A simple closed mouth kiss brings in so many questions. Yeah. How the heck does a closed mouth kiss lead to bed breaking sex? ?_? It's crazy to say, but I know worse. I grew up Orthodox Jewish and there is this whole concept called Shomer Nagiah, which literally means "guarding purity." The idea is that there is no affectionate touching because we all know men are horny bastards who can't help themselves. This literally means no touching until the wedding night. The first time you even hold their hand is when you go out of the Chupah after the wedding ceremony. I'm actually going to a wedding of a couple like this on Sunday. The concept has never made sense to me for a host of reasons but a big one was always "how do you go from not even holding hands to having sex in just one night?" I'm not Shomer nor is anyone I'm close to these days, or at least, not anyone I'm close enough to ask. Back in high school there was this even split between the girls who were shomer and those who weren't. I think we may have asked one of our teachers about it, but she shrugged it off with a non-answer. Seriously, it's just messed up. I get waiting until marriage to have sex, but well, there are other things.
My ex-boyfriend was Jewish, and he told me something about not even being supposed to touch girls until he got married.
But that ain't how it happened with us.

It never happened that way for me either.
But the other thing that is so messed up about Bella and Edward going from closed mouth kissing to sex in one night is the fact that Edward thought open mouthed kissing was too dangerous, lest she have a small cut in her mouth. But somehow exchanging fluids when you have sex was just fine. And please Meyer, don't give me that shit that only the saliva is poisonous. You told us that no male vampire had had sex with a female human before, so how did they know that his cum wasn't venomous.

But leave it to Meyer to create a world where no male vampire has EVER had sex with any female human...and the first two to do it are a whiney, emo high school girl and an abusive psycho.

Wow... Can't Smeyer keep track of her own plotline? Just to clarify, if I could get a page number for "no vampire had sex with a human before Edward and Bella", (or an implication thereof) I'd appreciate it.
'Cause that would mean she kinda shot herself in the foot with the whole "Nahuel/Nauhel/whateverhisnameis will prove that Renesmee is safe and then the Volturi won't slaughter us" thing... Not that I expect better from her, but you know... :/

The one thing I absolutely HATE is how she doesn't do research. Whenever I write a story I research everything needed, and even take notes on it.

^ I agree. Even though I've seen worse stories not even following the plotline at all, which is really bad fanfiction, it's still pretty bad when you are now considered an "author" to a bunch of people and making stuff up along the way in interviews. You shouldn't even make the interviews the information holder if someone doesn't know what you're getting at in the your books.

There's something that dawned on me.
I don't know if it's the same in Washington, but in England, if you get a license to marry in a certain location, the law states that if you apply for a place that is previously unlicensed to hold wedding ceremonies, then members of the public can also arrange to hold their weddings there. This is why when Prince Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles, they held the ceremony at Westminster Abbey when they initially wanted to marry at Windsor Castle.
If that law also applies in Washington, then holding the wedding in the Cullens' back yard is shooting themselves in the foot.

*revives thread.*
This is more of a character thing I guess but...if imprinting is for pasing on the werewolf gene, then wouldn't it be logical for Sam to have stayed with/imprinted on Leah? I mean, they were already in a relationship so he wouldn't be forcing her. And she becomes a werewolf which would make her the best match for passing on the gene, should she stop shifting long enough to support a pregnancy.
I mean, it makes no sense that a werewolf would imprint on someone and just take a chance that their kids would have the gene, even if the imprintee is the best choice for that werewolf. Surely, a female werewolf and a male one would have a far better chance than a male werewolf and an ordinary human woman!

Here's something I don't understand. Jasper was said to not like feeding on humans because he could feel their emotions. So now he feeds on animals because he finds it much more merciful. However, animals do have emotions. They are not just unthinking unfeeling creatures that just walk around for no reason. They can feel pain, joy, fear, attachment.
So why is this never brought up. If you can feel the emotions of your prey then shouldn't it bother Jasper no matter what species he feeds on? Yet he has never seen to have any problems with this diet. Is it because of his lack of self control or is it something that Meyer just decides not to bring up?

