! It's not creepy if it isn't biological! Duh!)

Post by Madame Celeste on Dec 26, 2010 20:17:55 GMT -8
Hmm, let's see...
I do have an original RPG that I created and currently manage on another website, which in essence revolves around a race of humans (Celestians) who, among other powers that they each have, can transport themselves (a la Kingdom Hearts) to other dimensions based on stories written on Earth. Right now the RP itself is still pretty early in, but my co-GM and I already have most of the details set up in our heads, so based on that I can name a few things off-hand that Ms. Meyer might like or dislike. (I may update this list later on as more likes/dislikes come to mind.)
LIKES:
1) Thus far everyone in the RP is single, with the exception of one married couple and one widower, but there is still quite a lot of potential for romance in the future.
2) My primary character, Amanda, is 15 years old, comes from a nice, stable family background, and lives in a fairly decent small town in New York state. (Which more or less sounds like SMeyer's preferred background for her heroines.)
3) Although the characters' religions haven't been fully explored as of yet, some religious influence is still present. For instance, one of the main villain groups, the Sygma, have titles corresponding to each of the Seven Deadly Sins, and their rivals, the Domini, are likewise named for the Seven Holy Virtues. Other races (which have not yet been formally introduced in the RP canon) were inspired in part by depictions of angels.
4) Even excluding the realms (which are based on real-life books, movies, TV shows, etc.) there are still lots of fantasy elements used in the RP.
5) The only humans currently present in the story are either non-Earth humans from other realms, or NPC supporting characters. Even then, their presence is rare in both cases, and most of them play relatively minor roles.
6) Family and friendship are very big themes throughout most of the RP, and family-related characters are shown to be noticeably closer with each other than they are with other characters.
DISLIKES:
1) I designed Amanda's character to make her an Anti-Bella, in a sense. She has a good relationship with both of her parents and shows due respect for their authority in most (if not all) situations in the RP that I'm aware of, plus she makes no attempt to rely on anyone else to save her from danger (though she will gladly accept help when offered), and can't stand it when someone tries to boss her around or otherwise manipulate her. But most importantly, she's also perfectly happy with her normal life on Earth and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. (Certainly not for an obsessive stalker who sparkles in the sunlight!)
2) There's plenty of girl power and feminism involved as well, and many of the female villains have been known to exhibit a dominatrix complex.
3) Some of the characters have had their share of past traumas. For example: ---One of the above-mentioned female villains was born out of wedlock and consequently abandoned at an orphanage. ---Another female villain grew up in Afghanistan during the Taliban regime, was educated in secret by her father, and watched as her family was slaughtered when they were caught. ---One of the main heroes lost his father to gang violence, after which his older cousin reluctantly joined the gang in an attempt to protect him and the rest of their family. ---One of the good guys (technically not one of the main heroes) witnessed as the villains of the RP invaded and conquered his native realm. He himself barely survived, thanks to the intervention of another good guy, but he now suffers from amnesia as a result of the invasion. ---Another of the main heroes lost his mother in a suspicious fire, and his father and younger brother went missing the same day. (Both are still alive, but he doesn't know that as of yet.)
4) The younger brother (see the last example of Part 3) is 12 years old, but despite his age he is somewhat of a genocidal sociopath; he hates regular humans with a passion, and is not above manipulating others' emotions to accomplish a mission. (Not only was he, in fact, responsible for the death of his own mother, but in the RP itself he also orchestrated the abduction of Amanda's cheerleading coach and later seriously injured one of her friends.)
5) Two of my female characters share a particularly close partnership, enough so that I've sometimes considered making them lesbian lovers. (This isn't canon yet, but it's not impossible.) Likewise, one of my co-GM's male villains has a yaoi attraction toward one of my male good guys, even though his feelings are not returned.
6) Although this isn't official yet, I plan on doing a Twilight arc for this RP mainly to poke some fun at the Twilight series, and perhaps develop my characters some more while I'm at it. Seeing how SMeyer has shown very poor tolerance for criticism in general, I can imagine that she would be pretty upset about this.
7) Any and all supernatural properties, including a Celestian's or other being's powers, are completely negated on Earth, with the sole exception of Celestian telepathy. For example, if Edward Cullen were ever to come to our world, he would basically spend his stay here as *le GASP!* a plain, ordinary HUMAN!
8) Although Earth humans have rarely had a chance to shine in the story so far, those who do make an appearance are by no means wimpy or fragile, save for realistic exceptions such as pregnant women. Granted, to date these are all NPC supporting characters and all civilians with little to no combat expertise, and thus they don't kick as much ass as a typical Celestian character might, but I have yet to see any of these be truly portrayed as useless cowards. Future Earth human characters are currently in the works with more experience in fighting, hacking, etc., and the goal right now is to make said humans every bit as capable as their Celestian counterparts.
9) All of the characters, in addition to having their share of flaws and imperfections, tend to have their own personal goals and agendas, none of which include falling in "twu wuv" with the first pretty face who looks their way.
10) Some degree of blood/gore is shown, albeit on a PG-13 level. On that note, some R-rated realms have been nominated by our members for use in future arcs, including Devil May Cry 4 and the Mortal Kombat series, which may or may not increase the PG-13 rating in the future, depending on how it is handled.
11) Many serious topics are featured in the backstories of certain characters, including gang violence and the Taliban as mentioned before.
12) One word: Guns. As of right now the main RP is almost finishing up with its first real phase of the story on Earth, and in that part alone, guns have been pulled on or fired at other characters a grand total of 13 times. Knives, swords, and the like have also been used quite often: not as often as guns, but still enough to raise some eyebrows on SMeyer's part.