Because animals aren't humans, I suppose. I'd imagine that Meyer assumes that animals don't feel the emotions that people do. She's already likened the bad vampires to animals, I believe, so it wouldn't surprise me if she thought animals were driven only by instinct.
Or maybe Jasper only feels the emotions of humans. I really don't have a good answer for you, Halo.
My question is this: If Jasper flipped out when Bella got a papercutm how can he be in a high school full of girls? I realise Meyer said that period blood was 'dead blood' (whatever the fuck that means), but that's idiotic and I think Meyer thought of it on the spot. Besides, kids get papercuts all the time in school; the blood Jasper's around doesn't have to be period blood for his high school situation to make no sense.
Also, when Teddy pushed Bella into the table and she got the long gash on her arm, why didn't Jasper attack her then? That's so much more blood than a papercut and he couldn't restrain himself with the papercut, so why the restraint with the arm gash?

^Because Meyer didn't think about it would be the most accurate assumption. But we know that already.
Maybe by then he had learned to suppress the hungry for human blood. Or Meyer didn't want her special snowflake to be hurt. These are also good reasons.

I always thought she woul use that scene and Bella's aversion to blood as a way to explain her super specialness when she was a vampire. Like, I don't know, the aversion was so great that she carried it on to her vampire being, it got amplified as a trait and that would be why she was so good at controlling her thirst right from the beginning. I don't know, it just sounds to me much more logical than the whole: she chose to be a vampire, no one had ever do that, she was mentally prepared for the thirst bullshit. Except that in The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide, Meyer defies her canon (yet again) by explaining that Charles, a nomadic, human-blood drinking vampire from Breaking Dawn, also "chose" to be a vampire and prepared for three years (not just Bella's few months) before he was bitten. Yet Bella is a much bigger Mary-Sue than still surpasses Charles in every way. But wait...no one can be as "speeshul" as Bella, right? Just joined the Forums in order to point out yet another plot hole in SMeyer's swiss-cheese logic. (I also play Jasper Hale on a Twilight RPG site, by the way.) Because animals aren't humans, I suppose. I'd imagine that Meyer assumes that animals don't feel the emotions that people do. She's already likened the bad vampires to animals, I believe, so it wouldn't surprise me if she thought animals were driven only by instinct. Or maybe Jasper only feels the emotions of humans. That's so much more blood than a papercut and he couldn't restrain himself with the papercut, so why the restraint with the arm gash? A) This. Probably Jasper considers animals the "lesser evil" as he does not have to register that it is humans he is killing. Cruel to some, but probably a good probability. B) Jasper was already being fought/restrained by at least two or three other Cullens by the time Bella's arm was sliced open...but you'd think that Jasper, who has killed thousands of other vampires in combat [according to SMeyer], could easily take down any other bloodsucker in his path. But of course...Bella Sparklypoo can't be touched...

Hey I have another question. When a person turns into a vampire, the person's body is left permanently in the state that it was when the person was changed. This supported by Esme who is rounded from having given birth to a son before she was turned into a vamp by Carlisle. So here is my question, WHY DIDN"T THIS HAPPEN TO BELLA? When she was vamped she was super hot however her body was in horrid condition when she was bitten. She had all kinds of broken bones a hole in her stomach, and not to mention the fact that the placenta didn't even have time to detach or at least there was no mention of it detaching. How is she super hot as a vamp. She should have had a protruding stomach with a huge hole, and broken bones but she is all healed. WTF?! Vampires are supposed to be unchanging yet she changed. Anyone got any explanation for this?

Smeyer can't check whats she's already written due to laziness, she changes her canon again and again to make her fantasy work out. When you really think about it, if she kept some stuff the way she said in the first place it couldn't follow later ideas (i.e Bella getting pregnant ). So in order to get her happy endin- I'm sorry Bella's happy ending she had to change it.

In Breaking Dawn, even though this is not a plot hole so much as this just doesn't make any sense, Why doesn't Bella or Edward go to take Nessie to hide instead of Jacob. I mean you letting one of the strongest guys out there leave to go take a child to hide. Shouldn't Edward or Bella go take Nessie to hide, preferrably Bella because Edward never acts like he even gives a shit about Nessie, I mean they are her parents after all. Who in their right mind leaves their child alone with a man that plans to bone her in 7 years? If not them then why not Rosalie who is also a mother figure, Esme who can't fight worth a damn or do anything useful for that matter or even leave her with Charlie who is her maternal grandfather. Why with all of these choices do they choose to leave her with Jacob. Not only is this a bad decision but it reflects badly on Jacob as an Alpha. If he doesn't act like an Alpha then it is just an empty title and he is not a leader. No leader abandons their pack during a battle.