For a short story I wrote recently: [/b] [li] The main character is female. [/li][li] She . . . could be a bit broody. [/li][li] Lead girl's new friend helps her. [/li][li] Good lesson (I think??) at the end. [/li][/ul] [/b] [li] There're no men mentioned in the story. [/li][li] The bitchy character becomes a big help. [/li][li] Story takes place in a run-down place. [/li][/ul]

Alright, got 4 stories that I am working on-gonna shoot them off:
Massive crossover with the main fandom being Sonic the Hedgehog:
What she'd like: Lots of romance and couples Hot men (we do both cartoony and realistic styles in our drawings) kids with special powers The occasional non vaginal method of childbirth
What she wouldn't like: Every single female is independant, lead female would rather kick the ass of the bad guy then wait for her husband to save her Guys are not abusive Lots of premarital/extramarital sex, along with bondage, yaoi, and the occasional bit of yuri The action often overtakes the romance (well the het and yuri romance that is) plenty of bashing of her precious works loads of cursing beliefs expressed are close to wicca or other pagan religions all the characters have flaws, whether physical or otherwise the lead male is very dependant on parents/friends/s.o.s due to his flaw (a medical condition)
A revengefic called "Screw Life, I Have Cheats!"
What she might like: lead is female, needs some assistance
What she won't like: barely any romance, most romance is yaoi. Just about every "Ideal" male to her (I.E. douchebag) gets their asses kicked in one way or another yes, this is the revengefic I was talking about c: Lead female's boyfriend is rarely seen in person
Orignal fiction that I'm still writing What she might like: main character is a teen girl, supposed to look really pretty
What she won't like: she isn't a guy magnet and she most likely won't have a boyfriend
Vocaloid and RPG based fanfiction What she might like: more girls than guys and the existing guys are hot Lead female is the "ideal girl"
What she won't like: More premarital orgies than normal sex after marriage-and the sex won't be in any detail Most marriages are only for "the in game benefits" More monster killing than anything else If she was in one of the games she would most likely get banned
if you guys want to read any of these stories, let me know. You will need a test for the first one, which is the one with the most progress.