Meyer has an ideal (or so it seems to me) that the best kid is one the parents don't have to raise. That's why Nessie is growing up so fast. She's skipping past the awkward years of temper tantrums and potty training and going straight into "young woman who is ready and willing to do chores." Which, of course, rarely ever happens. But again, the "perfect child" is self-sufficient. Oh, and is always hoisted off on babysitters whenever the parents are tired of her. Can't have sex if the kids are around, and -- as we all know -- sex is far more important than your kids at all times! [/sarcasm] God, it hurt to write that last bit... Anyway, as to why Jacob is taking her to safety? BECUZ TWU WUV DATS WHY!!!111 Since sexual love is the only love worth anything (that sentence hurt as much as the other one, ugh), OF COURSE Jacob has to save her! He's going to have sex with her, he's her soulmate, his relationship to her is more important than some silly relationship she might have with her daddy! DON'T YOU SEE, AUDIENCE? TRUE LOVE, RIGHT HERE. ...so yeah, I think Jacob saving Nessie is just Meyer's way of shoving that pairing down our throats. -_- Which brings up a similar question that I want to know the answer to. Why didn't any of this stuff seem wrong to Meyer? How is it that she sat there, read what she had written about a teenager falling in love with a newborn baby, thought "Yep, that's completely healthy and normal and romantic," and sent it out to the publishers? And how is it that the fans also like it? I spoke with a twenty-two year old woman about it a few years back, and mentioned that I didn't like the whole Jacob/Nessie thing. She flipped out. "What? No! How can you NOT like it? It's soooo sweet! What do you mean pedophilia? How is it pedophilia, I don't see that in there at all." HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE IT? WHAT ARE YOU SEEING THERE INSTEAD OF PEDOPHILIA?

I just started reading New Moon and realised something funny.
Edward says in Twilight that he doesn't have to breathe, but he does it 'cause otherwise he won't smell anything.
So, when the Cullens are with Bella, why don't they simply stop breathing? Then there wouldn't be any problem with paper cuts and stuff, 'cause it's the smell of blood that makes them thirsty - right?

Okay. When I was a kid I was asked for my opinion on where to go on vacation when dad had vacation time. More times than not I remember I'd say where I wanted to go and then we'd end up somewhere dad wanted to go. Even though I didn't have a choice in where we went it felt nice to be consulted on where to go and I got to spend time with my family outside of the house.
It seems to me that if Bella's parents were real parents they wouldn't give her a choice about where she vacationed. She should be glad she's going to Forks in the first place to spend time with her dad and not complain about the location. And the fact that she was "compelled" to go just says to me that she threw a fit every time she had to go to Forks. That foot stomping bit makes me picture her as more of a spoiled brat than a mature teenager.
Also, why does her mother have to escape from Forks with her?
@hirmu - Meyer didn't think about it and more than likely her editor just wanted to put the book out for mass consumption.

Why is it punishment to see your own father? My own dad past away four years ago and hate this behavior in kids. It's not like her father is mean or doesn't want her there. In Twilight, he says how much he missed her. She was a bitch and decided that she didn't have to put up with the torture anymore when she was 14 and didn't go back for two summers. Bella doesn't consider the fact that those few weeks probably mean the world to Charlie, not only does he miss her but her mother who she reminds him of. He is lonely and depressed, his family and life reluncant to even spend two days with him. So much for the mature and selfless heroine. This is one of my biggest problems with Meyer. She keeps claiming something with no textual evidence. You can't just add stuff in or make a spin off book *cough*Midnight Sun*coughcough* as a means to justify your point after you have been proven wrong. In a debate, Meyer would have no chance because her text says and proves something completely different then what she meant. Please, anyone, give me an instance of mature, self sacrifice, something that will give credit to Bella as a person.

There isn't any evidence of her being selfless. I follow reasoning with vampires on tumblr and there's a quote from New Moon that makes me want to hit a wall. Here's the image.

WHAT ARE YOU SEEING THERE INSTEAD OF PEDOPHILIA? She couldn't see it because she has a huge fucking ego and thought that anything she puts out would be supported by the fan base. Plus none of the fans really expressed any serious problems with imprinting before. We (antis) may not have liked it but it wasn't till Jacob and Nessie that even the fan base of twilight began to see that imprinting is fucked up. Which brings me to my theory of why she can't see that Jacob and Nessie is a bad pairing. My Nessie and Jacob theory: She wants Jacob to have happy ending and the only way for him to have a happy ending is for him to end up with a version of herself. Since he can't have her avatar then she'll create another avatar for him since in her mind Leah can't match up to her ideal and therefore wouldn't be a suitable replacement for Bella. I think Leah was originally created to be with Jacob. When one considers that Jacob and Leah were married in the bible and they are going through the same thing and therefore would be able to relate. Combine that with the fact that they seem to interact a lot and it is too much to be coincidence. What I think happened is that around the time of Breaking Dawn, Meyer convinced herself that Leah is somehow less that Bella. Leah isn't good enough or pretty enough because she is not her avatar so Jacob cannot be content with her as she is not a suitable replacement. So Meyer created a pseudo Bella, a person with all of the qualities she thinks Bella should have and had Jacob imprint of her and created all of the explanations hoping that it would satisfy the fan base. Then Meyer would have her pseudo Bella avatar choose Jacob instead of pseudo- Edward thereby giving Jacob his happy ending. Its not so much that she thinks it is romantic so much as she thinks that Jacob should have his happy ending and that this Bella clone will suffice. The fact that Bella clone is completely being stripped of her choice and will be forced to bang a guy in seven years is flying over her head because in her mind Jacob is entitled to the Bella clone as he suffered for the original Bella and got nothing.

The strip of choice is another thing that opens another hole. Renesmee's intelligence is growing rapidly. She is says that Jacob is hers now but, like most people, we grow out of things that we liked when we were young. So we might be fond of Jacob in the beginning but when her reason starts to grasps concepts such as child grooming and control, she will fight back against his "love". If my theory is correct and Renesmee grows out of loving Jacob and Jacob can't live without her love, what will happen? Will he claw her face off like Sam with Emily? She isn't nearly as strong as regular vampires and Jacob has the years of experience on her so the fight leans in his corner. Will Bella and Edward stop bumping hips to deal with this?

Assuming they stop humping each other long enough to even have a clue what is going on in Nessie's life, probably not. We all know Bella would encourage Nessie to love him and state that they are soul mates therefore she shouldn't deny him. Your theory should come true. A lot of the things that we like as children we don't like as adults. On top of that Nessie calls him my Jacob not because she thinks of him that way but because she is a child and who thinks of him as a parental figure. A lot of children are possessive of parents and lets face its Jacob and Rosalie are basically her mom and dad. Bella and Edward are too busy bumping pelvises to care what Nessie is doing. Really she shouldn't see Jacob as a romantic partner at all as he is an authority figure in her life. But we all know he will groom her to think that she is supposed to have sex with him when she looks "18." If there is a romantic relationship the power dynamic would be grossly tipped in Rapey Jakey's favor and even though he is willing and ready to do anything she wants the relationship will never be equal. But again all of this makes sense to Meyer as Jacobs is entitled to Renesmee (pseudo-Bella) all by virtue of Jacob losing the original Bella all events Nessie can't control. Lastly Meyer's idea of romantic love is having the woman fall for the man simply because the man can't live without her. Renesmee will love Jacob because she is expected to. There is no choice in this series and the Nessie and Jacob is glaring proof of that. He will groom her to be his mate. She will have no choice but to love him as he is grooming her and her parents are encouraging her to be with him. Choice, I don't see any. If Renesmee had a choice Jacob would the last person she would consider a romantic partner.

This one always bugged me. The vampires' general bodily fluids are venomous, right? Making it impossible for Bella and Edward to even kiss? That said, how come they're able to bang and conceive after they're married? Does the venom magically vanish after the wedding ceremony?

^ Wouldn't it make more sense, on the closed-mouth kissing thing, if he was more afraid that Bellasue would swallow some of his venom rather than it being absorbed through a cut in her mouth?
